    Finally purchased my first Secret Lab chair, it was a lengthy heavily researched choice, 😭. I decided on the 2022 DVA, regular, softweave fabric, and it's amazing. Everything about this chair was impressive, the box, the packaging, the tools, and not to mention assembly. Assembly was super straight forward, there is a video you can follow or a step by step massive diagram with colored pictures. The magnets for the arm rests and pillow seem very strong and durable. I am super geeked about the look and comfort of the chair and I hope it lasts me for quite sometime.The lumbar support and position adjustments really add comfort to the experience. I feel like its worth the investment, and totally recommend. I used all my own pennies to purchase the chair and have no regrets!!! (so far)

      Hi. A question. Is the chair too hard, or comfortable enough?
      I doubt between 2020 Titan and 2022 R, due to the issue of its hardness. I don't want to spend money on a chair that isn't comfortable for me. I'm 5'57" height and I'm afraid Titan is too big. Omega is ruled out. (I don't want cushion...) 2022 R may be better... but many people talk about it is too hard.

    • @gn0stica536
      @gn0stica536 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Cerbumota It definitely, definitely isn't a soft chair. It's very firm but I personally don't think it's too hard. It isn't like you're sitting on a rock. The chair's pretty comfy, especially for lengthier sittings. It also gets slightly softer over time but it will stay a firm chair.

    • @Cerbumota
      @Cerbumota 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gn0stica536 Thanks for the answer. I bought it. And definitely, I was wrong. May be because I bought the wrong size. But my opinion is that this chair isn't so good that everybody says.

      @@Cerbumota sorry to hear that! I also have it but I do like it a lot. It actually helped with my back but had to get used to the firmness. Would not want another chair anymore.

    I just got a Titan EVO the other day and I had the loud sound when first adjusting the lumbar support, about when I'd reached full extension on it. It sounded like a trapped spring suddenly releasing or something similar. It still seems to function normally so I don't think it's anything to worry about. I think I do have a slight difference in armrest height as well, like others have noted.

    Just ordered a 2020 Titan because it was marked down over $100 cheaper than the 2022 Evo. We use the 2022 at my job, and I really like them, but I couldn't pass up the savings. Bonus - the marked down model was a custom World of Warcraft "Horde" model, so that's pretty cool! I hope I don't notice too many bad differences between the 2020 and the model we sit in at work, because that would seriously be a bummer.

      You probably could, but I'd still prefer they replace them.

  • @ThomasMuehler
    @ThomasMuehler 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I bought one right when they first released. Have two issues.
    1. Base squeaking (due to not having enough buffer between seat and plastic). It took them some time to develop a fix. But they sent it out for free. It was easy to install. Now that is resolved.
    2. My backrest makes noise whenever I move. They report they will be sending me out a new one here. It hasn't happened yet but is also free.
    3. I believe my armrests are even.
    With that said, I love the improvements of this chair. But felt like my 2020 version was slightly more comfortable. It also was completely silent. But I'm still sitting in the new one as the other updates are nicer.

    • @pricadlo
      @pricadlo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Helpful comment, thanks! I'm doing some research to buy a Titan and to be honest, I'm more inclined to go for a 2020 version even with the super cool improvements.

    • @ThomasMuehler
      @ThomasMuehler 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@pricadlo I totally forgot about this comment. I figured I may as well update for you and anyone else who sees it.

