- This week I've been living with the K-Rover/Amazon Prime Car. This new '25 Santa Fe is a great daily, and is (for the first time in Santa Fe history) exciting to look at!

Honestly, the 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid looks amazing! Love the sleek design and the hybrid powertrain is a solid choice for saving on gas while still getting good performance. Comparing it to the Toyota Highlander Hybrid, the Santa Fe feels more modern and has a better vibe with its tech and comfort. Both are cool cars, but the Santa Fe has that extra edge for me.😂
American highways driver's habits are a disaster.. exactly what you said.. people driving super slow in the left lane and flying in the right. And not sure how many other people have noticed lately tractor trailers been driving in the left lane most of the time.. sometimes two two of them next to each other slowing the entire traffic flow.
The left lane is the new right lane.
I have a 2024 Sonata hybrid, and I agree that it's a bit weird having the traditional transmission because you can actually hear and feel the gears shifting even when the engine is off.
@BrianEugeneLee-k2iwell why would he get the famously unreliable sonata from 10 years ago
Great video, I didn’t know that the Santa Fe has MagSafe that’s pretty cool.
Not to be that guy but it’s not MagSafe. It’s a magnet but not official MagSafe.
The Santa fe has won a ridiculous amount of awards, so many in fact TH-cam doesn't let me comment them. It's about 15 awards all saying "___ of the year", so it's crazy Hyundai managed to make such a good car that 15 different outlets (incluiding Charlie!) gave it car of the year. Pro tip, never buy first model year cars with DCTs. They always have issues.
Great video Chris 👋🏻
I've been seeing these around in person and honestly, they look pretty cool! Way better than the weird and ugly cyber truck.
Yeah, didn’t your friends over at car confections pretend that Hyundai was super easy to work with when giving back the vehicle, and then basically berate anyone who called them out for only getting that treatment for being a big car review channel. 😂
Their car wasn’t the hybrid. It was the regular 2.5T turbo model w the DCT
what's your point mate
@@GRamerDimThe hybrid isn’t a DCT like the gas version, so it doesn’t suffer from the same transmission issues.
If it has a DCT, it's junk.
@@GRamerDim it's open discourse, he's letting others know. Why are you taking it personal and making it about you?
I like the review since I have basically the same vehicle only in different colors. Well, I think it is a fantastic vehicle. Overall, it has disappointed me in a few areas:
1. The mileage has been nowhere near the EPA rating. I drive fairly conservatively and have never gotten over 30 mpg either in town or on the highway.
2. The forward attention warning (FAW) camera provides warnings if your eyes move off the road, even for just a few seconds. It also will not tolerate many types of sunglasses and will eventually shut off the cruise if the problem isn’t resolved.
There were several things in the review that were not accurate. The panels on the steering wheel do not change the gears of the transmission. They only changed the level of regenerative braking. Also, the special glove box with the UV light that disinfects things is only available in the calligraphy trim, as is the special handles that allow you to pull yourself up to the roof. There are 10 or 12 significant improvements in the calligraphy trim over the limited that justify the $5-6k bump in price.
Overall, the car drives beautifully and has luxury and features that would embarrass many vehicles in the $70-80k price range.
The paddles do change gears… you can see it in the video. Also per the Hyundai website the UVC sanitizer is standard on Limited.
You are correct on the C pillar assist handles only being available on Calligraphy.
Great review! I have a '24 hybrid limited... Fuel economy swings between 27 to 34 mpg, depending on outside temperature and driving habits. I think of it as comfortable and relatively fuel-efficient van.
Great review and video! I have owned a 2025 Santa Fe Calligraphy Hybrid in Rockwood Green and light beige interior for about a month now. So far, I love the way the vehicle rides. Very smooth and comfortable and around town (I live in Las Vegas, Nevada) I'm averaging about 33 to 34 MPG in ECO mode. On the highway at times, it drops to 28MPG. Like you mentioned, the interior is what sold me. It seems very roomy, and I love the tech features that are offered in this SUV. I looked at Toyota and Mazda, but the interior in those vehicles just seemed way to conservative and somewhat boring. The Santa Fe stood out and just looks different. That's what sold me in getting it.
I get around 40 MPG in my 2021 santafe hybrid in summer and around 32 MPG in winter. There is no issue with transmission. It has around 40k miles on it.
Great video!
It makes me feel a little funny... It's ugly, but I love it. Man this is weird! Thx for the review, Chris!
I saw the van today at the mall and looks impressive.
Looks super smooth
Only thing that seems weird to me is the lil circel camera when you chaning lanes ...
Um i will wait for the 2026 Palisade. That puts the SantaFe to shame.
Great review. What camera are you using for your POV shots and how are you mounting it?
This is such a good looking car with lots of bells and whistles…… but all my Hyundai owners say it’s a 4 month wait for repairs , tho cover by the extended warranty….. you need it for all the repairs and many of the repairs happen multiple times , my assistant teacher bought a $50,000 palisade that been back four times for the same problem , now she is trying to get them to buy it back because even under warranty, they don’t want to fix it anymore ..!!!!

Toyota: *laughs nervously*
How is the braking in this car? My parents have a 2024 limited hybrid and we all complain that the brake pedal bites way too much. There seems to always be a small amount of electric braking which makes it impossible to come to a smooth stop. Im curious if they changed this in the 2025 model year.
nice video
Wait is this the top of the Z lot? How weren’t you harassed by the “security”?
