- Mealworms eating romanesco, dragon fruit, fish, cat grass, and tomato. I included a ton of macro footage of these time lapses so you can have a good look at the mealworms and from up close. :)
Oh, and I almost forgot, I also bought some superworms, so we can find out if they are any faster than the mealworms.
Please leave a comment, because I read each and every one of them!

mealworms are op!
AH
Mealworms are funnier
meanworms because they can eat plastic
I enjoy closing my eyes and listening to the relaxing music in your videos. Then I open my eyes, and all feelings of relaxation are gone.
Sorry about that :)
@@PhotoOwl maybe you can put the music in the description so people who came for the music could enjoy without seeing the mealworms enjoying their meal
😂😂
@@HarmonyOC all song titles are there, and always have been :)
@@PhotoOwl ok
In the year 2050 he'll be like "Two human carcasses versus 30 million mealworms" and nobody would mind because watching mealworms eat is fun
I wonder if it would be legal to donate a human corpse to this channel. I mean, I'd already like to donate my body to science when I expire.
@@PardonMe_ImDrunk you don’t even have to die just sell yourself to this channel so you can drown in bugs 🤩🤩
@@PardonMe_ImDrunk If you’re donating yours when you die, yes. But whether or not that happens depends on whether your next of kin decide to go through with it.
@@PardonMe_ImDrunkYou can, its just TH-cam guidelines would not be happy
Would they eat the bones too? Would anything identifiable be left? Asking for a friend.
You feed those worms better than most people feed their dogs!
facts
Better than most people feed their kids.
@@bobmoles4335 Yeah my kid only gets a whole raw fish once a month as a special treat
@@GlorifiedGremlin wow, he's so lucky.
These worms do more for society than most dogs.
Absolutely fascinating! I am lying in bed at 1am watching mealworms consume stuff. What an age we live in 😁
Better than watching the news 😅
I'm doing the same thing rn
The first part was literally spore during the cell stage
Me too
@@buteocks4020 YOU KNOW SPORE
4:27 I love how the wormies slowly gather around the fish once the cover gets taken off
Yea 😂
I know u didnt just call them wormies
The horde hungers
“Chaaaarge-“
@@maskingtapeeThey're just funny wormies, so
Those mealworms really seem to eat everything. I wouldn't want to sleep in a room full of them. 😄
You will definitely spend some time in a box full of them
@@feeno1188 true, unless they are cremated :P
If they'd bite, you'd definitely feel it and wake up
Luckily mealworms dont bite, superworms do.
They might just exfoliate the outer layer of your skin for you
Very interesting. How long do you think it would take them to eat a fish roughly 5'7", 145lbs?
What kind of fish
I don’t know that seems kind of SUS to me. Just saying
He's just asking for a friend, don't get weird about it guys
@@doomyboi whoever that friend is may need to move
That's a big fish 😅
The way you picked up the mealworms just got me calling my therapist
The way he also put them to the camera too
it should be a warcrime to hold mealworms
@@dfsahosdjhfouaishdfoiuhsdofiuhIt's not that bad. I would eat them in a survival situation.
@@dfsahosdjhfouaishdfoiuhsdofiuh um why????? i would never try to make anyone with a bug phobia uncomfortable, but why you gotta insult us just because we're not afraid to hold beetle larvae, literally cute little harmless baby beetles.
They are cute and harmless, just cute wormies
The way you stir the mealworms with a wooden spoon like pasta or soup made me smile a little bit
I know it's probably to encourage them to move around or move some closer to the food so they notice it, but I thought it was kinda funny lol
Those were some bad ass opening shots. I liked the transitions. That was pretty gnarly how they ate that fish.
Oh yeah, I worked long on those cinematic shots, (i know they are not too cinematic, but for a time lapse video...) :D
I'm happy you liked it!
As a mealworm, I can confirm we had a fantastic feast
Who gave the meal worms the wifi-password?
Bahahahahha
Do you also scam your fellow mealworm?
You . are . not . a . mealworm!
@@strawberrynyyxit’s a joke
Most interesting thing to me is how the dragon fruit kept its color for like 3 days. Feels like if I leave an apple slice out it turns brown in like an hour.
but those are always new layers since the outest layers get eaten opposed to an apple slice just sitting there
when it comes to apples it starts to brown dew to oxygen being present in cells, polyphenol oxidase enzymes in the chloroplasts rapidly oxidize phenolic compounds naturally present in the apple tissues to o-quinones, colorless precursors to brown colored secondary products.
@@dj.nightmare9828 I like your funny words magic man
(But as an actual nerd thank you for the explanation, I always wondered exactly what was oxidizing)
thats how it got its name. it was dragon it out
@@jebes909090Bravo. I love it.
