Finally Complice gets respect! It's my favourite from 2008 and I was shocked when I realized that it got the last place. One of the most underrated ESC entries for sure.
I have the same exact top 3 omg...Deli is my favorite ESC song ever and then Shady Lady still manages to blow all other ESC pop divas out of the water for me
Omg, ! I love when that happens!! Deli is just amazing, Turkey has quite a few of my fav ESC songs ever. And yes, something about Ani and her song is just so exceptional!! I think the only pop diva entries that can hold a candle to her for me are Helena and Sertab themselves.
i love your tops! you appreciate songs that normally eurovision fans don't give a shit about because they're outside of the average eurofan comfort zone. and great taste! i agree with a lot of things you say of the songs i have to update my top of 2008, but i think my top 5 would be: 1. Deli 🇹🇷 2. Complice 🇸🇲 3. Divine 🇫🇷 4. Pokusaj 🇧🇦 5. Senhora do mar 🇵🇹
Thank you so so much!! Yes, I always try and keep a wide open mind when I listen to Eurovision songs because one of my favourite things in the contest is the genre diversity. I always find myself liking things I didn't expect to like and especially appreciating artists that do their own thing and follow their own style. I really like your top five!! Deli is just legendary of course, and I'm so happy to see all the support for Complice in this comment section, because I always find myself thinking about the song and wishing they'd done even a little better. And Pokusaj is actually growing and growing on me, I'm really happy I learned to enjoy it!
Our top 5 are absolutely same (just Azerbaijan instead of San Marino), and *THANK YOU FOR THE FIRST PLACE, WE REALLY DESERVED FOR THE FIRST PLACE !!!* 😍🇹🇷
As an Irishman I'd like to apologise to the entirety of Europe for Dustin the Turkey. It was awful, painful and I wish it had never happened. The UK didn't deserve last place as it was a pretty good song and Andy Abraham seems like a great guy Btw I love how you're super positive about most songs even when they're shit
Dustin the Turkey was just... so so embarassing, I hate how people continue to joke about how "Ireland sent a singing turkey in 2008, haha, so funny and quirky" like.... NO, it's really NOT, it's egotistical and bratty 😂 Even If is a cute song but I think it's one of those entries that isn't anybody's favourite, so no votes. Germany and Poland actually got the same number of points.... The tiebreaker rule was used to determine the placings, and Andy was unlucky, so... Last. Terry Wogan was ANGRY. I do think Germany would've been a more reasonable last, they only got twelve points from Bulgaria because one of the band members is Bulgarian.
@@eurovisiongal7007 I think performing second really hurt his chances. People just kind of forgot about it. Thought this was worth saying. Charlotte Perelli found out that her husband cheated on her not long before going on stage. The second line "everything comes to an end". Although if hero was written about her husband she should've given it a more appropriate name. Like bastard

Ooh, was not expecting this! Love that background choice at the beginning, lol. 2008 is part of the era I like to call “The Shitpost Years” (2006-2008) where no one really knew what they were doing and the ones that did had hit or miss results. 43. Says a lot about this performance where no one even bothers to find it in a decent quality. Rest in peace Tarmo, though. 42. Remember when this was Ireland’s worst result and not just some okay song with a maybe questionable performance getting dead last? Good times...or mediocre times given Ireland’s current stats. 41. What was Belgium on when they sent Love Power, Copycat, and this? Apparently I don’t need it nor do I want it. 40. The sad thing is that there’s quite a few contenders for that award...but holy crap that live is kinda ghastly.... 39. I actually thought this was pretty funny...then I saw what Spain sent to OGAE Second Chance that year and I looked back on this and went “...Why.” I’m usually a sucker for shitposting and this does sorta fill my hypercritical “Is it entertaining to actually watch” quota. Plus it’s actually somewhat useful for beginners in Spanish since it’s such a basic song 38. When I heard there was a song called “Vodka” in the contest I was expecting a little bit more than whatever this was. 32. Whoever still remembers this entry, uhh...they get a brownie for their photographic memory 31. Used to be my least favorite Andorran entry until I re-evaluated some stuff...still pretty okay entry I suppose. 