Do you have a guide or who did you talk to to get Darthmod to even work? Cause your video made me want to try and conquer Japan as the Hattori again, with the trinity mod enabled.
Yes thank you Obama, without you neglecting the American middle class if favor of Hollywood and the tech Elites we never would have Trump. So thank you!!
Lionheart you know us so well at this point. Of course we would ask you to go for the most extreme option and go against the Shogunate and the Emperor. On another note just like in the Sun Jian and Sima Yong let's plays I can put down the bio's for some of the more influential people in the era if anyone wants me to do that for this let's play. If I do I don't really know this era that well so it would probably be a learning experience for me as well.
Hey, super happy about this new campaign, this weekend I've played a Very Hard campaign a two legendary ones, and here are some tips: -Considering the large garrisons, the Geisha's ability to "Distract Garrison" make it easy to take settlements and to tip the balance in your favor. -Coal would be a great resource to have to make recruiting ships cheaper, but you can only find it at the extreme north and south, because of this I found that having a foreign veteran in the province you're recruiting ship make it's costs much more friendly, up to one third of the original price if i'm not mistaken, for high level veteran, it also helps with the costs of recruiting land units. -Auto resolving naval battles incur in great damage to your ships, usualy to the biggest ship in the fleet, so unless you have a great adventage I recommend manualy resolving naval battles. -If you do go for the republic, you won't have acces to the shishengumi or ishin-ishin, so the main disadvantage as I experienced, is that you'll have lesse agents to help out, so I recomend trying to level up ninjas, Geishas and Veterans beforehand, this way you'll be able to deal with the enemy agents when they declare war on you. -This last one is more about the playstyle I found suited me best, is to expand untill before the fame completes the fame "meter" in the clan managment section, and then halt the expansion while you prepare your economy and agents before the realm divide, this might prove usefull if you do decide to go fot the republic. -Also, if you have artillery supperiority the AI will almost always go towards you in the battle map, turning all battles into defensive battles, in all my battles there's been only one case in which it didn't happen. Anyway, love the game, and been following your channel for a few years now, keep up the good work!!! PS:English is not my main language, so don't pay mind to the many mistakes above ^^
Here's a tip: don't neglect your navy. In fact, try and get decent ships as soon as possible. Rebel and enemy fleets will block your trade and screw up your ports.
FotS is my favorite shogun 2 campaign so thanks for starting another playthrough I love your older videos. Tips: I always keep my generals out of the cities to avoid getting the "eye for the ladies" trait. (I keep ninja and foriegn agents out of the city as well for the same reason) Hope it helps
Lionheart don't forget your shogitai have banzai really early on in fall of the samurai. It's great for rear charges and making up distance thanks to the charge bonus. Much love for the series and the channel!
Lately I've come across youtubers doing awfully thought out battles, it's refreshing to see someone organize with method and foresight thank you for this. Also this has given me the chance to see that Darthmod leans heavily toward realism and I love that, I will be installing it. Cheers.
So glad to see another Shogun 2 playthrough! A little sad that i won't get to see a traditional army for quite a while but I'll wait. Loving it so far and be sure to stay on your toes. Oh, and you should check out MrAlehkra down in the comments. He explains pronunciations really well!
Finaly our cries have been heard!!! Don't get me wrong. I love all the total war titles but this on is my favorite over all the other titles. Thanks bunches Lionheart!!
remove the baracks in echizen, build it in kaga, they get accuracy buff to from the blacksmith, look at the farms, fertile and very fertile is good, and echizen and kaga both have that, and build up the clay pit in echizen, the 3rd building reduces building costs in all of your provinces by 5%, also build your american/british/french port in kaga, so you get the 3 infantry units with better accuracy, and thanks, I was waiting for a good shogun 2 fall of the samurai play trough :) (oh and yes, omi can become the richest province in the game, it has a silver mine AND very fertile soil)
Also, basic Japanese pronunciation is relatively easy and regular fortunately . All Japanese can be broken down into easy syllables which, with only a couple exceptions, are always pronounced the same. The core of those syllables are vowels; O as in bowl, A as in father, E as in effort, I sounds closer to ee (as in eek), U as in blue. The only thing that will make them sound different, is that U is silent after an S (and sort of between consonants, but that's a bit fuzzier). Double vowels don't actually change the sound, they just literally become twice as long, you hold out the vowel for an extra beat (if you ever see that little dash or the carrot above a vowel in Japanese that's what it indicates). Consonants sound more or less how you'd except as an English speaker for the most part, the obvious exceptions being R (think pretty close to like the trilled single R in Spanish, and that's good enough), and Z is...weird, kind of like a D and a Z together, but honestly just using the English pronunciation for Z isn't off enough that non-Japanese speakers would notice. N/M is the only consonant that can be a syllable by itself, otherwise all syllables are either a consonant + vowel combination (in that order, a syllable is never vowel + consonant, always consonant + vowel) or just a vowel. This isn't exact and there are some more advanced or subtle things you could get into, but it'll work as a basic guide to standard Japanese pronunciation. So for examples we have your capital Wa-Ka-Sa, the A being pronounced the same every time. Then you moved into E-Chi-Ze-N (the E and N there being their own syllables, and should theoretically be held out just as long as Chi and Ze). That seems like a lot at first, but basically as long as you can pronounce the five vowels, you can pronounce (almost) anything.
