A year of many flops and trainwrecks, yet I'm still quite nostalgic for it??? 🤔 It's definitely something. Anyway thanks for 100 subs and look forward to the last year of the decade 😘
Slovenia honestly should be #1. SOOO good and underrated. Vocals were on point, a phenomenal build up to the captivating ending, the background, it's just so amazing.
I will never understand how Azerbaijan won in 2011. It is really forgettable among the other entries and it is for sure worse than at least 10 other songs.
Agree with what a lot of others said that 2011 was a pretty weak year, and it is crazy just how many songs that were meant to do well ended up doing pretty badly. Lena definitely takes the best song, but I also really loved the entries from Denmark, Moldova, Ireland and the UK this year. This is probably Ireland's best entry in the past 20 years, and much better than the song Jedward did in 2012.
Me: *Prepares to hate on the list because some of my favourites are underrated.* *Gets to the top three and realises that Bosnia and Germany are still to come.* .... *Smashes the "like" button 50 times*
My top 10: 1. Slovenia 2. Ukraine 3. Azerbaijan 4. Germany 5. Ireland 6. Denmark 7. Sweden 8. Greece 9. Georgia 10. Bosnia and Herzegovina My bottom 10: 34. Norway 35. Malta 36. F.Y.R. Macedonia 37. The Netherlands 38. Poland 39. Moldova 40. Croatia 41. Belgium 42. Armenia 43. Portugal This year was really *filled* with some awful, horrendous songs. It probably has the worst bottom 10 of any year, even 2017, which I like even less, overall. But good video!
Thank you from Bulgaria!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ And thank you for putting Slovenia in the top 4, they were my first and they were severely underrated. Also, Germany was my 2nd 😍 We've got a similar taste
@@eurovisiongal7007 Slovenia really deserves to win 😔 The most they got was 7th and since the introduction of semi finals they've only been 13th at best which is just barely making the left side of the table. They were my winners in 2007, 2011 and 2018.
@@harithoma-a-8157 I am shocked they don't have any really good results, especially lately! At least their songs are really popular with fans. Maybe Ana can come through next year, she has a real powerhouse of a voice!
I am checking every top of 2011's eurovision , and cant understand any top. Why Loucas Yiorkas isn't on first place? 33? rly? And Cyprus on 24th place... realy? France 30? No1 understand what music is...
Oi, what's wrong with emotional constipation? I've had that for decades. Hey, thanks for putting Poli top 5, I've been waging a one-man campaign to convince anyone that cares (i.e. no-one) that it was THE best entry 2011. It's top of my list, which admittedly only stretches to five, as my concentration wanders when it gets lower down the order than that. (I start saying things like "oh oh, looks like another great entry by Belarus.")
I wouldn't have put Lena in first, but I do think "Taken by a Stranger" is a song that has held up surprisingly well. It might be better now, somehow, than it was in 2011.
10. 🇱🇹 Lithuania 9. 🇧🇦 Bosnia and Herzegovina 8. 🇲🇹 Malta 7. 🇩🇪 Germany 6. 🇭🇺 Hungary 5. 🇷🇺 Russia 4. 🇳🇱 Holland 3. 🇬🇧 Great Britain 2. 🇮🇱 Israel 1. 🇷🇸 Serbia
Ohhh boy, 2011...what a strange year. Just gonna do my random thought dump except this time it’s not the entire list because what can I even say about a good chunk of these entries, lmao. 43. Same last place, the whole thing is pretty sloppy 40. legit forgot russia even competed that year, though i can basically say that about a huge chunk of entries that year 38. My second last, the song just annoys me but I heard he’s a fine and dandy dude so no ill will against him 31. Mandela effect? I thought the “H” was always there, maybe I just can’t read, lmao. I kinda prefer the absolute stupidity of the 2020 entry more since that’s more of her style, but this isn’t too terrible. Nowhere near my favorite Stan Marino entry I’m afraid. 29. This was the second Eurovision song I listened to (first was Satellite, lmao) and what a strange entry it was. By no means the best song but I can find ironic enjoyment in it 28. Rest in peace...didn’t particularly care for the song but like you said, those dancers are so hypnotic. One time i actually tried to sync it with Cipela (Serbia 2009) and it somehow works? There’s that for you. 25. That’s the highest I’ve ever seen Portugal on a 2011 list. I like the concept of it, but it’s very easy to see why it failed. 24. Ah yes, the wailing woman...I actually find this song quite nice, it’s not competitive but it kinda resonates with me, despite not knowing the language all that well 21. With a better live/audio mixing it probably would’ve been a bit higher...apparently I found out she did some of the songs for the Polish dub of Winx Club and they’re actually pretty good (there’s your useless trivia for the day) 19. It’s a lot more wholesome with the context, I agree. Other than that it’s a quaint little entry that radiates “pleasantness” to me. 18. Ah, these guys. I do think the hate is a bit much but I do see where it comes from (I have similar thoughts with Toy from 2018 as well) 14. And this is what accidentally got me into Eurovision in the first place...curse those memes that are only funny for about 2 days... 5. This is also in my top 5, I kinda like how drastically different Poli’s two entries were. Sure I may not enjoy them equally but I can enjoy it as their own thing. In general though this is a personal favorite of mine! 2. Another random fact, apparently this dude wrote the Bosnian national anthem at some point. Finding out information like this about artists is definitely an interesting hobby of mine
