Very important for using a DA polisher: you'll need multiple pads of each type if you want to do your whole car at once. One pad per 1-2 panels. The pads get dirty from oxidized paint and dried polish, which can get slung across the surface you want to correct. After every 2x2 section, you'll want to blow them out with compressed air or spin on a pad brush. This would actually be a great "how to" video to cover. Most of the beginner DA polishing videos just show before/after and not what's needed/how to properly correct an entire vehicle.

Everytime i see one of these videos my mind is like "and the best christmas gift for this year is the brand new corvette" or something along those lines and thats one reason why i like chrisfix videos of this sort because they are realistic gift ideas
My favorite part of this whole video was figuring out through oil capacity, what the oil pan looked like, and oil weight, I figured out it’s a gorgeous Dodge Viper. Can’t wait to see it 👀
The Intro is amazing. Chris, Thanks for being so consistent within making "reliable" and loyal trustworthy videos, You really always show us all the love and passion. You always give the best advice and possible. I really enjoy watching your videos. I really think you are a great guy with a great personality.
Great gift ideas! That ratchet extender is really nifty. There’s a few bolts that immediately come to mind. I’m sure you’ll go over it in your E85 video, but for anyone considering switching, know that while ethical is cheaper, your MPG will drop a bit.
@@gsmith7162 Most stock injectors have quite a bit of headroom for amount of flow you can go up before maxing them out. Now...if you were doing full bolt ons and upping the power considerably with the e85 also then yeah, new injectors are needed.
Cool stuff as always Chris! Just a note...on that E85 kit....you may not save as much as you think. E85 gas has less energy than E10 or E15 or "regular gas". So it takes more gas to get the same distance. 30 MPG on E15, might only be 25 MPG on E85. So the savings needs to be over 30-40% in gas price just to break even with the energy loss and extra fuel needed to purchase. How do I know? I drove a 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.3l v6 for 8 years. It was E85 compatible from new. I only bought E85 when it was more than 30% cheaper. Those prices you found/showed? Not reality around the US. Most are 20-30% or less in price difference...making it not worth putting it in. Plus, there are differences in fuel lines/fittings, etc....and that kit may void any warranty left. That said...E85 is a more environmentally friendly fuel, since it's 85% ethanol, made from corn products.
Thanks! I couldn’t get into details but I lost 20% in fuel economy and with the gas prices in some states you save 50% so that means in reality it’s 30% cheaper which is still decent.
When it comes to the magnetic spark plug socket, I can approve this. I'm studying as a mechanic and my work placement has them. They make life SOOOO much easier. They have them but as a whole. I can definitely recommend it!
Agreed. Obviously, it's not strenuous to grab a pair of needle-nose and pluck those little buggers out, but just being able to save that little bit of time makes such a huge difference!
0:56 it's your first time decorating a christmast tree while drifting a car? Dude it was my first time seeing someone decorating their christmast tree while drifting a carr, your content is soo awesome chris, this is the best gift you can ever give to your subscriber 😁
I’m an accomplished auto mechanic, although it’s not how I earn a living. I’ve rebuilt engines, transmissions, diffs and more, but I’ve still learned a few things watching your channel. I like the way you explain things in simple English instead of technical jargon. I tend to believe that having the tools to do the job is key but understanding mechanical systems is the first step. You explain things instead of just telling how to repair the problem. Thank you for making it easy for me to tell others they can do what I do. I try to send people to your channel everyday.
You are literally the best youtuber. Always quality over quantity, always consistent. And here you are with 8.5 million subs still in the comments interacting with viewers.. great work man
Hey Chris I love the addiction of the ToughBuilt scraper, I personally think it's an amazing tool but it has one downside that I've noticed personally and why I haven't bought it is. if you hold it upside down (With the blade pointed to the ground) The internal spring isn't strong enough to retract the blade into the body of the knife. Aside from that one major complaint It's a good tool.
I mean I’d just take the half second to tilt it up right and then retract🤷♂️ it’s a downside but don’t think it’s a major complaint. I have one. Works on everything from tint to decals, boxes at work, paint stuck on floors, etc.
That car is DEFINITELY a viper lol. The valve cover, the V that is visible on the intake, the hose on the driver side, and even the sticker! I love this car and can't wait to see it! It's my dream car.
