- I am ending my TH-cam break/hiatus with this episode of the TS185 restoration! I hope the wait will be worth it, because now I am just one more video away from reassembling the 1977 Suzuki TS185!!! In this episode, I removed all of the old paint from this freshly rebuilt engine, cleaned it up real good and gave it a nice and clean paint job! Stay tuned for the next episode where I will be modifying and painting the frame, then it will be time for reassembly!!!!

Please don't modify the chassis for a seat..the chassis is worth more than a seat you can easily replace. Also the motor came out great 👍
All I have to do is move the hinge points on the frame to the other side and add some brackets. No big deal. Plus, I already restored the seat in a different video. Watch that video, then you'll understand!
Good Job! But in my opinion better paint with motor dissassemble in parts. I prefer no bolt paint!

That aircraft remover is the best! I did my cx500 tank. Worked amazing.
You’ve had the engine disassembled so it would be a lot easier to remove the paint and even painted before assembly... it would definitely be done without any risk for the gaskets and seals. Try it next time😉

I watched all 23 video is less that 24 hours! I was sick yesterday so I sat miserable on the couch cussing at all your bumbling buffoonery. I must say, you show a lot of heart and tenacity, intuiting your way thru this. It’s good experience that will mature your skills in small engine repair and pay lifetime benefits. Just PLEASE be safer, don’t ride bikes with no brakes and don’t breathe all that crap. As a dad, i had a shit attack! Think of your health and safety more!!! (done ranting) Can’t wait to see how this bike turns out!

Looks great but I am wondering about the heat with the painted fins. The fins cool the engine and now they are sealed and will keep more heat in. You might have to strip the edges of the fins if it is running too hot. but it looks great!
should use brush wire first instead of sand paper
,paint would hardly want to stick on any finished alu .right?
If the aircraft remover burns hard paint of course it would burn the gaskets seen it happen before some are just cardboard

hey mate, great work! Planning to use the same brand paint on my 1991 Honda XL185 engine, how did it hold up with heat and fuel droplets leaks and etc ?
It held up really well actually!!! Mostly fuel proof and definitely heat proof.
I just love flat black paint 😅 just me...

I DEFINITELY WOULD NEVER USE BUNGEE CORD!!! 🤦♂️. Yes it did work here but please don’t try that at home. Bungee cords break all the time! They are not made to bare any kind of weight. Just use rope with a bowline or figure 8 knots on each end.
Is it safe to wash that paint remover down the sink?
Aircraft remover definitely completely fucks all gaskets and seals! I sacrificed some old gaskets and seals and o rings to find out for myself lol

Where do you think the paint, oil and chemicals go when you wash them down the drain? Out of sight...
Or just sprayed the sleeve and head with some sanding on the sleeve fins.
whats the point satin black then gloss clear coat. ps hows it holding up? any trouble with road debris, gas/oil?

Great videos, keep up the good work. Been following you on the TS185 build as I'm also busy with a restoration on a TF185. A rebuild from scratch , got everything in crates. Just had a rolling frame with all stripped off it.

Superb job sir ... I would have left the satin black as is without the gloss coat but hey that is just my opinion
For future projects try using SPRAY 9 and a paint brush with long bristles, when you agitate the grease with the brush and chemical the grease/grime you can spray it all off with a hose, no scrubbing or wasting a ton of paper towels.

Hey man nice work on that bike but next time you should do the engine paintjob when it is dissassembled... when you will have to dissassemble it again, that paintjob will be destroyed

Great video.a little advice build yourself a bench mounted engine stand i made one and it is great for most bike engines.also would be easier to prep engine for paint when its disassembled

Sir, a clean off and a coat of paint is not a rebuild. it's a paint job.

I'd use truck bed liner for the frame paint. I used it when restoring my 1975 Kawasaki G5

hey man, i have a question you might be able to answer. im currently working on a 50cc derbi moped. the paint on the enige is partly gone and it needs some new paint. do i need to take all the old paint away from the engine to let the new paint stick, or sticks the paint pretty well on not really cleaned pieces? i also was interested in the paint thinner. what is the purpose of that actually?
Waarschijnlijk is dit antwoord te laat, maar in ieder geval: als je de oude verf er niet of amper afhaalt ga je dat natuurlijk in je nieuwe verf zien, en nieuwe verf hecht niet aan vette/vuile oppervlakken. Daardoor heeft hij het eerst ontvet. Ik raad het niet echt aan om dit op deze manier te proberen, op den duur wordt het vaak lelijk.