Hello there :) There's nothing I love more in the world than thought dumps and responding to them! 38: I hear Glen is a really big Eurovision fan so I feel for him really wanting to go to the contest! He did an alright job and random people on the internet like me will talk about him forever, so you go, dude. :) 31: San Marino has wildly varied entry quality... their meme entries don't usually vibe with me, so I'll take Senit Part One, No H as one of the decent ones. No idea on the name change but her real first name is indeed Senhit! 29: How on earth did you stumble on this entry second?? That's quite funny. 28: I just tried it, and oh, it does sort of work. Mashup when? And yes, it does make me quite sad to look back on contests and realise even some recent entrants aren't with us anymore. 25: I have absolutely seen it higher on some lists! But I may be the biggest Portugal 2011 enthusiast on TH-cam :) Let's see how long this phase lasts. 21: Oh, I love random trivia and I love Winx Club so that's amazing knowledge! Did you know Jonsi of Never Forget fame did the LazyTown theme song? I love that man even more ever since I found out. 18: I see them near or at the bottom of lists sometimes, and I'm like.... come on, it wouldn't attract that much hate if it didn't win. I like Toy a bit more but in both cases I wish other entrants had won. But I don't think it's fair to say they were the worst or didn't deserve it. 2: Dino is apparently a legend in Bosnia! And for good reason, he makes great music. Thank you for the fact. :)
One of my personal favourite years. Sure it, had a weaker winner than many other years, but there were so many great songs in here! Here's my opinion! 43. Slovakia I've said this before: the sound of girl duos/trios has always annoyed me. This one is no exception. 42. Armenia The lyrics are stupid, the structure of this song is stupid. Just a stupid song in general. 41. Russia This song just feels so generic. The chorus really is what kills the song for me. 40. Poland The melody could have worked if the whole performance and vocals weren't such a mess. 39. France Opera in Eurovision sucks. And this one is boring as well. 38. Norway There is a reason why this one stayed in the semi-final. It's just the same typical Eurovision song. 37. Croatia Of course, this one's terrible, but it makes me laugh, so it's not last. Salad break, lol. 36. Israel Dana International is a winner I'm not a huge fan of overall. This song is just, nothing. Even her winning song was better. 35. Malta That's a weird chorus. And not in a good way. Not a fan. 34. Germany For some reason people like it. I see, it's dark and mysterious, but it's also boring. The performance was interesting, though. 33. Greece Yeah, the rap part kills this song, but the chorus always seemed really weak to me as well. 32. Portugal This one's something. I really like their signs and costumes, but the song is just, meh. 31. Belarus I appreciate the patriotism, but shouting: "I love Belarus" doesn't really work for me. 30. Belgium Belgium ripped off our song from 2006. They did manage to create a fun performance, but I've never been into the a cappella genre. 29. Latvia So we decided to send Musiqq instead of Lauris Reiniks, who had a really fun song and would be top 10 for me. This fact, plus their awful Latvian accent is enough to put this one in the non-qualifiers side. 28. Bulgaria This one's okay, but just okay for me. 27. Slovenia Yeah, yeah, yeah, she's got a great voice and all of that, but I just don't see anything special about this song. 26. San Marino Average song. Not a bad one, not a very good one. It's just there. 25. Azerbaijan So here's the infamous winner. It's not a bad song, but I liked the other 24 ones better. 24. Estonia Hah, people actually had this as a fan favourite. Well, the song's got energy and charisma, but nothing really else. Pretty accurate placement in the real contest. 23. North Macedonia First off, R.I.P., second of all, this is a fun song, but there's something missing there. 22. Albania Good ballad, but it goes over the top a lot of times in the song. 21. United Kingdom Hey, it's a boyband! Haven't seen one of these in a while! They had got a decent song, but not anything too special. 20. Finland This one's good, reminds me of Tom Dice, but it hasn't got the same charm, sadly. 19. Serbia I really like the retro sound here. The verses are great, but the chorus is a lot weaker, unfortunately. 18. Moldova Parts of this song are good, parts of it are not. I'm not a huge fan of the chaos in the middle of the song, but I really like the calmer parts. 17. Sweden This one's really full of energy! I also like the staging with the glass cage which is created in the middle of the performance. 16. Hungary Another energetic performance! The song's good, but the stage was a bit empty. 15. Austria A good ballad. Great voice. I can enjoy this one. 14. Ireland Yeah, I've heard lots of things about Jedward (not the best ones), but the song is catchy as hell and their outfits were crazy! 13. Denmark This feels like a generic poprock song, but I like the lyrics and the tone of the song. 12. Ukraine The performance was great. Taking a sand artist to Eurovision is such a creative idea! Also, the song's a nice ballad. 11. Switzerland Switzerland may have got the last place in final, but I'm just glad they qualified with this calm and peaceful track. 10. Georgia Great nu-metal song from Georgia! I especially like the instrumental! 9. Lithuania This one's basically Austria, but I enjoy the song a lot more, as it has a good buildup at the final chorus! 8. Spain Okay, this song is just too much fun. I can't help but enjoy it! 7. Italy Good jazz track. It has a lot of great moments. Awesome comeback by Italy! 6. Cyprus A mysterious tune with a good song structure and atmosphere. Love it! 5. Turkey So Turkey tried to change things up here. They wanted to come back to classic heavy metal after the nu-metal masterpiece that was "We Could Be The Same." This one sadly failed. But I still really like it! The guitar riff is really good, I love the chorus, and the performance was interesting. Good one! 4. Romania Fun, catchy, happy. Three words that perfectly describe this song. And that's why I love it. 3. The Netherlands Okay, this one's really underrated. The tone and structure of this song is really great! I especially love the chorus, which has a really good feel-good vibe! Amazing entry. 2. Iceland Charming lyrics, good vibes, great melody! There's a lot of things to love about this song. Iceland really nailed it this year. 1. Bosnia & Herzegovina Definitely my winner. Dino's got a great stage presence and he delivers this song so well! I also love the melody and the clever lyrics! Great entry and my favourite from Bosnia & Herzegovina!