Usually I am johnny-on-the-spot watching these videos. Been busy well over the past week and a half so I am just now getting to watch this. As always another great video, I would have to say that the funnel, spark plug sockets and the smoke machine have got to be the top three best ideas for the beginner DIY all the way up to the seasoned DIY
I think the blurred car is a MK1 Viper, because of the sound, the red colour, the wide and low grille, and the fog lights (maybe?) flanking it. The oil filter also has FCA written on it, and the engine bay looks vaguely similar. I could definitely be wrong though.
I want to start changing my car's oil at home and definitely going to get the better quality (long) ramps and that cool oil utter. Thanks for the tips! Fleece Navidad (and Cooper too)!
@@MrEazyE357 nice to see someone else that doesn't have thousands of dollars lying around for tools I'll only use a few times. Used to be a diy channel and I'm not sure it is anymore. They're cool tools but who pays $200 for a christmas gift?
I was so happy to see this finally drop! Great gifts this year, as always. As an aside, I'm just finishing up my first big project on my first car - rear spring & isolator replacement - and I don't think it would've happeneded without your help ChrisFix! The no nonsense, accessible and human approach to car maintanence removed any fear, and quashed all the comments I've heard of "oh you can't work on your car, it's dangerous if you're not a mechanic", and has made me fall in love with working on my own car. I would honestly estimate that you have saved countless people around the world literally millions of bucks in mechanic costs, and that alone is one hell of a legacy to leave. But you also make it fun! Thank you for everything you do!!! Merry Christmas dude
I was just casually listening to this video and didn’t even realize this was you Chris! I started watching you wayyyy back in the “super clean engine” mustang days. Your growth is phenomenal.
you had me with the ethanol conversion at " it makes the exhaust spell good". awesome video chrisfix. everytime you recommend a tool i try to get it to stock up my tool box which currently doesnt have a lot of tools.
I'm skeptical on the kit. I had a crown Vic with the same engine (close model year) as that drift stang. The same e85 conversion question would come up at any gas price spike. The answer was always the same by the enthusiasts, don't do it. E85 is going to dry out anything designed for gasoline only and lead to premature failure on the fuel lines. The flex fuel vehicles had different lines to resist the issue, but not impervious. So if you wanted to do the conversion, you can, but unless you replaced all the lines you were asking for a premature failure. Naturally you need to program for E85 like this does, but it's not as simple as just doing that.
@@TheJuanSolid we verify the fuel system compatibility, we’ve sold over 40k kits with zero complaints about fuel line issues (like in the drift stang after 2yrs), since early 90s the standard has been that fuel system parts are ethanol compatible and ethanol itself is not corrosive in any way
I mean, probably a red herring, but at least make it, like, a more obvious one? Sometimes it's funnier like that, y'know? Like if he labeled that bottle "Datsun," or "Peterbilt," or "Fuso"
I was working on my 4 cylinder engine doing spark plugs, the extension came off without the socket. I got the socket out with needle nose pliers but the the rubber grommet came off and I had to get that with the pliers too. Will be getting the magnet sockets 😅
This is an awesome video thank you so much Chris! You have always been a huge role model for me! I’ve had 12 cars and im only 18 including a 1996 sn95 mustang and a 1985 Chevy corvette! While working on my first project I messaged you and you were able to help me through that first project! Thank you again!
The ethanol conversion kit is pretty interesting, but be aware ethanol eats away at aluminium much faster than regular gasoline, so this may actually cause damage to your engine or fuel system in the long run if your engine/fuel system is aluminium based. (For the Americans: aluminium = aluminum)
That and the fuel lines are not designed for it. The flex fuel vehicles have different file lines to resist the problem. All the forum posts I have read state it's like dry out or something. Regardless it's a premature failure because the materials are not right. Your need to replace the whole system really for the conversion, and most people won't do it, or pay the huge fee for it, expensive gas is cheaper and gets you more mpg than e85 (failed to mention that in the video when talking price per gallon). Not as simple as just programming like that company makes it seem.
That’s actually a misconception and inaccurate. Ethanol does not affect aluminum chemically. Ethanol has an affinity for water more than gasoline so on stuff like boats or collector cars where they sit a lot, the water causes increase corrosion rates. Also ethanol, unlike gasoline, can conduct electricity and cause galvanic corrosion which is more likely a problem in boats not cars. Most fuel tanks in cars are plastic so it’s not a big deal anyway. Most fuel system parts are stainless so again not a problem.
@@TheJuanSolid another misconception. That’s why I say check the website to make sure the car is compatible. The type of fuel line used and the different parts of the fuel system are taken into account in their database so it makes sure the fuel system will not be harmed by the E85. Hence the reason the DriftStang and Del Sol have been fine 2 years later and will continue to be fine.
