I hope we get unlockable characters. Ralf, Clark, Leona, Trevor, Nadia, Walter and Tyra would be great to play as. I'd love to see Heidern and Whip from the Ikari Warriors added to join the other three.
I can easily see it happening, knowing the history with Ikari Warriors being guests in certain Metal Slug games
There is enough room on that character select for a team of Ikari Warriors.

I really missed Metal Slug, recently played again all versions of the franchise and think this is a good way to return to the video game with a different mechanics , and I will be there on launch day 🚬🗿 .
Having played an unhealthy amount of the demo, I'm surprised that "Fio Germi Style" is not a default ability on her other load outs. Must have been insanely busted during testing.

When there are Mainstream companies like ubisoft, naughty dog, insomniac, activtion blizzard, 2K, disney/marvel, Warner bros etc. All selling their Soul to Blackrock (ESG scores), it's nice to see some indie Companies like you still delivering some short fun with complete creative freedom & non-agendas. Just making Games for the sake of it. Keep it up, I'm sharp for Metal Slug Tactics!

Seems so convoluted, I remember playing the first metal slug at the arcade in the mid 90s, I never thought it needed to be a turn based game. Just need a game as good as 2-x-3 were with music as good as 4

The spritework is IMMACULATE. Even has the same feel of the old animations. Kudos, and good luck on releasing the game!
Had this on my wishlist since day 1, and I'm super excited to finally see it in action!
Metal Slugs is my favorite arcade series from childhood. They always cost a dollar for 3 lives while all the other games were 25cents to 50cents for the popular ones. Despite its high price it always had kids dropping all their money and crowd’s watching. It was just too pretty to look away. Then in highschool the pizza place by my school had MS X and a few other games on the MVS.
Needless to say I have been very hyped for this because tactical RPGs are another favorite of mine. I thought it was cancelled for the longest. Day 1 digital, and again physical!
...why would you have 3 member teams when there's 4 core MS characters?

Three bits from me:
1. Fio looking absolutely shredded in her new art.
2. There is clearly space in the base screen and on the squad menu for more characters. Ralf & Clark for sure (the weight training machine and lifting mat area for them). I see bananas and a gun on the ground, so Utan. Maybe Trevor, Nadia, and Leona as well?
3. Looks like variations on characters will exist too. On the base screen when they highlight Fio and Marco you see a listing for "Fio Classic" and "Marco Classic" above abilities. Maybe they get different appearances that give different abilities too?
Not the new Metal Slug most were expecting, but I am happy to see both a new tactical game and a Metal Slug game.
Holy shit, this game isn't dead!!! This was such a pleasant surprise when it was announced like 3 years ago and then it dropped off of the face of the Earth, glad to finally see it comimg!
As soon as they said "rogue lite" I checked out. This is why Final Fantasy tactics and the fire emblem series are gems in the world of Tactical RPG's. They have a set vision and story and believe it will give you the best experience. Such a shame.
Please make sure to add cool CRT filters options right on release. Don't make us ask for ages and only add via a patch a year later like TMNT.

Reminds me of another roguelike tactics game which Im quite fond of, and the presentation from the graphics to the sound effects are very pleasing. So I'll definitely be checking this game out

Game still looks _really_ pretty and super well made as is tradition for Dotemu but _man_ I was kinda hoping it'd have a more deliberately-designed campaign and not just randomly generated stages that you're expected to replay a billion times just to progress...
Yup. Is what it is i guess. Dropped it from my wish list but i hope for the people who like the genre that they like it.
@@ChicCanyon I mean I _like_ SRPGs, I love Disgaea and I really enjoyed my time with Wargroove but... I _was_ expecting this would be more *like* Wargroove where you have a more fleshed out, human-made campaign and _then_ you can do random "arcade" runs as a side mode.
Yeah a big factor of what i think makes the tactics genre work is thoughtfully crafted maps.
In a roguelike you'll just get randomized enemies/placements with high stats. Itll be about resource management and attrition. Thats not particularly interesting for me.
As an optional mode i could see some value. As like post game content after a strong single player campaign
But if wishes were fishes the world would be an ocean and all that

Seems really cool and I like the fact the art style stays true to the original Metal Slug series.

A great game that would be great to play on Android and iOS.
They are even calling us COMMANDER. So that we XCOM orphans know they’re addressing us.
Two things: 1. Will this have the same announcer as normal Metal Slug? 2. Don't think I didn't miss that full Fio art. Lordy those abs.
Is there an actual story to go along with this? As lively and detailed as the series was, the one thing Metal Slug never really had was character interaction.
There's radio chatter between missions (which you can completely skip/ignore) and occasionally following a run there's a vignette of two or more characters chatting (for example, Marco+Tarma discussing sleepwalking habits and the somewhat understandable fear of being knifed by someone having an episode.)

Quite amazing, but this just fueled my desire for a campaign playing as the Rebels, love those guys.
If I know Dotemu, they may not have triple a funding but they put 10x more care and thought into their games.
I'm generally not into turn based strategy but with this art style it's hard to say no. Instantly wish listed!

Not sure what to think about this game, but it seems to have a strong vision. Usually a strategy game gives you a decent sized team, but it makes sense for Metal Slug to have less. Still hard to understand how everything will play out.
I hope we can play with all of the Metal Slug toy, tanks , and Big Shee.

I'm not a fan of Roguelikes at all, but I can tolerate them in some cases.
That said, I wonder if there's any chance for Leona, Clark, and Ralf since they've crossed over into Metal Slug quite a few times. I'm guessing DLC since they're also KOF characters(Ikari Warriors too obviously).
The stated number so far has been 9 playable characters
Our 3 main boys, 3 main girls, and the crossover crew sounds right.
