A musical genius. One of a kind. From bossa, jazz, funk, soul and more. The talent and ear for music, production, arrangements, awesome musician make Q truly one of the greatest. So much of his amazing music and the many artists and musician's he worked with have been important and special for me over the years. Q thank you for the amazing joy and love you gave us over the many wonderful musical years with your music. Q RIP.
No words can truly capture what Quincy Jones means to me. He’s my idol, my inspiration, my influence-my icon, my legend. From the very first moment I heard his music, I felt its transcendence, its therapeutic power, and the abundance of love and loyalty woven into every note. I still remember the day I bought my first Quincy Jones album, *Back On The Block*. That moment truly changed my life. The incredible talents he collaborated with-Michael Jackson, George Duke, Greg Phillinganes, Jerry Hey, John “J.R.” Robinson, The Brothers Johnson, James Ingram, Patti Austin, Carlos Rios, Miles Davis, James Moody, Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, George Benson, Lesley Gore, Tevin Campbell, Ray Charles, Ray Brown, Toots Thielemans, and so many others-formed a musical tapestry that inspired generations. Now, my heart and thoughts are with the Jones family during this difficult time. As I bid farewell to Quincy, I want to express my deepest gratitude. Quincy, thank you for your extraordinary music, for your boundless energy, encouragement, advice, and invaluable lessons. Your legacy will resonate in my heart forever. You are the legendary mastermind of music, and your ability to spread love through your art is unmatched. I’ll say it once more, and I mean it from the bottom of my heart: thank you. May you rest in peace, Quincy Jones. Long live The Dude.
