Hey, great video series you got going on. With respect to the reducing sanitary tee. Have you ever ran into any issues if you change the default Tee for the sanitary/vent to that reducing tee? I like what its doing and could help tremendously when dealing with those pesky reducers not letting pipes connect.

Funny because I thought the exact same thing! I definitely think it should be the default, but I'll let you know if I come up with a reason why we shouldn't use it. Great minds think alike!

*IMPORTANT* Make sure you lock your view with the little house and padlock button next to the temporary hide button. You need to lock the view before you can tag pipe or add annotation symbols to the view. I'll make sure I go over this in part 2!

Please.....vertical to horizontal waste piping needs a Combo & 1/8 bend fitting not a San-Tee.

Not sure what section of piping you are referring to. The sanitary from the urinals and water closets is horizontal to vertical. Based on section 706.3 you can use a San Tee. But I'm willing to hear you out.

@@mep_guy at (19:22) you show SanTee.
(Cali. Plumbing Code) 706.4 Vertical to Horizontal. Vertical drainage lines
connecting with horizontal drainage lines shall enter
through 45 (0.79 rad) wye branches, combination
wye and one-eighth bend branches, or other approved
      fittings of equivalent sweep.....ect.
I was always told by the engineer that the Combo gives a better flow.
706.2 Horizontal to Vertical. Horizontal drainage lines,
connecting with a vertical shall enter through 45
degree (0.79 rad) wye branches, 60 degree (1.05 rad) wye
branches, combination wye and one-eighth bend branches,
sanitary tee or sanitary tapped tee branches, or other
approved fittings of equivalent sweep. No fitting having
more than one inlet at the same level shall be used unless.
Seems SanTee is ok going from Horizontal to Vertical.
      My 2-cents.

@@whatsmyname787 Yep that code language is pretty universal and comes from the IPC. The piping connection shown at 19:22 is a horizontal sanitary pipe with a vent connection at the top. You can use a sanitary tee as long as the outlet facing up is for a vent only. If sanitary drainage were coming down into the vertical portion of the san-tee then it would not be allowed by code. The best way I've learned to think about the correct use of fittings is to think about when the sanitary drainage needs to be directed to the flow of the piping. For most vertical and horizontal connection, the fitting needs to direct the sanitary drainage to the correct direction of flow. In a horizontal to vertical flow pattern, gravity directs the drainage without the need for a directional fitting like a wye. I would highly recommend the book "Plumbing Venting, decoding chapter 9 of the IPC". It has a ton of great visuals that have helped me a lot to understand this stuff.

@@mep_guy I see. I need to go stand in the corner until class is over. I thought you were connecting waste piping when in fact you're connecting vent piping. My Bad.

@@whatsmyname787 haha! All good. Thanks for the dialouge though. You had me second guessing for a minute. Are you on the contracting side or design?
