- LG V50 ThinQ Review! One of the most powerful phones of the year. One of the best multi-media experiences available. One of the best options for mobile content creation. All that and a 5G radio, for the same price as an iPhone 11 Pro with half the storage and an Intel LTE radio.
So why aren't more people talking about this phone?

Finally...Someone speaks up for LG. Been using them for years. Most underrated phones made.
Underrated and super cheap once out for a few months
been using them since the g2 haha
I went to LG with the V30. Loved it. I got the note ten and regret it.
The one thing i hate about LG is that i never got my phones to work properly with instagram/snapchat filters. It seems like nothing but i get so angry when i have a hightech phone and I can't use any snapchat face filters because it lags and freezes. That's why I left LG
LG, Sony and Motorola are all criminally underrated.
@@DenGuleBalje are Sony really underrated? Or more like undermarketed? Either way, I agree with you, those 3 should be more highly respected and do better in sales
LG should hire you to become their marketing manager
Really should lol
right? He also has deep product knowledge.
Pretty sure he got paid for this you can almost hear LG drop a huge load in his mouth
And Sprint
@@HeavyLikeChevy not Juana style - he never receives sponsorship - has a Patron channel .
The V50 is so good! Perfect phone for any audio enthusiast or content creator.
SO damn good.
Thing about that is that most people are just consumers
But those of use that are, we are enjoying tech like the phone LG is making
@@gamester1416 That's the bummer. Folks who might be curious about better tools (especially with Apple trumping up "pro" phones) aren't being shown options that might be better. My daughter is turning 4 and she's already directing and editing videos to send to my Mom.
Has LG continued to use that 10-bit camera image sensor they started using on the V30?
I just bought the Amazon prime exclusive LG V35 and was wondering if the main sensor on it has the same 10 bit sensor that they had also on the V30.
And I'm wondering also about the V40 and V50 here.
@@jrod8574 I have the V40. The IMX363 sensor is capable of 10 bit and really does a HDR10 video recording (so the V30 just records a 8bit video file). If you are looking for grading, stay at V30, LG has removed the WONDERFUL feature called Cine-log (that yes, with the right monitor and PC program, you can grade the video to a real 10bit BT.2020 colour one) 😉
This video will convince more people to buy LG then their own advertisment.
Or how about consumers use common sense ?
@@TheAgentAssassin usually just minotity use common sense, usually majority follow what others say without filtering information. Lg is not for everyone, Lg is for those who want to try new and do not afraid of compromises in order to get smt others does not have
So trueeeee, lg just dont know how to market their features
Mike Jaques I think the problem also relies on their design, both hardware and software, and their lack of useful innovation. Under the screen optic fingerprint sensors are really fast and reliable, so there was no point to having a standard one. Also, people don’t care about hand gestures, not even the better implemented ones on the Pixel 4 are worth mentioning, so worsening the front design for them is a total loss when it comes to wooing costumers. Many people bought the S10s because of their wow factor, the only thing LG has to do to have an amazing looking phone is to get rid of the back fingerprint scanner, implement a teardrop notch, and reduce the bezels to almost nonexistent. It shouldn’t be hard to do with LGs size and experience with screens.
@@neitherlink6612 and one of the reasons I love LG is because they deliberately don't do all that stuff😂😂😂
I just got one today after 10 years of iphone usage and Im so glad i made the switch. This phone is beautiful.
Glad you left apple too. Figure out how to download .flac versions of your music (fully lossless audio codec) legit sound quality. I have a V30. High powered audio system I can hear every tiny thing. Haven't bothered to try blue tooth on it. Sound quality of 2v is a joke for each channel. My new deck has 6v running to my 6 speakers. Blue tooth for any sound competition bye you lose. Go take your kids to McDonald s in your Subaru
Juan... Forever with hands down the best tech reviews on TH-cam... Exactly why I'm a Patreon supporter.
I appreciate the support!
It's a shame that TH-cam won't likely promote Juan's content in any meaningful way, except for the times when the TH-cam algorithm for the home feed in my case gets smart and actually recommends me more of his older stuff to watch.
