  • I'm using the Korg Nanokontrol 2 in Logic Pro on a daily basis. Unfortunately some faders of my beloved Korg Nanokontrol 2 were about to give up so I needed a new one. In this video I will show you how to set up the Korg NanoKontrol 2 in Logic Pro the way I need it to work: as full DAW control (Play, Stop, Record, Next-Previous Track) and as CC control (Modulation, Expression, Vibrato....). There is even a little trick how you can really get out the maximum of it.
    Hope it helps, and if it does, please subscribe to my channel, I'll make more of these in the future :)

    I would like to add that I prefer sliders for expression and knobs for detailed work.

      That's an interesting approach. I normally use faders for expression and modulation and the knobs more for things like filters or volume, but I might give it a try too for more detailed work. Thanks for the tip

      @@MartinHeidenreichMusic thank you for the excellent video!
      I find that filter work is expressive as it's more linear, you can play with it more I find & when you want to play with 3 controls at the same time you can. cutoff, res, decay env amount! you can! Love it!
      I like knobs for fine tuning & doing delicate work.
      I always find I have a sweet spot with a knob & that does not always match up with the sweet spot of the filter.
      I hope you like the work flow!
      Thanks again

    Hi, thank you for your video, Martin. I am considering getting one of these. I am on Logic, and have bought a few sample libraries and would like to use them to their full potential. I am, however, a Midiot, and am really unsure how to proceed. My keyboard is a Komplete Kontrol mkII which is plugged into a powered usb hub. Works fine. However, the KK keys don''t have sliders.
    Som my questions would be:
    I just plug the Korg into my powered hub? Launch Logic, and it will be seen? I don't need some adapter to put it through the Komplete Kontrol keys with midi through or anything like that?
    Is the size of the faders an issue?
    Thanks for your time!
    PaA

    • @MartinHeidenreichMusic
      @MartinHeidenreichMusic  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      For sure the Korg Nanokontrol is a handy little tool. For me the size of the faders isn't an issue, if I need to finetune something after recording I use the pianoroll anyhow. And yes, you just plug it into your USB Hub. The faders might work right away, not sure about the buttons (Play, Stop, Record....) but just watch the video again then to learn how to assign them. Wishing you best of luck and lots of fun with your Nanokontrol

      I had the same problem to. The Company Korg didn't update their software yet for OS Big Sur. The installation of the software worked but I couldn't type anything in to assign cc values... I have a solution, but it was kinda of painfull since it took me a whole day to do it: I downgraded back to Catalina. There are many tutorials on TH-cam how to do that. All the best brother.

    • @MartinHeidenreichMusic
      @MartinHeidenreichMusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Tobias, true, since Big Sur it is difficult to digit in the numbers for the CC values (as you can see in the video, just compare it to my older one, with Catalina it worked just great) but it is still possible.

      I used to have a nanoKontrol 2, but it was lost in a move to a new house in 2017. If I remember correctly, you can switch individual buttons and/or faders to control CC via the Korg Kontrol Editor, then save that setup as a new scene. Then load that scene into your nanoKontrol 2 and you should be able to control mix automation and CC automation within the same scene.
      I'm just trying to help, so I apologize in advance if I'm recalling this information incorrectly!
