You owe it to yourself to watch this show start to finish. It's one of my best memories as a kid. I would watch this with my grandma, and it is hilarious! They were all savage! Especially Dorothy's mom, Sophia. She was brutal.
There is one moment on the show where the girls are speaking about staying with one another no matter what when Rose (Betty White) asks, "What happens when there is only one of us left?". Betty White was the last to pass away. I cried when every one of these actresses passed. This show will always be my favorite.
Surprisingly, this show covered a lot of topical subjects during the mid-eighties to early nineties. Homosexuality, AIDS, interracial marriage, adultery, age discrimination, to name a few. They approached these subjects with sincerity and empathy and a large amount of wit. Definitely worth watching the whole series, if you can.👍😉
We went backward as a society. In the 80s, we were moving forward. This show and, Designing Women gave women voices and brought tough subjects right into our living rooms.
Mary Tyler Moore. Betty White was the promiscuous Sue Ann Nivens. Its funny that she and Rue McClanahan convinced the producers to let them switched characters after they were cast because Betty didn’t want to play the same role and Rue thought it would be a blast.
My favorite one was one of Betty White’s ad-libbed lines. She was talking about the scientific magazine, and Blanche popped off with, “I can’t believe you have read anything scientific.” To which Rose replied, “Believe what you want, I don’t care. Hypers*xual b*tch.”
Golden Girls is one of the very few (only?) shows of that era that still holds up today. In fact if this show came out right now it would STILL be the funniest thing on television.
Sophia actually had my favorite “roast “ on the show. On an episode where Blanche is furious over a torrid romance novel her sister wrote that Blanche believes is based on her, Dorothy says “I don’t know what I’d do if (her sister) Gloria wrote about MY sexual escapades.” Sophia snorts, “You’d kill your sister over a pamphlet?”
I like when Sophia and Dorothy were in an argument, and Dorothy asked Sophia to pass her the newspaper (I think). Sophia, being stubborn, sat on it. Dorothy said, "next time I'll ask you to pass me the candlestick."

Bea(trice) Arthur gave us all so many laughs on the silver screen. It all started so humbly for her in a one-episode guest star role on _All In The Family_ ,as Edith’s “Cousin Maude” Findlay, who comes over to take care of the entire family when Archie, Edith, Mike and Gloria all fall ill at the same time. The executives at CBS were so impressed, they gave her her own spin-off series with that character, called _Maude_ . One of her neighbors was played by Rue McClamahan, who had marginally more television experience, including a role she also had for one episode of _All In The Family_ , albeit a different one than Bea Arthur. Bea Arthur also co-starred alongside Betty White as Rose Nylund and Estelle Getty as her sassy Sicilian mother Sophia Petrillo in _The Golden Girls_ .
I was there for the first pilot and continued until the end. Rest in peace to all those wonderful ladies who brought us so much joy through pure dragging❤❤
This show is surprisingly hilarious, I remember watching it with my mom and gma back in the day! Being from MN, Rose always talking about St Olaf cracked me up.
One of the Greatest shows ever to live on TV. I grow up watching the Golden Girls my whole life! I even got the whole set on DVD now, and have Golden Girls socks. I still crack up laughing watching it today!
Betty White (Rose) and Rue McClanahan (Blanche) worked together on Mama’s Family which is another funny show. Rue also worked with Bea Arthur (Dorothy) on a show called Maude. These women were all amazing together. I highly recommend watching some of the Golden Girls blooper videos.
The Golden Girls was just an incredibly well-written show with great comedic actors. It’s stood the test of time coz good work speaks for itself. Timeless 👌
Whenever I'm feeling down or having a rough week, I still watch these talented ladies, and they always put a smile on my face 🙂. That show really was "Golden"
I love this show. It's like a comfort show that I'll always go back to until I die haha. The only bad thing was Mama's Family lost 2 incredible characters with Betty and Rue leaving.
I LOVED Bea Arthur!!! She was always a savage on t.v... she started with Maude...so SO good!!! She was also an avid animal lover who fought for the humane treatment of animals before she passed...she was a Marine...and a helluva woman. Way WAY before her time
In France in 1995 we had those funny girls at TV ... Then never more. I am very sad and in France we can't buy dvd in French.... I love both of 3 so much. They are incredible❤
Betty White has been in one TV show or another since 1949. To me (and thanks to late night reruns on TVLand), her role on Mary Tyler Moore, Golden Girls, and Hot in Cleveland will always be my favorites.
