Growing up in the 80's, almost all of the these artists were on MTV. Watched lots of reactions to this and people always love it when Ray Charles shows up! GOATed!
This was the US song for Band Aid started by Bob Geldorf . This was done in one night after the Grammys of 1984 . Everyone agreed to do it , song written by michael jackson and lional ritchie , arrangement and conducter is quincy jones
I always thought he was autotuned for his songs with Journey. His voice just has that unusual, magical quality that you hear in 80s rock so often. It surprised me so much to first hear him in this song and see he naturally sounds like that. What a unique and gorgeous voice.
My dad bought this record when it came out... and I played this record over and over every day for a week.. until it got on my dads nerves and he hid the damn thing from me! lol.. I found it later on! I own it to this day!! :)
This Video was made in 1985 USA 🇺🇸 For Africa to help the starving people in Africa! It was a collection of famous Pop ,Country, Soul and rock! It was produced by Quincy Jones !

Great reaction! They actually redid this with newer artists to raise money for Haiti. It's called We Are The World 25 for Haiti. You guys should check it out
This is the ultimate collab. Unbeaten to this day, not only in scale but in purpose and execution. They all left their egos outside. And you can feel it. Too bad world ain't capable of stuff like this anymore.
For me the most impresive of this song is there is a bunch of legends, I repeat: LEGENDS... singing together as a gospel choir! You won't see something like this anymore, for sure.
When everyone sings with their heart, it’s beautiful! When Bruce Springsteen sings he does it with his heart and his guts: and it becomes big! Respect for the Boss!
Band Aid which comprised all the top musicians/pop artists did this first and it was on the back of that success that America followed suit. Both brilliant!
Late to the party here, but that Band Aid song is one of the worst songs ever recorded, even if the intention was good. This one is in a different universe entirely. There are so many legends in this. I wish Prince, Madonna, Tom Petty and a few others I can think of had participated, but that’s splitting hairs.

Band Aid also raised money for relief in Africa. They actually did it first. Band Aid was composed of primarily Artists from England and Ireland. Also, here in USA, Artists did a benefit for American Farmers and it was titled 'Farm Aid'.

They actually remade this song in 2010 when Haiti had the earth quake. It has Justin Bieber, Janet Jackson, Jennifer Hudson, Toni Braxton, Usher, Wyclef and a whole bunch of other artists
I loved these songs they came out with to raise money for charity. The UK one, Feed The World, and the Canadian one, Tears Are Not Enough are both excellent too.
You guys need to watch the Making of We Are The World. You think the song is incredible, it will blow your mind how they put all this together in one night from about 10:00pm to 8:00am the next morning beginning after the Academy Awards.
Love the song and performance . it embodies the true spirit of America. Don't believe the ish they trying to use to divide us and tear America apart by. Soon after the UK-based Band Aid group released DO THEY KNOW ITS CHRISTMAS in Dec. 1984 .. Musician & activist Harry Belafonte began to think about an American benefit single for African famine relief. He enlisted Ken Kragen to help bring the vision to reality. Michael Jackson & Lionel Ritchie were assigned to write the song! The single was released on March 7, 1985 and became the fastest selling U.S. pop single in history! 🌎🌟⭐️💫✨
Appreciate how much you appreciated this song/video! It is a great collaboration. Have you reacted to We Are The World for Haiti? Also, great, and a little more recent so you would probably recognize even more artists. Have a blessed day!
There's a interview here on TH-cam with Lionel Richie on Jimmy Kimmel where he talks about calling Prince to be on this song and video but he made the mistake telling him he was going to put him next to Michael in a duet. Prince asked for a solo set and Lionel said he couldn't do it... Prince and Michael would have been nuts together on this track
Everyone in that room was super talented and super famous. They didn't have enough solo parts for everyone who showed up, but even the singers in the background were superstars in their own right!
Quincy Jones was the mastermind behind this project. When he made MJ's Thriller, he told several of the musicians and arrangers his precise thoughts on meshing r&b, pop, rock, etc . . . on almosr every song. He wanted the songs to touch/reach as many of us as possible. As you stated in your reaction, it was his "vision" for each singer to bring their own flair and nuance to the song, while keeping the passion ant it's essence. MASTERPIECE!
@@for-house-stark It was a collaboration between Jones and Jackson. What I was commenting on was Jones' integration of several musical genres to make the music accessible to a wider audience. The same for We Are The World, Jackson and Richie wrote the song, and the event was inspired by Harry Belafonte. Although the arrangement and positioning of the specific vocals solos and musicians were the work of Jones, as he orchestrated, conducted & arrange the overall music event.
@@EvilTheOne well given that your comment gave absolutely no credit to MJ, you made it seem like it wasn't really a collaboration, just quincys work. Well go watch the thriller 40 documentary and learn more, you'll see the project was MJs vision
@@for-house-stark I'm over 60 years of age, and grew up listening to and following the career of Michael Jackson through the Jackson 5 and The Jacksons. I also grew up listening to most all of the projects that Quincy Jones worked on over the years through the 1960's - 1970's. So hearing them merge they creative process when Michael was breaking away from his brothers was a great transition. For me, the evolution of 'Thriller' begun all the way back when Michael evolve and ascended in being the lead vocal for the Jackson 5. Michael and his brothers evolution for growth wouldn't have happened if they had stayed with Motown Records. And Epic Records allowed Michael to branch out way beyond and even further.
I was in 7th grade when this song came out, I remember watching the video on MTV ( when they had top 10s). The song and artists on the song are priceless and timeless. Love this song so much. You guys should react to the remake of this song, they sung this song under in the 2010s for Haiti.
Love the fact that the younger generation are learning and appreciating these acts of years gone by.
Quincy posted a sign on the entrance to the studio that said “Leave your egos at the door” ☺️. What a major recording session.
And they did and made history
I remember when they were making this video and song I was so thrilled that my Queen Cyndi Lauper was going to be part of it I would rush home from work just to see her part in it ...its a beautiful song and was done for a great cause and I still love Cyndi Lauper today...

