- If you combine the run and gun style of Metal Slug and combine it with the tactical, turn based strategy gameplay of Into The Breach, you would be left with Metal Slug Tactics. A modern take on the Metal Slug franchise that sees it move away from the only genre it has known since the 90’s with the exception of some mobile spin offs. Similar to how every game eventually embraced RPG elements, Metal Slug Tactics is embracing roguelite elements that stay true to the series roots of dying often and restarting levels.

Metal Slug has a bunch of lore and I hope they use the source material to their fullest extent.
It be sounds like Leikir Studio is very aware of the history and lore in some of the interviews I have read
What is the general plot? I saw many parts on TH-cam and it seems the main Antagonist Is a General with his massive army, but sometimes there Are overpowered aliens or even deities from other Dimensions, and in Metal slug 3 the general & his army even helping the Protagonists agianst the aliens.
@@Delicashilousbasically it's about a rouge general named Morden who is constantly trying to conquer the earth and he regularly makes deals with aliens for weapons and accidentally unleashing ancient horrors raiders of the lost ark style and getting dicked over. Sometimes there are one off villains but it's usually just Morden
@@benjaminbaker3446 yeah, there was just this side army in MS4, this other one in 5 (I forgot the names), and then the bad guys from the future in 7/XX.

This is one of the games that I am constantly checking for updates. It’s extremely strange that it just went silent because Dotemu and SNK aren’t new studios.
Sitting here 2 years after it was announced
Can you believe it? It looked like it was quite ready. I have been keeping tabs on the publisher and developer and they both have been very quiet about the title. I am hoping that we might hear something from Gamescom. They might have had some license issues with the IP or something? It might have also conflicted with the launch of Metal Slug Awakening, the mobile title that has released in some parts of the world a few months back.
Hopefully it gets released in 2024 in physical format 🙏
Been waiting for this. Played many tactic games, like front mission 3 and 4, into the breach, fire emblem and others. I want this to exceed my expectations and not disappoint.

I usually don’t care for turn based tactics games like these but this one has my full attention
Metal Slug was one of my best cbildhood memories. I am really looking forward to next year. Even if it isn't similar to the mainline series it is still interesting.
It looks like they are staying very faithful to the series while giving it a fresh approach. Hopefully bring even more new fans to the series. I’m hungry for a military tactics based game. Making a most anticipated list of 2023 at the moment and it’s on it! There’s rpg elements, roguelite elements to increase replay factor etc.

Tbh, I thought this felt like it was based on Final Fantasy Tactics with the art style and title, but it's still good

I hope I can use rebel vehicles. The rebel Di-Cokka and Rebel Girida-O tanks are some of my favorite vehicles. Shoe and Karn are great as well
It's 2024 and all we have seen of this game is the footage from 3 years ago.

and available until the 27th of the month. Have you had a chance to play it? I've only had time to play a few levels, but it's loads of fun and deeper than it appears

Yeah very strange. The devs behind are fairly active on Twitter too but only about their other game. It did look pretty finished so maybe it had something to do with not releasing around the same time as the mobile one that came out this year (June it looks like). Maybe it will be six months or a year from that.
At this point they will have to port it to the next nintendo console

There are a bunch of shows coming up In June: Xbox, Nintendo Direct, SGF. I would be very surprised if it didn’t show up somewhere.

I'm excited for this as a longtime Metal Slug fan
It’s a bummer that both Dotemu and Leikir have been silent since last August, when they delayed MST into 2023. I’m not the biggest slug head, I enjoyed them but I do very much enjoy tactical games and rogues, so this looks pretty great.
I'd prefer a mix between this and Shock Troopers personally but this is a decent step.
All im saying is that we got the time to wait. We have a bunch od new games and refreshing remakes coming out so SNK can take all the time they need to truly make this game a masterpeice. I mean you know they are teying their hardest sicne they even pulled the development teams from the mobile games to help work on it!
All I ask for is the iconic boss battle of the Rebel Gigant (MS7 Allan's boss fight) with the kick ass Assault theme

Starting to wonder myself. Leikir, the studio developing the game, have a new game called Synergy coming out early 2024. It’s possible it’s either done or not finished yet and maybe once they ship their other game, it will be put on the front burner. I have no answers. Game looked great.

Yup. I love the idea of expanding the Metal Slug universe into a different genre. The only update is that Leikir, the developer, is currently making another game that ships early 2024, so maybe it has something to do with that. There is also Metal Slug Awakening which is a mobile game that has been released in certain parts of the world and maybe SNK is giving that room to breathe too? That’s all I got. If it comes out, i will for sure be reviewing it, so swing back if it ever does

Its likely it got delayed without an official announcement. Theres no excuse for a title like this to drop next year, if not i see the project getting scrubbed or it releases to mediocre performance.@@VDGMS
Yeah here’s hoping it doesn’t get scrapped. My assumption was that Leikir, the developer, have another game coming out and they might have signed a contract that their own IP will take priority or the other option is SNK wants to give their mobile Metal Slug game that came out last year in limited release more time to succeed. These are all just strong assumptions. Heres hoping it releases in 2024 and is good!
I hope they add Trevor and Nadia in as well.
