The winner of the recent poll on the channel was Fallout 4, so that is what I'll be playing next on the channel! I have never played any of the Fallout series before so this will be a blind playthrough. I'll record episodes of this and drop other bits of content in between, I hope you enjoy!

Hey everyone, before filming this I upgraded OBS (screen recorder) to the latest version and then just dived straight in. What I didn't realise was it's changed some settings in the new version. My audio and the game audio are normally set to record as 2 independent tracks. It's recorded it as 1 track when I recorded this. This means I can't split them and edit one independent of the other. Normally as part of my editing process, I polish up my audio (take out any background noise, button clicks, my chair moving etc). It means for this episode you've essentially got an unedited audio clip, annoyingly. Just wanted to flag it incase you notice and wonder why. I've corrected the settings already for when I do episode 8 🤘

That's mad, I missed the real age of smoking, I was just about the age to go out and drink here in the UK when the indoor smoking ban kicked in. All I remember was how bad everywhere smelt that first 12 months 😅. Don't remember people being able to smoke on trains, planes, workplace etc.
The right tool for the right job, .. I can't believe I'm going to have to suggest this. Using a 'sniper rifle' at close range isn't the correct tool. At 10-20 meters you should be using either the 10mm pistol or a shotgun.. preferably a Combat Shotgun. At 20-50 meters and up to 75 meters you should be using a Combat Rifle. From 75-200 meters the Sniper Rifle. Under 5 meters, Melee weapons, if you're concerned about ammo consumption. That group of Super Mutants was a prime target for a Frag Grenade, instead of the Sniper Rifle, use the advantages of clustered enemies to your advantage and Frag Out!
An ability of Glowing Ones is they can resurrect Ghouls you've already killed. If you noticed that glowing green wave it produced while it was below you, that's the trigger for the resurrection process. Had that Glowing One done that on the same floor as you, all of those Ghouls would have sprung back to life and you would have been massacred. Another good example too of when to Frag Out and bomb the bejesus out of them with Grenades, and Molotovs from the high ground.
Those Aluminum Containers you keep passing up are gold, Oil and Aluminum are two key resource materials you're going to need, and those containers are worth lugging out over the standard Gas Canisters, more Oil in them and Steel is too easy to come by to waste the inventory space on. Oil Canisters, Aluminum Canisters, Industrial Oil Canisters far exceed the normal resources collected from plain red Gas Canisters. If you use Power Armor the Aluminum is going to be a necessity for repairing and upgrading the Power Armor pieces with the Armorer Percs...
Those distress signals are all different parts of the BoS line, take the tapes and Halotags off of the fallen BoS recon team members as you find them.
Time for another tip/info dump:
When you have power armour equipped, you don't receive any bonuses from clothing or other armour that you're wearing.
Unfortunately dialogue is not Fallout 4's strongpoint. As you noticed in the video, your options consist of gaining more information, making a smart-ass (or sometimes dumb-ass) comment, saying yes, or saying no.
You can disarm the can chimes that you and Dogmeat keep walking into. Doing so makes a noise, but will not alert nearby enemies. Disarming them also gives a small amount of XP and adds tin cans to your inventory, which are a light-weight source of steel.
33:14 - You're being selective about what you pick up, except when it comes to double-barrel shotguns, which you seem to pick up all the time, and those things are heavy.
When you see an armour piece with a plus symbol (+), it means that one of the stats of that armour piece is better than what you have equipped. Raider armour has high ballistic, but low energy resistance. Leather armour has high energy, but low ballistic resistance. Metal armour is basically a better version of raider armour. Combat armour has equal ballistic and energy resistance. Synth armour is a more advanced version of leather armour. There are other armour types, but they only become available when certain DLC content has been started.
Cafeteria trays contain plastic. TV Dinner trays contain aluminium (or aluminum).
There are no perk magazines or bobbleheads in College Square, although there are notes which will mark locations on your map. Check the news stands/kiosks.
There is one more feral ghoul in College Square. I'm not going to say where it is, except that it is seeking 'shelter.' Chances are that it is a Legendary feral ghoul.
1:15:47 - Boosting your Intelligence to hack terminals only worked in previous Fallout games. In Fallout 4, if you don't have the appropriate perk, or a password, you can't access the terminal.
Picking up a weapon, or looting it from the corpse of an enemy you were in combat with, will usually provide extra ammo for that weapon type. Just remember to drop the weapons after you loot them, so you don't become over-encumbered.
When power armour locations turn red on the HUD, it means they are close to breaking. It's only when they turn black does it mean they are broken.
When it comes to the factions the player is allowed to join, you can join one of them, some of them, or all of them if you want to. However, there will come a point in the main story where you have to choose a 'side,' where one or more factions will become enemies. The Minutemen are the only neutral faction, and can work alongside all the factions - or not. The choice is yours.
You sold Combat Shotguns to Carla. Combat shotguns are far superior than double barrel shotguns.
Don't sell Jet until you have combined it with either Psycho or Buffout, which you can then sell for a higher price. The same goes for raw meat. Cook it first, you'll get some XP, and you'll be able to sell it for a higher price.
The Pocketed modification on a piece of chest armour provides an additional 10 carry weight, and 5 carry weight on limb pieces. Deep Pocketed doubles these values.
I'm curious as to why you're keeping the laser musket, when you don't use it. Laser muskets have a high one-shot damage, but a very slow fire rate and they can potentially use a lot of ammo per shot, which is really annoying if you miss the target. Laser muskets also have very limited customisation options. I recommend upgrading Righteous Authority, as that is a very good weapon, and as a standard laser weapon, it has a ridiculous amount of potential modifications.
2:12:15 - The Raider had a Combat Rifle, which you didn't loot. Combat rifles are powerful mid-game weapons, and while the Plasma-Infused pipe rifle is doing a good job, an upgraded combat rifle is better.