If you can ever enter a battle with reinforcements from another faction, save your bombarding till they get to the walls to engage, you will crush their force as well as the enemies as the enemies won't withdraw once engaged with a force. And if you can do enough damage to your reinforcements you can push forward to their town/city as their forces will be weak
you can recruit from your army when moving, the troops will auto move to the general when on your army the tab next to it. you dont have to recruit at the cities, unless you want them for additional garrisons
Lookig forward for this gameplay! Just a tip: dont shy from attacking clans of same allegiance, since they, even the big clans, can randomly change it during game (you yourself can do it via clan screen) and stab you in the back. Im not sure if even your allies can change it tho, didnt happen to be backstabbed by allies. Also i dont think that attacking domain of same allegiance gives any penalties. After realm divide all clans will remain upon their allegiance and clans of same allegiance will have very positive relations with you and will themselves offer alliance to you. Upon RD you can choose only to be loyal to shogun (or emperor when you have pro emperor allegiance) or to declare republic. Even tho everyone will hate you and fight you, imperials and pro-shogunates will still fight amongst each other. Also when you reach something like 75 % of that fame bar in clan screen, you cant change your allegiance anymore. And you can change allegiance of other clans by vassalasing them, not sure if that works when you are Independent (aka republican) tho.
Nice battle plan. I like the way you encircle the enemy units with your shooters. Wooden cannons are trash, don't recruit them. Also, you need a balance between your ranged units and your melee units, until you unlock your uber tier units, which are really deadly.
Do the republic, I've never seen it actually done. I think if you make that your end game early enough though, plant some strong seeds of friendship, you should do a good job. :3
From what I know of the game, there is a "reliability" system but it is your Damyio's Honor that it gets called. I also find a good mix of some Shogitai with the Banzai ability on flanks with Yari cav can do some major damage when you add in the line inf for a melee/range mix.
Honestly, upgrading the fortress is pretty useless. The main reason is, you don't really get much more garrison. On top of that, the size of your castle gets to big to cover with the garrison you have, which means that you won't get to cover all sides. The only viable means to upgrade the castle is either to suppress order when uprising continues to rise or manually recruit troops and place them inside the castle, so you're able to cover more areas to defend, when you're under siege. (JUST TO POINT OUT, GARRISON TROOPS ARE COMPLETE SHIET)
except that in the central tier of forts, all of your units fight to the death, so if you kite hard enough while retreating to the top tier, even with just the garrison levies, you can route much larger armies. Especially if the enemy general is dumb enough to dismount and run at your rifles.
Breaking treaties and things like that (also looting cities) reduces your Daimyo's honor. Lower honor translates to penalties to diplo relations, public order, and non Daimyo general loyalty.
Navy is absurdly powerful due to the geography of the game. Once you have sufficient economy and research, you unlock ships which completely outclass your neighbours. You can even do bombardment for land battles within range. Combine this with the power of the railroad, you are extremely hard to stop. Get the first Ironclad and you have won the game.
49:09 in situations like this its best to pull your melee units out to opposing flanks giving the enemy two chooses 1 give chase to said melee units exposing their flank to rifles or 2 charge rifles that said melee units exposed but either option is the wrong option so win win but yeah by retreating into your own lines is just asking for friendly fire .
If you atk an ally or someone you just made a pease treaty will damage your relations with other factions, but atking someone with a trade agreement shouldn't effect your deplo... As far as I have seen, fall of the samurai is my fav game ever
Playing as Satsuma on my new computer on very hard. Got my capital to recruit units with gold weapons and armour upgrades, pretty much my military center. Doom stacks early in the game, unstoppable armies, iron clad navies, and a very powerful economy all by late 1868.....but DAMN OBAMA loooooves there single ship navies and raiding the anus of my trade lanes. But not matter, ill soon have fleets blocking any path to my side of Japan
You must remain loyal to the shogunate through the whole campaign! Do not let personal power sway you you must protect the emperors judgement and Japan!
Lionheartx10 in all the times I have played I don’t waist time or money on wooden cannons b/c they aren’t moveable in battle and horribly inaccurate. I would spend money on line-infantry until better cannon available. Also you do get a penalty for canceling treaties early if I remember correctly.
If I remember correctly, the character skills are much more focused in this TW-game. Consider using Geishas to boost income by putting them into the high income provincial capitals and develop their skills accordingly.
Because i thought that shishiishin/shinsengumi =metsuke and fots geisha = s2 geisha, means that geisha are useless. Now i feel stupid for not reading the skills first and agent was changed for fots.