@@chrisfix I'll wait for your video, but it makes no sense for the vehicle engineers to not implement e85 across the board then. It would make the vehicles more popular and lead to increased sales. No brainer, but they don't do it. Add on fuel credits they need to buy due to inefficient vehicles and sounds insane not to do it. However for a cheap price and quick install you can finally unlock what big transport does not want you to know! Use any other too good to be true sounding statement and it's probably why people believe the misconceptions and incorrect info etc.
Always love seeing all the unique tools I've never heard of when you make these videos man! Definitely need to add that drill bit box to my Christmas list, I break so many drill bits, it's downright painful o_O Looking forward to seeing the "Ferrari" and E85 videos next year! Keep up the great work!
Well done on everything you do. You helped me and still Help Me so Much! I've been watching and listening. Im just about to start my Car today after working on it on and off but on for the last Month or so so hopefully it'll be a charm. Keep It Up, Well Done!
I would like to mention that ethanol based fuel is less energy dense than regular gasoline. Although the price of ethanol based fuel is less than regular gas, it does not give you the same miles per gallon. In fact it gives you 15% to 27% less mpg compared to regular gasoline.
I was already blown away by what you've done for this family but then the extra $30k from you for the charity and then the inspired +$20k from the other two?! Amazing! 😊
Heya Chris, excellent video as always. I'm sure you have done your research on the matter, but as a fellow owner of a Gen 3 'mystery car' I wanted to pass on advice that was burned in to my brain by the community of owners. I am a die hard WIX guy, but was told very explicitly for this car to only use the OEM filter. Filter number is MO-836. Cheers Chris, enjoy it in good health, they are wonderful cars. 🍻
Just a small correction (and with 5000+ comment im sure its been mentioned before, but in the off chance its been missed) @2:20 These weight ratings in the door jamb are not the vehicle weights. GAWR/GVWR stands for gross axle weight rating, or gross vehicle weight rating. These are weight RATINGS, and rate the maximum safe weight to have over either axle (or total for the vehicle for the gvwr). This is important to know if youre loading the car with a bunch of heavy stuff, or towing things.
Hey Chris, where the 2022 list?! I can complete my Christmas list until you post the 2022 Christmas Gift Idea video. Seriously, Happy Holidays! I can’t waiting for the upcoming video.
This video series is always so cool! Especially this one where it shows a new car that we've never seen before, my guesses is a 2nd gen viper. Sounds like a viper, looks like one (kinda mistook it as a corvette c6 ngl) and is in a cool red color to throw us off!
good stuff as usual. question, is there any problem with putting the ramps under all 4 wheels, ie to lift level and have room the full length. ? thanks Chris
If it can fit under your door sills then yea totally you can lift a car up with 4 ramps, normally I drive up the ramps in the front and jack it up in the rear and use “wheel cribs” to hold it up or jack stands.
If I am not the first. I surely should not be the last. I just want to say "Thank you for all of these videos. I have watched your videos enough to at least try to fix my car." I have saved myself a couple grand doing my own car maintenance. Even with my mistakes. 😂I have come to enjoy it.
Chris: "This is the first time I'm decorating my Christmas tree by drifting a car" Us:"Yeah we are doing it since a few years". Just for Fun ,Great content maker . Respect.
I've heard the ramps can be dangerous because some people claim they've broken while holding the car... I'm skeptical because they are plastic... please check for crackings or denting on the ramps before using them Chris! I care a lot about your safety!! I'd be devastated if anything happened 😰
Thank you!! I look forward to these every year (sometimes for myself 🤭) . Everyone please like the video! He went through the trouble of wrapping the gifts for us, not all heroes wear capes
Hey Chris, always love the gifts year after year, I have bought some of the items over the last 4 years and will def be buying the large oil udder, just wondering what is your opinion or anyone else reading this, on these fuel saving gadgets that plug into your car or truck OSB something under your steering wheel, do they really work? Are they worth even buying to test or will they damage your car or trucks engine or any other major components?
Gotcha, thanks for getting back to me, hope all is well with you and your family, can’t wait for next big or short video, I’m getting ready to do the truck bed light project soon, and have plans to get a performance exhaust installed and a 3” lift kit on my 17 Titan XD
Thanks for another year of great videos Chris. Oil udder seems like a great idea. Unfortunately seems like "one careful owner" likes to torque the filters to 1000 ft/lb so it's near impossible to remove anyway. 🤣
Nice list. I've wanted the Ryobi polisher ever since I saw the pre-release info on it. I've only heard bad things about the older, larger polisher by Ryobi, so I've stayed away from it. I'm also gonna check out the no-spill funnel, I think.

