I am going to Second this sentiment. Even if you're doing a gimmick draft, the value I get out of your videos is listening to your thought process during the draft and games and seeing where you-an obviously better player than I am-veer from my decision making and learning why you choose each route. You would still play a joke deck smarter than I would, so it's still valuable insight.
The drafts definitely feel more chaotic at this point. I had a draft this morning where i took a p1p3 enduring curiosity and then blue just straight up vanished for the remainder of that pack and most of pack 3. Signals feel all over the place for sure. Great video Paul!
If it triggered itself, it would be soooo much better, but as is, it's pretty weak the turn you play it and it's super vulnerable to 100% of all exile/tuck/bounce that costs less than it. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad, but it really needs Midnight Mayhem to be exceptional
It simply needed haste. 2RR do nothing if oppo has a response like dragonfire, unable to scream or trapped in the screen (to name only commons) is not that good.
The video is not about if u win or lose. The best part is going through draft picks and your thought process so don’t worry so much about winning when it comes to us just wanted to put that out there we appreciate the content
Hey Paul, any video with you in it is good. I really enjoy your banter and overall attitude. You are a good dude. Smart as heck, and you give the opponents props for their good plays and deck building. I watch all of your videos regardless if it a 7-0 or 0-3. Don't sweat it. Hopefully, the Dodgers can make it to the series and take down the Yankees. Cheers, my friend!
I watch to learn. I appreciate seeing "losing" drafts. I hope to learn from your analysis of what you could have done differently to end up in the spot, because as an amateur drafter, I'm in that spot more often than I'm in 7 -2 spots!
Honestly, Altanak is an absolutely bonkers top end by itself without a Say Its Name. If you land one and don't have it removed, it wins. If you have a Flesh burrower, it most likely wins the next turn. If you draw one too early and/or too many, just recycle it for a land. Have reanimation you're itching to use? It has discard enabling stapled on by default. I'd go as far as to say that it's the most reliable (though not the most powerful) top end of a deck in the format, bar none and the only one you really don't have an issue running multiples of. Edit: Aww, you should've ran two.
I don't play MTGo, but I watch a bunch of draft video's on a daily basis (I work night shifts, don't judge me) and I'm noticing large discrepancies between the contents of the packs. Maybe it's always been this way, (I've only started watching drafts since MKM), but having packs with three rares for instance and then ones filled with only mid tier uncommons and commons of which sometimes even two of the same in one pack (which I believe they started doing with MKM) just seems off to me. And like a comment said below sometimes a color just seems nonexistent in a draft or like in this video where everybody and their mother had an Altanac. Another example is the booster boxes my friend and I bought. We each bought one. In total I pulled 3 of those verge lands, 1 Silent Hall creeper, 1 Abhorrent Oculus and the green, white and red overlords. That was basically it for the higher end cards, the rest was bulk. My friend on the other hand pulled 8(!) verge lands and had all the chase cards from this set imaginable. I mean obviously I get that not every booster or box is the same, but the differences feel much larger to me than they used to. It makes me think WOTC tweaked the distribution of cards to make it more "gambly" with extreme pay offs and extreme duds. Maybe I'm biased because of my bad box opening, but do people who actually draft online have the same experience?
I think manifest dread is a completely constructed focused mechanic, I hate any kind of mill/manifest mechanic in limited where your outs are often one ofs and the gy recursion mostly starts from uncommon and hard to see/grab. Scorching dragonfire is a clear solution to unstoppable slasher but you had to manifest/mill it. Ofc things were going south way before than that but seeing that "damn he had to mill that" moment is really annoying.
I used to have this mind set, the top of the deck is unknown information while it feels bad in general self mill and manifesting is a net gain. I do agree with the bad feels when you mill/manifest your one of answer for the position you are in.
Going 7-0 isn't what makes your videos worthwhile. All your videos are good, Paul!
That's wonderful to hear after the result from this video!

So happy to witness this journey - especially after some the struggles in some of these drafts. Very impressive and couldn't be happier for you, Paul.

50:42 altanak, altanak, altanak!
Man I’m soooooooo better at drafting since I watch your videos, you’re the best, thank you!!
No problem!!
how many altanacs were going around lmao good lord
5 that he saw.
because arena is only balanced to make you spend money
Sometimes the great videos are the Altanaks we alternately cast along the way
Takes a giga chad to summon an Altanak from the deepest recesses of darkness. Takes a soy boy to cast murder on it same turn at instant speed.
I checked, scourching and the hordecaller have better winrate than the courage, thats insane.

"They can't have anything for one green". Wow I can't believe you would forget about noxious revival.
great video as always living the altanak dream but just imagine enduring courage into midnight mayhem...
Yeah I guess that would also be good haha
The other day I played against turn 4 enduring courage turn 5 midnight mayhem, turn 6 midnight mayhem 🥲
Needless to say I lost lol

3 Altanak is optimal because how else will you be able to say its name 3 times?

I appreciate that!

Just the creature by itself is kinda crazy too
Always down for the jank! I'm less of a Timmy and more of a Tin Cup player. Jank in the face of common sense every time
That went about as well as can be expected, but when you did the thing it was actually really cool :D
Hah I'm glad it was at least fun to watch!
An offering for the almighty algorithm.
Not using the beat down there when we know we are playing alty the next turn is absolutely wild
It’s really not hard to give constructive criticism in a way that doesn’t make you sound really mean.
Tyvar exists so elfball commander players can have a more flavorful finisher than craterhoof.
Let's go Alt!!!!!
I think not to take the 2 Hedge Shreddar was debatabale.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice…?

I'm not playing two 7 drops in just about any deck.
WTF were these packs. That was at least 5 Altanaks in one draft
Ships two altanaks then takes all the say its names 😂
Everytime you mention your dislike of boros I smile.