27. Bit unrelated here, but I imagine trying to fit all the names next to that comment box is a somewhat difficult task 24. For once I don’t actually agree with a UK last place, I kinda feel Germany deserved it more that year. Granted that doesn’t mean I particularly love this entry but I see the reason it’s last. 23. Somehow this entry got covered by a metal/hard rock/i dont know my genres very well band. I kid you not. 22. I still think Leave Me Alone is my favorite rock entry of theirs, but man, both this and that one deserved a bit more than what they got. 17. I don’t speak a lick of any balkan language but this somehow manages to make me smile. It’s such a joyful entry, even if it is a bit of a possible joke one too. 16. This entry....it makes me want to DURIFTO! It sounds straight out of the Initial D soundtrack. Kinda strange that I’d consider this up there as some of my favorites from Iceland but they actually have quite a few good entries. 13. That good immersion, tho. 9. God, an over the top entry that still also has unironic enjoyment? Count me in! What a way to start off the somewhat turbulent tale of Azerbaijan. 5. I guess you could call this entry...DIVINE! ...I apologize immensely for that terrible pun. 4. That’s quite a big gap. With other entries that placed last I get this weird unnerving aura, like some sort of emptiness, even when the performance is colorful. I don’t get that empty aura with this entry, that must mean something. 3. Yeah, probably one of my favorite Serbian entries. 1. Huge F in the chat as this was their last entry they sung in Turkish (does Dum Tek Tek actually count for that too? I don’t know.)
hi :) yeah, i've procrastinating on this for quite some time bc i don't remember a lot of the songs! feeling refreshed on them now, though. and thank you, i was trying to pick a background that looks a little like the official logo for this year! 43. It was so wild! I couldn't find a single version of this performance that doesn't look like it was filmed with a potato on a tripod. 42. SARAH DESERVED BETTER and i stand by that, the song is really cute even if it had no real chance but i guess her vocal hiccups and the staging were too much :( 39. ughhh, yeah, if a troll entry is gonna beat an actually good song in the NF then at least make it an iconic high quality troll entry :( 32. apparently some people love this?? it's in some top tens?? i had no idea, sorry for disrespecting him. 27. YEAH IT REALLY IS DIFFICULT... my main tactics are reducing the font size a little (which is annoying because i have to adjust the shadows too) and in worst case scenarios, referring to people by just their first names. 22. Odd take but I feel like Leave Me Alone is only just a rock song? I like it a lot but it just feels more like a pop song with some extra guitars. Anyway, yep, Finland should send more rock/pop rock songs. 17. I actually only just figured out wtf the staging is meant to represent when I made this video and I actually find it doubly cute now! "I'll try to kiss you /And you'll pretend you're crazy/I'll try to kiss you/And you'll pretend you're mad". Aww, what a messy love affair. 16. Dunno the series in particular but I actually remember a lot of Japanese media with aggressively Europop soundtracks in the 2000s. "Can you feel the sunshine??" 13. The ATMOSPHERE.... perfection, love it. 9. I wish they'd let their wackiness show a little more often, it's just supreme entertainment. 4. I know what you mean!! With most last placers, even if I love the song, there's clearly something wrong with the performance where I can see why people didn't vote. Whereas with this song... nope, it could use a little fine-tuning but it doesn't scream last placer at all, everything is pulled off well. I actually see this in quite a lot of people's personal top tens. It's a shame they did so badly. 1. I always thought Dum Tek Tek was an onomatopoeia but it's a Turkish onomatopoeia... does that count? I don't know either! Thanks again for the comment!!
Even tho I becomes a French enthusiasm, I'm still angry France can't just continue their tradition in singing in French.Dont stop it, France, french is magical.
I honestly don't know of anyone who dislikes Ukraine's song, it's just that amazing 😱 San Marino's entry also seems very well liked in hindsight. They should come back!
It's just so so funny and iconic, it kills me every time, biggest guilty pleasure 😂 it's honestly a pretty good track too, produced by one of the members of Daft Punk. Glad other people love Complice too, CRIMINALLY underrated.