I rarely wear power armor but if I do, I try to find the highest place possible to jump from, it is exhilarating, also, if you go into sneak mode real quick for a sniper shot, you can usually get a lot of bonus damage. Thanks for the upload, you are doing great, and as long as you are enjoying it, you are playing it the right way

Not sure if you figured it out or if anyone has told you, but if you enter a suit of power armor and then exit it there will be an icon on your pipboy map of where the last set of armor you entered is... Quite helpful if you want to come back to the armor at a later date.
It only marks the last entered suit though, so if you were to do what I did during my first power armour play and jump in a suit to mark it for retrieval then hop back in mine it wipes the marked one off.
If you have any human follows you can remove the fusion core and using the talk option (Y on controller) you can tell then to enter and then use them to bring it back, you just need to go through the same option to ask then to exit it.
Thanks a lot! Annoyingly I had the location of one marked that was locked behind a terminal I couldn't access at the time, but I accidently wiped it yesterday by placing a new marker. I should have gone and got it before now, but its okay as I can just look at an earlier video to see where the marker was.

@mike-thegamingdad Your marker was just west of Lexington in a railway carriage.
If you zoom in on your map there are 3 dark patches (probably water) the marker was more or less between the top two.

Oddly enough there isn't either a magazine or bobblehead in College Square, lots of junk items and ammo but thats about it. If you are a 'collector' then you will want to recheck the police station further along the play through. You also mentioned about Overdue Books in your last video, again if you are a 'collector' then you will only really need to get 10 of them for the book tokens you will need. (I don't want to give to much away)

I noticed a new video was uploaded, so as soon as I got off work I grabbed a cup of coffee and sat down to watch your playthrough. You're the second player in a row that I've seen get past those synths with Danse without firing up the laser machine. But you got through it and that's all that matters. Ghouls are very vulnerable to leg damage. You cripple their leg and they can't move anymore

At this point BoS mission are just radiant quests with random locations, so feel free to take them up. BUT keep in mind, they may target location outside fo commonwealth if you have Far harbor and Nuka World installed.

Glad its apparent im getting a bit better at it. I wasn't lying when I said I was completely new to the FO world 🤣. It feels a lot more natural now than it did the first first few episodes, where the controller just left completely alien in my hand. I was having to think about every button press, which was quite unnerving when I knew I recording this for anyone to watch 🤣. I'll be doing more of this definitely, this week has been a bit hectic but I'll get episodes 9 and 10 done early next week
If you go up in Sneak Perks you wont sett off floor mines. I am tired so I will continue watching this stream tomorrow.

When power armor part is RED it's still functional, but close to breaking point. You lose it only when it turns transparent.

Watched this in segments over last two days. Just like all your FO4 videos, I really enjoyed this episode.
If you're interested, you can move your favorite weapons/armor to the top of your inventory list. Just rename them at workbenches with a character at the front of the name.
Also, before unloading junk/gear at a settlement, you might consider fast traveling to the Diamond City marketplace where you'll have access to more merchants.
More on renaming items...You can use numbers instead of characters, in case you want them listed in a particular order. The listing order goes characters / numbers / alphabet.

