PS6 will be an all digital system with the optional disc drive. They set this up already with the newer SKUs. PS6 will just be a continuation of this trend.
If PS6 goes all digital then the PS5 will be mine last Console. Then Il go full PC
I mean, PC is also all digital as it is. As an owner of a ps5 and PC, I only ever buy digital.
Console games are always more expensive then steam or others, and I will be having more performance anyway.
Ten countries collectively account for 77% of global video game revenues, and every single one of them (and several others) have passed legislation within the last four years to ensure high speed internet is available to *all* their citizens. I'd be willing to bet after consoles have gone "all digital" they'll transition to exclusively releasing games on streaming/cloud services.
Here in the UK there's barely any shops selling physical games. I don't know if it's just the UK release but we are only getting a redemption code in a plastic bluray box for black myth Wukong. Even the limited edition steel book edition is digital only.
I am one of the people who went full digital this gen.. eventhough i dont regret it, I do miss the feeling of going in a game store, buy a physical game and getting excited on the way home to play it. That feeling is 100% gone now.
I’m guessing that PS6 will launch like the PS5 Slim in that it’s base model will be an all digital console, but have the option of either coming with a disc drive attached or the option to buy one separately.
I could see that
I think the PS6 will be an all digital system. After all its the way that the market is heading since the vast majority buy their games digitally.
I think it would be back compatible with ps5 physical discs at the very least
@@digitalXP13 I don't think that will be the case. I think it will be all digital for the following reasons:
1. The vast majority of gamers are now purchasing their games digitally. The vast majority of games sold on PlayStation are digital copies.
2. A vast number of retailers are no longer selling physical copies of games as there was a steep decline in the numbers of people purchasing physical copies of games.
3. The internet is getting better and keeps improving and as such more and more people are choosing to download games.
4. Quite a few videogames developers are choosing to release their games digitally and either having a delayed physical release or foregoing a physical release altogether.
5. A lot of the major hardware companies have ceased production and manufacturing of bluray/4K bluray players/drives as they see the writing on the wall for physical media due to digital sales and streaming.
Thats why they converted the more recent SKUs to be the all digitial version and started manufacturing the standalone disc drive. Theres no possible future where they can shut out all of the current physical media customers they have. All future consoles are most likely going to be all digital woth the optional disc drive attachment. @Donald_Allan
@@jonathanhensley4883 I disagree. I think the PS6 will be an entirely digital system. Whether you like it or not, those buying discs are very much in the minority which is growing smaller by the day. Whereas those buying digitally are in the majority which continues to grow and it's that along with the reasons I stated which is pushing Sony towards going all digital.
@@Donald_AllanI disagree. Even if the majority is buying thier games digital doesn't neccessary mean that they have to abandon thier other market. There is still a ton of people who still buys physical games and there is still a healthy market for physical media. I think the Ps6 will definitely support physical media. They would receive tremendously amount of backlash if it didn't support it.
There is nothing more satisfying on elden ring than your spirit Summon dying, you dying and the boss dying during your death. It's at that point you know accomplishment when apon respawning at Grace you get your reward for the defeat.
There's positives to owning either physical or digital. Like ofcourse we all know the upside of owning physical. But there's also a whole lot of positives to owning digital. Here's soone examples.
Digital is better for:
•game sharing ! In terms of being able to have 2 people play the same game at the same time. With digital, you can have your account on 2 consoles and download the game to both and play simultaneously.. with physical up's need 2 disc.
Also share your entire library & stil play simultaneously.
•not having to worry about a disc possibly getting scratched, broken or stuck in the console.
•Digital is better for traveling. No carrying around a bunch of disc or only taking a couple disc. With digital you just take ther console with you. Or console plus a small external hdd/ssd. Even if you don't take your console and you just remote play. With physical you only can play the 1 game that's currently in the console. With digital you cam remote play everything that's installed.
•Not having to eject & insert discs everytime you want to jump between different games.
•Buy games without having to go to a physical store (essentially if you live a ways away from one).
•pre-orders, Pre-download, play new releases the moment the clock strikes midnight.
Etc.
I think the only digital game I’ve bought this gen is the tomb raider 1-3 remaster and that’s only because that was the only option. And that’s getting a physical later in the year which I’ll still buy. I’ll support physical until there’s literally no option
Nooo I don’t want my ps6 digital hell no I like to collect my disc
I can’t play dragons dogma because it’s 30fps I’m hoping the pro will fix this
When PS5 PRO releases, the price of games will rise to $79. With PS6 to $89. PS6 PRO to $99. etc…
I really hope physical doesn’t go away.
I hope not man fingers crossed 🩷
Good luck with that
Apparently some hackers hacked from software that Elden ring dlc must be very hard
Folks who say "Just play the PS4 version on PS5 for locked 60FPS" don't seem to understand that the PS4 version has input delay on PS5, so the experience is ultimately gonna be worse than the laggy PS5 version. Playing the PS4 version on PS5 is not a good solution for 60FPS. We need the PS5 Pro to make games future proof, and PS5 games are going to have input delay on PS6 too so waiting for the PS6 is also not a solution.
Elden ring, ff16, ff7 rebirth resolution in performance mode, dragon dogma 2 and also cyberpunk for its drops to 50fps make me want a ps5 pro and heck even silent hill 2, Wukong and Ac shadows will probably have issues to run on a regular ps5.
@MBG stalker 2 will be released on PC day on date
It's not an exclusive.
They just made that deal to have it for gamepass
All Xbox games are like that. There's pretty much no true exclusives on either console anymore
Timed exclusives at best
@cynthiaandoh9575 I agreed, exclusivity die the moment they announced we can expect their 1st party games day on date on PC 🖥
Physical gangs forever
Physical forever
PS5 supports 4k/60. Just focus on performance over fidelity and zero need for a Pro.
The base ps5 struggles getting games to run at higher resolutions with ray tracing enabled at 60 fps. A ps5 pro is needed so people don’t have to choose between graphical fidelity and 60 fps.