I heavily disagree with Portugal and Poland in your top 26, but meh, it's your opinion. I don't think I need to explain on Portugal, but in the case of Poland, it's a really clear case of not being able to deliver a solid live performance. It went first in the running order, the staging was lame, and the vocals weren't adequate either. Despite that, the studio track is pretty good, so it's just like with others such as Armenia 2019, or North Macedonia 2018.
Hello :) Well, with Portugal, I like a good joke entry, ESPECIALLY a political one (yep, Euro Neuro is also in my top 25), so it was pretty funny to me! Not for everyone, though. As for Jestem... I think it depends on how much you're willing to look past an awful live because you think the song is great, and that differs depending on the person. #21 is actually pretty stringent of me, since I would rank both Walking Out and Lost and Found in my top 15. The only difference is Jestem is a song that would be top 10 for me with good staging, whereas the other two could even be my personal winners with good staging. So I knock them back accordingly. I hope that sort of makes sense!
@@eurovisiongal7007 I suppose so, but even then, the only time I personally really like troll acts, is when they do have something memorable besides purely the message or single stage gimmick. The issue I have with for example, Euro Neuro, is that except the fact that the lyrics are funny, nothing else really stands out for me. Compare that to, for example, Lithuania in 2010, and you get yourself a funny message, iconic performance and decent vocals along with it. Believe me, Walking Out was in my top5 before the rehearsals of 2019, and seeing it live just really sucked the interest out of it for me. I somehow can't seem to hear it differently anymore, even when I listen to the studio cut. And at least I'm glad to know you put at least most of the terrible songs of 2011 low xD
@@ESCStroopwafel ooh, spoiler alert but while I ranked Portugal 2011 and Montenegro 2012 high partially bc their years aren't so strong for me, I put Lithuania 2010 even higher despite loving the year! It's an excellent and clever song. :) I think funny lyrics and themes can be enough sometimes when the competing entries are mostly bad attempts at making a high quality song. It's all about how well you do what you're setting out to do 😇
@@ESCStroopwafel In my actual 2019 video I made a year ago, I did rank Walking Out lower, mid twenties, because it disappointed me so much. But I'm a little over it now the dust has settled, so I gave it a bump because why not 💁♀️
43: Yeah no comments needed here😂 42: I don't like it either it gets on my nerves a bit 41: one of the worst esc songs ever 40: can't stand it either 39: talented people but the song is repetitive 38: generic as hell 37: it's solid but nothing spectacular 36: I don't like it it's bland. 35: mediocre 34: it's good but as you said it's a bit basic 33: it's a nice effort by my country but not my style 32: I am not kidding this is my third place!!!! I like it a lot it's so enjoyable. 31: mediocre 30: a mediocre popera song 29: yeah this is terrible. 28: I LOVE THIS SONG. I like the Russian folk it contains!!! 27: She is a great performer. 26: such a feel- good song 25: I love this song it has a message and it's enjoyable 24: no it's not so good. 23: good 22: nice interpretation 21: eh meh 20: so damn catchy 19: a cute little song 18: meeeeehhh 17: no I don't like it sorry 16: my winner that year. Such an energetic rock song. 15: And my second place of that year. Catchy as hell and with a nice 70s vibe 14: catchy but nothing more. 13: cute but boring IMO 12: eh it's good I guess 11: it's a bop. I like it. 10: beautiful song I enjoy it a lot. 9: nice staging idea. The song is not on the same level though.. 8: No I can't stand boybands sorry. 7: Again too generic for my taste. 6: Yeah I love this one. You are right it has a strong retro vibe. 5: I like this a lot as well. 4: Nice interpretation. 3: Jazz at Eurovision!!! I like it. 2: Again retro and very enjoyable. 1: Sorry but it's not my cup of tea. It had a nice performance though!!! My top 5: 1. Georgia 2. Romania 3. The Netherlands 4. Serbia 5. North Macedonia
Hello!! Thanks for the comment, a few little responses: 40: Kind of glad I'm not the only one who dislike this, it did so well in the contest, which confused me! 32: I do feel like I underrated this in hindsight! I really like the song, even if the performance was questionable. I read that they didn't rehearse it at all until they got to Dusseldorf!! 28: Another one that won't stop growing on me.... so interesting, I feel like every Macedonian entry besides their 2019 one was underrated this decade! 25: Omg, you may be one of the first commenters to agree that this is good! I just find it so amusing. 15: I love the retro thing, it has a very cute hook too! 8: Very valid to dislike this, I think it's just one of those things I personally feel nostalgic for! 3: I would love to see more jazz songs!! It's such an interesting genre that we hardly see. 2: I never considered this song retro before but I think you may have a point! 1: Also a rightfully divisive entry! It's very experimental, so again, down to personal preference!