Thank you soooooo much for this! I've seen this added on other "We Are The World" reactions. I was going to try & find it for Rico & Crys so they could quickly click on the ones they weren't certain of. It's AWESOME 🤩 you took the time to post it for everyone, Lisa! Appreciate you!
I think what caught my eye the first time I read it was that Phil Collins played the drums 🥁 in the song. For me, it was the cherry on top!
@@jennhurl Phil may have added some percussion ( and I didn't know that before), but it was L.A. studio session master John 'J.R." Robinson playing the main drumset part.
Thank you!! 🙏💯 means a lot
@@TheRealRecklezz your welcome Keep Rocking Guys love your channel
@@jennhurl I thought Phil Collins played drums on the UK and Ireland song Do The Know It's Christmas by Band Aid that this song was inspired by.
Michael had a message and started speaking out about the industry and Hollywood and the Illuminati. He had a beautiful message and he was a genius
All these artists put their attitudes aside and did this recording for a cause. It is beautiful! I was 25 when this came out and I remember it!
The American Music Awards happened that day of the recording. Many artists were in town for that. Other artists were asked and they flew in from where they were. Netflix has a great documentary on the making of this. Egos were asked to stay out. Such a precious moment. Thank you for sharing.
Cyndi Lauper And Steve Perry with the stars of this video by far the outlast everybody
This is a once in a lifetime masterpiece, we will never see this much talent in one song ever again….I cry everytime I watch this
@ 8:55 is my favorite part of this reaction, just that super genuine smile that came from hearing Stevie, good stuff! Love you guys! Hope the little one is doing well! 🙏👍
I love the reactions of the young people. I love seeing your lady smile so much. We were so blessed to be a part of these singers 😻
No autotune!! Epic...awesome vocals!! True talent.
It’s awesome that you’ve reacted to enough music that you recognize so many of the artists! You’re way ahead of most of your peers in your music knowledge I’m sure. Great reaction!
Growing up in the 80's, almost all of the these artists were on MTV. Watched lots of reactions to this and people always love it when Ray Charles shows up! GOATed!
They went straight from an award to the studio that’s how they were able to get all the celebrities together
This was the US song for Band Aid started by Bob Geldorf . This was done in one night after the Grammys of 1984 . Everyone agreed to do it , song written by michael jackson and lional ritchie , arrangement and conducter is quincy jones
Steve "the Voice " Perry is the best male Voice in human History
This is one of the best song that have been ever made, vocals are amazing, itvs been over 20 years that I listening to this song and every time I had to have a full valume and get goosebumps
👍❤️
***Many Voices. Once Common Goal. Helping the Famine of Africa.
A room full of legends came together for a great cause and sad we will never see this kind of raw talent like this together ever again.
Quincy Jones was smart by planning the taping after an awards show that made it easier to get everyone in one place
Check out "We're stars" by Hear 'n Aid, when various rock/metal bands came together to do their part to fight famine in Africa. It's awesome!!
Band Aid which comprised all the top musicians/pop artists did this first and it was on the back of that success that America followed suit. Both brilliant!
Band Aid no tuvo ni 5 % de la repercusión que tuvo esto.
Late to the party here, but that Band Aid song is one of the worst songs ever recorded, even if the intention was good. This one is in a different universe entirely. There are so many legends in this. I wish Prince, Madonna, Tom Petty and a few others I can think of had participated, but that’s splitting hairs.
All the radio stations in NYC agreed to play this at the same time.
You could turn the dial and not miss a beat.