As for the German ESC entry: around that time there were rumours about choosing Tokio Hotel internally for Eurovision, and IMO anything they'd sing would be much better than the eventual disaster... and I also think they'd finish top10, if not even top5, as in some countries (including Poland) they were really popular, so many people would vote for them... (and from that national final that was held Marquess - their song was kinda hit later that year, if I remember well - or the one with a German language song IMO would be much better options) Oh, and by the way, THANKS FOR HAVING TURKEY 1ST!!! ❤ 👏👏👏(it's also my winner of that year, and I would prefer this as the winner from Turkey than Sertab, sorry but I'm just not so fond of her song even if I like ethnic sounds)
Oh, wow, that's such a nostalgia trip! Tokio Hotel never really blew up in the UK as much as they did in other countries, but I read about them on the internet in the late 2000s and was super obsessed with their music! They would've been a great choice and definitely got points based just on name recognition... and the performance probably would've been MUCH better, No Angels honestly sang and danced at the grand final like they'd never been on stage before. I would be VERY down to see them in the future even now if Germany ever decides to try the legacy artist tactic rather than picking another Symphonix song I don't really care about 😊 I love Sertab if only because of Her Power and Her Impact but Deli is definitely the song that appeals to me more... the song alone is really a cut above everything from this year for me!! It's just amazing. Turkey actually sent probably my favourite song of the year in 1997, 2003, 2008 AND 2010. It really sucks that they withdrew.
Oh, and I actually have the faintest grasp of German (studied it in school) so I really like the idea of sending a song in German again because I have half a chance of understanding it! Also to dissuade the whole "blah blah German sounds harsh and ugly" myth because I still strongly disagree, even if recent songs like Austria in 2012 are NOT helping our case 😔
No que le hiciste a nuestro chiquilicuatre, después de los 0 puntos debiéramos mandarle de nuevo Buen video, my winner is Greece, 2 Armenia and 3 Serbia
I think Dustin was more sent to Eurovision because of the fact that its Dustin than the delegation having a hissy fit (seriously, everyone loves Dustin, he is untouchable here in Ireland). That whole eUrOpE hAtEs Us attitude is sadly a thing here too and for fans it's really frustrating, but I just don't think that was the thought process behind sending him (even though literally everything about the song and performance makes it seem like that). That aside, we have the same winner, and I love that you put Serbia and San Marino so high. Love your videos!
Hi 👋🏼😊 it's weird because I know he's a pretty beloved figure but I've always heard it framed as a "we came last in 2007, Europe hates us, send the troll turkey this year" thing. I can see why it may have been intended as a bit of fun and that's why people like it but it unfortunately always has that association in my head 😔 thanks for watching though! ❤️
@@eurovisiongal7007 Yeah I can definitely see a good few people acting like that and being salty. The worst part is that the year before Ireland came top ten, which just proves when we send quality, we'll get results!
Here are my personal votes/rankings, i'am from the Netherlands 12 points: Israël - Boaz Ma'uda - The fire in your eyes 10 points: Armenia - Sirusho - Qélé Qélé 8 points: Sweden - Charlotte Perrelli - Hero 7 points: Azerbaijan - Elnur & Samir - Day after day 6 points: Greece - Kalomira - Secret combination 5 points: Poland - Isis Gee - For life 4 points: Ukraine - Ani Lorak - Shady lady 3 points: Iceland - Euroband - This is my life 2 points: Turkey - Mor ve Otesi - Deli 1 point : Latvia - Pirates of the Sea - Wolves of the Sea
Okay this year was actually pretty good imo. Sure there were some trainwrecks and boring duds, but I really loved many songs too!! Also, help, I can't choose my winners out of my three favorites
@@theresnogoingbackk I love Azerbaijan and Ukraine 😍. Well you could use Eurovision gal's suggestion with making the clips under ten seconds long, or you could go the connor Eurovision plan and speed the songs up and invert the colors, but that's probably unessecary 😅
I am from Turkey and lets' talk about music instead of politics: 1)Armenia - Sirusho - Qele Qele 2)Greece - Kalomira - Secret Combination 3)Ukraine - Ani Lorak - Shady Lady 4)Turkey - Mor ve Ötesi - Deli All those 4 songs would have won at any contest i could not understand how Dima Bilan won that year(?). Also Russia has always better entry than ''believe'' which had not won yet.