@@esctoroshelidze5439 I know of quite a few fans who say the song is their favourite of the year, or even their favourite Georgian entry! It's a very cool song.
okay, i know almost nothing at all about the 2011 contest, so this is mostly going to be a first impressions thing: (there’s a * next to the entries that i have heard) 43: i’m already one second into the clip of the song, and i can already comment on how terrible these vocals are. the lyrics are very cringe-worthy and the staging creates an atmosphere of a child’s birthday party (although, i can’t say that it makes a negative impression on me, like france 2012). *42: okay, i know this one! the vocals are... i guess “okay”, the entire song is a complete twisted mess (the verses and the chorus just... don’t really match) and the staging and their outfits... oh god, oh god, oh god, i have so many questions already... and yes, definitely not really entertaining. 41: okay, i kind of get the stuff that are happening on stage... and i kind of don’t at the same time, as the theme they chose is definitely strange. as for the song, it is quite cheap-sounding, and brings up many more questions regarding the strange noises she makes at random times. 40: the lyrics remind me of those creepy, stalker-themed 90s and 80s songs. his vocals are very off-key, and the song sounds very much like... generic, terrible early 2010s dance music, i guess? 39: okay, i appreciate their effort and work, but this is definitely not something i would casually listen to. 38: was 2011 the year of awkward staging themes? as for the song, it is very annoying and unentertaining. 37: okay... i’m not a big fan of “we could be the same”, but i can already tell that this lifeless mess is way worse. 36: definitely quite disappointing, as it is a legendary winner returning to the contest with a mediocre, forgettable song and performance. it is exactly the same for me with rybak in 2018. 35: reminds me of early 2000s pop music... britney spears for some reason, maybe? it is quite dull and repetitive, but i can still manage to listen to it. 34: wait, this won the jury vote in the semi-final? her voice is pretty nice, actually. i’m not a big fan of musical theatre, so this song is not for me. definitely a very random pick. *33: as a russian living in cyprus, i have quite bad experience with greek popular music. having to hear it almost every day, my relationship with greek popular music came to a point where i started despising it. and, that mixed with rap, another genre i’m not a fan of, especially if it is done terribly in random parts of the song? well, here comes my worst nightmare... 32: yet another messy performance! i’ll soon probably lose count, this year has so many... the song, in this case, however, is actually pretty good. 31: after hearing her 2020 entry, i can clearly see that this is not the song for her. so far, i don’t really like it, and that “sweet” factor that it’s supposed to have isn’t really getting to me. 32: the aesthetic of the staging is actually quite wonderful, with the backdrop and stuff! however, with songs like this one, i like them more when they create some sort of atmosphere and make an impression on me. “la forza” did that pretty well, but this one pretty much failed to do it. 29: okay, the lyrics for this song are absolutely ridiculous (also, it’s quite uncommon for eurovision songs to have the name of the country they represent). however, i quite like the slavic rock influence in their song. when i listen to the full thing, i hope most of the screaming won’t make me cringe from it being so out-of-place! (i had that with finland 2014) 28: so, they decided to incorporate some traditional elements in their staging and song, as i see. however, unlike you, i’m not really into his voice as vocals like these get irritating to me over time. 27: yes, it seems like the performance looks way better than the song. the song is quite decent, but definitely not the best, but the staging, so far, is one of the best out of the tangled mess of ridiculous staging themes we saw in the previous entries. 26: definitely sounds like a forgettable entry. i’m not really a big fan of songs that give off an impression of summer and the tropical beach, like this one, so, not really for me. 25: i did not yet research the meaning of this song, so i cannot really say anything about it. the only thing i so far understand is “is joy”, written in greek on one of the signs. i would understand that an entry in a language like this would not score high, as many people do not speak portuguese. 24: oh, so here come the wonderful staging? i quite like that cyprus decided to send a song in greek that year! it actually sounds like quite a good entry. the female voice was definitely... unexpected for me though. *23: ah yes, it’s the middle-aged dads at a wedding from “the guilty pleasures” video! the lyrics are definitely... something, but overall, this entry is quite entertaining. 