I don’t even know what the front end looks like or why you’d bother having an account. I know why it’s owners want you. It’s surveillance and intelligence gathering, plus targeted advertising and propagandising you.
I found 7 adverts for the same campervan but in different locations and by different sellers on FB market place . I reported them all to FB who did nothing about them. FB and TH-cam are a wash with scams and its time they were held responsible
Not the same amount of money, but folding campers on eBay were a pick for the same game. Numerous campers "Located" in Scotland where all they wanted was the money, and they would get it delivered to you for less than the cost of your fuel to go up. All prime BS, of course. I used to moderate on a site and ending up partnering up with someone from a different site, and it became an informal completion to see who could find the most bent adverts and tell eBay. Don't know if you can do it on Bing, but you could do picture searches on Google and the amount of pictures that were used in multiple adverts was unbelievable.
I sell vehicles on fb market place and all ways looking at stuff for sale. The best is the same description for multiple cars and each car is in 4 or 5 different locations.
For years I have thought that Christmas is the time to be stressed and grumpy. I find it amusing how people are rushing around and most of them don’t seem at all happy. I avoid going out as much as possible the last few days before Christmas because of the insanity and if I do have to go out for something I leave myself plenty of time. I’m don’t do the commercialized version of Christmas so mine are usually pretty laid back and enjoyable with the main goal being to get around to see people and get as many free meals as possible. 😊
Valuable information Geoff, a lot of people might still not be aware of those threads, so it can't be mentioned too often. Merry christmas to you and your family and all the others who watched this video.
All tax.. it's all usury which has never been "legal" Governments are an extortion racket.. giving the illusion they're spending it all on things that benefit you.. money laundering by any chance??
Met loads of great folks buying through the years, you get a gut feeling, if it does not feel right, it ain't right. Don't be greedy, if it's too good to be true, it is.
I sold a car on Auto trader and was later sent a fine for a fuel drive off 150 miles away. The CCTV stills showed the same make and colour car showing my reg No, which I concluded was down to someone looking through the listings for the appropriate car/colour combo with pics showing the reg. So there is a reason not to show the reg on an advert and I won't be doing it again.
We often get caught by greed. If you go for a massive bargain, you’re basically prepared to rip the seller off. I know people that once they get their hands on the item, and actually see that it truly is a super bargain, they’re prepared to pay more saying it’s worth more….yet still walk away with a good deal. Win win! I also know people that will take a lower price if things go to a better home. I also know people that will pay more than it’s worth when they see the seller’s trying to make an honest buck and clearly needs the money. Find some good friends. Be a good friend X
Geoff, I'm still giggling at your arrival at Shuttleworth in anticipation of some great history...and you spot a Kia Magentis...have a word with yourself! 😂😂
I don't use any social media apart from twitter/X for news on StJohnstone FC, Calmac Ferries, Minnesota Vikings and that's it. Agree about Eddie Izzard Merry Christmas Geoff, Mrs Geoff and Little Geoff
Im nearly 60 and have had dozens of cars and bikes, nearly all bought privately. Always see the vehicle in the flesh before any money changes hands. Also, you can guage a vehicle by the owner and thats who your buying from. 20yrs in sales taught me people buy off people. Theres also a certain demographic I wouldnt buy from.
I have never gotten scammed on Facebook, but 30yrs ago I bought and car and was given the wrong title. Same year make and model, different VIN. No I double check the VIN on the title and the car.
This does highlight for me that the UK used to be a trust based society, unfortunately 'progress' has not only undermined that, it has forced us into into a distrust and almost tribal mindset it is particularly jarring for me to make this association with you're post on Christmas eve, anyway good will to all men and good tiding's reader
I had a scammer try the 2nd one, the deposit scam last month but it was on buying a horse for my daughter. He wanted the deposit paid by bank transfer or paypal using friends and family. My reply was FRO.
A work colleague of mine years ago paid £5000 for a non existent camper van which was advertised for sale in Scotland. He even drove to Scotland looking for it. I shook my head in disbelief when he told me.
Hi geoff, worked for a co that had ford & toyota dealerships in north east england in the early 90s, local old couple test drove unregistered corolla diesel on trade plates, parked it round back at workshops, went to showroom talked to salesman & then left to go home & consider deal, car disappeared (keys left in ignition) was spotted 30 miles away in city by police next day but got away, still on trade plates no registration plates as factory new, found next day in car park locked no damage no trade plates, theives dumped it after spending 2 days trying to sell it but couldnt because it was one of the first corolla diesels in the uk 🤣🤣🤣
Absolutely Geoff, we all think we're invincible to scams but we all know someone who's been scammed who you'd never think would fall for it. I test drove a range rover once (only once, didn't buy it haha 😂) and saw the very expensive range rover next to that one I tested, with the doors unlocked and the keys on the passenger seat. Anyone could have nicked it 😂
The greedy scammers are bleedin obvious sometimes......... They have multiple car or parts listings One clue......... Look at the background in the photos, because the scammers steal other seller's photos, so the walls, floors fences & locations will be random. Most genuine sellers use the same area to take photos so there will be a consistency throughout their listings. On multiple scam listings the colour, focus and general angles will be random also. Take care out there. I always call seller's direct. Scammers don't like speaking for real. ⚠️
Christmas is for giving. I tried to give a bloke my space in the shop queue today, it went back & forth for a bit as he graciously accepted that my carol singing stormtrooper T-shirt out trumped his raindear pullover. Merry Christmas.
Happy Christmas eve, day and boxing day, loved the previous Lakes Volvo graveyard video my kinda heven too! Lots of 850 bits here still if you need, maybe interested in a swap for your d5 for my v70 can provide details if interested. Happy Geoff Holiday!
There are members in some of the groups I'm in and they post warnings about their cars/photos about people trying scamming. Have a good Christmas Geoff, hope you take a bit of a break 👍
It’s so annoying some scammers use the same photos for the same items. It’s go well bad in the last few years. Many of my vehicle purchases and sales have been on facebook marketplace
My wife shakes her head when I'm driving and suddenly say things like, Ooh there's a Nissan QX over there, then proceed to rabble on about V 6 engines and car interiors from the 90s lol
Dont hate any of your cars. Personally I admire your dedication to the Merc. However you cant keep them all. I would lose the Rover 75, the Punto, the Merc (sad I Know), the Alfa, the newer mini as a stst !
The easiest way to not get fakebook scams... Is not have fakebook..
Boom 👊
nailed it👍
I was about to say the same thing! 😂
I don’t even know what the front end looks like or why you’d bother having an account. I know why it’s owners want you. It’s surveillance and intelligence gathering, plus targeted advertising and propagandising you.
Exactly, cannot stand FB, it's for people to show off or get sympathy. Or get ripped off.
I always buy my cars sight unseen from Nigerian princes. Can’t wait for the day all the cars arrive on a boat .
BEV of course😂
ha ha🤣
I left Kidderminster when Robert Plant was still driving a pink Cadillac around Wolverley
Your more likely to get the Nigerian princes on the boat rather than the cars ! 😂
we must have the same unclew