      1. The fix for the base of the seat works great. I haven't had any creaking from it since I applied it. But I have found that the seat base is a lot harder (stiffer) than my 2020 model. However, it is a bit larger making it easier to sit cross legged. I think after about four months it is getting closer to my 2020 model that broke in after about 1 month. I think part of that may have to do with the faux leather being too tight creating artificial stiffness. As the original back I had was the same. But the replacement back is a lot softer. Due to this I’m wondering if there has been some improvement there or if it is dependent on the batch you get.
      2. They sent out my replacement back. The new one is a lot softer (when squeezing) compared to the old one which was super hard. Which makes it a lot more comfortable when sitting into. But I still get noise when I have the lumbar support engaged. But moving it around when that develops helps silence it for a short period. Which for the price of the chair is frustrating. I continue to be on the fence about if I see it as a big upgrade from the original (despite me appreciating the increased adjustability). As the 2020 version was in the perfect spot and the perfect amount for my back. But I think I just got super lucky on that. The 2020 model also had a more aggressive racing seat design that would push you into the center of the chair and force better posture. Where the 2022 is more flat allowing me to be in more positions but at the cost of good posture. I feel a lot less squeezed as well due to this. Which can be a pro or a con. The actual adjustment knob is superior on the 2020 model over the 2022. But my 2022 replacement knob is better than my original knob.
      3. The Magnetic Pillow is amazing on the 2022. It is a lot softer of memory foam, an improved shape, and magnetic allowing it to be placed in the correct spot easier. It is also a lot cleaner looking. HUGE difference here. So much so that it makes it difficult to go back to the 2020.
      5. The arms, while cool, have not affected me at all compared to the old ones. So I find that to be a wash unless if you plan on buying the upgraded arm rests which I think are insanely expensive.
      6. The height on the 2020 is a lot higher (both at it’s lowest and the highest) than the 2022. I’d argue the 2022 is probably more “ideal” for most desks. Or if you are shorter you’ll prefer the 2022 as your feet should be able to touch the ground easier.
      7. Aesthetically I think my 2020 version looks better than my 2022 (Batman version for both). The 2020 version looks higher quality and more expensive than the 2022 for some reason.
      8. Both chairs have held up perfectly and still look brand new. They are incredibly solid with no wobbling. The 2022 is the only chair I’ve sat in for the past four months without any issues. Prior to that I spent all my time in the 2020. I still find the 2020 model to be more every so slightly more comfortable and more quiet. But the magnetic pillow, height of the lift, wider base of the seat, and adjustments on the bottom of the chair (for tilt and height) are in more ideal positions making the 2022 be slightly better overall. Either way I don’t think you can go wrong with whichever variant you get. But if the 2020 model is a lot cheaper I don’t think you are missing much.
      If you have any other questions let me know!

      @@ThomasMuehlerMuehler great considerations, thank you so much! I'm more inclined to buy the Titan 2020 because of the price but also the design, which are nicer. I'm not a fan of the magnetic pillow idea as I read that the magnets have a low life cycle and fall easily from the chair. The only thing that is bugging me is the height (I'm 1.65cm 70kg) as I'm afraid to find the T2020 too big. Thanks for the feedback, I'm planning to buy mine today ^^ Cheers

      @@pricadlo I have heard issues with the pillow as well. I've noticed if I whip my chair up quickly, or sit down hard/fast, that it can come loose. But since I tend to not to do that naturally I don't run into that problem.
      I'd also be slightly concerned about the height (more the depth of the chair) at 5'4.

    Got mine a few days ago and it is was way better than the 2020 version. Arm rest feels really soft compared to the 2020 titan which has somewhat rough feeling. And i like the new leather material they’re using. I don’t know if it is because i have the league of legends yasuo edition but the 2020 titan has this smooth/slick feeling. Oh and loved the magnetic pillows!!!! And from what i remember i feel like the 2020 titan seems big compared to R variant of the 2022.

    I have a 2020 Titan and my wife has the 2022 Titan Evo S. I don't see much difference at all. Even in width, they feel very similar.
    2020 pros - arm rests feel more solid
    2022 pros - magnetic pillow
    - better adjustments for lumbar
    I was waiting for my wife's to come in so I could compare. I was debating wanting to replace mine with the 2022. After using both, I'm keeping the 2020. With actual use they feel very similar. Not enough upgrades to justify replacing it. Secretlab makes a great product.

    When talking about customer service, and returns, I have to add here that my return process took in total of 2.5 months... Before you're allowed to send it to them, they make you sign some random document that relieves you of your rights.. Not 100% of the legality there, but they won't process it without it. Also they will only reply once a week, claiming their customer service is really busy. Watch out for these when ordering.

    one thing im afraid of with their PU leather that people overlook is… not the peeling but the cracking at the creases from sitting on it for a few years. granted i only own the 2018 version which has now been upgraded twice from 2.0 to this new evo version but i had a blanket over my titan from day 1 and theres no major peeling except slightly where the cracks are from me sitting on it.. and theres cracks at the creases with light peeling on these cracks are just about everywhere especially the front part of the seat where it creases the most. i knew when i got the chair to be very meticulous about how i sit or anything with the chair and take as much care as possible with it but dang PU really let me down. i get that the newest version is 12 times stronger but ide be willing to bet its still gonna crease and its still gonna crack at those creases with some time. the next chair i get will be soft weave for sure, yea it creases too from reviews online but the major deciding factor for me is it wont crack at the creases.

