Just a tip if you don't know, keep very slight pressure with your thumb as the spoon falls to keep the line taut and the spoon vertical so it'll drop faster. Let's you get down to the fish quicker than waiting for it to flutter.

Ahhhhhh, the Rez! Never gets old! Recognized the area at 8:00 mark. Down by the old dam. Use to do the same thing in that area as well, and in front of the dam, all the way across the lake. Using 10 inch worms and giant cow bell spinner baits slow rolled deep. They dont snag hardly at all. Thanks for another great video brother!🤟😜🎣🎣

Try vertically jigging right along side of the boat and just move with the trolling motor. It keeps the lure in the strike zone longer as compared to casting and then jigging. Just a thought.

  • @clamdiggerdan8581

Funny you said the spoons were tuna size baits.Being primarily a saltwater guy (I live on Long Island) you may want to try using the tandem single hook rigs we use on butterfly jigs for tuna and stuff.Ditch the bottom treble and attach these to the top of the spoon. You can get them from BPS Offshore angler catalog or most salty shops.I do love the sweet water stuff and you ,Ace and your friends have been a big help to me.Thanks. Would love to have you onboard someday to return the favor if you ever find yourself up in my area.

  • @MrLongboarder87

Sweet day on the water. We use spoons like that on the west coast for fish around the islands. Try two stingers rigged slow pitch style, have them sit about half way down the spoon. You’ll get better hook up ratio and because they are rigged independent of the spoon the have less of a chance of throwing the hook.

Rip the bait harder on the upward pull. They typically hit it on the flutter fall, so when you make the hard rip you get the auto pilot hook set. 👌

Mustard Tiger_0 dude mikey balzz is the shi*. He is my fav youtuber by far. I’ve learned more from his channel than all the other fishing channels combined. I dont know how he hasnt exploded, hes still at 40k subscribers. I guess its cuz he keeps it real and doesnt try to do a whole lot of clickbait. like i saw a vid titled “ INSANE fish caught, new PB!!!” On one youtubers channel, and it ends up being his pb pumpkin seed or some tiny panfish. But yeah mikey balzz is awesome, he teaches so much and has so much info and humor in his vids, Bog is awesome, etc. If anyone deserves to make a living from youtube vids, its him. 9 years on youtube, 40k subs, and he still has his dayjob?!? Ain’t right. His channel is badass and we as fishermen need to promote his channel and get him up to like 500k so he can do this for a living.

Late summer spoon fishing is absolutely dope. I too lost a bunch of fish at first, then I too rigged a stinger hook by watching how mikeybalzz did it. Once you start catching them like this, it’s one of the most fun ways to catch fish. It takes a while to get good at cuz its hard to tell bites with lethargic summer bass and all the erratic movement the spoon has anyways. I learned it over a weekend ledge fishing from a pedal drive kayak on a school I found on my fish finder at Kentucky lake, had a blast.

Ive been using big spoons for pike here in scandinavia, but I use braid and a 9 foot relativly soft rod. And then pay extreme attention to my rodtip and keep the line taught at all times and you will see and feel the litghtest of bites once you learned the "natural bounce" of the spoon or whatevver you wanna call the dance down to the bottom. Really fun lurens and tecnique :D

    Man that drt is SSssexyyy🤤
    Edit
Here’s a few tips for spoon fishing.
Never let slack in you’re line unless when it’s going to the bottom.
When you’re popping it and you hook one don’t let youre rod sit there and just let it bend,REEL!
When you feel the bite just set and make sure he’s there.
Always try smaller spoons(6-4 1/2 inch)
Try different techniques of poppin the spoon.
*(both hands below the reel.Using the shoulder.side **poppin.as** high as You can sometimes works better then just should poppin idk kinda weird.)*
    2nd edit
I use all these tips btw.
I’ve also noticed that the stinger hooks kinda effect the action.
Sometimes the fish don’t care but rather be safe then sorry.
