its cuz DUDE's game sense is really good. I believe everyone could have beaten this boss first try but the plays people were making at the time probably weren't the best. DUDE played it patient to try and get a feel for how difficult his opponent is by being patient and not making hasty and foolish plays. Obviously I have gotten better at this game with my aim and game sense now this boss is my daily warmup.
I have taken 80 tries and I still haven’t beaten the third phase

Imagine battling Inner Agent 3 with Splatoon 1 specials.
Phase 1: Instead of the opening super jump Splashdown, there's a sudden Inkstrike and Agent 3 appears from the explosion right in front of you, and the match begins. Instead of Autobombs, they throw Seekers. Instead of the Inkjet, they bust out the Inkzooka for 6 seconds.
Phase 2: Instead of Bubble Blower, Agent 3 has Bubbler for 4.5 seconds, but fights normally afterwards. Take too long in this phase and they activate Bubbler again.
Phase 3: Seeker Rush.
Phase 4: Constant Killer Wail pressure from the UFO. As soon as one Killer Wail expires, Agent 3 deploys another one.
Phase 5: A final Inkstrike is launched and Agent 3 appears from the explosion. The walls disappear and Agent 3 transforms into a Kraken that doesn't wear off. Your task is to shoot the Kraken out of the ring and off the stage. Do that and you win.
hold on... seekers are death on contact... a swarm would be op in this small space...Same with the mobile killer wail. Kraken? umm we have walls. I don't think the stage itself would change during the fight...You'd literally be trapped with a kraken.
I said that the walls would disappear in the last phase.

interesting proposal, but those specials werent built for an arena this small. bubbler makes the user invincible WHILE STILL ALLOWING REGEN, a killer wail from the ufo would take up an entire third of the stage at smallest, and being instant kill along with the size will give you no room to work with (at least assuming he keeps his ability to shoot between killer wails).
the inkzooka would require you to stay close and to the side which isnt the easiest to do in a 1v1, especially again because of the arena size.
the ink strike has a larger kill range than the splashdown and lasts longer by default.
The kraken is a powerful special in its own right, and for the scenario you propose to even work, the AI would have to get significantly less intelligent for the phase. The fastest firing weapons in splatoon 1 couldnt push the kraken, only stop its forward progress. Should they try to advance on a kraken, they would loose ground as the motion changes the shots just enough for the one or 2 bullets that miss to allow the kraken to get closer. All of that is also assuming the defender has unlimited ink. In a scenario with an infinite time limit kraken, you wouldnt have nearly enough ink to push the kraken off even such a small arena in 1 tank. the moment you try to refill, you die to the charging kraken.

I expected the bot to shoot more. I feel like the difficulty fluctuates.
For several youtubers the bots aim would be poor sht while other times it has lazer accuracy.
Some people just would walk towards it an kill him while other times he dashes like a mf.

I like how DUDE beat agent 3 the first time but agent 3 actually spooked DUDE at times.
The boss plays well. Go in fresh and With a clear mind, and it is a lot more manageable. The skill from DUDE was not being overwhelmed by the sheer amount of crap that the fight pulls.

It took me *days*, and *countless* failures to defeat them; so seeing him beat them first try, hearing another player say they beat them in 3, and others within the same day(or even 30 min?)...
Like, i know i'm not the most experienced at gaming; but after hearing how long it took everyone else compared to me, and to hear him say the boss is easy...WTH am i doing?(and should i really keep playing?)

XD Nah, he's one of the best splatoon 2 players anyway. it makes sense that'd he'd beat it easier than us.
They were trying to match your power with that boss, but they couldn't build good enough AI, so they just let it spam specials.
Also, I noticed you weren't using the cover to block the splashdowns. You could have used it to get close after he uses the final splashdown.

Not during the last phase, when he did it was either by accident or just one time it was intentional.
Does anyone actually have an good ideas as to how you beat Phase 5? It is the only one that I have no clue about

During that fight the autobombs were splatting me from outside of their actual area. It was so odd.
That's the piddly splash damage area. Don't get armor broken.

The autobomb range is DECEPTIVE. When you are without armor, even the slightest tickle kills.

I was about an hour in fighting the boss and then my switch died, so it took me about 2 hours

Seeing these arguments. Spoil a game with a thumbnail with dlc that's been out for more than a week or people who actually want to take time to enjoy the dlc experience. There is no 'right' side I personally don't care I'll watch any final boss before playing it . Good job beating it on your first try though DUDE.
If he'd made the thumbnail a shot of his octoling how many people would complain that the thumbnail isn't Agent 3? I think that's clearly a better alternative.

I do not get it. Every time I watch a video of someone fight Agent 3, they dodge shots really well, but when I take a single step inside Agent 3’s range, my armor breaks INSTANTLY
When I say instantly, I mean within 1/2 a second my armor just broke. I jump shot and everything to escape her range, and hit her, but nothing worked, not right side peeking, not Bomb rolling, nothing could hit her except an occasional shot that she dodge roller into, as she dodge rolled like crazy too.
It got to the point where it was EASIER to kill her when she used inkjet, and almost impossible to even approach when she had the auto bomb rush or bubbles. I don’t even know how I beat her, but my armor was broken when I did
Low Gun Casual Gaming I dont get it either. When i see other people play, agent 3 misses tons of shots and barely outranges the player, even though on some of the videos ive seen, the player has bad-ish aim and is slow. But as soon as i fight agent 3, he has perfect aim, no matter if im super quick and have tons of turf inked and outranges my weapon easly.
I beat him/her with a randomly tossed splat bomb. lol
he outranges you and has a better rate of fire. to top it off, he also always knows where you are.

explanation is frustrating but simple: the fight is disgustingly riddled with rng. it's part luck, part approaching her correctly and part being able to dodge her. She jumps randomly and moves randomly, add to that the fact the the dodge roll is unpredictable. She might dodge roll into a corner which is a free win for you OR she dodges in another direction, breaks your armor and finishes you off with an auto bomb/ splashdown. the hard part about the battle is not the fact that she uses specials and has a better weapon, it's the need to improvise every. single. time.

Once you know the mechanics, the fight is much easier. Dude impressed me so much because of how quickly he adapted

this is just impressive. I was on a flight from Honolulu to Sydney, I and spent the entire 14 hour flight trying to beat him. For clarification I beat him as we were landing.
I just beat this boss after dying 5 times and it felt like I unlocked the right to watch inner agent videos. The first one I see is DUDE first trying the friggin boss and the first thing that came to mind is, "Dang, really? First try? This is why I'm subbed." lol

I remember beating the 3rd phase for the first time. I thought I dodged all auto bombs he threw before I broke his armor. I then look behind me, seeing that ONE auto bomb walking after me. My armor was down because I sacrificed it to get his down, so I saw my life flashing before my eyes as I knew: I failed, he beat me.
I hate this boss, so so much.
