Thank you so much sir for your explanations. I have watched several of these videos and this is the first time someone indicated how long to sit the iron before sliding it forward. Very helpful indeed.
You’re right Tim Bell This guy is getting by like so many others in the carpet business he doesn’t have a clue. The only thing he did right was cutting the seam from the back it is totally wrong and straight edges are not for beginners it’s a mistake proof tool if you know how to use it correctly.. he does not have the sense to stretch away from seams this joker has more callbacks on wrinkled carpet. And seams coming apart no doubt. Over 30 years experience Speaking here

Question do you pre load your seam iron with glue off the tape? I noticed if you keep it on there to long ittle pickup glue onto iron. Thanks. Quick response be appreciated im doing my carpet now
I have some installers putting my carpet in and I could tell when they walked in it was going to be a mess. Patna hanging down, using box cutters.. They are still working on the seams, I’m gonna give it awhile and try not to jump the gun, but if I can see the seams I’m gonna raise hell with the store owner
So I can't tell you missed 2 and some might say 3 steps. You definitely need a board under so you don't burn your padding and also you need a small 16in 2x12 on top of the seam to press the glue into the carpet to make sure no return for repair is needed
Ok to be clear , using a straight edge does not make you a beginner...the way this dude is cutting his seams is ridiculous...if it works for him that's great , but this method is nonsense

Is there a way to fix a seam without that iron.

good one
I watched a carpet guy install mine - he used the lid of the toilet tank to press on the seam as he went - seam is completely invisible.
Where’s the weight lol and your seam roller?
Nice technique! However not using a straight edge EVERY time I disagree with, steady hands or not.
