    I really love how you don’t call 500$ budget like some viewers who think that 700$ is “budget”

      Same. It's crazy how "entry level" cameras are $1000 now. It's like the camera companies didn't get the e-mail that there's been a worldwide financial collapse.

      Real budget lenses are going to be adapted vintage glass, which are quite popular on Sony mirrorless.

      @atefamriche9531 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@caldera878 there's someone who knows what they're talking about.
      I was just thinking to myself ... "$500 !!! to me that's crazy to call budget. I call budget my $35 old Nikon zoom lens that I adapted to my sony APS-C (it even came with an awesome leather cylinder hard case). I also call budget my recent purchase of a film camera with a 50mm f2 lens for $30. I don't even need the camera, but the lens is so awesome that it has a cult following (I just happened to find a good deal as it goes for $100+ sometimes). This particular 50mm will smoke the crap out of the "art" Sigma lenses"
      PHOTOGRAPHY DOES NOT HAVE TO BE EXPENSIVE !!!

    Hi Christopher, my most used lens on Sony a6000 is the 7artisans 25mm f/1.8 manual lens. Definitely inexpensive (I bought it new for 60 euro) and extremely sharp in the center already from f/1.8. The equivalent field of view (FOV) on full frame camera is that of a 37mm lens. I really appreciated your review of budget lenses and the only minor issue is the lack of lenses for apsc sensors around 24mm focal length (equivalent to 35mm FOV on full frame) which is a very popular one.

    • @pizzablender
      @pizzablender 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's strength is nearby and not landscape and the max aperture is not that spectacular. I just bought one, it is excellent value,
      I'll see how it compared to the Sigma 30/1.4 for landscape. But the macro sure is a winner for close up.

  • @robertcudlipp3426
    @robertcudlipp3426 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Thanks for another comprehensive lower end cost review.
    I shoot quite a lot of wide angle, mainly landscapes, and find the Samyang wide angles to be excellent- regardless of price.
    The Viltrox 85 1.4 ( more like 135mm in FF terms) seems to be a good candidate, however the Sigma 56 1.4 with closer cropped focal length & AF just does a great job.
    With those wide angle Samyangs, manual focus a non issue as generally zone type focus at e.g 5.6, f8 or wider & everything is focus.

    Thinking about switching from MFT to APS-C this is super helpful to get an impression of the sony lens market - which looks very interesting. Thank you!

    • @sunglint
      @sunglint 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Like MFT, you can also convert almost any lens from any manufacturer. I just bought a Sigma 18-35 1.8 that was made for Sony A mount (nee Minolta), and with the Sony adapter it autofocuses, sends exif, and is _wicked_ sharp. Not budget, but when you have a Sony and you're interested in Manual lenses, the choices are great. When I decided to get the Samyang/Rokinon 14mm f2.8 I looked at best price on Pentax, Nikon, and Sony, and found a Pentax one for a great price. Canon supposedly are the best to convert, but I have no Canon assets at all right now, although it is a possibility. I've been a Pentax guy for years, and have tons of lenses, and when I decided to get a new body I went with a Sony A6500, great sensor and in body stabilization. That said, I hear good things about MFT, and you should be able to do almost all of this with that format.

    I second the recommendation of the Samyang/Rokinon 12mm f2.0. Fantastic lens for landscape work. It's primary weakness, lack of AF, won't affect most of the time either since at 12mm just about everything is in focus at once.
    I will say that I'd recommend people look at the 55-210 in the used market as it can easily show up for half price or less, making it one of the best lowest budget lenses for this system. I enjoyed the combination of these 2 lenses while I was on APSC.

    How can I tell which is an E-mount from an FE-mount Sony lens by just looking? I get so confused about lens mounts all the time.

      It should say in the product description, or, watch a review

      Don't forget, 'FE' is not the name of a different mount - it just means that the lens gives a full-frame image

      @@christopherfrost Thank you but I also just discovered that the lens marked accordingly with E or FE