Now that you've met both of them - there's a silly joke mod on the Nexus that turns Danse into Buzz Lightyear, and Preston into Woody. I've not used it in my own playthroughs, but it's still left such an indelible mark on my psyche that I can't look at either of them anymore without occasionally imagining them in their Toy Story outfits 😂 worth a quick Google for the images at some point, if you're up for a laugh!

I always found a container or something that I could dump off extra stuff into. Then after I had returned home and dropped off all the stuff I had, I would fast travel back and pick up what I had drpped in a container.
1:52:31 when in doubt buy ammo, even if it's not something you currently use, you might later. If you're not playing on survival ammo is weightless so loading up doesn't hurt. My current game I'm toting around thousands of rounds of ammo in types I don't use (but might later).
Isn't there something about 11% on the fusion cores to sell them at that percentage?
I don't really use power armor.
@@wesss9353 I didn't know if there's a specific number, but I've Heard that they sell for Max value even at low power levels. Like you I don't really use power armor. Only when needed like for radiation protection. I prefer the sneaky VATS sniper life.

Oh good, now I don't have to type out a long dissertation on the benefits of using semi-auto loading firearms vs. double barrel shotguns.
In case you haven't heard this already, tap your VATS key when you're inundated with mines. As it will show up mines you can't necessarily find in plain view. Also, if you don't already know, you can sneak up on mines and disable them and collect them for future use. I don't know what keys or buttons you use to do this. But it's doable.
The BOS really get my goat. Danse tells you snootily that he needs allies not opportunists but the BOS make it clear they wont help the settlers at all! He’s the opportunist if you ask me!
Just an fyi on Aluminium, it was discovered by a Dutch guy in early 1800s about 30 years later an American guy started producing alloy and the name was misspelled as Aluminum. So strictly speaking the Brits don’t add the extra syllable , the Americans removed one for simplicity sake 🤟🏻

The video sounds great. One tip: If you leave power armour somewhere, take the keys with you (fusion core). The NPCs get uppity and take them.

1:00:00 , yup lol. I was literally thinking that as you said it. You can opt to transfer an item into the suit, instead of just hitting the " enter suit " option, so you always want to use your lowest core. Problem is that when it runs out, and you are still in the suit, it auto takes the next FULL core. The solution I came up with is fairly anal but I take all the full cores out of my inventory and that allows you to use up the ones that are half full or whatever.

Make Squirrel Stew. It requires Dirty Water. Gives you a 2% XP bonus. I always keep 2 or 3 Squirrel Stew on me. Also, maxing your intelligence level increases your leveling. Also, having dirty water in your workshop inhibits purified water production. So always remove any kind of water and store it in other containers. Basically, for all intense and purposes you have to remove any kind of water from your workshop (including dirty water) and store it in other containers if you want more purified water to spawn.
You need a "junk box" man. So you can store useless armor and weapons. Then when Carla shows up you can load up everything in that junkbox and sell it. Also load up on purified water. When she shows up you can buy shipments of stuff from her and trade out all the weaps, armor and water to her. Including releaving her of all her caps and increasing your own caps. You do it right you'll always have more caps then you started out with in any vendor. The big trick is making a lot of purified water. Which means you have to harvest it from the workshops on occasion and store it in separate containers other than the workshop as workshops only spawn so much water based on production. So you remove it and store it in another container so more water is produced. After a while you have a few thousand and can trade water for anything you want. BUT you have to have the strongback perk to do it proper and be able to fast-travel to other settlements like Diamond City.
The hacking goes by the placement of the letters in the word. For instance you got 0 placements for "sense" where the second letter is an "e". Then your third guess was "beast" which also has an "e" for the second letter. So there is no way after picking "sense" that the password could have an "e" as the second letter. I hope that makes sense. No pun intended.

Hi mike you can join all factions, until you get to certain point in the game which will be obvious,also the lighter your weapons and armour are the more action points you will have.Putting more points in agility will give you more action points.The lonewander perk dosent effect dogmeat if he is with you also you can rename weapons and armour i normally put a comma at the front so all your stuff will be at the top of the list when you go into the inventory i aslo name my charisma as formal as you will get a formal hat at some point which has a plus 2 tp charisma

Some excellent junk locations found in this one and you found the BOS! IMO you were right in doing the one mission with Danse. He gives you an excellent weapon, especially when you have the Perks to modify, plus it makes them friendly before actually joining their faction. Speaking of Perks, you’ll want to add one to Hacker if you want to get in to higher level terminals. Dr-gs nor clothing will do it for you. Hopefully not a spoiler, but Valentine can hack higher level terminals for you when he’s a follower. Helps you put Perk points in more pressing things in early game. 😃

