To fine tune the point selection Mask (timestamp: 20:20) you should change the "Radius" parameter depending on your model size. I used the Default 100cm and it appears it's too big.

If you are using c4d 2023, the bend deformer had keep length turned off, this way you will not see folds map, simply enable keep length and all is gold.

Wow, i learned about the tension tag today. Thank you. Very powerful and versatile tag!
is there also a way to turn curvature into a procedural vertex map in a similar fashion?

    • @noseman

That exists in Variable Tags. To see it, make an object (editable) add a vertex map Tag, and drag the Object itself in the Field List. You get the option in the Layer Tab for "Points, Surface, Volume & Curvature". Just set it to Curvature and adjust the Radius.

    Big thanks! It's what I need )
Can I get the same effect with octane materials? How to do this?

15:46 I don't understand why we should add a connect object/SubSurface to the cylinder so the displacement deformer placed as sibling can modify the cylinder mesh..
Hope my question is clear xD

to stop the Displacer from affecting the Tension Tag. Look at 15:18 and see that the Displacer is causing the Fold Vertex Map to change (it's adding noise). We don't want that. Essentially the Connect (or SDS) breaks the "feedback loop"

@@nosemanthanks for responding 🙏..so if I understand this well the tension tag will look for stretching/squizing polygons caused by neighbours and child deformers .. so the connect object will break this feedback loop because the tension tag will no longer consider the displacement deformer to refresh the Vertex maps ( the displacement deformer is not a neighbour or a child anymore)..
Edit : Or maybe it's not a hearchy problem maybe just because generators break feedback loops?
thanks again for your time ❤🙏