Chris, Thanks for being so consistent within making "reliable" and loyal trustworthy videos,
You really always show us all the love and passion.
Thanks a lot and 100%
@@chrisfix Did you dyno tune the car with e85? You can advance your timing plenty now seeing as it's 105 oct!
I'm a bit curious how the kit works without larger injectors, I assume there would be a loss in power. Looking forward to the video.
@@gsmith7162 Most stock injectors have quite a bit of headroom for amount of flow you can go up before maxing them out. Now...if you were doing full bolt ons and upping the power considerably with the e85 also then yeah, new injectors are needed.
Fuel mileage is nearly half with E85 but you will pick up performance with the car custom tuned to E85.
Sick man but so awesome 🤩 I love it keep up the amazing work!!!
Thanks! 😁
But... MO POWAH BABY
Exactly here in san diego, its only 20 cents cheaper than unleaded gas
Agree. Where I live, E85 is only about 10-20 cents cheaper per gallon than E10. Not worth it.
@@specialopsdave I see we have a fellow donut fan here.
I started watching your videos 6 years ago and I've learned so much. Thank you for making your videos man, you are honestly a real inspiration.
Saaaaaaaaaab
And here you are with 8.5 million subs still in the comments interacting with viewers.. great work man
Thanks a lot dude!
It's my dream car.
you’ve come a long way chris!
The oil udder is a present I'm going to give myself.
Those drill brushes are amazing, I have the same kit. I even use them to clean around the house too.
Thanks a lot Brandon!
Been a subscriber for years now, but I love how Chris still wears a helmet
I think the blurred car is a MK1 Viper, because of the sound, the red colour, the wide and low grille, and the fog lights (maybe?) flanking it. The oil filter also has FCA written on it, and the engine bay looks vaguely similar. I could definitely be wrong though.
It is 7:46 massive airfilter and mopar oil filter
And if you look up a viper oil change it has the same everything
I want to start changing my car's oil at home and definitely going to get the better quality (long) ramps and that cool oil utter. Thanks for the tips! Fleece Navidad (and Cooper too)!
I was liking them too but they're $500!
@@MrEazyE357 nice to see someone else that doesn't have thousands of dollars lying around for tools I'll only use a few times. Used to be a diy channel and I'm not sure it is anymore. They're cool tools but who pays $200 for a christmas gift?
Thanks again for sharing and showcasing our kit! We're super excited to see the next videos on e85!
Any time!
Yay every year we get the ChrisFix top 10 gadgets, Christmas gift ideas 😅👍
That’s awesome to hear David! Keep it up!!!
As always, you are a master of your craft, Chris. Thank you again for all these years of content! Keep up the great work!
Naturally you need to program for E85 like this does, but it's not as simple as just doing that.
it does smell good! :)
@@TheJuanSolid we verify the fuel system compatibility, we’ve sold over 40k kits with zero complaints about fuel line issues (like in the drift stang after 2yrs), since early 90s the standard has been that fuel system parts are ethanol compatible and ethanol itself is not corrosive in any way
"The new car's a surprise!"
*blurs car*
*shows catch bottle labeled "Ferrari"*
Wait, you weren't- you weren't supposed to heart this, man, this is my first lmao
Not sure... I was thinking third gen Viper.
I mean, probably a red herring, but at least make it, like, a more obvious one? Sometimes it's funnier like that, y'know? Like if he labeled that bottle "Datsun," or "Peterbilt," or "Fuso"
I saw that and checked comments to see if anyone else saw
@@_BAD_MERC_ engine bay definitely looked like a third gen Viper to me.
Let's go been waiting so long for this
I was working on my 4 cylinder engine doing spark plugs, the extension came off without the socket. I got the socket out with needle nose pliers but the the rubber grommet came off and I had to get that with the pliers too. Will be getting the magnet sockets 😅
Year after year I always look forward to these videos. Thanks for the awesome gift ideas Chris. ✊
Glad you like them!
The video we’ve all been waiting for!!!
Well no actually the turbo on the mustang is what we are all waiting for.
I'm waiting for him to finish the BMW and the Del Sol!
Love how Chris trolls us with the 'Ferrari' on the test bottle. The new car is definitely a Viper!
Thank you so much chris, i thought you forgot it this year :( You saved my christmas! ❤️ Keep it up! ❤️😁
Never! And thanks a lot!
