There seems to be a lot of competition provoking comments on here - namely Wim Hof vs Buteyko Breathing. It really isn't necessary. The wise person will do both, all methods. It doesn't need to be a us vs them mentality. Taking this aside, I suffered with Asthma for many years and managed to control it well, but I believe doing this method will help. I plan to do Wim Hof breathing as well, simply because I want to have better lungs. This video is amazing and I will be practicing this multiple times a day, minimum once. I could do it myself, but the music, waves and voice in this video are amazing and made my breath calm and easily. It was tough at the start but it eased over time. Which is truly amazing. I am so grateful for this video. Thank you so much

Its hard to find videos that are helpful that are true to the actual Buteyko method, I use two others from Take a Deep Breath to mix it up and keep me motivated. This is my favourite, the waves are soooo relaxing. But best of all you help me keep my asthma under control. Thank you again.
This tape was so helpful for me when going through 6 months of breathing difficulties with medium COVID. This along with of course all my asthma meds maxed and watching my oxygen intake kept me from going to E.R. I continue to do your tapes now for meditation as well as for my asthma. I have been having super bad anxiety, Shortness of breath, Brain frog, loss of focus and concentration along with poor quality sleep. I’m learning more about this method and am going to start doing this daily. Is it normal for this to be difficult when first starting?

I love this video and have used it many times. I have been practicing Buteyko breathing about 6 months. I have been taking a Buteyko class and they say our breaths should be rapid, shallow and rhythmic. All of the books I have read and videos I have seen on Buteyko say that the breathing should be slow, shallow and thythmic. I am more comfortable with the slow breathing and I was wondering what your thoughts on this was. Also, what do you think is the best form of breathing to heal the body. Thanks so much

@@neema87654 it has been better since I posted that comment. I'm no longer at Death's door, and the panic attacks have stopped. Since then I found out ,that what the doctors were calling asthma, was really a chronic pseudomonas, and E-coli infection. Been on many antibiotics, I'm still fighting it, However the Buteko is very helpful. It calms down my frantic over breathing, and helps clear my sinuses.
This one is a really good one for me in early mornings for waiting for the body to get active or late at night when the Wim Hoff inspired ones are just too hectic. I LOVE the music! Is this one available at your Benaural Beats as well? THANK YOU FOR YOUR CHANNEL!
Your on to something.Think breathing is going to be huge in a few years. It's definitely the new yoga and the great thing about it is u don't need any fancy studio or mat. Just 🫁
Wim Hof isn't suitable for COPD. 1st hand experience. The trick is not to time any exercise. Go as gentle as possible. And do them in an upright position. Let gravity do it's magic.
Love this. Relaxing. But not sure i'm getting it right. A bit of panic breathing going on. I can feel the stress inside me dictate my breathing. Not easy to "let go". Did i miss that each breath in/out should be deep? Is abdominal/diaphram breathing Buteyko, or another practice?
Is there any chance of a longer version of this? Like an hour or more of the music and you just reminding to breath slowly and too much etc? It would be a lifesaver

Loved this video and session! Great method to relax and slow the motor. I also do faster breathing techniques like Wim Hof with extended breath holds. When should those techniques be used vs. slow and light like Buteyko?

I followed your instructions perfectly...except for the following challenge...I’d appreciate your advice/assistance with managing some strong, tense, pressured sensations around my mouth and jaw. during my nose breathIng. I felt I needed to open and stretch my mouth every so often to relieve the tension. Please explain what’s going on? Any suggestions? Thanks.
This could be because your breathing so light, that your Co2 has increased (which is the point) but if your particularly sensitive to this then your body is probably conditions to some mouth breathing to get more air in, hence the need or feeling to open your mouth. I would suggest you practice nose breathing as much as possible, especially during any physical activity.

i have a question. i googled about butekyo breathing to make sure i practice it right. i found some websites that teaches you to hold your breath after a long inhale and repeat. this video is great and i love it but can you explain the difference?
The differences have been covered in a few podcasts and, I think, in The Oxygen Advantage book. As Mike put it in another video; the WHM is the way you breathe for one hour a day, the Buteyko method is the way to breather in the 23 remaining hours
I love these exercises but my only problem is the ads at the end. I get into a lovely deep relaxation and sometimes fall asleep and then a loud ad suddenly comes on. Could they be at the beginning instead maybe? :-)
Can someone help me? I want these benefits but I am confused about ‘breathing into my belly’. Of course I don’t have any lungs down there so does it mean that I should breathe in a way that extends my lung length so they move toward my belly. This question sounds ridiculous but I am serious.
Think of it more as correct or functional breathing, and by that we mean using the power of your diaphragm - this incredibly huge muscle is responsible for pulling air into and out of your lungs, it massages your organs and it helps stabilize your core. We talk about this because we have a real problem when it comes to sucking in our gut, or panic breathing with our shoulders, so the benefits of breathing into your belly are really vast. hope this helps, Mike

@@terriashby1285 people breathe shallow normally and with practice you'll notice your lower belly inflating in volume as the diaphragm lowers pulling in a much larger volume of air into your lungs. as you do the exercises focus on your lower belly moving out before you chest expands. it becomes automatic as you become accustomed to slower deeper diaphragm breathing.
It's too complex and powerful to be taught properly or safely via TH-cam.... The practice needs to be adjusted to the disease symptoms like a drug dosage would.