I was really hoping Serbia were going to get the double win. Love Israel,Turkey,Switzerland.,Sweden and Armenia. It's a shame the winner in 2008 was so poor.
2008 was uh, ok for me but there’s only 1 song I remember and that’s Shady Lady!!!!! Tbh, I don’t even know how Romania qualified in 2008, I don’t like it (this is coming from a half Romanian person)
I LITERALLY ONLY JUST UNDERSTOOD YOUR USERNAME BTW......... Shady Lady is indeed The One, idk anyone who doesn't like the song in some way!! Romania qualified because there's just a big market for cute, classic and incredibly unadventurous songs 😂 it's the same reason why In a Moment Like This came third, or Running Scared won. Cute! Basic! Inoffensive! And I still like a lot of them anyway, even if this particular entry doesn't quite do it for my 🥺❤️☺️💕🥰 side.
eurovision gal HAHAHAHAHHH, everyone is only just figuring out my username lately, but tbh it was never even meant to mean Romania & Poland, I was literally thinking of the words “Rolly Polly” (don’t ask why lmao) and I was like “yeah, sure” and then later on I was like “ohhhh, Romania and Poland, hmm smart of me, maybe” Also I really hate when cute songs do well (still annoyed at the fact that L*ve is F*rever qualified instead of Romania and reached 12th in the final) but I think 2008 should’ve been our first non-qualification
@@ESCRolly I also can't stand Love is Forever, it's the annoying twee tryhard cute variety for me 😂 I think Lithuania's song was a better "cute and boring" entry for me, at least Jurijus didn't look like he was being held hostage! Ester finishing like 13th in the semi was a crime tbh, I'll never forgive. 😪
Good list! I consider 2008 to be a good year in Eurovision. Lots of great songs, but there are also others that suuuck... Here's my opinion! 43. Germany Terrible entry. The song itself isn't anything special, but the weak voices completely destroy this one. How Germany decided to let this one happen is just beyond me. 42. Andorra Painfully generic. Next! 41. Belgium Belgium, just because it worked in 2003, doesn't mean that it will work again. This song feels unplanned and incredibly awkward. 40. Malta Well, I've actually got nothing to say about this one. It is quite frankly just a mess of a song. 39. Lithuania The song started out okay, but the rest of it just exits. The guy is not a very good singer and it shows. This was kind of a sad attempt to make something epic. 38. Czech Republic Ugh, another painfully generic song. Although not as painful as Andorra's song. 37. Serbia I am sorry, but I cannot stand the chorus of this song. It annoys me and just makes me think that Jelena is just whining about something. The rest of the song is fine, but I can't put it higher purely because of the damn chorus. 36. Belarus Yeah, this sort of is a ripoff from 2007, an entry which I'm personally not the biggest fan of, but that's not the worst part. The song's lyrics are very weak and predictable, so it ends up to be a rather disappointing experience. 35. Cyprus The performance is interesting, I'll give her that, but the song is weird on the bad way. :/ 34. Sweden One of the most generic songs from Sweden. I don't like it, but I don't hate it as well. But I can't call this song very original. If you make it generic, make it enjoyable as well. 33. Greece This one never really affected me. I'm probably the only one who thinks that the chorus of this song isn't very special. The instrumental is good, but nothing too special as well. 32. Bosnia & Herzegovina I really like the first minute of the song. The slow approach was very interesting to me. The main problem is that they turned the song's speed faster way too soon. Sad, this song definitely had potential. Oh well, at least the performance is entertaining. 31. Switzerland Like Greece, I've never been really affected by this one. Sure, it's an okay song, but nothing more. 30. Russia I don't hate this winner, but it's not a very good one. Dima's got a good voice, but the song feels weak, especially in the chorus. 29. United Kingdom I appreciate the funky sound, but this song has always left me a feeling that the structure wasn't planned out very well. 28. Estonia Yeah, it is bad, but close to the "so bad that it's good" category. This one never fails to entertain me, plus, the chorus is kind of catchy. 27. Poland She's got a great voice, but I must agree with you - this one's just one of those songs that just showcases voice abilities. 