22: okay, taking back my opinions on musical theater i told you about earlier... this actually sounds very good. 21: the song sounds like something i would enjoy listening to! however, yes, another awkward staging added to the very long list for eurovision 2011. *20: this song gets stuck in my head very often since i first heard it. the staging is a mess (i mean, what would you expect from jedward?) and they don’t sound either awful or amazing, and their outfits... overall, this is a decently wonderful entry. 19: any song called “coming home” reminds me of malta 2014, and i quite hate that entry so songs with this name always give a bad impression on me, which is very unfortunate... but with this song, i actually really like it! it’s quite cute. *18: it’s definitely not the worst, but it definitely sounds more like a grand final 21st place than a winner. i don’t really like their voices and the sound was okay, but it’s definitely not the worst compared to some of the previous entries! 17: i actually quite like the story it tells! the theme they chose for the performance is very good, i don’t know what to say about the verses as i haven’t heard them... overall, it’s quite good. *16: the rap part reminded me a lot of the band evanescence. it was as if they were trying to be a bit in their style, but it didn’t go so well. the rap parts in their song sounded really out-of-place. but they definitely did not deserve the award for most ridiculous-looking outfits... like, take a look at moldova. 15: definitely a fun and cheerful entry, as i can see by the chorus! the performance is also quite decent. *14: okay, this song always seemed very annoying to me, so i never really liked it. however, i respect your opinion on it. the staging definitely reminds me of something... and i don’t even remember what it is! also i did not get into eurovision because of this, but because of germany 2010 instead. 13: not really memorable-seeming, but it’s actually quite a good, cheerful song with good vocals. *12: hey, i actually quite like it! it’s definitely not the rock i’m used to, but it’s definitely quite a good rock anthem. i haven’t watched the contest, so i don’t know about whatever happened in the green room. 11: her vocals are quite good and the song sounds good too! the first thing i paid attention to was the outfit, though, and i cannot even say if it is good-looking or not. 10: this is absolutely adorable! i remember it having quite a good message too. his voice is not annoying at all to me, and the song seems very pleasant. i haven’t heard the whole thing though. *9: i really like this entry, it is indeed very captivating! i’m really used to this style of music too, so this had a very pleasant listening experience. the staging was very good too... and then “stay” copied it, taking it straight to the 40th place where it will stay forever, because nothing in 2019 is worse than d-mol for me. *8: it’s pretty good, actually! definitely not the worst of the uk’s entries. i’ve heard of the band itself, but i’ve never heard any of their songs since i never really had any interest in boy bands. *7: already in the first verse of this song, we’ve got some genius rhyming: “possible” with “impossible” (reminds me of a canadian band who rhymed “fire” with “fire”). it is quite trashy, but it still counts as a good entry to me. 6: the song and the staging look very retro, and her voice is great! overall, it’s quite a pleasant entry. 5: definitely very different to poli’s 2016 entry, but it is still as equally amazing. i actually think i would like this one more than that one, actually. 4: the song seems really... dramatic to me so far? her voice is great, and the song seems quite good. the staging is also decent. *3: this song is definitely not for me, as i am not a big fan of this genre, so i am not really a big fan of it, but i respect your opinion (actually, i also sometimes have that in my rankings! i don’t have a super strong opinion on my winner of 2019, so the winner constantly switches between norway and iceland, and my favorite eurovision entries of all time are two entries that got a 2nd and a 4th place in the rankings of the year they were in). *2: it got a bit irritating to me over time, but overall this is a great entry! it’s quite cute, and i quite like the story that it tells. *1: sorry, but i do not like this entry a lot. the song seems quite dull to me, does not make any impression on me, and i don’t really enjoy listening to it. i, for some reason, enjoyed listening to “satellite” more than this. this entry is definitely not in my top 10, but i respect your opinion and i understand why you might put it as a 1st place.