5:24 whoa, they ate *everything* , I expected that the would leave bones remaining with a few pieces of dried fish skin, but they eat the bones as well, that's fascinating!
Makes sense since they're just soft cartilage, not cancellous bone.
@@kevindavis5966 interesting
@@kevindavis5966 Yea...soon as I saw them eat the scales, I knew the cartilage skeleton would be as well.
Mealworms use every part of the animal. Very eco conscious.
@@ThecompanyPresident mhm
Damn you feeding your pets really quality stuff :D
I fed them wagyu steak. Twice
@@PhotoOwl Which pets do you have?
@@geminievil you saw them in the video
What do you do with the mealworms at the end of the day? Do you let them grow into beetles, release them outside, feed them to other animals, etc.?
*Keep.*
Mealworms and super worms can be invasive so definitely don’t release them. Actually releasing any kind of pet / feeder in to the wild is bad bc 1. The outside environment usually isn’t suitable for them so they die 2. Worse the environment is super suitable for them and they become invasive and outcompete native species 3. They can spread disease to native species
He eats them, circle of life my bro.
This is the friendliest looking horror movie I’ve seen today.
you know i've always wondered what you do with all the meal worms after. don't they pupate into beetles?
He feed them to bird, nutritious bird food😁
I kind of assumed they let them breed so they always have a constant supply. I used to have a pet that ate mealworms and that's what I ended up doing. Ended up with far more than I could use though.
They turn into caterpillar like things then turn into black beetles
@@aka5😂
@@aka5 aw hell nah
“I stir them gently so they all get a bite” How kind of you!
Interesting that the mealworms seemed to leave the dragon fruit seeds alone. It could be a good method to get just the seeds, kind of like how they use beetles to clean skeletons.
Took me a while to realize i was just watching worms have lunch
6:43 the forbidden spaghetti
Its kind of amazing to see the natural decay of foods when thousands of little things are eating it.
These mealworms and superworms are eating healthier than me and I love it
4:44
*new fear unlocked*
What I like about watching photo owl videos is knowing that there are loads of other time lapse videos being recorded at the same time.
I am so glad I found this channel. You are one of my favorite timelapse maker! Keep it up!
1) Shows worms who can eat and digest literally anything
2) Dips his hand into 10000 of this worms
It's like watching my teenage son and his friends raid my refrigerator.
LMFAO
For a sec there I thought you were gonna make the mealworms eat the glass bowl to get to the fish 😆
I wouldn't know whether to impressed or scared if the pulled it off.
5:30...you would swear that the mealworms were all happily groaning and belching afterward.
Okay it's actually kind of cute the way they grab and pull on the food as hard as they can with their wriggly little Caterpie stubs. It's like watching a baby trying to crawl or something. Little guys are trying their best.
It's good to see you keep your mealworms well fed and healthy
Well these mealworms has a good lunch.
Also I love how to stirred them so they can all have a taste. How generous.
nice video! I am a really big fan of these time lapse
Thanks a lot!
These videos are so relaxing to watch for some reason. I'm watching this as I'm having some rice soup.
Dude pouring meal/super worms like water😂 2:22
Fish eat worm, worm eat fish. Badda-bing baby.
I find these videos so fascinating I'm curious what they would do with honestly like a deer head and personally I think the meal worms make the best work of the stuff superworms are lazy😂
I've never hated and loved a video so much
I know when I've thrown stuff in with my morio worm feeders, it is practically gone in record time. Is amazing to see, plus knowing they've eaten well, so my reptiles & arachnids will be getting the extra nutrition from them, makes it an even better experience.
The Mafia, who is trying to get rid of a corpse: Interesting.
for some reason the measuring cup full of mealworms made me laugh, so you earned a sub. thank you
i love the fact that you are consistent in your work even if they don't subscribe
3:00 why was that so wholesome?-
If mealworms actually moved that fast they would be terrifying
Wow! Really interesting to see what they can eat.
Are they omnivores?
I have Tenebrio Molitor in my room. They are so easy to take care of.
There are some things they don't/can't eat. These are my finds so far: Honey, fat, wagyu beef is so-so, they don't like it, very salty things.
The Worms “what is our human dad bringing for us today?😂😂
Congrats! Great video as allways.🙏🏻✌🏻
super cool seeing how they tend to go for the eyes / gills :) it's fascinating
And horrifying!
10.000 mealworms vs 100.000 army ants.
Ok i have to ask, do you have the worms because of your youtube channel or do you have another reason for having them?
Another reason, they are collecting and feeding the worms to create an army. This army will then be trained to take down the world's largest countries. Eating, destroying everything in their path. There will be a new worm order.
The answer... Is yes.
These videos really make me itch... I can't stop watching them though.