At least Patreon updates me on his posts there properly
@@GabrielIgnacio because he actually reviews products instead of making a cinematic montage while stating specs over stock techno beats.
@@rhaibi12 The sad thing is that's pretty much true of almost all the tech TH-camrs I watch nowadays. Just the same B-Roll with EDM, spec sheet circlejerks, and camera tests that don't tell the whole story.
If anything, this might sound weird but maybe Juan's channel being more small scale is a good thing. Means that the people who actually watch are actual fans instead of just the thousands of thousands of people whose comments range from "heyoo thank for vid this come from X country" or "plz gimme that fone for free" and so on. Basically more actual engagement
@@GabrielIgnacio lmao... The comments are way too fucking accurate.
as a LG user from the time when LG was stuck at 3000mAh for several generations back to back, its nice seeing that 4000mAh
100%.
They were getting respectable run time out of smaller batteries, but it's nice having real capacity to play with.
@@SomeGadgetGuy no they wasn't. I have G6 and it's battery life never was good after upgrading to Oreo it have
got even worse. And LG have problems when it comes to upgrade software.
Would have been better if they keep the removable battery feature. Ill keep using my lg v20 for the removable battery.
Lg manufactures there own batteries with good set of cell s , they really last longer ,
The only TH-camr not hating on LG another year!
Thanks Juan!
A few folks out there, but all these LG videos getting WRECKED on TH-cam...
WTF! This is literally what I've been wanting! I have a V30 and this literally checks every box for me. I've never even heard of this thing.
Wait until you see the UX...
get a V40 for 400, much better than V30. V50 is not ready for USA yet.
Same! And almost impossible to find.
@@MacReviewzOnline how is that. V50 is almost same price. Why spend all that money and downgrade?
*I really love LG it's soooo underrated. My TV and Sound system is LG 💜*
LG makes the best TVs, especially the OLED ones
@@DenGuleBalje The only problems I have with their TVs are the crappy web browsing experience and the lack of a proper store(it has a store but lacks many app options. In terms of just using it like a TV though they're great
Watching this on my LG V35 ThinQ and wow the LG V50 ThinQ sounds amazing. I just can't stand the notch. I mean, you DO get "used to it" but it's not something we should get used to. LG Quad DACs is why I stay with LG phones.
I don't. I'll NEVER dismiss someone complaining about the notch. I think it's crap when people try to shrug off notches and hole punches. "You get used to the most important interaction on a phone being disrupted for a lame webcam." BS.
I love LG hardware and capability DESPITE the notch, but I still "SEE" it every time I use the phone.
@@SomeGadgetGuy It's like staring into a very attractive date only to constantly be distracted by her glaring giant pimple on her forehead. You try to dismiss it and talk normally but it's infected bump sticking out like a third eye is still there and very unpleasant to look at. I think that's a fair comparison to LG phones with notches. 😆🤣
HA! Brutal, but accurate, and iPhones are basically unibrows...
Exactly how I feel.
I just bought my first LG phone EVER but I went with the Amazon prime exclusive *alexa hands free* unlocked version on Amazon and I love it so far. But I got that one in particular cause its notch free.
Lg phones check out at a 99.8% satisfactory for me and would be 100% if it weren't for that stupid notch. Sighs...
I can't unsee it.
I miss the IR blaster
ME TOO!
Just use a remote?
Preach
@@bloopbloop2019 it's different bro. With the IR blaster it was like I was in Watch Dogs
@@bloopbloop2019 I use my phone as a remote to control my TVs, set top box and air-conditioning. It's very useful.
Watching on the LG G6. Love your review. I'm no audiophile, nor content creator, but this phone really shows that you can have it all: triple rear cameras, headphone jack, reliable fingerprint reader, expandable storage, nice flat display. I can count on one hand how many phones in 2019 have all of those features. While I doubt that this will be my next phone, I really do appreciate your take on this product. My experience with the G6 can be described as lackluster after the 1.5 year mark. I haven't received any software updates; the durability of the glass covering the camera lens gave out; battery life and overall performance diminished; and there was a period where the charging port was unusable due to false positive readings of water in the phone. This has, unfortunately, turned me away from LG.