Hello again!! 43: This song was originally called 'Break a Leg' at the national selection, and was even worse.... Croatia have really lost it recently, at least their 2020 entry is alright. 41: I think the theme is supposed to be "I'm so intensely in love, it's like being punched in a boxing match! Boom boom, chaka chaka!" Bizarre, I hope Armenia never sends such a bad pop song again. 40: This song was actually written by the VERY prolific and well-known producer RedOne. He clearly wasn't trying very hard, just took the paycheck and left... 38: The VAST MAJORITY of entries this year looked hideous. The stage didn't help... the LED wall was too enormous, the stage was dark, and the circular shape was so awkward to work with. 34: 2011 was also a year in which juries wildly disagreed with televoters.... televoters ranked her well out of the top 10, but she was the juries fav in her semi, so to the final the very bland but vocally perfect song went! 33: I actually really enjoy rap and hip hop in my spare time, but it's almost always horrible at ESC... there were actually a few excellent rap entries at the National Selections this year, but none of them made it! 29: I think true rockers should be a little screamy! :) 25: I forgot to write these videos bearing in mind that some people aren't familiar with the songs! I will do that in future. The song is "the struggle is joy", and they are cheerfully pushing back against social oppression from governments by claiming their difficulties make them strong-willed, and are even dressed as stereotypical revolutionary caricatures. This song was used in actual protests in Portugal at the time of its release! I really like it with context. 19: More context required... an Icelandic artist named Sjonni who was due to compete in the National Selection with this song died suddenly. So a group of artists made the band 'Sjonni's Friends' to compete in his memory, which touched people so much they made it to the contest. It is quite sweet, but I am disappointed that Yohanna, former runner up and singer of one of my fav entries ever "Is It True?" in 2009, didn't return with her beautiful song instead. 14: This placement is almost entirely fuelled by nostalgia for me! 12: When the band received points, shouted some lewd comments at the camera person.... he was very drunk, and apologised later. I was scandalised! 11: It's a difficult song to sing, and she struggled on a lot of the chorus.... I'm sad the song bombed so badly, it would've been a nice winner. 8: I used to have their CDs! I think Blue's most famous song is probably 'All Rise'! I really like it, very 2000s. 1: I have very particular tastes and enjoy experimental music a lot! This song is very unique sounding and suspenseful for me. I don't think it's for everyone, which is why it just about came top 10. I absolutely love Satellite too, however, and will be praising it accordingly in my 2010 video :) I also think it's the song that is most true to Lena as a person, whereas this one has her adopt a new persona (which she does very well, tbh!)
eurovision gal hi! 40: i could have never realized that redone wrote this, as he wrote the song “lonely lisa” with mylène farmer, which was one of my favorite non-eurovision french songs at some point. definitely, definitely he was not trying hard at all. 38: and i though the 2017 stage looked hideous... 29: i normally divide rock songs into three categories: “this is not heavy enough; needs more screaming”, “great!” and “why is there screaming in this, it doesn’t belong in this song.” so, for me, not all rock songs should be screamy. 19: i understand how they made it into eurovision now. also, “is it true” is also one of my all-time favorites! i’ve never heard her 2011 national selection song though, but i expect it to be great. i remember she got 3rd place in the national selection, or something? 8: okay, i’ll try to check it out! i did not own any cds in the past that did not belong to my grandma before they came into my possession, so most of the stuff i owned were by the beatles and pink floyd, and i definitely did not enjoy listening to them that much, as i was about 9 or 10 years old.
@@asya1689 Hmm, I sort of see what you mean about rock songs and screaming. I liked it in Something Better because it sounded very raw and emotional, but was kind of jarring in a very "pop" rock song. Yohanna's 2011 song is called "Nott" and it's very beautiful! She entered again in 2013 but the new song wasn't nearly as good. I think she's done with ESC now which is a shame but at least we have one amazing song of hers at the contest.

I think, Lenas 2011 song was ways better than her winning song in 2010! So she should have got the trophy a second time! And I like that you ranked Anna Rossinelli much higher than she was... Because I like her music (and herself...) she deserved a better place than she got!
I really love both Lena songs, but I think I do prefer this one! And yes, Anna is great. I do think placing last in the final as a non big five entry isn't so bad? She managed to qualify after all! But I do absolutely think she deserved better, it's a lovely song.
eurovision gal I don’t mean the last place is bad, I only thin some songs wich are placed higher, For example Estonia and Austria, which in my opinion deserved a lower place than Switzerland... But it was great that she made it to the grand final!
A year of many flops and trainwrecks, yet I'm still quite nostalgic for it??? 🤔 It's definitely something. Anyway thanks for 100 subs and look forward to the last year of the decade 😘
eurovision gal what was the Denmark lead singer doing in the green room
Great top 5 👍
Slovenia honestly should be #1. SOOO good and underrated. Vocals were on point, a phenomenal build up to the captivating ending, the background, it's just so amazing.
I totally agree with you. Underrated.
I will never understand how Azerbaijan won in 2011. It is really forgettable among the other entries and it is for sure worse than at least 10 other songs.
Yeah
Agree with what a lot of others said that 2011 was a pretty weak year, and it is crazy just how many songs that were meant to do well ended up doing pretty badly.
Lena definitely takes the best song, but I also really loved the entries from Denmark, Moldova, Ireland and the UK this year. This is probably Ireland's best entry in the past 20 years, and much better than the song Jedward did in 2012.
Great vid, we have the same top three. Bosnia's my fav though because every time I listen to it it puts me in such a good mood
What a coincidence!! The Bosnian entry always makes me smile too :)

This year was really *filled* with some awful, horrendous songs. It probably has the worst bottom 10 of any year, even 2017, which I like even less, overall.
But good video!