Just as a reminder Lionheart remembering your Tsu series looting is a horrible idea in Shogun 2 it decreases your Damiyo's honour which negatively effects your Public Order and the loyalty of your Generals it doubles as your Reliability Rating so keep your honour high. Also I think modernization is an issue if you don't balance the new and the old ways I could be wrong though it's been ages since I've played Fall of the Samurai. Also Obama is the name of the region the name of your Damiyo's Family Name is Sakai and they have long served the Shogunate since the Sengoku Era before Ieyasu Tokugawa was even named Shogun.
Ah this time period of Japan where the Samurai try and get power again but are eventually and bloodily destroyed in various rebellions across Japan. It’s a shame, we never see this lifestyle of samurai till World War 2 and now its kinda a novelty to Japan, known only in books, films, games, and small re-enactments. To quote Sabaton a bit but not use their song Shiroyama too much: “It’s the nature of time that the old ways must give in, its the nature of time that the new ways come in sin”
Geography-wise, going for the republican route would be suicide unless you're really strong before the realm divide. It's best to go for the republican route if your starting domain is located at the edge of the map like Saitama for example so you won't have to worry being stabbed in the back
Just for the record, 'Derringer' is pronounced dere (like there but with a d instead of th)-Rin-ger (like ginger). Kinda funny that they were using a Colt in the picture though. And the chloroform bottle helps with recovery because it's a *lot* less traumatic getting battlefield surgery with anesthetic than without it. In the American Civil War (aka the Civil War because we've only had the one), many guys got amputations on a few swigs of whiskey (it'd be sake in Japan). People's hearts give out under that kind of stress.
Just wanted to help you out with the pronunciation of the Philadelphia Derringer. (Dare - ren - ger) Ger pronounced like the GER in Germany. Enjoy your content lionheartx10 thank you for putting videos of TW games out.
Don't bother with the wooden cannons, they're really useless as they can't move on the battlefield... Wait until you get the Armstrong guns, these things are so OP you'll love it;)
You know if you set it to 1280 x 720, you can have max graphics. It barely ruins the aspects of game play. I've been playing Shogun II for years and love it! Great campaign!
I'm running the game fine on max graphics at @ 1440p. I just drop shadows to medium because there's very little change graphically but there's a rather substantial FPS loss. 720p would look awful on my large 1440p monitors.
@@lionheartx10 1440p is not 16:9. Find same ratio to 1440p. You are using large monitors so pixels appear larger on larger screen (my screen is 28" ish), so you need 2x AA to reduce that with 16x TF for better revolving and curvature. Enjoy your game.
@@silentbutterfly5036 1440p is 16:9 aspect ratio so not sure entirely what you're on about. I'm running the game fine on ultra at 1440p no need to run it on 720 at all :)
I know this is a tad late, but I feel as though I have to say this. There is one strategy in FoTS: get a lot of cannons, the line infantry is less important Edit: not wooden cannons though; they are complete garbage. Don’t even bother getting them. I would honestly rather have just an extra infantry unit because they’ll slow your army down then never hit anything in a battle.

Because i thought that shishiishin/shinsengumi =metsuke and fots geisha = s2 geisha, means that geisha are useless.
Now i feel stupid for not reading the skills first and agent was changed for fots.
Create new republic? Yes, we can!!
Still the best game in the TW series due to this day.
Finally, I can finally learn how to play this game.
Dropping Obama jokes like predators
I remember in history class learning that Obama helped Saudi Arabia destroy Yemen... Lol
THANKS OBAMA
Don't forget to keep your armies moving otherwise your generals get an eye for the ladies and slow down
It's so annoying that the ai seems to just completely commit their generals into fights they have no buessness being in, in the first place.
yeah im so exited
Just wanted to help you out with the pronunciation of the Philadelphia Derringer. (Dare - ren - ger) Ger pronounced like the GER in Germany. Enjoy your content lionheartx10 thank you for putting videos of TW games out.
What a Fantastic video, really makes me want to load up Shogun 2 again haha
Always sacrifice those who help you win the battle xD
Don't bother with the wooden cannons, they're really useless as they can't move on the battlefield... Wait until you get the Armstrong guns, these things are so OP you'll love it;)
I can't help laughing everytime Obama is said
Now that you're revisiting some older games, would you consider doing a Austria or France campaign in Napoleon?!
maybe at some point!
There is one strategy in FoTS: get a lot of cannons, the line infantry is less important
Edit: not wooden cannons though; they are complete garbage. Don’t even bother getting them. I would honestly rather have just an extra infantry unit because they’ll slow your army down then never hit anything in a battle.
can we stop the fall of the samurai, yes we can
Finally! I was really looking forward for this.
Ohh look it's president Obama (lionheart we expect all the jokes just so you are aware)
Instill Discipline actually increases melee defense if I remember correctly.
Obama Clan Yes We Can! (throwback to 2012)
Please, no! 8 years were enough. But, if he had a son, he would look like Sakai Tadakatsu.