I had similar experience i ended up selling mine G6 btw the biggest problem was bad battery life
I've got the v30 thinq. Besides 2 broken rear covers (why everyone uses glass is beyond me) it's been great. Replacement rear panels are $25 on eBay and easy to change.I'm not a picture fanatic or a video creator but it does well. My wife's pixel 3xl takes better shots but it's newer and I think most of its in the software.
Let's take a moment to thank LG V50 because........
It has a headphone jack
Last of the bunch. 😢
a real headphone jack, not some shitty china made that can't even run my monk
And if you aren't getting jipped inside the box should come headphones for the headphone jack
That jack/quad DAC is the dealmaker for me. I don't want anything Samsung or iPhone offers for that reason. I own V40 and V35. Both are awesome! Will a buy either V50 or V60 soon. No fear even tho LG has stopped making phones. Gotta get the last of the most perfect phones for me.
My favorite phone was V20 years ago. Loved the all metal design and removable battery
And the customizable notification bar
Still what I'm using. Loved the V10 and love the V20. Buying a V50 since they're at $325 now. Hate glass backs, rounded corners, notches, sealed-in batteries... But I fear soon enough beyond those LG will follow Apple/Samsung into curved glass edges, no headphone jack, dumbed-down controls for video/audio, lower-res screens, giant camera bumps. So the V50 may be the last phone I can stomach any company is going to make.
@American Freedom World Peace As one of the nearly 99% of people that use a phone case I don't get all the arguments a removable back. Tech reviewers will harp all plastic for things like "premium feel" and "fingerprint magnet" but doesn't matter for most of us at all since we all use cases so we don't break our phones.
Headphone 🎧 jack is the only reason i stay with LG phones and i love what they doing ui needs revamp
I LOVE LG hardware, but first thing I always do is change the theme and slap on Nova. I can't even last a day on LG's stock skin. I literally showed the app drawer and homescreen colliding and skipping in this review. LG needs some polish there.
I go with Microsoft launcher
MS launcher is REALLY good.
@@pp3k3jamail they already had Bluetooth earbuds so i don't think they will ditch headphone jack, it's what that make them different
@@pp3k3jamail As if people won't get wireless headphones just because there's a headphone jack on the phone.
this is the best phone review i've seen in a LONG while
We have fun.
Can always use more help sharing.
Couldn't agree more. You should be everyone's go to
It's the best phone until you see Asus ROG phone 2. I've switched from V40 Asus. Look it up:)
When you talk about the LG like that bro, urge me to buy the V40 or g8 😪 lolll. AWESOME video again
Buy the lg g8 its a great top of the line phone that you can get for less than $400 new now, i paid $800 for it and it was worth it.
Got a brand new G8 if you're on Sprint for a good price ?
@@tpacalypse Yeah check ebay
In Australia the G8 is going for the equivalent of US$680. That's still a bit much I think.
@@codpieceofjustice4595 I think thats about right
Amazing review, content and articulate delivery. I appreciate you so much!

People just don't realize how LG phones are good, I just Bought lg v30 and I love it more than when I was using Samsung and iPhone
I'm LG all the way scence I saw the LG g Flex and Flex 2 i fell in love. On my first pay check I went and bought my self the LG g4 than the v20 and so on. V 20 was a great Pioneer with a hi-fi quad dac, aluminum body, dual rear cams and an extremely useful secondary display next and ir blaster.
My dude! Back at it again! 💪🏾 I love the V series bro! I love LG!
V SERIES!
I plan on getting one as soon as it does the inevitable LG price drop. Love LG products but why pay full price.
I picked up a used v40 for my wife a few months after it launched and only cost me a touch over $300. She's perfectly happy with it and will probably continue using that phone for years.
Main reason why I bought the lg g7... Price was slashed in a couple of months or less
Rocking a LG G7 myself. Not enough change in the G8 to justify buying it so I'm still happy with my G7 until the V50 drops in price.
