A thoroughly satisfying build. Condensed where it had to be but detailed enough to give the viewer a sense of the entire car design and construction. Ant has a great skill in explaining the small component builds and then one by one, merging them all into a highly anticipated whole. A great story with a beautiful end. I hope we get to see Ant Anstead's ideas for a Lotus very soon!
Hi Ant. For me, you could not have picked a better car to build. I've been an Alfa fan since 1963. I'm pretty sure that was before you were born. I very much enjoy watching someone who takes pride in their work and dedication to do it the right way. Thank you for these awesome videos.
Absolutely Awesome!! All of us who have restored cars all know the feeling when you drive your handy work for the 1st time after you have invested many hours! This car is beautiful! And you built it from Scratch!! Kudos to you Ant!
Ant Anstead just want to congratulate you....you are a great replacement for Young Ed. I Like Ed lots but you do a great job teaching mechanics and I'm certain Ed will be happy you have kept the workshop clips a big part of the show. I'm 53 and only passed my test three years ago,,, I hate new cars so drive cheap old (1999) 1 litre polo so I can do all the work myself to save on garage bills, learn, and if I screw up it doesn';t matter! Done engine swaps. Head gaskets, timing belts. water pump and clutch, and burnt exhaust valve replacement so far. next job valve seals! Also restoring my Dads AC 2 litre saloon. Keep doing a great job mate!
Well done Ant so glad you have found your niche.Stay around, all us petrol heads need to see you and your new projects.Well done.We can all see that you put a lot of feeling and emotion into this project.Keep on keeping on.
1:04 Nice jab there Ant. There was an article in my news feed yesterday about how he is dealing with social media toxicity. Grow up people. Never imagined so many "car guys" would sound like a bunch of old housewives. Happy anniversary and congratulations on the build. "Instant" classic. Hope they use it in the next James Bond film.
Absolute brilliant!!! Excelent project and better result! I never had followed a car construction ever. Such a beautiful classic car...! Go Ant and crew! Congratulation every body
Hello Mr Anstead. I don´t know if you read this sometime, but as an argentinian I´m so proud you made a replica of a car from one of my favorite sportsman from my country: Juan Manuel Fangio. And when I knew you are a fan from him, it made my eyes got wet. Even Mr Fangio was born the same date as I (just the date not the year): June/24. If you have some time left over, I would suggest you to watch the videos of the epic jurney Mr Fangio, as a team leader, did back in 1969 when 3 argentinian developed cars went to Nürberging and almost won the 84 hours race. Those cars were named "Torino" and was produced in our country with an american platform and a "Pininfarina" body. I wish you the best of luck in your future project. I´m a great fan of you and your work. Cheers from northeast patagonia, Argentina.
Search TH-cam for 'Fangio Onboard' to see him in action at Modena in 1957. The casual way he places his goggles over his face after he's left the pits and the sheer skill at speed around the track is breathtaking. Ant's car looks just like the real thing as well! Respect to all.
Ok, since im only 14, im gonna build an off-road buggy from scratch. I have two project on hand, but boy do I want to make something totally from 0. Thank you Ant for the inspiration, and I love your shows. I hope you have a good day if you see this. :)
Well done to ant and all the crew I enjoyed ever minute of footage There was no silly stuff Just ant wants to make a car with a film crew Thanks for the upload Pete
I unsubbed Wheeler Dealers when Ed China left, but I resubbed because of this build. Great Job Ant! Congrats to you, building your dream Alfa! Really, you rock!!!
BELLISSIMA!!!!. Love it!!. "Congratulations Ant 🎊". Please do not let Mike B go anywhere near it 😂. He might be even flog it when you're not looking 😂. Great job Sir, enjoy. Cheers 🥂.
in around1953/4 I had a Dinky model of a car like this. Placing my thumb on the bonnet with one flick I could propel it from one side of the school play ground to the other (appox 100ft) and it was still moving fast when it hit the grass.
One of the most beautiful car in the world, Italian DNA, italian engine.... Alfa Romeo... good work Ant, please...in future make more Alfa Romeo hommage race car...or show car...one of all... the 33 Stradale with a Montreal Engine... THE MOST BEAUTIFULL CAR EVERY MADE!
Pretty cocky ? I would suggest that he is an unsufferably arrogant, narcissistic and intolerant prig. And skills ? My sixth sense, on seeing the way he handles spanners & other workshop hand tools, suggests he is far from a hand- on artisan, and possessed of little skill beyond a little imagination and perhaps a tertiary qualification in interior design (and/or drama), and has probably left the bulk of the dirty construction work to other long suffering 'team' members . Icould be wrong ,of course .There is no way that he could have produced such a remarkable confection alone in 12 weeks .The end result is remarkable in itself ,but how tragic that a 1951 MGTD had to forfeit it's life in order to satisfy his whim .I hope the MG Car Club has voiced it's concerns, rebuked and taken him to task ,. As a mid septuagenarian with a strikingly elegant early 50's V8 engined 2 seater Bentley MkV1 spl. to my credit ,and latterly a 38/250 SSK Merc evocation on a beautiful mid thirties un-bodied Heavy Straight Eight chassis, all built to traditional coachbuilding standards , I think I am as justified as the next man to pass an unprejudiced opinion ...!!! One man's meat is another man's 'poisson'. Plagiary is the firmest form of flattery ...and fraud ...
Birashanuman A most eloquent reply and as interesting as ever I’ve received. I was being kind and the man can certainly weld and fabricate . Like all reality TV there will be lots of fakery behind the finished article. I’m just a poor boy from a poor family and run an 04 Porsche and an 01 TT Quattro for 🏴winters . Yours sound sublime 🙏
Congratulations Ant, a fantastic job. Only one comment concerns the engine: you used a 2000cc 4-cylinder from the spider, to be more compliant with the original engine, you could have used the engine of the alfa romeo 2600 sprint (1963-64). A 2600cc six-cylinder.
Stunning, a great build. Really enjoyed watching your dream evolve into a living beast. Looking forward to seeing the Lotus... maybe a Grand Prix replica from the true open wheeled days👍
The yellow and blue nose was Fangio’s livery. Those were the Argentine colors when cars were identified that way (such as British green, red for Italy, silver for Germany and so on).
Ant, amico 6 grande ti ammiro molto, e in questo momento su Motor Tread ti sto seguendo il miglior meccanico e costruttore che ho conosciuto ti abbraccio❤️👍💯Niko Italia 🇮🇹
Congratulations, great project. Do something similar, that is a two seater, sport car, based on the formula on you just made. Love new technology with old appearance
Beautiful replica of a true classic. Well done Ant I take my hat off to your skills in building this car. One question. Why did you use that MG chassis rather than scratch build one?
Been great watching this thing come to life, what a beautiful thing. This paired with Ant's passion for all things petrol, has made a great little mini-series. Would love to see a detailed (a car is born style) series on his next build.
I did this when a 15 year old in1954 stripping down to every nut and bolt Whitbread lorry's, engine stripped, suspension stripped, paraffin wash, sand blaster and an half inch deep of solid grease on the floors etc and a respray, at Coaches and Components Holloway Road Islington

