There was one thing you forgot to mention: After beating each track you unlock a time trial mode where if you beat all of T.T.'s times you can play as him and he is insane. High speed, great turning ability, it's no wonder his times are so quick.
I'll never understand the Mario Kart hype when the real party's over at Diddy and Crash's place. Seriously, both CTR and DKR are absolute KINGS of the cart racer genre
It's kinda cool that the guy who voiced T.T. (the clock), Dominic Hecht (sometimes credited as Dean Smith), is still active in voice acting, though mostly in audio dramas such as those by Augustine Institute Radio Theatre and BBC Radio. I can't remember the last time he was in video games, but it's kinda cool that you can still hear him in stuff to this day, with his most recent work being Augustine Institute Radio Theatre's Victory of Joan of Arc as the voice of Bertrand de Poulengy. here's hoping we hear more of the Rareware people do voice acting in the future.
@@jiggylookback Considering the setting is his private island, isn't he the main character? I figured Diddy Kong's name was just slapped in the title for marketing.
Originally it was supposed to be Timber's game and his adventure, but Nintendo and RARE got together and it was decided to name it after Diddy Kong in order to give the Racing Game better chance to sell more copies.
It was originally supposed to be a reboot of RC Pro AM...also there's a Sega Genesis remake called Championship Pro AM and it's actually better than the NES version...Rare made a few games for the Sega Genesis before Nintendo bought a 49% stake in Rare.
Take all that anxiety of the first Wizpig race, the crazy music and the screen shaking because he is right on your ass and the rain and the lightning. Then be 10 years old in the dark. This game is one of my greatest gaming memories, especially this race, incredible.

Also remember it used to glitch and it unlocked all the levels. I remember turning it on and having 99 ballons and being able to play on the space levels without unlocking them. Also remember being able to use whatever vehicle and Karting on flight levels
DKR in my opinion will always be better than Mario Kart 64. Amazing soundtrack, memorable tracks, great storyline and fun multiplayer! It's a shame we never got the sequel we all rightfully deserve when Microsoft bought Rare.
I'm pretty sure that two tracks in every world other than Dino Domain share a piece of music. So Everfrost Peak & Snowball Valley, Pirate Lagoon & Treasure Caves, and Stardust Alley & Star City all share music.
@@jiggylookback It's easy to miss as you're casually playing through the game. The slightly different setting of the races in a world can help the music "feel" a little different. Rare were definitely experts in getting the most out of the limited space on those cartridges.

This game was a big part of my later childhood/early teenage years. I do remember struggling mightily to beat the first Wizpig race; I still consider it one of the hardest boss levels of any game I've played. And the music from DKR absolutely SLAPS. David Wise absolutely outdid himself, which was tough considering how good his music in the DKC games was.
Yeah its crazy hard. I got the game as my first videogame ever when it just came out (i was 7) and just playing through the game was HARD. First wizpig was just madness, i have no clue how i beat this back then. As an adult ofcourse i can beat everything relatively easily but the first wizpig still requires a couple of tries and feels very intense.
I think you're expected to use the green boosts from the Zippers in the first race against Wizpig. At the very least, that's the only way I was able to beat him. To be fair, I never tried again without them after unlocking TT (not talking about using TT in the race so much as my improved skills).
300 subs, let's go! You're definitely in the hardest part, building up enough viewers, but hang in there and it'll pay off if you keep at it once you get big enough. If I can add some constructive criticism--because I would love to see your channel take off--this one did sound too often like you were reading from a script. It's completely fine to read from a script, and it's not a problem if it sounds like you are every so often, but the best parts are when your personality and passion shines through, which I don't think happened at first until around the 5 min mark. Those are the parts I'm here for. When you're invested, your audience is invested. And I don't mean pretending to sound a certain way, but just letting your genuine thoughts come through. Editing is really good--you're definitely putting in a lot of work into these vids and it shows.
You really should try out mirror mode! It is a challenge mode you unlock after the first playthrough. In mirror mode everything is mirrored, but more importantly the silver coins are a lot better hidden/out of your way.
the best part of this game is the time trial. i dont want to be that anoying person, but you cant really see how good the game is until you get an rival to compete in the time trial for the best lap and total time records. at least try to unlock T.T.
@@PaperBanjo64 I don’t believe so. Ive done a few theories on this. I think dinosaur planet is out in the cosmos and accessed via a Warp somewhere in Dino domain. Terrydactyland perhaps as well. @jiggylookback I commented before finishing the video...Tricky is probably just a common name amongst the dino community, maybe some dinosaurs moved from Dinosaur Planet to the Northern Kremisphere and settled a few dino communities on the Isle O' Hags and Timber Island.

That music is so good across the board, it's sort of ridiculous