26. Moldova It has got a nice jazzy tune, and her voice is pretty good, but something still was missing in that song. 25. France Ah, a classic one. While I'm not the biggest fan of it, I kind of like it. The song gets a bit repetitive after a while, though. 24. Spain I enjoy this one. Rodolfo can perform, but the singing parts aren't very engaging. I really like the toy guitar riff (idk how else to call it) and the flow of the song. 23. The Netherlands This one's good, but I see why it didn't qualify. It doesn't really stand out with anything. 22. Hungary I've always found this one underrated. I think that the ballad is pretty decent and her voice is good. 21. Romania Nice duet. The structure of the song is also well executed and it overall creates a solid entry. 20. Georgia The song's good, even though the message can get repetitive after a while, but the main part I enjoyed was the changing of clothes before the final chorus. A very well pulled off trick. 19. Ukraine A fan favourite, and I can see why! I'm not the biggest fan of the chorus, but I really enjoy the verses. The staging was also very interesting. 18. Montenegro Great melody, good voice. The chorus is also good! Definitely deserved to qualify! 17. Slovenia Catchy song, which I surprisingly really enjoyed. Another underrated gem. 16. Latvia Yeah, one of our most iconic performances, which I really enjoyed. We've never had any sort of pirate culture, so this entry was a very interesting choice. But hey, we qualified! 15. Norway A stylish entry and a well planned song. I have zero reasons to dislike this as a Eurovision song. 14. Denmark I always appreciate when Denmark decides to send these feel-good songs, on which they excel at! This is no exception, I love stuff like this! 13. Albania A slow rock ballad which is clearly planned out and performed in a great way. Nothing else to add here. 12. Israel One more ballad and what can I say? It's meaningful, performed with a great voice! Great entry! 11. Portugal Another powerful and stunning ballad! I also am a fan of the dark performance which was very fitting! 10. Armenia This is just a fun song with nice ethnic influences. Another awesome fan favourite! 9. San Marino Very, very underrated. This is not last place material. Man, it must have been disappointing for San Marino to send a kickass song only to be placed last. No wonder they quit for the next 2 years. 8. North Macedonia Man, it's a pity jury wildcard decided to pick Sweden instead of this catchy tune! I strongly prefer this song over "Proud," it's more fun and more catchy! 7. Iceland Remember when I said that generic songs had to be made enjoyable. I can easily say that Iceland did this. Great vocals, great verses and chorus! It also is a very nostalgic song because this is an embodiment of a European 2000s pop song! 6. Ireland Okay, please don't kill me for loving this. I find this song so ridiculous that I actually enjoy it so much! Watching the performance of this song is always a good experience. I can't help but love this mess. 5. Bulgaria Man, this was an interesting year for songs! This is a great dubstep track with some other genre influences. The first minute of the song is nearly perfect! It has a great dubstep buildup but then has a great transition into a calmer sound with a kickass melody! 2000s Bulgaria may have had a rough patch, but they had some bloody good songs in that era. 4. Croatia Classy and well performed. Great tango melody with a good voice! This one also has an awesome performance. Of course, I can't not mention the exceptional 75 Cents (R.I.P.) whose antics were very entertaining! 3. Finland Damn, what an amazing metal song! I adore the rhythm section, which does a stellar job in this song, as well the fantastic voice, which can be compared even to the great Ronnie James Dio! The song itself is what a great metal song should be! 2. Turkey Turkey really loves alternative rock and heavy metal, as they have a few entries dedicated to those genres! I'm just saying, if the majority of people loves your rock / metal song, then you know that you've done a great job. That's exactly what Turkey did. Don't even get me started on the genius guitar riffs. 1. Azerbaijan As much as there are good and memorable entries in this year, my favourite has to be Azerbaijan's debut! It's dark, filled with ethnic inspirations, huge vocal ranges and people in angel costumes. It is weird and I love it. The song also has some rock influences, which is much appreciated from me as well! Love this entry to death, so far the best song that Azerbaijan has ever given us!