The ultimate gift for us is more AWESOME content from Chris!
Ethanol itself doesn't eat through anything, where you get problems are crap quality E85 fuels with water in them.
Cooper was clearly the main attraction of the video. Best assistant ever
Always love seeing all the unique tools I've never heard of when you make these videos man! Definitely need to add that drill bit box to my Christmas list, I break so many drill bits, it's downright painful o_O
Looking forward to seeing the "Ferrari" and E85 videos next year! Keep up the great work!
Well done on everything you do. You helped me and still Help Me so Much! I've been watching and listening. Im just about to start my Car today after working on it on and off but on for the last Month or so so hopefully it'll be a charm. Keep It Up, Well Done!
Let me know how that goes! Thanks a lot!
Hope to see the Viper in the 2022 Christmas gift ideas.
nope
Just got the conversion kit delivered! Hope to see the guide soon! Thanks again
Thanks for your order! :)
I would like to mention that ethanol based fuel is less energy dense than regular gasoline. Although the price of ethanol based fuel is less than regular gas, it does not give you the same miles per gallon. In fact it gives you 15% to 27% less mpg compared to regular gasoline.
It is still cheaper than regular :) 1/2 of the price for 70-80% economy :)
still cheaper than 95+ octane for a tuned engine though
Absolutely love these vids i've been so excited wish you could teach me to drift my 98 mustang gt lol
Thanks a lot! Watch the DriftStang episodes!
Could you use the oil utter as a funnel?
Yes totally. Some oil drain plugs empty right into a cross bar or hoses and this can be used to funnel it into the catch can.
Yes, we recommend it as a funnel for your used oil. We just don't recommend contaminating fresh oil after using it on your filter.
I was already blown away by what you've done for this family but then the extra $30k from you for the charity and then the inspired +$20k from the other two?! Amazing! 😊
Hiii love seen your videos thanks for all the knowledge you've share with us
Thanks!
Your the man Chris you have showed me so much over the years absolutely love your work Merry Christmas from my family to yours ❤
Just a small correction (and with 5000+ comment im sure its been mentioned before, but in the off chance its been missed)
@2:20
These weight ratings in the door jamb are not the vehicle weights.
Congrats to everyone who comes in every second 🥳
lol
Very great introduction!
Thanks!
Hey Chris, where the 2022 list?! I can complete my Christmas list until you post the 2022 Christmas Gift Idea video. Seriously, Happy Holidays! I can’t waiting for the upcoming video.
“Driftstang takes on CROWN!” that had me dying, good video chris
when you will reveal your new viper?
This video series is always so cool! Especially this one where it shows a new car that we've never seen before, my guesses is a 2nd gen viper. Sounds like a viper, looks like one (kinda mistook it as a corvette c6 ngl) and is in a cool red color to throw us off!
Forgot to mention the engine, it looks so much like a viper. If im correct i'd be amazed :D
im 100% sure it is lol. once i saw the size of the oil pan & filter i lost pretty much every doubt lol
Same
the viper also golds 11qts of oil, and chris said his new car takes 11qts of oil.
If you look at the oil sample bottle, it says a car brand on it
good stuff as usual. question, is there any problem with putting the ramps under all 4 wheels, ie to lift level and have room the full length. ? thanks Chris
I have watched your videos enough to at least try to fix my car."
I have saved myself a couple grand doing my own car maintenance. Even with my mistakes. 😂I have come to enjoy it.
Thanks a lot! I'm glad you have saved a lot of money doing your own maintenance!
Hey Chris, I love your gift idea videos. Are you doing one for 2022?
Yes it will be out hopefully Tuesday and if not, Wednesday!
@@chrisfix Your Christmas gift guide video is always my favorite youtube video of the year.
Yep - it's six years on, it's 2021 and you STILL cannot beat a ChrisFix video. 👍
Watch out for bearing material in the oil in that new car! Those v10’s are known for that 😉
Is it a viper?
He tried the kit for two years on two vehicles just so he can safely recommend it... That's is amazing dedication i love it❤
Chris: "This is the first time I'm decorating my Christmas tree by drifting a car"
Us:"Yeah we are doing it since a few years".
I was blown away by the rachet extender. I've seen them before, but had not used them. Super cool!
Naw from what I’ve seen, they don’t work.
They changed up their products with this new launch! I’m trying out some of their other tools too
@@chrisfix I have a little collection of Ryobi tools now. I'm quite fond of them.