I think around like December there's gonna be some open box ones on eBay for 350$ 👌
Idk how to feel about this because I believe that LG should know that we love (loved) their phones but like you said why pay full price if you don't have to.
I can't wait for mine to come in!!!!!! I ran over my v30 and its been the best phone ive ever had. In fact I'm typing this comment with a v30 ...THAT I RAN OVER ON ACCIDENT!..... the back glass is still flawless an so is the frame. But the front glass is cracked and a new V30 costs the same as replacing the screen so V50 here I come. Even though I never wanted to retire the 30. Its been fantastic!
I watch this review more than 10 times in my LG V20 but now for the 11th time i'm holding and watching it again in my new LG V50. 🤗🤗
CONGRATS ON THE NEW PHONE!
I still keep the v20 as a backup..I ended up going for the v35 only because it's a 6" incher. It recently got the Android 10 update so I'm good for a while.
Same here.
One of my favorite reviews of this phone! Thank you for doing this.
Missing my V20 whenever I see new LG phones being released.
But this phone is 🔥 for me
Yeah. I'd kill for a V20 shell but with modern internals.
@@SomeGadgetGuyTrue.. though many dont like how that phone looked. But it's still a tank. Specially if u imagine if it has modern internals. I would definitely get one
It's hilarious to me when people fawn over the look of a phone which really can't survive daily use without a bumper case.
@@SomeGadgetGuy and that "It looks great. And feels good on the hand" statement. 😂
I'd actually kill for a refresh of the V10 with the same camera layout as the V50 and new specs. I loved how "prototype-y" the phone looked with that rubberized battery cover and dem stainless steel rails. It was really a G4 on steroids.
I love how clear your audio is 💕
I switched from Samsung to LG about 10 yrs ago and never turned back. Love LG.
Looking to upgrade my Q7+ and I think I'm going with this one.
Finally commenting on this video in my LG V50 ThinQ!!! I LOVE THIS BEAST OF A PHONE!!! 👍👍👍
The review I was waiting for. Juan! Should I upgrade my V30? My main concern is to know if the battery life holds up on the V50 like ot does on my V30? Also, is it a worthy upgrade?
Hopefully the video can answer those questions for you :-)
I'm not a content creator nor I need a lot of power = I'm staying with my V30.
My girlfriend is as me but the V40 now has a good price = I'm gonna buy that for her.
None of us two is a content creator or need a lot of power = no need for the V50.
Vice versa: are you a cc? You need shitload of power? You got shitloads of money? If only one of those is satisfied, go for the V50.
P.s. honestly for my gf I was thinkin about the Mate20pro (she likes huawei) but the lgs have that mil-std-810, and as she drops the phone at least once a day...
My LGV20 has a 9300 mAh battery :-)
My LG V20 has 10300 mAh, so...
That conclusion was Solid AF👍
👍
Unbiased, information-packed review as always! Your vids on LG V20 made me buy it. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for reviewing this device!
I got it last week second hand for $130 for the high quality audio, and my first time to own an LG phone/flagship device.
great deal. 4 times the price in uk
Watching this on my V30 . Wait for lg to drop the prices 😊
I dont think they will since this is a 5g phone not even apple has it
V40 and g8 prices dropped
@@Jason74357 no point they barely update their phones u better off getting the s10
Same, love my v30 not ready to give it up yet but when I am will want the hardware audio chip and headphone jack.
Is around 250-300$, crazy phone for the value
Thanks for this review, Juan. I have the V40. The V50 is a very refined addition to the V line. I plan to use my V40 until it breaks; and I still have my V20 as a backup phone, it's been working flawlessly since launch (aside from a simple screen repair when I dropped it onto concrete from at least 10 feet up on a ladder).
Remember when we could just pop open a phone and replace a few parts. Sigh...
Yeah, the V40 to V50 upgrade is rough. The V40 is SUCH a tank of a phone. I almost want to call the V50 a "V45 with 5G". LOL.