Yeah it was absolutely fabulous, this was an amazing time to be a part of it like you guys have a couple of Snippets of them but if you watch the whole series y'all you're going to get it they were so good on point had their own personalities and it was amazing. I so appreciate that you're bringing this up. Recommendation watch the whole series🎉
I love your channel! I like how you don’t stop and start a lot like some reviewers do. Creator Susan Harris went on to contribute another four episodes to the first season, but became less involved with the sitcom throughout its run; she continued reading all scripts, however, and remained familiar with most of the storylines. Marc Cherry who was a writer on the show went on to make the show Desperate Housewives. It’s incredibly good!
@apriljk6557 yes, when writers of shows could be funny without caring if someone was offended. So the writers could be themselves and write real comedy
I watched this show every week with my grandma when it was originally on. Those were the best times! I was just a little girl, but we would crack up so much watching this! 😂 I miss those times so very much 😢 I now love watching the reruns of it any time I get a chance❤
I miss the Golden Girls. I spent a lot of time at my grandparents home b/c my mom had to work a lot when I was growing up. They always had this show on. I miss my grandparents so much!
I watched this show as a child and I continue to watch it as a grandma. It has taught me so much about myself, relationships and life in general but it’s also just a funny show to watch.
I watched this, Cheers, and Frazier when I was about 7 or 8 years old! Love, love, LOVE this show! On weekends I used to watch the channel, ‘TV Land’ to watch even older shows like, B*witched, Happy Days, Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Dick VanDyke Show, etc.
Still one of my favorite shows! I used to watch this every Saturday night with my grandparents back in the 80s. I have them all on DVD now and still rewatch them. It's definitely worth watching the whole series!

I absolutely love The Golden Girls!!! Dorothy was savage!!!😂
I watched this show since I was a little kid. I’m 41 now and glad it’s streaming bc I still watch it!!
Dorothy’s timing was spot on! One look from her and it says soooo much!!
Dorothy was savage!! MY IDOL 😂😂😂
One of my favorite shows ever ❤ rip to them all watch full episodes it isn’t just comedy they have a lot of good messages and stories
Yes, you should definitely react to full episodes!
They were the absolute FUNNIEST women EVER!!! This show was great! ❤
Betty White has been in one TV show or another since 1949. To me (and thanks to late night reruns on TVLand), her role on Mary Tyler Moore, Golden Girls, and Hot in Cleveland will always be my favorites.
This is my favorite older show,I grew up watching it, watched reruns and now own the box set, its my comfort show that I can fall asleep to.
Sophia is the Queen! Dorothy's mom is Godmode. Played by Estelle Getty.
When people were actually able to be themselves and just talk. When comedians weren't restricted. Love it
It's a TV show, there's a script 😅😅
@apriljk6557 yes, when writers of shows could be funny without caring if someone was offended. So the writers could be themselves and write real comedy
@@rachelleh5237you are ignorant of tv standards at the time which were very strict compared to now
Fun fact, Dorothy was actually a year older than Sophia, who played her Mom.
I watched this show every week with my grandma when it was originally on. Those were the best times! I was just a little girl, but we would crack up so much watching this! 😂 I miss those times so very much 😢
I now love watching the reruns of it any time I get a chance❤
I miss the Golden Girls. I spent a lot of time at my grandparents home b/c my mom had to work a lot when I was growing up. They always had this show on. I miss my grandparents so much!
Loved the show back in the 80's...still love it today! I can identify more with their characters today as well. It's so sad all 4 ladies are gone now.
Bea Arthur also starred in a show called Maude back in the 70s. She was awesome in that show as well! 😂
I watched this show as a child and I continue to watch it as a grandma. It has taught me so much about myself, relationships and life in general but it’s also just a funny show to watch.
This show came out in the 80, and my granddaughter loves this today.
This caught my eye because Dorothy was my favourite. She was awesome, and she rocked those fabulous clothes!
Golden girls remind me of housewives but back in the days with more tee☕️😂😂👍👍👍
I’ve seen every episode at least 1000 times. It never gets old. My kids inherited my love for the show. God bless Sophia, Dorothy, Blanche, and Rose. ❤
I was 13 when this show aired. We watched it most weeks. Of course, I’ve seen a lot of the episodes in syndication too. It was regularly on at my grandma’s house from her late 80s until her death at 98.
