    You just saved me $700 dollars. My dryer stopped working after a power outage. Before I saw this, I tried a few different things and accidently broke the tip of the door switch. I tried to glue it back on, it broke off again. Watched your video thinking it was a fuse but went and taped the door switch down, plugged my dryer back in and it turned on! Not sure why it wasn't turning on before I broke the door switch but it works now. Just ordered the replacement part. Thank you, I was dreading buying a new dryer since this one has been so good to us..

    Also, for anyone watching, that black back panel he removed around 2:00 is really sharp on the edges. I cut my finger really bad on accident when handling it.

    I, of course, took the difficult route and began by testing all the components in the back with a multimeter before finding this video. The user remembered the front door safety switch was acting strangely (allowing the dryer to operate with the door open) for a while before the machine stopped working altogether, so I focused my attention on that switch (the one about :20 into your video), replaced it for under $8 and the dryer resumed working immediately. I cannot thank you enough and you're spot on that you need to start with the easiest problems first! Your information saved the user an unnecessarily expensive service call that quite frankly, she couldn't afford, so I greatly appreciate your helping me help her - I hope the positive karma returns to you tenfold. All the best!

      I want to thank you personally because my dryer worked for 2 years with the door switch broken and then just stopped working and it was this exact comment that led me to first try replacing it and it fixed the dryer immediately. So between you and original poster, I saved myself so much money and headache fixing my dryer. Thank you again!

    You're such a lifesaver man! When my family's dryer stopped working, we were worried we'd have to pay a repair person over $100 to get it fixed. Instead, I got a multimeter and fuse for under $20 dollars on Amazon and followed your instructions to putting in together. $120+, back in our pocket.

    Just looking at the lint on the back of the dryer, your vent is clogged which will cause the fuse to blow and make the dryer take much longer to dry. There is also a fuse on some heater boxes that will do the same thing. Clean your vent and it should have no kinks and should run no more than 8 feet to the outside.

    I checked the switch on the door and I'll be damned it was broken. I didn't even know that was there, so easy fix for me was to cut a thick piece of straw like the ones from circle k and it fits right over it. the little black switch was broken in half and the door wouldn't make contact. Awesome video thanks for posting it I thought I'd have to buy a new dryer!

    How did you disconnnect the fuze?

  • @DayClanTribe
    @DayClanTribe 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    To double check that that's the culprit I jump across the terminals with a short alligator jumper wire same or larger gauge and run the dryer for a second. Can do that with all the thermal cutouts. But don't ever bypass them permanently! You need to find why they're blowing and fix the real problem. Lint in the ducts usually.

    @southernguy35 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    You test the contenuity and get a reading of current going through it and at 3:18 you say "then you know it's..." and you edited out the word "good" or "bad." That's a pretty important word to omit. I'm assuming you edited out the word "good" for some reason.
    Why couldn't you just disconnect the wires first and test it? If it's good you save time of taking it out and putting it back in. But you stop short of a few important aspects. The thermal switch may be bad as well as other parts like the element. Important to know if you're ordering parts or going to the appliance parts store.

    I will try this thanks, but question, if this part malfunctions will it cause the appliance to buzz and not start?