    The armrest height difference is tied to the position of the armrest base fixations under the chair ! :) if they are not perfectly positioned at the same length under the chair -> then you'll have a slight difference in height : as the underneath of the chair is not perfectly flat ! ^^

    Just bought one (before seeing this review) and put it together last night... so basically I'm using it properly for the first time * right now * after having the same old mesh office chair for ~8 years
    So...
    Brilliant packaging and easy to put together. The massive box won't fit through my loft hatch though so it's either going in the garage (to waste loads of space) or to the tip (to waste loads of packing).
    The chair is much firmer than I'm used to. It's obviously going to 'break in' to some extent, and I'm comparing back to an old mesh chair (that was falling apart).
    The lumbar support feels very firm. The height adjustment doesn't seem to make much difference - is mine broken? Or is it just a subtle difference?
    The arm rests on mine are the same height.
    The soft weave feels much cooler than my daughters (similar) Corsair chair. So it's _really_ good as a fabric choice if you want to stay chilled in the hot weather.
    Build quality is excellent except the arm rests do have some play in all directions and therefore can rattle if you give 'em a shake. I wasn't expecting that tbh, but it's not something you notice when on the chair.
    In summary, I'm expecting to have some back ache or shoulder ache after a day's work for the first time in years, as I feel I haven't dialled this thing in yet, and I've been soooooo used to the previous chair (even with a broken backrest and horrible squeaks). That's probably going to put someone off, reading that. I can only say I'll either get used to it in a couple of weeks, or I'll make use of their returns policy! (That is: request return within 2 weeks, return in original box, pay for parcel delivery - fair enough)

      @@TURTWIG094 Well it's not trash (that's a bit extreme), but I wouldn't buy another. Basically it's still hard, it makes creaks and groans when I shift my position on it (maybe I need to re-tighten all the bolts, but I think they're mostly from inside the lumbar support mechanism), and I'm still getting backaches occasionally where I didn't have any before.

The lumbar knob was broken on the backrest when removed it from the box, the magnetic pillow is damaged and has a tear in it also out of the shipping box. There warranty department is obviously not in America. Not sure how I can get them to honor it. But I hate having a expensive chair and the plastic knob on side is broken in half.

    • @FracnoTV
      @FracnoTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      If you mean the Herman Miller x Logitech Embody, then I’d say the HM is the better chair for most things. I prefer the SL for more relaxed sitting like watching a movie/show, and I think the armrests are better on the SL as well. Overall though, the HM is better but it’s also 3x the price. I wanna do a video comparing them eventually.

    I have the evo 2022 titan just over a week and it’s lumbar support is creaking like crazy. I’ve contacted support and after reading multiple reports on this I now wish I hadn’t bothered. People getting replacement back units and still having the same issue. I’ve already tried adjusting the settings over and over and still the same issue and getting worse. Junk, don’t bother buying this chair

The locking mechanism went out twice already and they claim I would have to pay $70 to get a new locking mechanism. I’m looking at the new 2022 models and it says that it’s 395lbs and the locking system is heavy duty, any one having any issues with the locking mechanism with this lineup???

    Uncomfortable AF. What a shame. They spend much effort to make it look cool, have decent adjustment and awesome unboxing experience. But face it the chair is like sitting on and against a flat board with pleather on it . Just another gaming chair your body is actually gonna hate sitting in for long periods. To be serious tho, there is probably a very good reason they are priced the way they are, and if it’s out of your price range it is possible to find good chairs for like $300. @@FracnoTV The seat is designed in a form and function to be utilized inside of vehicles. So your body is stationary while aggressively cornering. The side bolsters are literally, not figuratively, designed to hold a person in, the thought of comfort isn't even on the drawing board. With that being said I'm genuinely interested if your gaming setup can make you experience G forces, because if so my 3080ti is extremely jealous.

      @@br3aking366 Despite Personal Info's comments, he is correct. Secret Lab claims to be ergonomic yet they provide very few ergonomic features. Ergonomics seating is designed to move the way we want to move without restriction. The entire idea of the current secret lab design counteracts this idea and back tracks 30+ years of R&D by major companies like Steelcase & Herman Miller. You can especially see this in seating like the Steelcase Gesture, Series 2, or Leap, Aeron, Embody as examples.
      The current market describes ergonomic seating to be built around 3 main areas: Health, Flexibility, and Agile. Secret Lab Titan can nail Agile working to an extent due to its simplistic set up but even fails here due to its size and maneuverability.
      Titan is an ok chair. Their stiching and branding is immaculate. Everything else is not worth the $$$. If you are buying because you want a good chair look somewhere else.
