Such a good interview! I've had mixed feelings about the reveal that Maximus is Lucius's father, but I definitely see what Connie is talking about when she says she played Lucilla as knowing Maximus is the father. Can't wait for Gladiator 2! And gosh Connie is still gorgeous.
Rewatched Gladiator. Richard Harris is magnificent. Oliver Reed delivers a strong performance. Joaquin is admirably unhinged. Connie is regal and vulnerable. Russell is the star. The direction by Ridley is excellent. The film stands up well after these years
Well actually she tells Maximus in Gladiator that Lucius is his son. When they meet the first time in a cell in Rome. “To live in terror every moment every day Because your son is heir to the throne. Oh I have wept.”
Ridley Scott: "Zimmer is doing too many films, he better not give me something recycled". Hans Zimmer: recycles the Gladiator battle score for Pirates of the Caribbean.
I recently watched the first gladiator, enjoyed. She was great-cant believe she was my age in it. She was so regal lol. I didnt realize she has an accent irl.
Man, you see her and you see Russell and he does still put his all into some of his B-movies (the Pope's Exorcist is worth watching for horror fans _just_ for him), but only one of these people has been drinking a carton of beer every night lol
Man Joaquin was such a creep in that movie. The way he leered at his sister😂 I need to watch that movie again I think for the 50th time. I was 19 when it came out, and I was so enamored with that movie with “strength and honor” in my head all the time. Plus I would get lost in that soundtrack all the time.
Lucius Verus should have been played by the original actor (Spencer Treat Clark). Paul Mescal doesn't even look like him. Ridley Scott's excuse doesn't fly.

Her performance in Gladiator(2000) was superb and the film is a masterpiece
She has aged very beautifully.
yeah. Beautifulwoman
I was just gonna say the same thing. She looks amazing for 59!
Wow….id love to look this good at 59
Danish genes ;)
She doesn't look like herself, she did in Wonder Woman
Connie Nielsen will forever be known as Lucilla. Such a warm human being.

Gladiator 2 will be one those sequels that shouldn't have happened (i.e. cash grab).
She's right, i had noticed this scene and i had the same feeling...she's one of the best actresses of her generation!✌
Rewatched first and indeed it’s just indicated but not mentioned but many indications
I can look at Connie Nielson all day
She was so pretty in Gladiator and she honestly still looks great now❤
“AM I NOT MERCIFUL!”
- Commodus
So chilling and terrifying
"Go to them...." best line in the film... out of many great lines.
Well actually she tells Maximus in Gladiator that Lucius is his son. When they meet the first time in a cell in Rome. “To live in terror every moment every day Because your son is heir to the throne. Oh I have wept.”
@SanderZurhake actually she is referring to herself in second person, and not Maximus
Ridley Scott: "Zimmer is doing too many films, he better not give me something recycled". Hans Zimmer: recycles the Gladiator battle score for Pirates of the Caribbean.

Shes like, not aged any
What cool insight into one of my favorite films!
I mean.its clear as day. If their wasn't a sequel.
This woman is an ageless beauty.
How did ppl not know???? It was happily mentioned in the story part
Man, you see her and you see Russell and he does still put his all into some of his B-movies (the Pope's Exorcist is worth watching for horror fans _just_ for him), but only one of these people has been drinking a carton of beer every night lol
That's it. We've got our lucius spin off. The ball is on your side Ridley@.
Maximus said Rome was the light…
Lucius means Light.
Lucius is safe.. Rome is Safe
A soldiers duty and promise is fulfilled.
She's a goddess
She looks ageless

You don’t apologize for acting, as actors you want it to be intense. However you might apologize if you think you may have spit on them 😂
superb
I knew it
Hasn't been seen since........hmmm......Gladiator!
…Wonder Woman?
She looks a bit like Charlize Theron here.
Lucius Verus should have been played by the original actor (Spencer Treat Clark). Paul Mescal doesn't even look like him. Ridley Scott's excuse doesn't fly.