No drama, no whinges, no excuses, a very watchable project, looking forward to the next.
Every car lover watching wishes they were you with your talent and abilities. This is great and I applaud you achieving your dream. Great job!
Awesome job. The car looks amazing and sounds beautifully. Great tribute to the one's best of all time. "Carreras son carreras"

See your point...as long as he's associated with Mike brewer...im afraid haters are gonna hate...o personally think he's ok...can't stand brewer

Absolutely brilliant Ant, you and the team must have had such a buzz when you finished the car, well done 👍👍👍👍👌👌👌👌👏👏👏👏👏🇬🇧.
Juan Manuel Fangio is very proud of you as well Ant!!! Great piece of art.. You are something else man!!
That is a lot of work and a lot of skill to create that car, all made to look easy. Plus the show is superb capturing everything we (I) want to see,
Fabulous build Ant! Looking forward to seeing the next one.....
Please make a 3 or 4 hour documentarie or movie of this project complete
There is a whole series of him building this car: Ant Anstead Master Mechanic. It is on Motortrendondemand.com
That bird's eye view of the parts was worth the effort. Absolute art.
As is the car itself.
Deberian pasar los programas completos. Habemos muchos seguidores de este programa. Saludos desde Mexico.
I love Ant he's so likeable cos he just loves everything about cars his intensity- " this is the grommet!..."
man, I never was one of the guys who hated on him cause he is not edd, but even so - this makes me respect him even more than I already did.
I'm speechless Ant...your car is a testament to your foresight, determination and skills. OMG...you lucky man. FORZA ALFA.
Hey, this project has had me tuning in every week throughout the build and final completion. Well done on the Alpha 158
you need a rollcage
Renee needs you to get a rollcage
NICE btw. Renee has always been gorgeous!
and Renee is an UPGRADE from Christina!
Can we keep it about the Alpha 158 build.
Congratulations Ant and team members! Please coming up next with another project
Congratulations Ant. Words will not do your creation justice. Beautiful to say the least. Hopefully a Lotus 11 or 23?
Finally, a car show that I can finally watch and enjoy!
That's an Alfeta. The yellow-blue nose are Argentina's F1 colors ( Thus Fangio )
Well done to ant and all the crew
I enjoyed ever minute of footage
There was no silly stuff
Just ant wants to make a car with a film crew
Thanks for the upload
Pete
I unsubbed Wheeler Dealers when Ed China left, but I resubbed because of this build. Great Job Ant! Congrats to you, building your dream Alfa! Really, you rock!!!
Absolutely beautiful. Love the vintage look, just awesome. Congrats!
Outstanding!! Really enjoyed watching this from start to finish! Love your pure joy in the experience. Great job Ant!!
BELLISSIMA!!!!. Love it!!. "Congratulations Ant 🎊". Please do not let Mike B go anywhere near it 😂. He might be even flog it when you're not looking 😂. Great job Sir, enjoy. Cheers 🥂.
Ant, you make it look so simple...what an achievement and great looking beauty it is! Can't wait to see your next project!!! 😎
I wonder how long it took before Ant wanted to kill the hustler.
Beautiful! I sure wish we could have seen A LOT more of the actual build.
This might be a retirement gift to myself.
This is the best episode, amazing to see such a cool project !
in around1953/4 I had a Dinky model of a car like this. Placing my thumb on the bonnet with one flick I could propel it from one side of the school play ground to the other (appox 100ft) and it was still moving fast when it hit the grass.
Awesome recreation of a classic design. All the parts spread on the ground before final assembly makes it seem like a high end kit car being revealed.
Congratulations. Love to see someone that happy with what they have done.
Ant you have smashed it bro.. your the best