Thanks Geoff for letting people know, never give any money for anything till its in your hand .
I know someone who fell for the 'does it drive ok?' scam. Be extra cautious if they offer delivery! 😂😂😂
Remember the old candid camera classics pushing or rolling a car into a petrol station with no engine, 😂
Geoff mate 😂 that phone jacker thumbnail is top 😂
Don't use Facebook. Simples.😂😂😂
Never have, never will 😊
Why? Many bargains to be had. Don’t use Facebook...if you’re dumb? 👍
Like Christmas lights, string them along 🤣

So you're a self centred sort. Good on ya. That's what Christmas is all about. You.
The three scams of christmas. Thanks for the heads up about Kidderminster being the new Beirut.
Valuable information Geoff, a lot of people might still not be aware of those threads, so it can't be mentioned too often. Merry christmas to you and your family and all the others who watched this video.
Facebook . The face of scammers
Facecrook!
Merry Christmas to the Geoff family, and a big thank you for all your great shows this year❤
If these scammers put as much effort into doing something honest, they'd end up making more money. Sad the way some people behave these days.
Scammers? You mean like the city hall council tax scam?
All tax.. it's all usury which has never been "legal"
Governments are an extortion racket.. giving the illusion they're spending it all on things that benefit you.. money laundering by any chance??
No the ULEZ scam run by you know who!
Met loads of great folks buying through the years, you get a gut feeling, if it does not feel right, it ain't right. Don't be greedy, if it's too good to be true, it is.

I love the breath of human behaviour that is covered on this channel. From the altruistic to the narcisistic.
Just be kind... always, people.
How to avoid facebook scams! Simple delete facebook!! 😉

Great video Geoff..you need to do more of these type videos. Thank you.
Be nice and don’t scam anyone, particularly in Kidderminster! Nice Jeff!
'Unless the username is Geoff Thompson' 🤣👍
Don't support facebook. Problem averted.
I don't use any social media apart from twitter/X for news on StJohnstone FC, Calmac Ferries, Minnesota Vikings and that's it.
Agree about Eddie Izzard
Merry Christmas Geoff, Mrs Geoff and Little Geoff
Thanks for the heads-up on all these scams....
Top scam of the year… Labour Party!!! Merry Christmas Geoff great channel 👍👍👍👍👍
More likely to be Reform. Fromage is the biggest scam ever!
Good advice Geoff. Always be careful and trust your instincts. I have a good antennae and can suss out dodgy people. 👍
Hope you didn't vote Labour😂

Yep. Had that with my CRV a few weeks back, and told them to jog on. I said it was their responsibility for a data check, not mine.
You missed out Brighton Geoff..Happy Christmas Dude

Batley, Bramley, Bramhope, Bradford.
Merry Christmas Geoff & Family!
Was it a Bathurst 500 in black ❤um
A reason why you might NOT display the plate in you ad is that the plate can get cloned and used in a robbery.
Merry Christmas Geoff and Family 😊
MERRY CHRISTMAS Geoff and all.

my pet hate...imported from the USA.

The vast majority of people are good and honest.
Merry Christmas Geoff

Autotrader and Ebay to bloody loads on there how do Autotrader/Ebay let this happen? its crazy 😠
There are good people, but not from b, yes we get it , merry Christmas 😉
Sherry? What time do you do you’re knitting? 🤣
I've sold a car and bought a motorbike, both on facebook. The bike was quite amusing, as the seller turned out to be a legit real policeman.
I get the first two, but is, Bristol ok?
Thank you mate
Merry Xmas to the family, yourself and all the followers. Keep safe 🍾🍻
Dont hate any of your cars. Personally I admire your dedication to the Merc. However you cant keep them all. I would lose the Rover 75, the Punto, the Merc (sad I Know), the Alfa, the newer mini as a stst !
This was for Furious Driving.........
..the Aluminium Rule: Do Unto Others, As You'd Have Done To You. Merry Christmas. Strength! GODspeed!
A great way to put buyers off is to blank out the registration on the pictures!
Beginning with " B " Bridgnorth, Bridgend 😊
the last three cars I owned were bought from FB Marketplace, thankfully no issues.
Does that include Basildon? My home town, and it's dodgy as f**k 😂
