That scene always tears me up just imagining it. And understanding his frustration about the greed and how more lives could be saved especially the workers who built that for them. 😢
That's about the only thing this movie got right. That we wouldn't see all people being saved like in some movies, but only the rich and elite would get a chance to survive. Greenland is the only other movie that is realistic and that's picking people based on their skills.
I bet when they have to dock and build the colony, those "paid" passengers will contribute 0% of their efforts.
Funniest part of this is the world leaders put their faith that Chinese engineering was good enough to build these ships to last and not break down 30 seconds after the activate.
yeah not to mention they totally would have sabotaged the american governments ships
It is a joint teamwork construction project, they have Chinese, American and engineers from other countries. Plus this is not about putting faith in Chinese engineering, it's the fact that Tibet is located in China and the location is essential for their survival

It was all combined. Tibet had high elevation, served as a hiding place and china had also very cheap labour.

Although it is more brutal in the manga, the adaptation of Satnam's death with his family is one of the saddest in the entire history of anime. We will always remember.

Yeah Gordon's death was way worse in the manga compared to the anime. At least the movie version wasn't as bad. Also we got to learn more about Sasha's backstory, that was a good treat. We also got to see Adrian's dad and his friend servived in the Manga, I enjoyed the manga version more lol.

I also marvel at how great the effects are and wonder why current day blockbusters and high budget TV look like such shit!
Although the film has many defects in terms of character construction, physical defects. For me it's pure cult blockbluster entertainment, best of natural disasters. Comparing it to today. I'm glad I saw it at the cinema.

you obviously havent watched the Japanese Sunamy Videos.... the LAGER mass something has the more of an Illusion that it is moving slow... like a building collapsing.. its moving at terminal velocity in freefall but watching it fall it moves in slow motion.. same for Trees and rock slides.... HUGE wave like that would appear to be moving extremely slow while gobbling up 3 city blocks a second..