@@SomeGadgetGuy Yes. I wonder if someday, pro-consumer phones will make a comeback. I don't understand why metal phones like the V20 didn't take off; I prefer the way metal feels over glass, it's more durable, and it allows for a easier repair and more accessible screws. I don't care about how it doesn't work with wireless charging lol. I wouldn't want my laptop to be made of glass, you know? These are expensive gadgets...
And battery cases are a subpar alternative to user-replaceable batteries...
Truth. I'd love to see "Premium" materials come back too. Wood, leather, kevlar, carbon fiber. SO MANY other options than glass.
I'm never going to stop buying LG phones. They make the most durable phones on the market.
This is true. My G3 had 0 screen scratches even tho it fell multiple times although it's non-functional now because of the software failure. I used it for a long time too.
What I appreciate about your LG reviews is that you thoroughly explain why it is the best phone for your use case. I never walk away thinking "wow what an LG fanboy" because you explain exactly why it excels in many areas for a content creator. For my myself I don't prefer their skin and lack of software updates but I can certainly appreciate what they are trying to do. I think one thing we can agree on is that they need to step up in their marketing efforts to present their USP as you do for them lol.
I've been an LG man for a while, and you did this perfectly! I've owned the V10, Stylo 4, and V30 and the way you phrase everything is amazing! Great work!

Watching on my LM-V500N (Korean model).
As an average user wanting to learn more about the huge capabilities of this most underrated smartphone of 2019, couldn't agree more with you Sir Juan.
Bought during 9.9 sale for SGD 590 (USD 430) which is a real bargain (for me though). No need for dual screen as one is enough. Sharp QHD screen, excellent FIVE cameras, colossal video stabilization, almost extinct audio headjack, true Quad DAC, super fast data download/upload, long lasting battery, fast 18W charge, 10W wireless charging, IP rating, MIL-STD compliant, expandable storage, easy-to-use one handed, faultless design with no camera hump, not too heavy like all those you-name-it Pro's smartphones. The joy of stabilized ultra wide video shots is enormous!
man everyone is just sleeping on lg. typing this on my beloved v40
Hope we keep getting these V series. Theyre so damn good.
Because lg phones hardware sucks. They had a major bootloop issue and then not turning on at all with the v10s and v20s. Including myself.
@@thefitnesslife4988 they've since fixed those problems. like the v20 was years ago and bootlooping was mainly seen in the lgg4. we're on the lg8 and v50 now. their hardware improved a lot. I can't believe people are still giving lg shit about their hardware from years ago. like the Samsung note 7 had exploding batteries and everyone forgot about it when the note 8 came out. jeez
@@kurei0. It happened to my v20, After that I said I'm never getting a lg phone again. I lost so much data that I had on there. Also before that I had the LG g3 and the touch screen randomly stopped working and it had no cracks.

LG pulled the V series from Canada. Right when i need a new phone. Genius movie LG...
There you are! Subscribed! Always like your vids, and this one is no exception... Even before LG announced their departure from the mobile device market, this and the V40 were both going for a song... If you could ever get around the handset's bulk because of its namesake (The "V" is for "Video", which in the creation of, is what this handset had been initially designed for), the overall power of this unit and of course, the DAC for the audiophile - is unparalleled!
You found me 😊

Finally a reviewer who appreciates the superior audio quality. It's not just a headphone jack, the dac puts daps to shame

@@zoyaspencer8025 lol be serious. I'm pretty sure you haven't checked the LG DAC to know the difference.
Nobody who really likes to listen to music, has crappy ear/headphones. Of course you need something that can play all the dbs properly. But, I'm hoping the V60 will be even more "epic" than the V50, and that LG will keep its core strengths and work on adding things like a 90hz display, no notch, better external speakers, even better battery life, etc. Great review, Juan! Keep up the great work and the LG love!
If LG Marketing had hired this guy, their phones would not have died. RIP quad dac phone.
true, very sad for us audiophiles
I fell in love with LG's V series since I used one. My first V series phone was the V20, it didn't disappoint me at all. These devices are awesome.