Bravo Ant! Questa è una bella e grande soddisfazione. Complimenti!
This guy is such a great, talented mechanic. Please watch his other show called "For the love of cars".
Wow, she's absolutely astounding. They're aren't enough adjectives to describe this F1 race car. Ant ya built a museum peace of art.
Well done Ant. Beautiful car. Great job. Keep it up.
The car turned out AWESOME Great job
Well done mate! Beautifully done and it looks like a blast to drive. 👍👍👍👍👍
It’s right to be proud , you are pretty cocky but you back that up with skills . It’s epic and worth all that blood sweat and beers , well done 👍

I wish that more kits like this were available, I’m honestly shocked that there isn’t.

still watching this on Discovery you are so amazing!

Looking good ant it was definitely worth the wait so a big well done from your UK watcher
Amazing to build that from scratch , just incredible
Congratulations!!! It is beautiful.
Ant, amico 6 grande ti ammiro molto, e in questo momento su Motor Tread ti sto seguendo il miglior meccanico e costruttore che ho conosciuto ti abbraccio❤️👍💯Niko Italia 🇮🇹
It looks sublime.
Congratulations on the build.
Fit & finish looks awesome! Hope to see it in the flesh some day.
Brilliant!. Engineering excellance!. So jealous of his skills!. Want one!....
When is it going into production. It would sell like hot cakes.
Great car well done to all involved the only downer was seeing Brewer.
It's thanks to Mike Brewer that programmes like this exist, credit where credits due!
What a fun project to watch! Thanks Ant!
Congrats to all of you! Beautiful car project. I'm already curious for the new (Lotus) project!
Que par de leyendas. Y Ant el mejor mecánico y constructor de carros que he visto en mi vida. Saludos desde Costa Rica 🇨🇷🇨🇷🇨🇷🇨🇷🇨🇷
Lotus Lotus lotus.
Lots of trouble usually serious.
I'm really looking forward to seeing this.
What do you reckon, a Lotus 11? 23?
Perfect, even his shoes match the seats.
Absolutely Glorious!!!!
Well done Ant. EXCELLENT
Great crew shot at the end.
Fangio: Hold my beer...
SUPERB in every way and every angle.
Well done, Ant. Your car is mega!
Oh, and those overhead drone shots were absolutely brilli *CRASH*
Never mind...
It’s an Antalfa
Antifa? 😳😂
Ant-Falfa
If you ask me it is an ALFANT HOMEO
congratulations. kindly release the blueprints, or make a huge unedited do
documentary from start to finish, i have to copy this project.
Great job Ant 👍🙋♂️
Congratulations, great project. Do something similar, that is a two seater, sport car, based on the formula on you just made. Love new technology with old appearance
Beautiful replica of a true classic. Well done Ant I take my hat off to your skills in building this car. One question. Why did you use that MG chassis rather than scratch build one?
Really great project. Cool engineering! The problem with the videos is way too much talk and not enough spanners.
I can’t wait to see what Ant makes ❤
Great car, great fun watching you build it! Please consider chroming the exhaust - the black color is kind of jarring against the red body...
ten out of ten. Fantastic.
Tony
Good job. It's beautiful! I hope the next car is a 60's lotus F1 racer.
Looks nice and the exhaust sounds great having had several Alfas with that 2 litre engine. I wonder what it does from 0-60 ?
Totally RIGHTEOUS, Dude...
Congratulations on a beautiful looking automobile. I take my hat off to you congratulations once again.
Fantastic - just fantastic!
It needs an Atom Ant in an Alfa t-shirt on it someplace.
Turned out great. Has half the power to weight of the real thing. Two words. Super. Charger.
Ant, great car, well done.
That project was great, a pleasure to see the whole process, that's talent, not to put audio nonsense and bad taste paint on an expensive car
Been great watching this thing come to life, what a beautiful thing. This paired with Ant's passion for all things petrol, has made a great little mini-series. Would love to see a detailed (a car is born style) series on his next build.
well done give us more
Brilliant, well done.
Great job!!!
Amazing work. And to have it done so quick. Great series very easy watched. Lotus... Elan retropower?🤔😁
This is a beauty, I want one!
Great job, congrats. This leaves me speechless.
