Amneris - Sherie Rene Scott
Radames - Adam Pascal
Music by Elton John and Lyrics by Tim Rice
(Every Story Is A Love Story)
Amneris:
Every story, tale or memoir
Every saga or romance
Whether true or fabricated
Whether planned or happenstance
Whether sweeping through the ages
Casting centuries aside
Or a hurried brief recital
Just a thirty-minute ride
Whether bright or melancholy
Rough and ready, finely spun
Whether with a thousand players
Or a lonely cast of one
Every story, new or ancient
Bagatelle or work of art
All are tales of human failing
All are tales of love at heart
This is the story
Of a love that flourished
In a time of hate
Of lovers no tyranny could separate
Love set into motion on the Nile's shore
Destiny ignited by an act of war
Egypt saw the mighty river as its very heart and soul
Source of life for all her people
That only Egypt could control
Destruction of her southern neighbor justified
Nubia exploited, left with little more than pride
(Fortune Favors the Brave)
Soldiers:
Oh, Oh
Fortune Favors the Brave
Oh, Oh
Fortune Favors the Brave
Radames:
We have swept to glory,
Egypt's mastery expands
From the Nile's northern most delta
To the dry, dry southern sands
The more we find, the more we see,
The more we come to learn
The more that we explore,
The more we shall return
Soldiers:
Oh, oh
Fortune favors the brave
Radames:
It's all worked out, my road is clear
The lines of latitude extend
Way beyond my wildest dreams
Toward some great triumphant end
We seize the day
We turned the tide
We touched the stars
We mocked the grave
We moved into uncharted lands
Radames & Soldiers:
Fortune favors the brave
Radames:
The more we find, the more we see
The more we come to learn
The more that we explore
The more we shall return
Nothing is an accident
We are free to have it all
We are what we want to be
It's in ourselves to rise or fall
This is easy to believe
When distant places call to me
It's harder from the palace yard
Fortune favors the free
Soldiers:
Oh, oh
Radames:
Fortune favors the young!
Soldiers:
Oh, oh
Radames:
Fortune favors the brave!
This needs to become a movie musical. This music is too fierce!
It was suppose to ..twice...once it was suppose to be a cartoon but it didn't happen and a live action film which was rumoured to star beyonce and Christina Aguilera ...no idea what happened with that one
They ended up doing "Into the Woods" instead.
yeh, no that would be shit
Jamila A. White This would be a wonderful Disney Princess movie, I think.
If there was an animated movie version of Aida, then Aida and Amneris would be official Disney princesses
My sister saw the original cast on Broadway and said she cried when Adam started singing because he sounded so good.
I went with my chorus class opening night. It was AMAZING! The cast was Phenominal! I'm sad that it's no longer on Broadway.
Same!!! This play and and original cast is my all time favorite play ever.

Saw him. Original Cast was amazing.
Jealous
Oh the museum scene. Amazingness it is. Amneris has a beautiful voice
I love this song, I've never seen this musical but the song is so good. And it's true too because every story really is a love story of some sort, whether it is between romantic lovers or family members or platonic friends. Love makes the world go 'round.

god it's been about 5 years since I saw this musical and I still remember all the words as Adam Pascal pounded them out onstage. He was AMAZING!! when I first saw this
I read on Wikipedia (soooo reliable i know) that Disney were supposed to adapt this with Beyoncé as Aida & Christina Aguilera as Amneris, but nothing happened...don't know how I'd feel about that casting but it would definitely make an amazing animation!
This was the musical back my freshman year of high school.
My school is doing this show now and I'm playing Radames
+Jean Reyes break a leg on opening night.
lol good luck😂😂😂
Jean Reyes Our school is doing this in April and I want Radames
Robert Engel I hope you get it. It was a super fun role to play
Jean Reyes thanks!! I need to get into shape if I want to be him however
I'm so pumped for this scene, I found out yesterday that i'll be in the museum at the start. Then i'll get captured by the soldiers and be a slave. FUN!
Fortune doesn't favor the brave, it favors the prepared, dahling.