That plasma infused legendary pipe rifle actually seems like a decent effective weapon for now. Should save you some caps as ammo is cheap and easy to come by across the commonwealth.
As youve invested points into rifleman, your damage would increase per bullet fired if you changed it to a bolt action/single shot variant instead of automatic firing. Or spend a point in commando to increase your automatic weapon damage.
Yeah the effect seems good, it's turned quite a few enemies into goo in the latest episode I filmed yesterday. I'll likely flick around with weapons I think, with it being my first time. I'll stick mostly to rifles, but want to try out most stuff. I've still not used any heavy weaponry yet but I've found a few rocket launchers and mini nukes and stuff. I might go with commando and stick with it being an auto weapon. I like the pipe weapon being an automatic as that type is so common when I was using single shot weapons I couldn't get through it all 🤣
@mike-thegamingdad yea I think it's a 20% damage boost for every point you put into commando so definelty worth doing.
And heavy weapons can be fun!

I've never been a great shot, one of the reasons why I'm not a fan of FPS games. I sucked at Counter Strike back in the day, so I never bothered with COD online or Fortnite 😅

Doing a new playthrough now, gotta be my tenth at this point. First time running the sim settlements 2 mod though. Would reccomend the K-9 tactical vest mod if you like travelling with dog meat. Makes it more lore friendly to me if he's carrying my stuff that I craft him a vest with actual pockets lol. Like where am I shoving that minigun again? Plus he looks cool and more armor never hurts. Loving the FO4 vids 👍

You can play any radiostation in the game except for diamond city radio because of copyright issues
If you see a modded gun? Pick it up ... break it down in your weapons workbench ... you might like to have the mods later and they get stored
Tired of your inventory getting full? If you find a new settlement link it up with your main settlement and drop of as much as you can
The laser rifle called 'righteous authority' is a damn good weapon and you can mod it waaaaay up making it up there with the strongest weapons in the game. You might want to keep some of those laser rifles for your settlers because they are a high tier weapon.
Keep in mind that brotherhood of steel (BOS) is only one of the factions you can ally in this game . As is minuteman ... there are more but they are not exactly friendly to one another .Without spoiling there will be a point where doing a mission for one will fail a mission for the other or even make it so the other faction will be out to kill you. But thats way further on in the game. Just dont go all in halfcocked in a factions mission line too far before you piss of the other.
Oh and in your main settlement? Put up the booblehead stand and magazine stands ... so you can display them + they still give you the benefits meaning you can't dump them by accident

BTW paladin dance is a powerful ally keep him as a friend always (I won't spoil why but there is a secret sidemission about him near end game ... and in my eyes it adds to a "good ending")

Use your vats more mate. I use mine all the time walking around clicking it you'll see mines and enemies before you actually clock them.
Yeah its very helpful for mines, I've done that a few times recently and managed to disarm them before I stand on them 🤣
Yeah, the Minutemen is the best playthrough (IMHO). There's a "trick" you can do to maintain the peace between the factions (excluding the Institute) but it's tricky and you have to know about it beforehand. Regardless, the outcome depends on which faction you follow thru with the most. Regardless of the ultimate "yes/no" conversations you have to pick the faction you want to end this primary quest with. Be careful in this regard.

You should activate the robots. Just choose wisely. I think the weapons have ammo in them, so when you pick them up you get that ammo. If you don't use it you can sell it.

Righteous Authority's got nothing over the Overseer's Guardian with max rifleman perks (non-automatic) and gun-nut perks (from Vauilt 81). Sorry, I"m not letting it go. You need that friggin' gun. I go for that one over all others start of any play-through. I do "non-automatic" these days as I've done so many play-throughs that I only do survival mode. Just a tip: if you enter a power armour and exit it, it will show on your map. Essentially the last power armour you enter will be marked on your map, so if you find one in the wild and would like to basically mark it, enter it and exit and it’ll be shown. Entertaining another power armour will replace the marker with the latest power armour entered. Always take the fusion core regardless and you can jump from any height in power armour with no damage. You can just jump off that overpass.