It's not magsafe wireless charging. It's literally just how they engineering the placement of the raised hump!
8:33, uhm, is it just me or is the white fusions front end touching the retaining wall?
It's definitely touching the wall.
that is absolutely touching 😭 can't believe I didn't notice
1:13 💯
Wow
1:48 I have a consistent fear that spiders would find their way into those grab handles.
2:54 surprised they went back to having an actual 12V battery. I like that my Ioniq Hybrid has it integrated into hybrid battery pack. One less thing to think about since I just press the 12V reset button to self jump my car if it does somehow die.
good point. or just… water? salt? etc. I hope they have good drains.
4:51 those air vents are in such a weird position. The C pillar would have been such a better place for them, I feel like it’ll just make the right or left side of your chest colder.
@@TopherDrivesconsidering the drains on the hatch of my Ioniq Hybrid are constantly getting caked with dirt and eventually mud… I’m a little doubtful lol. 3 years into it I’m still trying to figure out how to clean that space properly.
The rear end reminds me of an old Astro van...
Please do the new 4runner night drive pov
It's same system as lexus RX500h, 6at plus one motor, this system prioritizes sportiness over efficiency.
Still get good efficiency. Sienna/highlander only get 33. Ideally you want a Toyota system for best efficiency but Hyundai decided to go this route instead.
@@ayushmalpeddi2793 Highway gas milage is better than THS, because THS is designed for city cars, the weak point of this system is not so durable like THS.
Hyundai tried to make THS, but Toyota denied, so they had to choose go this route, same as european manufacturers.
People walking on the streets, omg, one could think it´s Europe. Nice.
50K in US???
My dad has a 2022 Santa Fe plug-in hybrid we’re pretty pleased with it for years into ownership and this is our third Hyundai within the last 18 years
Per 28° that’s not much better weather than New England has had recently
The steering wheel is a direct rip of the older 2018+ Velar/Range rover steering wheel. It’s an obvious copy but since that one is no longer in production, oh well.
from a distance at night I mistake these for Rivians
Those rear taillights are too close to the bumper for my liking.
My friend here in SB leased one of these in a similar color (not sure what the color code is). He calls it the "turdmobile." He hates it. It feels cheap (the interior looks expensive on the surface but feels cheap) . The engine already has a small oil leak and the dealer experience has been horrible. He is trying to get out if his lease. Caveat emptor. Hyundai/Kia products are total disposable transportation, IMHO.
Hyundai K-Rover is a way cooler sounding name than Santa Fe
Apparently the hybrid doesn’t use a DCT unlike the non-hybrid?
Correct. Regular 6 speed auto vs the 8 speed dct in the 2.5T
It doesn't. 6 speed auto. This hybrid drivetrain has been used for a few years and even in the last generation Santa Fe and it's quite reliable. No major complaints from people. 2.5T and DCT is the one you want to be careful with
Looks like it has a very slow steering rack.
Amazing presentation .
A LEGO with wheels that deconstructs after 60,000 miles.
It's an Hyundai at the end of the day though 😶
And that's a nice thing. Love Hyundai and Kia
And that's not an issue now, just avoid the first model year cars and you'll be fine
i thought you said you were going to shut up and let us listen😛
ha! well for a few seconds anyway. The winding road video will be up in a couple weeks :) link is in my description to that channel
If only range rover's had this nice of interiors.
they do, but how would you know
@@GRamerDim No they don't. They look like a 35000 dollar car but with a little more leather and massaging seats
I really want one of these, i'm single and live in a apartment but I travel a lot and up camping out in my car for the night more often than not when on the road for work (catching ferries is a pain). Also I've been wanting a truck cause hauling tools around in my car is really annoying but this seems perfect tbh. Also doesn't look like a work vehicle so won't get smashed and grabbed while grabbing a lunch at the grocery store lol.
Sounds like a perfect car for you tbh. If you can sleep in a Tuscon/RAV4/CRV/CX50/Forester hybrids those could be alternatives. Assuming your work stuff fits. Cheaper and smaller
I've seen this in person n idk why but it looks so weird like i cant even watch it
Its incredible how it looks amazing on the inside and so horrible on the outside
Rear end is atrocious. Rest of car is very nice.
UV phone sanitizer? What a waste of space and technology! If you are really gullible enough to believe that your own cell phone is going to make you sick, you have no clue how the human body works..... Why not have hand sanitizer squirt right out of the steering wheel😂😂😂😂
You can tell it was designed during the Rona age. Just a gimmicky feature, but I guess if you don’t care for it just use it as a normal storage cubby.
If cybertruck is the ugliest car I put this at #2 I see these on the road and it’s like congrats your driving a shipping container. Interior screams fake Range Rover. Why people enjoy driving these knock off cars that excel at nothing is beyond me yet Kia’s and Hyundai all over yuck
God this is one of the worst automotive designs ever conceived. 🤮
Yeah, I have a 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe blown transmission. They can’t fix it. They make you pay for the car anyway stay away.
Yours might be the no hybrid 2.5T w the DCT
The Hybrids don't have that issue.
Keep your hands out of the video!!!
would you prefer I drive with my feet? I’d have to put that behind a paywall