My school just totally did this musical.
It was brilliant.
Tim Rice AND Elton John?
Amazing combo.
GO CAT
just took part in this musicl today for my school
I watched the play last year for a field trip btw I was in 8 grade but this song really caught my eye love it
I just saw this production last Saturday in Kansas City, Mo at the Kaufmann Center for Performing Arts. It was phenomenal.
I just love this musical, it is such a beautiful story. I cried so hard. Elton John out done himself.
I love this musical. I was on a set design crew for it.
My first time in New York, on my first night there I went to see my first ever Broadway show. It was this show in the summer of 2000 and I saw the original cast perform it. Not knowing anything about the show before hand made it all the more magical as I watched the museum set rip away and become a ship blasting down the Nile, as I hear the distinctive wail of Adam Pascal begin what is still, to this day, one of my favorite show tunes of all time. It was spectacular in every possible way.
lol we did this last year for our school musical i was a nubian but i loved it, our Radames was a total heart throb and our Aida was a Babe lol and so was our Amneris.
I love "Every Story is a Love Story" it is so beautiful!
I wish I could sing like her!!!!
Ahh, I loved doing this musical. I was a soldier and had two understudy roles. I absolutely loved being in the "squad" of soldiers.
My high school was the first in the nation to do this musical - it was incredible.
Every story always was a love story... And fortune does favor the brave. Combine the two and well... Miracles are possible.
My high school did this musical last year, and it was one of the best things I've ever done.
Fortune favours the beautiful
AU CONTRAIRE!
...just me? okay
I understood that reference...
MY ONLY CRIME
WAS *L O V E*
I love this play, I also love how you can tell just by the melody of the song whether it is to be taken seriously or to just have fun with it.
I saw this show done by Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, at the Florida Thespian Conference. I was completely blown away by the set, the acting, the singing, the cast, the coreography. They literally changed my life. I cannot believe how much dedication they put into it. I cried so much. The entire show was so convincing. Even when part of the set almost fell on Radames, they blew it off and you couldnt tell anything went wrong, that is true passion, and dedication, and acting. I loved it!!
Best show at ITF this year!! Loved it!
I just got home from an audition where we were taught and sang this piece and I have such a headache now. Great music, hard to sing.
my school did this and it was one of the best shows weve done. it was a fun play to do :) i also love how it is written
Amazing play! One of my favorites!
I love this play and soundtrack is unbelievable!!! To have these voices would be amazing!
I love this musical su much! There's so much amazing music! And "Fortuna Favors The Brave" is my favourite.
I saw this musical a few days ago... Been addicted since! =)
My kid's high school did this recently. Amazing!
saw this while in chicago last month prettty good
We are doing this musical in my school!! Woooo!
The guy who sang solo is Adam Pascal, who was Roger in RENT. The guy who played Fiyero, Norbert Leo Butz, was a replacfement or understudy for Roger at some point during RENT's run, so they are somewhat similar (but not THAT much, imo :3)
Fun sidenote: Sherie Rene Scott, Amneris, replaced Idina Menzel for Maureen in RENT. Guess who was a replacement Amneris?
I watched my school's performance of this last night. It was amazing and now I'm addicted to the songs. Have to buy the album now! :)
Did this play last year and it was amazing, it was fun playing the music as well
I luv this song!!! 😍😍😍
This should musical totally be made into an animated Disney movie!!!

My school just finished wit strike for this show =( i can't believe were done wit the show! Awsome job guys!!
my school is doing aida right now...its an amazing story and play!
This is the solo I want!
yes-the opera was the basis for the broadway show. :)
adam pascal.. right on
Amazing Song every!
I believe that this should have stayed for longer on Broadway. It's a shame how people either loved or hated it. Personally, I am a fan of Elton John's orchestration. The addition of modern instruments helps bridge the gap between the "elite" and the youth.
Doing this at our school this year. Can't wait!
