- Thanks for the patience on the upload guys, we'll probably be posting everyday for the rest of October and get back onto a 3-4 vid schedule for November. What rod and reel combo do you use for glidebaits
Depends on the size glidebait you're throwing. Personally, I'm going between my Dobyns 765Flip (7'6 MH-H) and my cashion musky rod (7'11 xh). Reels on each of those rods are a Shimano curado DC and a daiwa lexa 300 with 20 lb seaguar invizx on both reels. I don't throw really huge glides yet though.

Great video man, just a tip from a dude who almost only fishes swimbaits. Instead of setting the hook up and hard on those big glides try setting almost as if you were fishing a deep crank just a tip that will help your bite to catch ratio on the big swims
Definitely gonna give that a shot. I've been having this mental dilemma with myself about this exactly since summer. I've missed quite a few fish on glides because I feel like I'm literally pulling the bait away from them where as if I were sweeping (like a deep crank as you said) the chances of them holding onto the bait longer/getting hooks is higher. Gonna try that next time I'm out. Thanks for the tip Grant, really appreciate it dude.
@@SBFishing dude I totally get it don’t get me wrong your a hell of a fisherman, but the switch from conventional to swims is sooo different and those fish knock the crap out of a glide and the first instinct is to just rip em, but there is a ton of weight and power in your rod that you move when setting the hook on a glade therefor a sweep set is gonna be driving those hooks home. It’s all muscle memory and once you get it down you’ll be happy with the results keep on keeping on bro I love the swimbait content I’ll be posting some myself here soon👊🏻
I’m guilty of rocking their lights out but they pin up good lol. I also fish heavy hooks so kinda have too. Light wire hooks however.

They are pricey - totally agreed. There are some really good affordable glides and big baits out there that’ll work just as well. Doesn’t have to be custom! for some reason I see you giving up all the conventional gear and solely big bait fishing once the bug bites you 😂
