Thank you so much for this video, today i came here just to check out different tire widths. Now i know that i'll run 235s on the front and 255s on the rear, or else i'll be risking rubbing issues. You're the best!
Brah, thanks,I've just spent hours comparing and goin back and forth between 4 different sites trying to dial in what tire I can fit,,really visually informative, thanks really
Okay so I don’t have a problem running a 265 in the rear... but for beginners/intermediate drivers isn’t there is a lot to know about dialing in grip from alignment, spring rate and dampening not just relying on tire pressure adjustment for grip. I would love to see a video where you talk about those things! Awesome info here I love that you took the time to show each tire size and what makes them different.
Any thoughts on tire pressures and favoring rear grip? Recently ive been playing with higher front pressures on RSRs and really enjoyed how the car drives. Less front grip seems counterintuitive but works.
Usually 275/285 is the cutoff point in tire manufacturing where they add blocks to the tread pattern down the middle making it appear even bigger (even tho it did in fact get bigger as well)
@@FieldingShredder so for instance say you’re looking at tires like nittos or something and you check sizing, it’ll usually say in parenthesis (tires with 285 width or more introduce more tread pattern/blocks down the center of the contact patch)
Threadwear is not a universal unit. Every brand uses it differently to compare tires of their own lineup. Whats important for a long lasting tire is the material blend they use and the durometer test. Some 280tw tires may last longer than 460 threadwear tires of another brand. You really have to try a lot of them to figure out what works. Officer dan has a series on tire testing on youtube you should check it to see what brands are the best
the aspect ratio is the percentage of sidewall height versus overall width both are determined by the millimeters given, that is why all of these tires are similar widths because the aspect ratios are all different had the aspect ratios been the same, the widths and heights would vary to a slightly greater degree, i can tell you right now my P235/60r15 is nowhere looking as wide as those tires and a P275/60r15 on a 15X10 looks and is wider than a p295/50r15 on a 15X8 wheel rim except the sidewalls are bulging. that is why i am putting P295/50R15 on a 15X12 with the 275/60r15 being much taller.
I found out that the same size tire in a different brand my not be exactly the same size width according to the tape measure. Some tire companys measure the tread width in a different @t Michelin sport 4 s and Bridgestone S001 in a 295/35ZR20 are about a inch differant in width.
If you inflate a 265 tire to 100psi won't you be wearing the middle of the tire a lot faster than the entire width? Or does this not matter/happen when going sideways?
This was like an awkward class presentation the way it was so unedited and just filmed straight though lol. Should’ve edited it up:chopped it up and made it more appealing!
Rudy and Fielding can answer, but they both swear that their tire wear is way better with the 285, like double. I still haven't run any, but I want to.

That is really good info. Thanks. 245/40/18 is available with 180tw too
best tire out there! 400whp and these tires just keep giving more laps. So glad I bought into the hype :)
I still haven't been able to find 285s but the 275s on my 08 Mustang does amazing
your boi Rudy Martinez at texas tires and parts has them stacked up at his shop.
the 255 seems to have a wider patch then the 265 and 275.. Wish they would have measured for a complete comparison
Hey man, thanks for taking the time to do this! Much appreciated.
What about the corolla bois 195-55-15s how does that compare? 😆

Any suggestions on a 1973 Firebird with 17x9 wheels, wanting to use Mickey Thompson 275/40-17? Your thoughts?
When are we gonna get to measure the 255 and 265 on the “FD Official Measuring Tool” and see if the 265’s are legal within the tool lol.
Kenda are not legal to run in FD, as they do not pay FD as a sponsor to be an allowed tire.

Wow the more you know
Lone Star Drift is that really the case? Makes me even more disgusted with high level competitive drifting 🤢
Tires usually hit on the outer corners so if you just go a shorter tire you might still be able to keep the width you want.
Weird how the 265 and 275 look very similar in width, but the 285 looks much wider than the 275. Camera angle, or do they appear that way in person?
it seems like that in person for sure

Do most of the grassroots drifters run the 300tw for max life ? Or do a they go staggered 180tw up front and 300 out back like Feilding ?

my relative owns a car dealership and they have a big service department, I usually just grab whatever tires will fit

It will happen but the car rolls so youre still using the sides. Best bet is to rotate them once in a while to even the wear
Just don’t use insane tire pressures. If you need less grip, use a smaller tire or dial some grip out with suspension settings and alignment.
@@codenamecordon id rather run a 265 at 80psi than a 235 at 40psi
Fearless Drift 🤔 is the wear really better at such high pressures? Using very high pressures has mainly disintegrated tires for me so far 🤷♂️
@@codenamecordon have you used new tires? I know over inflated dry rotted tires will chunk appart but good new ones dont
This tyre might be good in this sizes.. but my smal car - found only 1 sizes in Kenda (195/55-15)..
Boy, if I could only calculate that without physically having all tyres... Oh wait... lol
lol right! I get how its hard to understand sometimes though, and the weight thing is interesting.

here is my question my tire size are 235/40R18 i m about to buy the 225/40ZR18 do you think the tire will fit in the rims with no problems
Question I have what would be the difference between 245/35 r18 vs 245/45 r18?
Just tire height
The 235s look the same width as the 245
Why does the 265 look wider than the 275?
I had no idea they made a 275 this year
Does anyone know if a 18x10 with 295/40/18 with a +22 offset will fit a stock suspension 2010 mustang gt on the rear?
Do you telling me all these tired no matter what fit the 18” rim