Band Aid also raised money for relief in Africa. They actually did it first.
Band Aid was composed of primarily Artists from England and Ireland.
Also, here in USA, Artists did a benefit for American Farmers and it was titled 'Farm Aid'.
I love this so much. A beautiful young couple on a musical journey of exploration. It's so cool to see you recognize artists from reactions you've done. Cheers to you guys. Love the channel keep up the great work :)
how can it not sound good when the best musicians in the last few decades are singing together? stevie and the boss sounded really good together.... better than i remembered.
I like how yall smile when MJ and Bruce came on
I hope you two never change a thing. You both are so genuine and your love for music shines through in this reaction. It was so cool seeing you starstruck now the same as I was back when this song was released. Great reaction!!
They actually remade this song in 2010 when Haiti had the earth quake. It has Justin Bieber, Janet Jackson, Jennifer Hudson, Toni Braxton, Usher, Wyclef and a whole bunch of other artists
along with lil wayne nipsey busta snoop and other rappers added to it
I loved these songs they came out with to raise money for charity. The UK one, Feed The World, and the Canadian one, Tears Are Not Enough are both excellent too.
I truly love this song.Had the 45 single record in 6th grade.
I was a year out of high school when this came out. It's awesome that you guys know these artist. Love ya'll reaction.
And is proof of our diversity and inclusion before the ish. Where you at America. We are truly blessed to be a part of this great country. Wake up America don't fall for the ish. U.S.A., U.S.A.,U.S.A!!!!!!!!!
Hey guys...this is the most famous...and expensive choirs you'll ever hear in your life🤔and a thing of beauty 🤗😆🎶
Great song! So many awesome artist that are I know by the younger generation! No auto tune either! Just awesome voices, straight up!
I’m impressed by your knowledge and appreciation of many of these artist! Great reaction! 💕
a newer version came out I think around 2011 when the earthquakes hit Haiti. I don't think it's as good as this one but you should definitely check it out
So many genres of music,so many age groups, it was a great undertaking and was for a great cause.
Nothing but legends. So many lost to time.
Thank you so much!
The Huey Lewis to Cindy Lauper segment is fire.
I remember when this came out. It was HUGE. I still have my cassette.
I just woke up to this, and couldn't have asked for a better song to start my day...Thank you guys, you two are the G.O.A.T."s
The duet Springsteen and Stevie Wonder was the most amazing part for me, love It!
and each one had a great voice of their own, amazing group of talent!
This song makes me cry every time I listen to it because of the talent that was put together to help Africa
I remember this well, what a glorious song all about hope and caring. Wish we had more of those things now . Great reaction guys
I’m impressed that you knew most of the artists. Shows you have a great and diverse channel.
Something like this will never happen again! I’m so glad I grew up when something like this came out !
Thriller was MJs vision and he was the mastermind, not quincy Jones.
It was also MJ who wrote we are the world along with Lionel richie
The best of the best 👍🏼
I was in 7th grade when this song came out, I remember watching the video on MTV ( when they had top 10s). The song and artists on the song are priceless and timeless. We are the world song was created for the USA for Africa and all the proceeds when to feeding and and any other needs they had in Africa at that time. Back in those days there wasn’t a lot of help going over to Africa. This song changed their world forever and created more attention that really hadn’t been there before. Loved seeing your reaction to this song…
