      I'm trying to install the security door but confused about the frame of the front door. It is not flat should I take the frame off and put a flat frame on then install the security door so it can be flush?

    I install these alot and almost everytime I need to shave the detail off the brickmould to make it sit flat. These doors are not meant for openings between brick or siding unless you have a full 2" brickmould piece all around to sit on..with a 36" your overall width of brickmould you would need outside to outside measurement of 40"or more..

    At minute 3:18. Top edge of the door being 1/8 inch from bottom of frame, not too sure about that. Why do you need that gap?

    Basic question for the average homeowner with all of these basic tools with this project be approximately two hours

    • @grishambros7662
      @grishambros7662  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Frank, if you mounting surface does not require any prep, then the installation should take less than an hour.

    how thick was the wood that you out under the door to hold it in place and keep spacing right?

    • @grishambros7662
      @grishambros7662  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jimmie, we used a scrap piece of brick-mold trim, the high side of 1-1/8" inches was placed under the door. Your bracing required could be different. The key is to support the door so that the upper portion of the door and header cap rest on the mounting surface correctly. You could need a pc of 2" x 4" or a 1/2" inch thick pc of plywood. I would suggest installing the door with conventional screws that can be removed and then replaced with the non-reversing screws when satisfied everything has lined up correctly.
      Thank You,
      Grisham Bros.

    Why wouldn’t a thief simply be able to pry the frame away with crowbar?

    Do you sell a security screen for a 3 panel sliding patio door?

      James, we do not have anything that would adapt to a two or three panel patio door. Sorry.

    I installed this today. Those screws that come with it are terrible. They're crap quality. Easily strip. Now I have a few of them that aren't all the way in and since they're stripped I can't get them in, and since they're one way I can't even get them out and replace them with some quality screws. Those screws made the whole installation crappy and the door is garbage since it isn't actually secured.

      Easily replaceable. Remove each set of screws holding the handle set and keyed deadbolt and the two corresponding screws for the strike and deadbolt. Follow re-installation steps starting at 6:16 of this video.

    • @grishambros7662

      As long as the brickmold or mounting surface is solid and free from defects, then the Protector door will hold its ground very well. Tens of thousands satisfied customers.

    Looks weak!

    • @grishambros7662
      @grishambros7662  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually, the SD-808 Protector is fabricated with a 16-gauge steel frame and pickets. The door also incorporates a heavy steel
      expanded screen inlay. One of the strongest doors within this category of security doors. Generally, the weakest part of any installation is the mounting surface, if the surface is showing decay.Thank You,Grisham Bros.

    • @natureboi2426

      Do you making anything thicker ? like 11 gauge?

    • @grishambros7662
      @grishambros7662  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Typical doorway could not support the weight of a 11 gauge door. Keep in mind how something is engineered promotes overall integrity.
