Been watching your videos for a couple months now and just got my first trophy yesterday with white/red and I splashed blue. I had double midnight mayhem and saw how well you did with it. I owe it all to you Paul:)
What a deck! This is what I really love about draft. Before, white is overdrafted and I can’t make RW/UW work, while I’m getting 6th picks centipedes and disturbing mirths. The tables have turned, and I might start 1st picking those white cards again.
@@haumph If you were in OP's shoes, what are your thoughts on blocking differently to give away less info. It was a peculiar block. Is there a block they could have made where you wouldn't have played around a wrath?
@haumph What was the thought process of tapping down the 6/5 instead of using the scream? I was thinking it’d be better with all the 5/5s you had, then the Waltz was unfortunate.
@@seant2432 great question. Decent chance I just play another creature there. Possibly even use uas on the sticktwister. I think that was a really bad block that gave away too much information as long as your opponent has any brain cells

I think if you were able to pick up a Ghostly Dancers the deck could've been sliiiiiightly better. Probably would've went 8 - 0 if you did, but I guess 7 - 0 is fine too.
i always save my really good draft decks and play them when i can! I've made some really good decks on the fly in sets or just drafting cubes and stuff
That was quite a sight - just a steamroller of a deck - still needed the skillful reads and good play, couple of really sturdy opponents. Almost there for #1!
I had one of those in BFZ. 3 Roil Spout, 2 Stasis Snare, 2 Hedron Archive, 2 Halimar Tidecaller, Planar Outburst, Emeria Shepherd, Coastal Discovery, 4 Gideons Reproach. Not a single close game. Was playing around things like Ulamog+removal for stasis snare just in case.
Watching him draft the deck reminded me how awful play boosters are. They might be the worst thing to happen to limited. Don't get me wrong, some of the folks in that draft had poor card evaluation, but I still feel like decks like what Paul had shouldn't be able to exist. However, with all that said, I love the content, and I'm glad you got another clean sweep.
My last esper deck was the most broken thing I’ve played so far. 7-0 splashing the white was cool. Very light splash white, with at least 2 “fear of infinities” is really strong in the enchantment deck.
Man I've never been able to trophy with UW. I've even had decks with 2 Optimistic Scavenger, 2 Gremlin Tamer, 2 Inquisitive Glimmer, White Overseer, and the best I could ever get to is 5 wins. I'm starting to realize that the only deck I can trophy with in this set is RW.

Pack 1 Pick 10, I think I'd much prefer the G/U land in case you open a Valgavoth's Onslaught in Pack 2 or 3. Esp since you you slammed the cheerleader directly into the SB. Edit: Fricking Called it! Second edit: Seriously, I made that comment right after I watched you make the pick, not after I saw you open the VO in pack 2
I don’t draft cards thinking I’m going to open a crazy rare in a later pack when there is a totally fine curve filler card that could make my deck although I won’t be happy about it if it does
@@haumph True, you didn't know you were going get and subsequently bench the whole dang squad of cheerleaders by the end, but I personally still make that pick because of possible Zimone, Bookworm, or Flytrap pick ups as well as VO. I've just found cheerleader to be so replaceable. I'd probably have taken any W or U dual that might help with a potential splash there.
I agree. The odds of wanting cheerleader is really low. And although the odds of opening a green rare you'd want to splash ar also low, the pay-off is way higher.
Double floodpits drowner was an interesting conundrum. You know the person on the left will pick up the second one and then gobble up all the blue from pack 2.
Yeah it's still a great card overall but since this deck isn't quite as aggressive I need to basically cast it as a late game win condition once my opponents have exhausted their removal.
Even thinking about taking a gremlin tamer over valgavoth's onslaught? You've gone off the "disciplined consistent good deck making" deep end Paul. Edit: Your opponents actually put up a good fight, but the flood of quality cards squashed them in the end.

The game where you sniffed out the wrath is probably the best game of Duskmourn I've seen, and a testament to why this is such a great format.

I don't really care too much for that. Yeah it's unfortunate but it's far more important to read the signals from the right.
I think sheltered by ghosts is also a bomb level card, but this isn't really the deck for it. Having 5 bombs is absurd tho.