It can cause infections to flare up as the immune system gets stronger. It probably means you have a need to see the dentist. Same can happen with subclinical athletes foot flaring up etc. To progress with the breathing the infection or rotton tooth needs filling. Avoid root canals though. Better to remove the tooth in that case .
Speed of breathing and breathing consciously into the belly are NOT buteyko principles. Buteyko is about reducing the volume of air breathed back to the physiological norms. I'm not saying this video isn't helpful and doesn't have some commonalities with buteyko but buteyko understood deep breathing (as we understand it in the west as belly breaths which are big) as one of the biggest drivers of chronic disease. So 'deep breathing' in the title is the opposite of what buteyko promoted. Breathing so gently that it would barely move a candle flame in front of your nose is a better way to describe ideal breathing.
You could try alternative nostril breathing to clear the obtruction. When you breath with the part that is blocked breathe in gently and even more gently on the out going breath. One feels alive after doing it.
Lovely but is there a reason you interrupt every 1.5 minutes to remind us again to breathe slowly in slowly out slowly in slowly out slowly in? Every 5 minutes might be more soothing?
I don't think you know what Buteyko breathing is... This is still Tumo/WHM. Buteyko is breathing less and less often via the nose. We don't exhale through the mouth because it releases too much CO2 which can be thought of as seats for the Oxygen. But despite all that the obvious contradiction is that success of Buteyko is measured in CP and average breathes per minute. Breathing more is 100% the opposite of Buteyko principles and the reference to the switch in sympathetic/para nervous system etc.. is a WHM objective. WHM is good for the switch but the breathing isn't exactly good training, so do the breath work for the switch, but don't think you are doing yourself good by breathing more as more is the opposite of Buteyko at its core.
Westerners are very good in putting their name label on breathing or meditation techniques used by Indian (Hindu as well as Buddhists) people for centuries. So long as it helps people, it serves its purpose. However a little humility to acknowledge the people who have give it a structured format would be appreciated.
Buteyko had his lab destroyed, funding removed and was physically beaten (which resulted in his eventual death a few years later) as his work was a massive threat to pharmaceutical profits. Some credit to him for the sacrifice made promoting his real, lifesaving discovery about breathing and how to retrain the breathing is only right. I would likely not be here now if it were not for the buteyko Method.

My body started warming up, face felt flushed and heart was thumping a bit on the exhales which made my breathing a bit jerky...is this all normal?

I took the buteyko course and we had to sign an NDA basically. This is missing an important component or 2....

Speed of breathing and breathing consciously into the belly are NOT buteyko principles. Buteyko is about reducing the volume of air breathed back to the physiological norms. I'm not saying this video isn't helpful and doesn't have some commonalities with buteyko but buteyko understood deep breathing (as we understand it in the west as belly breaths which are big) as one of the biggest drivers of chronic disease. So 'deep breathing' in the title is the opposite of what buteyko promoted. Breathing so gently that it would barely move a candle flame in front of your nose is a better way to describe ideal breathing.

I realy Hate it... one of my noseholes is most of the time blocked... i dont know how to mske it free, any ideas ?
You could try alternative nostril breathing to clear the obtruction. When you breath with the part that is blocked breathe in gently and even more gently on the out going breath. One feels alive after doing it.
Look up videos on TH-cam of Patrick McKeown demonstrating how to unblock your nose. He is one of the main advocates of Buteyko breathing
The wave sounds are very distracting 😢. Especially for ppl who are already anxious & dsyregulated. It’s too much extra noise & stimulation.
Lovely but is there a reason you interrupt every 1.5 minutes to remind us again to breathe slowly in slowly out slowly in slowly out slowly in? Every 5 minutes might be more soothing?
I don't think you know what Buteyko breathing is... This is still Tumo/WHM. Buteyko is breathing less and less often via the nose. We don't exhale through the mouth because it releases too much CO2 which can be thought of as seats for the Oxygen. But despite all that the obvious contradiction is that success of Buteyko is measured in CP and average breathes per minute. Breathing more is 100% the opposite of Buteyko principles and the reference to the switch in sympathetic/para nervous system etc.. is a WHM objective. WHM is good for the switch but the breathing isn't exactly good training, so do the breath work for the switch, but don't think you are doing yourself good by breathing more as more is the opposite of Buteyko at its core.

Westerners are very good in putting their name label on breathing or meditation techniques used by Indian (Hindu as well as Buddhists) people for centuries.
So long as it helps people, it serves its purpose. However a little humility to acknowledge the people who have give it a structured format would be appreciated.

Buteyko had his lab destroyed, funding removed and was physically beaten (which resulted in his eventual death a few years later) as his work was a massive threat to pharmaceutical profits. Some credit to him for the sacrifice made promoting his real, lifesaving discovery about breathing and how to retrain the breathing is only right. I would likely not be here now if it were not for the buteyko Method.
Confusing uncomfortable and useless. This did nothing but frustrate me.