It's hard to say for me, because there's WAY too much utter garbage here, but I also love the top ten or so songs I listed 😂 much worse than anything in the 2010s though. Well, maybe not 2011...

42. SARAH DESERVED BETTER and i stand by that, the song is really cute even if it had no real chance but i guess her vocal hiccups and the staging were too much :(
39. ughhh, yeah, if a troll entry is gonna beat an actually good song in the NF then at least make it an iconic high quality troll entry :(
32. apparently some people love this?? it's in some top tens?? i had no idea, sorry for disrespecting him.
"I'll try to kiss you
/And you'll pretend you're crazy/I'll try to kiss you/And you'll pretend you're mad". Aww, what a messy love affair.
16. Dunno the series in particular but I actually remember a lot of Japanese media with aggressively Europop soundtracks in the 2000s. "Can you feel the sunshine??"
Thanks again for the comment!!
thanks for number #1 spot :)
DELİ 😍😍😍😍
Oh, thanks! Love from Serbia
1.Russia

Even tho I becomes a French enthusiasm, I'm still angry France can't just continue their tradition in singing in French.Dont stop it, France, french is magical.
Only 2 songs of esc 2008 I love are Belive and Oro...
My winner is Ukraine but I love Russia, Serbia, Armenia, Netherlands and San Marino a lot too.
I honestly don't know of anyone who dislikes Ukraine's song, it's just that amazing 😱 San Marino's entry also seems very well liked in hindsight. They should come back!
My top 5:
1. Armenia
2. Serbia
3. Greece
4. Ukraine
5. Russia
Amazing top! San Marino my winner, but
France in 5th place?
It's just so so funny and iconic, it kills me every time, biggest guilty pleasure 😂 it's honestly a pretty good track too, produced by one of the members of Daft Punk.
Glad other people love Complice too, CRIMINALLY underrated.
The holy pop diva trinity of the 2000s was mentioned. Who else makes up that 3?
Same winner :)
Iceland and Sweden are goals
Malta 2008: Vodka
Slovenia 2020: Voda

ALAVADO SEA EL CHIKICHIKI
As for the German ESC entry: around that time there were rumours about choosing Tokio Hotel internally for Eurovision, and IMO anything they'd sing would be much better than the eventual disaster... and I also think they'd finish top10, if not even top5, as in some countries (including Poland) they were really popular, so many people would vote for them...
(and from that national final that was held Marquess - their song was kinda hit later that year, if I remember well - or the one with a German language song IMO would be much better options)
Oh, and by the way, THANKS FOR HAVING TURKEY 1ST!!!
I would be VERY down to see them in the future even now if Germany ever decides to try the legacy artist tactic rather than picking another Symphonix song I don't really care about 😊
I love Sertab if only because of Her Power and Her Impact but Deli is definitely the song that appeals to me more... the song alone is really a cut above everything from this year for me!!
I have high respect for you putting Croatia as high as you did. 👉😎👉
No que le hiciste a nuestro chiquilicuatre, después de los 0 puntos debiéramos mandarle de nuevo
Buen video, my winner is Greece, 2 Armenia and 3 Serbia
Here are my personal votes/rankings, i'am from the Netherlands
12 points: Israël - Boaz Ma'uda - The fire in your eyes
10 points: Armenia - Sirusho - Qélé Qélé

Could you make a troll Eurovision song top list? as a joke?
I've actually considered it but it's kind of hard to decide whether to class certain entries as troll/joke songs or not! Still, it could happen.
Is it bad that I prefer Hero (Sweden) over any Swedish song from 2009-2021..
Okay this year was actually pretty good imo. Sure there were some trainwrecks and boring duds, but I really loved many songs too!!
Also, help, I can't choose my winners out of my three favorites
What are your three favorites? Also what is happening with your uploading on the 2008 top 43?