Sorry but I am obsessed with Portugal's song :)
Thanks for Place 1 🇩🇪♥️
Thank you from Bulgaria!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ And thank you for putting Slovenia in the top 4, they were my first and they were severely underrated. Also, Germany was my 2nd 😍 We've got a similar taste
Yes!! Maja would have been an epic winner, fingers crossed she makes a comeback one of these days! And thank Poli for being amazing, not me. :)
Slovenia and Italy are amazing😍
Love from Germany
I am checking every top of 2011's eurovision , and cant understand any top. Why Loucas Yiorkas isn't on first place? 33? rly? And Cyprus on 24th place... realy? France 30? No1 understand what music is...
i hate the rapper in the greek song so much lol
do you not understand people have *OPINIONS* MA GUY
@@eurovisiongal7007 why do you hate him?
Totally agree!!!! Germany and Bosnia-Herzegovina were the best!
I've been binge watching eurovision from 2021 down today, and this is the first one I see where they actually don't all sound the same
Oi, what's wrong with emotional constipation? I've had that for decades. Hey, thanks for putting Poli top 5, I've been waging a one-man campaign to convince anyone that cares (i.e. no-one) that it was THE best entry 2011. It's top of my list, which admittedly only stretches to five, as my concentration wanders when it gets lower down the order than that. (I start saying things like "oh oh, looks like another great entry by Belarus.")
6:35 Place 25 Not 26
Thank you for pointing that out!! Apologies, I do make a few little mistakes every video but there's a lot to do 😅
I could totally live with that order 💪😍
I wouldn't have put Lena in first, but I do think "Taken by a Stranger" is a song that has held up surprisingly well. It might be better now, somehow, than it was in 2011.
I love your videos! My winner is Denmark
Thank you so much! That's a great winner, I really like their song!
Lena was very underrated, it should have been top 5

Ohhh boy, 2011...what a strange year. Just gonna do my random thought dump except this time it’s not the entire list because what can I even say about a good chunk of these entries, lmao.
43. Same last place, the whole thing is pretty sloppy
40. legit forgot russia even competed that year, though i can basically say that about a huge chunk of entries that year
38. My second last, the song just annoys me but I heard he’s a fine and dandy dude so no ill will against him
By no means the best song but I can find ironic enjoyment in it
24. Ah yes, the wailing woman...I actually find this song quite nice, it’s not competitive but it kinda resonates with me, despite not knowing the language all that well
21. With a better live/audio mixing it probably would’ve been a bit higher...apparently I found out she did some of the songs for the Polish dub of Winx Club and they’re actually pretty good (there’s your useless trivia for the day)
19. It’s a lot more wholesome with the context, I agree. Other than that it’s a quaint little entry that radiates “pleasantness” to me.
18. Ah, these guys. I do think the hate is a bit much but I do see where it comes from (I have similar thoughts with Toy from 2018 as well)
31: San Marino has wildly varied entry quality... their meme entries don't usually vibe with me, so I'll take Senit Part One, No H as one of the decent ones.
I wish you would comment more on the song itself than the vocalists...
2011 is the only year my winner didn't make it to the final. Poli Genova is my Johnny Logan. I made her win in 2011 and in 2016.
Same with my opinions about Sergey Lazarev, he's my winner of both years
My top 5:
5. Russia
4. Sweden
3. Denmark
2. Greece
1. Portugal❤❤❤❤❤❤
One of my personal favourite years. Sure it, had a weaker winner than many other years, but there were so many great songs in here! Here's my opinion!
43. Slovakia
I've said this before: the sound of girl duos/trios has always annoyed me. This one is no exception.
42. Armenia
The lyrics are stupid, the structure of this song is stupid. Just a stupid song in general.
41. Russia
This song just feels so generic. The chorus really is what kills the song for me.
40. Poland
The melody could have worked if the whole performance and vocals weren't such a mess.
39. France
Opera in Eurovision sucks. And this one is boring as well.
38. Norway
There is a reason why this one stayed in the semi-final. It's just the same typical Eurovision song.
37. Croatia
Of course, this one's terrible, but it makes me laugh, so it's not last. Salad break, lol.
36. Israel
Dana International is a winner I'm not a huge fan of overall. This song is just, nothing. Even her winning song was better.
35. Malta
That's a weird chorus. And not in a good way. Not a fan.
34. Germany
For some reason people like it. I see, it's dark and mysterious, but it's also boring. The performance was interesting, though.
33. Greece
Yeah, the rap part kills this song, but the chorus always seemed really weak to me as well.
32. Portugal
This one's something. I really like their signs and costumes, but the song is just, meh.
31. Belarus
I appreciate the patriotism, but shouting: "I love Belarus" doesn't really work for me.
30. Belgium
Belgium ripped off our song from 2006. They did manage to create a fun performance, but I've never been into the a cappella genre.
29. Latvia
So we decided to send Musiqq instead of Lauris Reiniks, who had a really fun song and would be top 10 for me. This fact, plus their awful Latvian accent is enough to put this one in the non-qualifiers side.
28. Bulgaria
This one's okay, but just okay for me.