We're singing this in chorus I got the Amneris solo that goes "This is the story
Of a love that flourished
In a time of hate" :) As my teacher says, I can "Tear it up" lol. Can't wait :D
hehe i got the front row for this play, and i saw everything and i mean EVERYTHING D:
Showing successfully in Rangiora New Zealand at the moment. Powerful ....
I love this song, i actually just got this part (amneris) in my school play ;)
Im performing this for my school's Cabaret night!!
I didn't know Adam pascal was in this!!
CAPA high school is doing this play cant wait
nice music
I've never seen or heard of this play before. I saw a music book of it on my theater teacher's desk. (We didn't do Aida that year. Ended up doing Sweeney Todd and it was awesome) Well one thing I noticed was that Elton John and Tim Rice were the music writers. Being a big fan of The Lion King I had to check this out. And:
I think I just became a fan of another musical.
I think they could handle it. Disney has tackled some of the most horrific stories I've known (e.g. Hunchback: I actually could not bear to read all of it, but the movie was great). As in Hunchback, there are ideas here -- the kind you feel, not the kind you philosophize about -- that deserve more attention. They could totally get that across (at least for the kids) without the main characters dying; I think they managed it with Hugo's story, which ends like 1984 and really pisses me off.
Cello 1 in the pit orchestra. Can't wait!
Omg, I'm doing my first performance of this with my drama group in a few hours!
That's where I saw it too!!!
Way to go teacher!
in my small town we are having the play...and i'm trying out for Amneris.. I CANT WAIT!!!!! :D
I am super excited my school is doing this next year!!
Bring it back to
Broadway! Same cast as in 2001 please!
fun song. Funny though, my school did it a few years ago and I had just come from a really lame school, and when I heard the first half of it I thought the play would suck, but it was awesome!
For the Win
adam pascal is my idol atm,
This song is my audition for Radames at my school, I think I can do alright except for the last "brave"... Adam is a beast.
i have seen this on bbroadway and i wish they would come out with a movie bc its really good
@elotello on an slightly related note, Adam Paschal played Roger in the musical "Rent," which is based on the opera "La Boheme"
The best virsion of this show was at the international thespian festival!
I have not seen the musical yet I have seen the original opera that this musical is based off of!
Hello there! ^_^ Yes, I am planning on posting the rest of the songs as soon as I can...but I just haven't found the time to post them!!! I'm sorry!! :''(
but i promise to post them ASAP!!!
~Queen Mab
(thanx 4 subscribing BTW! ^^)
I was Amanosoro in my theater groups performance!
I saw you guys at ITF!!!! It was incredible!!!
ive got to see this on broadway again
Proud soldier!
2:28
MY FAVORITE PART
im high school is doing this and auditioning using this song!! :)
2:28 Go 'head, mama! Sing it gurl! THIS is the beginning of the show!!
Adam Pascal is the reason this musical is so great... Just sayin :P
@IamQueenMab They actually halted the production of the animated show because Disney had other movies they were working on so they put it on hold but then Elton John and Tim Rice spoke with Disney and got the info, the rights, and the work they had done for the movie with the intentions of making it into a musical for broadway, Disney loved the idea and once it got on broadway Disney decided not to make the animated movie.
The GA Thespian Conference version was just as impressive!
I think it should be a movie though. It's a beautiful story and I'm sure Disney would do a great job on the animation.
The way Adam sings seems like it hurts
@RisingStar42 well she kind of acts like the narrator in this part but it's Amneris (Sherie Rene Scott in this recording) who sings
The auditions for this play is next week. Man, I hope i get Amneris!
fortune favorsss the braveeeeeee
@AwwhNahhh I'm pretty sure it happened because Logan voluntarily sat second, leaving first as the only open chair... there were no auditions...
@dropdead4 That because it IS the man who played roger from rent. Adam Pascal is in both fo these . . hes so talented
@serenadeyuki Why, yes, it is! He plays Radames
Today is the last performance of this at my show ;_;
I'M GOING TO MISS BEING THE PHARAOH SO MUCH
No, it was actually a Disney musical produced by Disney. I'm not just saying it was because it was composed by elton john.
@elotello This aint opera, This is GOOD SHIT.