@@DentalFlan ukraine, turkey, and azerbaijan. Also, so sorry, I really wanted to post it, but it got copyrighted every damn time😭
@@theresnogoingbackk I love Azerbaijan and Ukraine 😍. Well you could use Eurovision gal's suggestion with making the clips under ten seconds long, or you could go the connor Eurovision plan and speed the songs up and invert the colors, but that's probably unessecary 😅
I am from Turkey and lets' talk about music instead of politics:
1)Armenia - Sirusho - Qele Qele
2)Greece - Kalomira - Secret Combination
3)Ukraine - Ani Lorak - Shady Lady
4)Turkey - Mor ve Ötesi - Deli
All those 4 songs would have won at any contest i could not understand how Dima Bilan won that year(?). Also Russia has always better entry than ''believe'' which had not won yet.
1. Turkey! 2. France. 3.San Marino

VIVA EL CHIKI CHIKI!
I was really hoping Serbia were going to get the double win. Love Israel,Turkey,Switzerland.,Sweden and Armenia. It's a shame the winner in 2008 was so poor.
Nevena Bozovic - Kruna, deserve to be here
İt wasn't in 2008, it was 2019
Pretty weak year, but some songs are one of my all time favourites.
Andy Abraham song even if was a great song should've been in top 10
I take back what I said about 2007 actually this is a much worse year
Norway and Israel won it, but Portugal, Iceland, Armenia and France were fantastic too!
Believe is #43 on my list.
Worst ESC winner of all times by a landslide. Glad that my country Iceland didn't spend any points on that ditty.
if Russia is your last place, who is your 2nd last and who is in your Top 3

AZƏEBAYCAN🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿
unpopular opinion: Denmark is my winner
Good list! I consider 2008 to be a good year in Eurovision. Lots of great songs, but there are also others that suuuck... Here's my opinion!
43. Germany
Terrible entry. The song itself isn't anything special, but the weak voices completely destroy this one. How Germany decided to let this one happen is just beyond me.
42. Andorra
Painfully generic. Next!
41. Belgium
Belgium, just because it worked in 2003, doesn't mean that it will work again. This song feels unplanned and incredibly awkward.
40. Malta
Well, I've actually got nothing to say about this one. It is quite frankly just a mess of a song.
39. Lithuania
The song started out okay, but the rest of it just exits. The guy is not a very good singer and it shows. This was kind of a sad attempt to make something epic.
38. Czech Republic
Ugh, another painfully generic song. Although not as painful as Andorra's song.
37. Serbia
I am sorry, but I cannot stand the chorus of this song. It annoys me and just makes me think that Jelena is just whining about something. The rest of the song is fine, but I can't put it higher purely because of the damn chorus.
36. Belarus
Yeah, this sort of is a ripoff from 2007, an entry which I'm personally not the biggest fan of, but that's not the worst part. The song's lyrics are very weak and predictable, so it ends up to be a rather disappointing experience.
35. Cyprus
The performance is interesting, I'll give her that, but the song is weird on the bad way. :/
34. Sweden
One of the most generic songs from Sweden. I don't like it, but I don't hate it as well. But I can't call this song very original. If you make it generic, make it enjoyable as well.
33. Greece
This one never really affected me. I'm probably the only one who thinks that the chorus of this song isn't very special. The instrumental is good, but nothing too special as well.
32. Bosnia & Herzegovina
I really like the first minute of the song. The slow approach was very interesting to me. The main problem is that they turned the song's speed faster way too soon. Sad, this song definitely had potential. Oh well, at least the performance is entertaining.
31. Switzerland
Like Greece, I've never been really affected by this one. Sure, it's an okay song, but nothing more.
30. Russia
I don't hate this winner, but it's not a very good one. Dima's got a good voice, but the song feels weak, especially in the chorus.
29. United Kingdom
I appreciate the funky sound, but this song has always left me a feeling that the structure wasn't planned out very well.
28. Estonia
Yeah, it is bad, but close to the "so bad that it's good" category. This one never fails to entertain me, plus, the chorus is kind of catchy.
27. Poland
She's got a great voice, but I must agree with you - this one's just one of those songs that just showcases voice abilities.
26. Moldova
It has got a nice jazzy tune, and her voice is pretty good, but something still was missing in that song.
25. France
Ah, a classic one. While I'm not the biggest fan of it, I kind of like it. The song gets a bit repetitive after a while, though.
