Sweetie, you are so correct. We call it From Farm to Table. In economics, it’s called circulation ratio. Every dollar you spend goes to the next person who in turn goes to the next person. This multiplier effect charges up the local economy. If you buy furniture from a box store, it’s plastic sawdust glued together. You buy it from a local cabinet maker of solid wood that lasts generations. I don’t need a new Tesla. Extra cash goes to buy old tools, old machines and DIRT!!!! This concept is fundamental to the “modern Amish” movement. Right now, an Amish foundary in PA pours the cast iron replacement parts for our machines. One of my table saws is a sliding table precision saw made in 1909 run by flat belts on a steam engine. I don’t need to charge excessively as I don’t have thousands in bank interest payments for modern machines I can’t run without grid power. I have solar and old gas generators and steam. My main function is maple syrup. My evaporator is wood fired. Often lights are with gasoline lanterns. Only the computer and a couple other items need inverter power. There are many small farms from which you can get anything including meat. But meat is a bit tricky cuz of the nonsense of the USDA. But you can get around that especially if you use cash.

I couldn’t agree more with you on all of this! My wife rarely uses cash but I am the complete opposite. She now carries a $100 dollar “emergency fund “ because she recently couldn’t get gas due to the internet being down. She is slowly coming around. I enjoy your work, please keep it up!
WOOHOOO!!!! 🎉 I'm a big fan of cash, instead of plastic. You're right that money is energy and the more we can directly interact with, share, and exchange that energy in positive ways the more we level up the vibration. It always amazes me how small businesses will almost always just hand you the machine so you can tap. I always ask, "why are you ok giving away 2-3% of your profit?" They often are on autopilot, don't think about it, are too much in a hurry, etc. So much money is being freely handed over to the giants. Every cash transaction helps right this ship.
Congress approves the printing of money, or value digits. Like rain---- too little or too much is problematic. I was a wealth. (True Wealth) creator. That did require that successful people had an imagination and a home worth increasing in value. The banks and government made it easier to invest in money rather than my potential customer's lives. How so, you think? What is real wealth?

Your stewardship is inspiring! There is nothing better than keeping and sharing cash locally with others who foster the community with their own stewardship!
I believe this is closely related to the fact that we want the government to give welfare, food stamps, etc. I think there is a very warm feeling you get when you help out those in need that you no longer get when the government does it for you. Now when I see someone who is homeless my first thought is "go get food stamps, go get welfare." I have to reign in that thinking and realize how can I help these people myself. We should be very careful and thoughtful about the power we grant our government.
Exactly correct, cash is king, and it leaves no paper trail that's why our Govt and other Govt want to go to a digital currency so they can track everything we do and get their cut in taxes
Love this, I was going to order a makeup vanity from a big box company, but now I have taken a second thought to look into Amish furniture; their pieces are truly gorgeous
Yeah as long as you keep your receipts, have a written agreement a handshake and cash is great, feels more real and there is more accountability. There isn't a lot of that with credit.
I bought gold when the government after printing money like crazy during the pandemic and sold basically right before the spike in price, I missed out on 800$ :( HOLD YOUR GOLD is the moral of the story, 5 years is a good number to hold it for if you can.
I only make one payment per month that is not cash. The automatic payment from my account for the automobile insurance. Everything and I mean everything else is paid by cash only. No credit card, no debit card and no check. Cash only.
This makes me think about using cash more! Yes, that 3% does make an impact especially for small businesses. It's tough because some businesses in the city don't even accept cash any more
Im keeping my land line. I use cash when ever I can and I take cash for my walnuts I sell. I will be taking cash for everything. At this point Im not sure I want to do credit cards which are so prevalent. I have my home paid off which is on 2.5 acres. A farm stand will be going up this spring. I plan on doing the farmers market thing at a couple local markets. I want to do as much on my property as I can vs going to the market. We have a good road where people can see our place and stop. We have limited parking but Im not expecting the entire city to show up at once either. Cash is king and debt free is the best. I worked far too many years to pay off the property but it was done early. Cash, Silver, or barter. I did some bartering just the other day. Walnuts were the cash. to purchase goods. Love it.
Live in PA near large Amish communities, even if their business accepts plastic you can often tell they are reluctant. They prefer currency or your check which they typically accept without question, even for large amounts. They are often their own bank, financing purchases and projects with cash. Good business people, very prosperous folks.
I agree with you about energy - the chicken coop you have hand crafted will have care, skill, & a life time of experience added in with it - that energy can transfer to the well being of your chickens, it can imprint a positive success to your business. today people too often think only of price, method of payment (credit), & ease. people hardly ever consider the other stuff (which can actually end up being more important to the big picture). great points you make. thanks for sharing.

I have several vendors that I do cash with and they are local. I totally agree with on the cash payment. There are a lot of businesses that are charging the person paying with a credit card a 3% or more extra fee so that don’t have to pay the card companies.