Amazing creatures both of them, I like mealworms better because their use cases are more practical and they are slightly cuter in my opinion
So soothing. Thanks for feeding these incredible worms.
I really liked the song you used in the second half of the video, you should use it more. It fits the video really well
I will probably reuse that song again :)
Honestly, it's surprise that they don't eat each other
1:20 THE QUALITY AH
Mealworms eating a fish: "At long last, gentlemen... vengeance is ours!"
Lol😂😊
What do you do with the mealworms when they mature?
Feed them to the mealworms
Indian ants are way more powerful and faster than these worms 😂😂😂
1:50 looks like 2 min noodles 🍜
Note to self, do not die in a pit of worms if you want to have an open casket funeral. Or even have a body to put in a casket for that matter.
the sizzling sounds they make makes me drool
The sizzling sound is a sign that the mealworms are enjoying their food
1 mealworm: defeated by lizard
1 lizard: defeated by this guys weird obsession of mealworms
Could you hypothetically use them to dispose of human flesh? And how long would it take? Female body around 135 lbs 5 ft 3”.
Thats... oddly specific m8
Imagine randomly getting a treat of your lifetime just for a video 😩😩....lucky worms
yes yes. put the worms so close to the camera like im going to eat worms now..
I get why the chill classic like music, but some metal fits in my head XD just a bit closer.
😆👍
i don’t want to imagine the smell
they don't smell just the wet frass
Nice way to dispose of kitchen trash lol
Next time add some dye to the meal in order to see which worm didn't get its bite🙂
Oh, that's a good idea!
at the beginning of the video, i saw a strange looking vegetable that has so many bumps on it
Considering mealworms are a great and underutilized food source that I hope we do more with in the future, I hope they get fed this well!
This is so visceral! This makes me imagine some sci-fi or fantasy setting where there's a pit of hyperaggressive worms below some perilous bridge or something. One party member says something like "oh, at least theres something soft to catch us if we fall!" And a more experienced party member goes "i wouldnt be so sure" and tossed a ration into the pit to show it being devoured instantly, like this in extreme fast forward
Would mealworms try and eat your hand if you laid it there perfectly still?
They surely would
Mealworms are how the world will end
Lmao why did I think the fish was in a ball of ice 💀
I had no idea someone will mistake the glass bolw for ice :D
Same, I was looking at it and wondering why would anyone freeze a fish in a bowl of water and it's gonna take a very long time for hungry worms to let it thaw.
"Yes I'd like to buy 5 liters of mealworms"
The only guy we know and love who keeps mealworms as pets (and coworkers), and touches them. And feeds them romanesco, which was kinda cruel as I think it is indigestable. 😆
How could I not like them?? :D Btw have you ever tried romanesco? It's nice
Romanesco is actually a lot easier to digest than other types of cabbage, and it also looks super cool
@@saveoursquirrels4241 Yep! Romanesco's fractal appearance is truly mesmerizing. It's like a work of art from mother nature. Maybe the most mathematical veggie?!
@@PhotoOwl I have tried it! Had the worst indigestion in ten years!! But it is super cool looking, I mean....fractal food? How can you NOT try it??
@@saveoursquirrels4241 It does! Amazing looking.
The starts of the fish one gave me an idea! Fish or other things in clear jell-o!
You know the mealworms are just having a GRAND time!
Perfect camera work!
Them mealworms honestly look pretty damn tasty next to those tomatoes for some reason
hip hop music over mealworms eating goes craaazzzyyyy
They ate an entire frickin fish 🐟💀
yup, even some of the fish bones
1:38 We did it brothers! We slew the dragon!............fruit!
Now I know why they’re called MEAL WORMS
Actually I wanted to play video games after a long hard day of work outside in the rain, instead I am watching the 4th video of mealworms eating stuff. Soo relaxing
Great video! How many meal worms would you need to eat a fish that’s about 6’2 180lbs?
Watching the mealworms crawling into the gills of the fish and literally eating in inside out meade me so uneasy but its so cool at the same time
2:00 idk why but that kinda looks like picking up a large portion of noodles 😭
Thank you for feeding animals. You've got a great heart sir. And thanks Angelina&Brad for adopting children
All they know is eat.
yes, mealworms are definitely expert eaters!
One time as a kid i was about to
Eat some instant oatmeal and the
Package had mealworms in it .
This was like spring of 2000
quack
How did I get here? Now I'm all itchy and shit at work.
I got a idea lets put a superworm ALIVE to those worms or what mealworms yea 5:10 EW
Worms so robust, they'll eat anything. Worms so dumb, they don't realize they can just eat each other.
Life is incredible, God is magnificent.
“I stir them gently so they all get a bite”
Bro thats so fucking cute 🥺