27. Slovenia
Yeah, yeah, yeah, she's got a great voice and all of that, but I just don't see anything special about this song.
26. San Marino
Average song. Not a bad one, not a very good one. It's just there.
25. Azerbaijan
So here's the infamous winner. It's not a bad song, but I liked the other 24 ones better.
24. Estonia
Hah, people actually had this as a fan favourite. Well, the song's got energy and charisma, but nothing really else. Pretty accurate placement in the real contest.
23. North Macedonia
First off, R.I.P., second of all, this is a fun song, but there's something missing there.
22. Albania
Good ballad, but it goes over the top a lot of times in the song.
21. United Kingdom
Hey, it's a boyband! Haven't seen one of these in a while! They had got a decent song, but not anything too special.
20. Finland
This one's good, reminds me of Tom Dice, but it hasn't got the same charm, sadly.
19. Serbia
I really like the retro sound here. The verses are great, but the chorus is a lot weaker, unfortunately.
18. Moldova
Parts of this song are good, parts of it are not. I'm not a huge fan of the chaos in the middle of the song, but I really like the calmer parts.
17. Sweden
This one's really full of energy! I also like the staging with the glass cage which is created in the middle of the performance.
16. Hungary
Another energetic performance! The song's good, but the stage was a bit empty.
15. Austria
A good ballad. Great voice. I can enjoy this one.
14. Ireland
Yeah, I've heard lots of things about Jedward (not the best ones), but the song is catchy as hell and their outfits were crazy!
13. Denmark
This feels like a generic poprock song, but I like the lyrics and the tone of the song.
12. Ukraine
The performance was great. Taking a sand artist to Eurovision is such a creative idea! Also, the song's a nice ballad.
11. Switzerland
Switzerland may have got the last place in final, but I'm just glad they qualified with this calm and peaceful track.
10. Georgia
Great nu-metal song from Georgia! I especially like the instrumental!
9. Lithuania
This one's basically Austria, but I enjoy the song a lot more, as it has a good buildup at the final chorus!
8. Spain
Okay, this song is just too much fun. I can't help but enjoy it!
7. Italy
Good jazz track. It has a lot of great moments. Awesome comeback by Italy!
6. Cyprus
A mysterious tune with a good song structure and atmosphere. Love it!
5. Turkey
So Turkey tried to change things up here. They wanted to come back to classic heavy metal after the nu-metal masterpiece that was "We Could Be The Same." This one sadly failed. But I still really like it! The guitar riff is really good, I love the chorus, and the performance was interesting. Good one!
4. Romania
Fun, catchy, happy. Three words that perfectly describe this song. And that's why I love it.
3. The Netherlands
Okay, this one's really underrated. The tone and structure of this song is really great! I especially love the chorus, which has a really good feel-good vibe! Amazing entry.
2. Iceland
Charming lyrics, good vibes, great melody! There's a lot of things to love about this song. Iceland really nailed it this year.
1. Bosnia & Herzegovina
Definitely my winner. Dino's got a great stage presence and he delivers this song so well! I also love the melody and the clever lyrics! Great entry and my favourite from Bosnia & Herzegovina!

I agree with Armenia. You mentioned Srbuk and Sevak, yeeees. They were robbed
But I'm a little over it now the dust has settled, so I gave it a bump because why not 💁♀️
PORTUGAL IS STILL LOW
It's my winner of 2011😍
43: Yeah no comments needed here😂

14: catchy but nothing more.
13: cute but boring IMO
12: eh it's good I guess
11: it's a bop.
My top 5:
1. Georgia
2. Romania
3. The Netherlands
4. Serbia
5. North Macedonia
Same. Winner. Are you my lost twin or something?
Hello!! Thanks for the comment, a few little responses:
40: Kind of glad I'm not the only one who dislike this, it did so well in the contest, which confused me!
@@eurovisiongal7007 that's me
@@esctoroshelidze5439 hehe I love this song glad you also like it
okay, i know almost nothing at all about the 2011 contest, so this is mostly going to be a first impressions thing:
(there’s a * next to the entries that i have heard)
43: i’m already one second into the clip of the song, and i can already comment on how terrible these vocals are. the lyrics are very cringe-worthy and the staging creates an atmosphere of a child’s birthday party (although, i can’t say that it makes a negative impression on me, like france 2012).
(i had that with finland 2014)
28: so, they decided to incorporate some traditional elements in their staging and song, as i see. however, unlike you, i’m not really into his voice as vocals like these get irritating to me over time.
25: I forgot to write these videos bearing in mind that some people aren't familiar with the songs!
Also yeah Blue shoudlve come higher im calling it.

The worst winner of ESC. A dull, forgettable generic monotonous song without personality, without character. Awful.
Yeap, 3rd worst for me after 2001 and 2002.

2011, 2016 and 2018 were the bad years of the last decade.
Satellite is terrible. We should have won in 2011 and not in 2010, lol
Azerbaijan is number one👍🏻💎
Such a weak year 2011 was :/