At this terminal there’s a holotape on the desk. I’m only saying because if the building respawns you’ll have to fight through it again. If you don’t want tips like that (you missing something) just say and I won’t mention anything.
No please do tell me as I'll go back round off camera and pick stuff up. There's so much to look out for I'm bound to miss something. People keep telling me I'm not thorough enough but I feel like if I spend anymore time searching around I'll get nothing done per episode. I was conscious of how long I was searching around the police station, hence the reason why I didn't go into the town where the houses were. I'd already spent about 40 minutes going door to door and wanting to get the mission moving

Yeah there’s a fine line between being thorough and moving the game forward. Honestly, if I was you, I’d go to the Fallout Wiki (Fallout Fandom I think it’s called) and just type in the name of the place you’ve just visited. You obviously already cleared the building and seen what is there so no spoilers. That site has a section called “notable loot” for the location you’re searching for. You can just scroll to that and go back and clean up off camera. Then just mention it next episode. Love the content, cheers mate.

I did reply earlier but for some reason it got wiped. Honestly, I’d look at a guide AFTER you’ve cleared an area. If you’ve already cleared it there’s nothing for you to spoil then. You can find one that just tells you what notable loot is in any particular building. Saves the building respawning enemies and you having to clear the place again.

Make sure you do the railroad missions and get ballistic weave. It is the best armor in the game

Hey Mike you really want that spray’n pray next time you see cricket just click on the weapon and balance out the amount with the stuff you have with you we all know you have enough with you if you are looking for her she always spawns in front of vault 81 if she is not there sit down and fast forward time a day and keep up cleaning out the commonwealth in your case one way or the other

A hint for hacking terminals, didn't look like you were using it.
Look for anything in closed brackets. Selecting/clicking those will either remove duds or give you back your hack attempts.
I usually try a few guesses and then go for the dud removal.
Also, Malden Middle school - you can come away with some good gear.

Fusion Core management is a bit annoying. If you insert a core automatically, it'll always pick the top one - i.e. a fully-changed core. It's better to insert the core manually vi TRANSFER button. That way you can chose which core you want to use.

You were supposed to sart the engine - it leads toa funn scene with Danse. But no worries.

@mike-thegamingdad this quest opens an exploit. If you just stand hidden near the button to start the engine, Danse will keep fragging the synths that teleport in infinity and you keep getting xp.
Save your bullets and use a melee option for the feral ghouls. Unless its one of the really hard to kill ones, which you may not run into for a bit. Baseball bat, super sledge, all sorts of good melee options.
Unless a player has invested into melee perks, I wouldn't recommend engaging feral ghouls in melee combat. They have a faster attack speed than the player, and you can be quickly swarmed by several ferals. It's much easier to use either an automatic weapon or 10mm pistol to take out their legs.
@erwinzyx yeah I was trying to aim for the legs initially in the square and then the police station, but then it sort of got a bit chaotic and it was just shoot anything that moves 🤣

Get some squirrel bits and cook some squirrel stew. It gives you a 10 or 15 percent boost to your XP gain for a real world hour or something like that. Cook half a dozen of them and chow em every hour.

It’s actually 2% for two real hours. Not spectacular but I suppose it’ll add up. I play on survival so little gains like that are critical.

I had real high hopes for my Last Of Us series, as I timed it at the 10 year anniversary last year (when it was finally released on PC, also the show was on tv) but it fell completely flat. I've played that game before so I did it in the style of a trophy guide. All collectibles, optional convos etc annotated in the video.
I'll eventually do the 2nd when that is released on PC but I've not played that before so may not be able to do it in the same style

you might want to wait until your dog gets out of the way, before...before you shoot the ghouls. really. Other than that , good video. you are one of the FEW...few "let's play.." -ers that actually sues the gun/weapon and armor workshop tables, to upgrade and fix your guns and armor...seriously! I do love the game. for me, the only drawback is the nagging alerts and responsibility of actually building up settlements and upgrading them. Why make us do that? why can't the NPCs upgrade their own new fortresses or buildings. Its time consuming GATHERING all the junk for upgrading a settlement or village...really it is. Didn't have to do that in FAllout 3 or Fallout New Vegas.
I don't mind the settlement side of it, but then again I'm completely new to the fallout franchise. It would be nice if settlers actually made improvements themselves as well. I mean they are always hammering, yet never build anything 😅

I do yeah, I've got extra building materials and stuff which I've used, but I'm told some of the DLCs like Far Harbor don't open up till later on

Enjoying the episodes! But I have to say this one seemed rushed and seemed you really didn't take the time to investigate/loot, etc like you normally do. You sold 2 combat shotguns to Carla without even really paying mind to it which is far superior to the double barrel u currently have..arc jet last room before you exited has a huge steamer trunk of loot, u just walked into the room and right to the elevator not even really looking at anything, just some examples. I haven't seen you really do in past episodes that's why I'm bringing it up. Content is great, don't get me wrong! Take your time, enjoy it! Felt this was rushed unlike all the others.