I remember I end up buying the V20 thanks to your review a couple of years ago, now I'm finally upgrading to the Pixel 4, after really loving my V20 all this time. Since you seem to be the only one aware of the quality of LG phones, would you consider a comparison between the Pixel 4 and the LG V50? Thanks for all your videos, I really love them!
I've always liked LG specially after V10.
I wish they still did the mods as well,
Their UI is full with features hence a bit slow comparatively.
"you get used to it...you get used to it..." Hahahahah that 1 sec frame
I am glad that I'm not the only guy making videos about LG smartphones!
LG lowkey killing it... Why is non of the big channels talking about it?.. you a good man
The most important thing in a phone to me is battery life (not counting the energizer phone)
I love my V40. Everyone asks me what phone i have. lol
I loved showing off what that phone could do. I would see Samsung fans say "I bet we'll get those features" and then Samsung gutted the Note 9 camera app.
Yeah my battery life isnt great, but mine was a display model so idk...
V50 seems great phone but I'll hang on to my V30+ a little longer until V50's price drops.
I wish I could afford one. That price point is why I've had my cracked screen Stylo 2 for over four years, which is still running strong. Btw, when you threw shade on LG's battery history, I couldn't help but chuckle. Great vid, keep fighting the good fight!
Was so great they finally listened LOL
I never heard of you before. How is that possible? This was the best, most well thought out review, of any phone I've ever watched. Your enthusiasm and interest were obviously real. So well done that I subscribed. I've never subscribed to any reviewer's channel before. The video was informative and entertaining!
When you rolled out eyes towards Lg V50 by saying if you want the best.....that was hilarious 🤣 🤣
😁
"You get used to it! You get used to it!" 😂🤣 You're awesome. Thank you for this sir. 👍
Having an HJ automatically makes this device one of the best phones you can get.
Took me a sec to figure out what you meant there. HJ means something else to me...
@@SomeGadgetGuy ?odd. I'm talking about a headphone port.
The all new LG V50! Now comes with free complimentary handies with every purchase 😂😂
A fresh UI and a good marketing can change the game FOR LG.. ❤️
Juan, Why can't I find one of these unlocked?
Has LG given this phone exclusively to the carriers for distribution? Love your reviews and Mondays!
LG is really underrated by many. After seeing this video I almost regret getting the Note 10+ :P
But I don't get it with the updates.. One model they had was released with the latest Android even before the Pixel phones got it and later the lag behind again. Confusing
Its a good thing LG is underrated, how else would we get these beast devices for steal prices?
I think LG PURPOSEFULLY doesn't market their phones to give us hardcore Audio Enthusiasts and content creators powerful phones for good prices.
I feel the same way...bit this phone is $1000...not a bargain anymore...unless I wait 6 months.
@@jazzyboy7784 AHh agreed. Gonna snag the G& (for the boom box speakers) then ill just keep going up the line (G8, V40 etc). Wish they still had the V30S+ in stock, all that space would serve me a good while.
@@SirBrucie you guys know the 4k recording limited on this device?
Spot on review. Love my v40 and it still handles like a beast... Looking at that v60 when it drops or the pixel 5.. but that headphone jack and quad dac is surprisingly the highest selling point.. then secondary the camera
Hello from Lubbock Texas. Best review ever in my opinion. It's 41 a month thru Sprint. 18 month plan.
Omg :( at 1:50 I got so much nostalgia. I remember having this Spider Man figure as a kid and loved it 😭. Great video as always! 👍
Im currently on the G7, so its too early for me to upgrade personally. Hopefully though, the 2020 LG phones are just as amazing as these.
I REALLY hope LG holds on to the DAC and pro features!
2020 will be a upgrade because the phones will have upgraded memory storage.
I'm still using my LG v30
Me too
Me three.... and I still like it
Me four and i love it...
Me five lol
Well, that settles it. I'm going to get this today.
I just picked up a V50 for $110. An absolute steal for this phone and absolutely still a flagship phone.
That's a great price!
A massively underrated phone brand.