24. Spain
I enjoy this one. Rodolfo can perform, but the singing parts aren't very engaging. I really like the toy guitar riff (idk how else to call it) and the flow of the song.
23. The Netherlands
This one's good, but I see why it didn't qualify. It doesn't really stand out with anything.
22. Hungary
I've always found this one underrated. I think that the ballad is pretty decent and her voice is good.
21. Romania
Nice duet. The structure of the song is also well executed and it overall creates a solid entry.
20. Georgia
The song's good, even though the message can get repetitive after a while, but the main part I enjoyed was the changing of clothes before the final chorus. A very well pulled off trick.
19. Ukraine
A fan favourite, and I can see why! I'm not the biggest fan of the chorus, but I really enjoy the verses. The staging was also very interesting.
18. Montenegro
Great melody, good voice. The chorus is also good! Definitely deserved to qualify!
17. Slovenia
Catchy song, which I surprisingly really enjoyed. Another underrated gem.
16. Latvia
Yeah, one of our most iconic performances, which I really enjoyed. We've never had any sort of pirate culture, so this entry was a very interesting choice. But hey, we qualified!
15. Norway
A stylish entry and a well planned song. I have zero reasons to dislike this as a Eurovision song.
14. Denmark
I always appreciate when Denmark decides to send these feel-good songs, on which they excel at! This is no exception, I love stuff like this!
13. Albania
A slow rock ballad which is clearly planned out and performed in a great way. Nothing else to add here.
12. Israel
One more ballad and what can I say? It's meaningful, performed with a great voice! Great entry!
11. Portugal
Another powerful and stunning ballad! I also am a fan of the dark performance which was very fitting!
10. Armenia
This is just a fun song with nice ethnic influences. Another awesome fan favourite!
9. San Marino
Very, very underrated. This is not last place material. Man, it must have been disappointing for San Marino to send a kickass song only to be placed last. No wonder they quit for the next 2 years.
8. North Macedonia
Man, it's a pity jury wildcard decided to pick Sweden instead of this catchy tune! I strongly prefer this song over "Proud," it's more fun and more catchy!
7. Iceland
Remember when I said that generic songs had to be made enjoyable. I can easily say that Iceland did this. Great vocals, great verses and chorus! It also is a very nostalgic song because this is an embodiment of a European 2000s pop song!
6. Ireland
Okay, please don't kill me for loving this. I find this song so ridiculous that I actually enjoy it so much! Watching the performance of this song is always a good experience. I can't help but love this mess.
5. Bulgaria
Man, this was an interesting year for songs! This is a great dubstep track with some other genre influences. The first minute of the song is nearly perfect! It has a great dubstep buildup but then has a great transition into a calmer sound with a kickass melody! 2000s Bulgaria may have had a rough patch, but they had some bloody good songs in that era.
4. Croatia
Classy and well performed. Great tango melody with a good voice! This one also has an awesome performance. Of course, I can't not mention the exceptional 75 Cents (R.I.P.) whose antics were very entertaining!
3. Finland
Damn, what an amazing metal song! I adore the rhythm section, which does a stellar job in this song, as well the fantastic voice, which can be compared even to the great Ronnie James Dio! The song itself is what a great metal song should be!
2. Turkey
Turkey really loves alternative rock and heavy metal, as they have a few entries dedicated to those genres! I'm just saying, if the majority of people loves your rock / metal song, then you know that you've done a great job. That's exactly what Turkey did. Don't even get me started on the genius guitar riffs.
1. Azerbaijan
As much as there are good and memorable entries in this year, my favourite has to be Azerbaijan's debut! It's dark, filled with ethnic inspirations, huge vocal ranges and people in angel costumes. It is weird and I love it. The song also has some rock influences, which is much appreciated from me as well! Love this entry to death, so far the best song that Azerbaijan has ever given us!
Agree with the comment about Azerbaijan, the rest of their songs just sound like Sweden 2.0, day after day was creative af
DentalFlan While I do enjoy other entries like 2014, 2015 and 2019 from Azerbaijan, I mostly agree. Thanks for the comment!
