      I grew up with her music after I had seen reruns of "Happy Days"! I used to have the soundtrack to this old 1980 Tim Curry movie called "Times Square", and it opened with a banger from Suzi called "Rock Hard"! I quickly searched for every album of hers I could find after that and am proud to say that I am one of those 80s babies that is a die hard Suzi Quatro fan!

      @caretaker158 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@williamshoven how are they "rip offs"?

    • @williamshoven
      @williamshoven 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@caretaker158 The same way they call Caribbean Queen by Billy Ocean a rip off of Billie Jean by Michael Jackson. The idea for these later songs came from this song. There's a song by Maxine Nightingale called, Lead Me On, every time i hear it, it reminds me of Samantha Sang Ft. The Bee Gees. I looked up that song and the writers of Lead Me On, says it was inspired by Emotions. The same way Pepsi is a rip off of Coke. Inspired is just a nice way of taking an idea and changing it a bit.

    • @caretaker158
      @caretaker158 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@williamshovenok, that's your opinion of what the definition of rip off versus inspiration is. Vanilla Ice's "Ice Ice Baby", definite rip off. Thinking of another song that is reminiscent of another, or is brought about by thinking of another song and taking it to another place, situation or circumstance, to me, is not. We're each entitled to think the way we do and that's all good. It's what makes the world go 'round. I totally agree on the Coke/Pepsi reference though!

    To see Suzi at her finest being the queen of rock you absolutely have to check out her song called "Lipstick" it is so awesome!

    Suzi Quatro was certainly the queen of rock. She also for me, had the prettiest smile and oozed sex appeal. "Devilgate Drive" is a banger and a must hear.

    Suzi is a great character and really set the stage for later female rockers. She occasionallly played Fonzi's love interest in Happy Days, which was a well known TV series, though that was well before your time. My favourite of hers is Your Mamma Won't Like me.... Also, Devil Gate Drive.

    • @pdoll96
      @pdoll96 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pinky was Fonzie’s love interest. Suzi played her younger sister Leather.

    • @ruthparker9756
      @ruthparker9756 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was actually Pinky, Leather's sister, that was Fonzi's love interest. I don't know why I felt the need to correct that 😅

    Smokey is worth a listen, very safe rock but good musicians, and as you can here the singer Chris Norman has a fine gravely voice. Quite a few hits in the UK(over a dozen), New Zealand, Australia and europe.

    Jay & Amber, you'll love her "Rock Hard", "If You Can't Give Me Love" and "Rock And Roll Hoochie Coo" !!! Those songs are bangers!!! Tina Weymouth of the Talking Heads has said she learned to play bass watching Suzi Quatro videos! edit- she's one of the earliest female rockers to sing AND play an instrument (after the band Fanny). Talon reminds me, Joan Jett got her look from Suzi!

    This song camecout when her record label was trying to bring her to more pop/rich sound rather than pure rocking sound. This was the same time she did a couple Happy Days episodes as Leather Tuscadero, the sister of Fonzie's one time girlfriend Pinky Tuscadero.

    The thing about Suzi Quatro is she was leading the way female rockers for almost a decade prior to Jett, Benatar, the Wilson sisters, etc. I love Joan, Pat, Anne and Nancy and have always thought of them as female rock pioneers. I feel I was cheated for 45 - 50 years. I remember this song from back in the day, but never heard of Suzi Quatro until you reacted to “Can the Can” a few months ago. She was born 1950 and raised Michigan. It blew my mind to find out she was a superstar in Europe after moving to London in 1971. I guess I missed those Happy Days episodes, or just thought she was another actress on the show, because I never heard one of her songs back then.
