- Professional chef Saúl Montiel and home cook Emily are swapping ingredients and hitting the kitchen to make huevos rancheros. We set Emily up with a whopping $272 worth of ingredients for her attempt at Saúl's luxury recipe. Meanwhile, a modest $18 worth of ingredients was sent back the other way to be elevated into something gourmet by our esteemed pro. Will Emily be able to execute the crispy duck carnitas Saúl intended to make? Can Saúl turn Emily's simple ingredients into a gourmet Mexican breakfast?

This was so tasty and so fun!! Thanks for having me, Epicurious! 💕
You were great as usual❤
Hi again!. You did amazing
ur obnoxious
Well done Emily, you didn't duck out!
You did great. Careful salting the stock, salting the food is probably a better choice.
"Emily, if you screw this up... 😡 It's okay. 😊 People make mistakes." Saul, you're the best, and much love for Emily too. What a great ep.
Having Saul and Emily in the same video is *SPEC-QUACK-UCULAR*
Dad, is that you
@@TheAvgCookTX hey now, emily started it 🤣
@citriosis that's mybad. I hadn't gotten to that part of the video yet. I be reading comments as soon as the show starts lol
Quack quack
Quack quack
"The only Mexican here is me!" This got me 😂
Orale Carnal... :)
@@sgholtNo.
Yet his dish was WAY below hers :(
This combination of Saul’s utter confidence and Emily’s willingness to tackle any recipe with humor and gusto is perfection! ❤
" Cooking with Saul " needs to be TV series with Emily asking the questions and helping out 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Nothing about his dish was huevos rancheros at all
@@angiemonroy1881 😋 I have never seen a Mexican dish with crispy duck, but Saul's dish looks absolutely delicious... Please tell me what is Huevos Rancheros❓
@@angiemonroy1881 yes tell us what it’s supposed to be since you seem to be so knowledgeable, instead of just being negative.
@@mrsjackbauer1 angie morey is wrong this is a better version of huevos rancheros
I wish to see Chef Saul vs Chef Frank preparing their favorite dish
Stay on theme and have them make each other's favorite dish.
I know because they both suck
We keep asking but they hate us 😂😢
I'm a simple person, I see chef Saul, I click
are you a bot?
@@PunkrockNoir-ss2pq nope
this is actually the appropriate response to seeing chef Saul! he needs your clicks people
I love both of them and I especially love how far Emily has come over the years.
I ROFL'd @ "This looks like a great breakfast, which I'll look forward to having in approximately 2 days."
Epicurious, as much as I appreciate the captions, I'm not a fan of how often Saúl's Spanish is transcribed as 'speaks a foreign language'. Slipshod captioning on the part of whoever transcribed this, especially since what he says in Spanish is typically clear enough to hear and understand for transcribers (and if you don't know the word ask a Spanish speaker for help?).
Emily is definitely ready for the big leagues!! And I LOVE watching Chef Saul cook. He takes things that look like they're going to be difficult and breaks them down to make them approachable. (And even the way he slices avocados is like magic.)
It's funny watching Emily cook now. She has confidence through the roof now. She didn't even need to call Rose on this.
I know
Nobody calls Rose anymore, the chef gives the instructions now.
"Low and slow. Patience and faith". Oh Chef Saul, you will never know how in hard times these words are such a pearl of wisdom and comfort!
This is my favorite episode so far!! At the end when Saul tells her "Look at this-this is why I say Emily's ready to be a pro!"
Saul is great, probably my favorite pro chef of all. Just a talented but nice guy.
I'd love to eat his food some day.
With Saul, there's no pro chef TH-cam channel that is gonna find anything wrong with his cooking.
Uncle Roger has entered the chat.
@@puxkx5827 He's an expert on Eastern and casual food not Mexican food.
Emily saying "Chef Raul, you saucy minx" has officially redeemed her for using ketchup on french toast
of course Chef Saúl is an excellent chef.. he talks to all ingredients as if they are his friends or may be remote relatives :x
I love him. Such a great sense of humor, too. Laid back and natural. While still imparting wisdom. A treasure!
Whoa she got an actual recipe instead of just a list of ingredients
19:02 Chef Saul's face enjoying his food while Emily is complimenting the food is priceless 🤣
Just finished my final uni essay, immediately sat down to see a new vid has come out!! Amazing!
congrats!!!!
Any time I get to see Chef Saul do the Cheese Trick, it's automatically a great day.
I love how they teach you how to make the food they are making more…. beginner-friendly. I actually can do some of these without any worry about my bank and burning my kitchen.
I look forward to Emily completing her journey and becoming a pro, teaching the next generation.
Been watching Emily all the way back to the ketchup days, it's Amazing how talented of a cook/chef you've become.
I want to see two pro chefs with a (really) small budget and doing the switcheroo
theres that series with dan gusti where he turns low priced groceries into full meals on youtube, pretty cool
(pro chef turns canned tomatoes into 4 meals for under 12$ is one title)
but it doesnt have the comparison aspect you talked about
Please always pair Saúl and Emily together.
"is that a duck..?" 💀 you did awesome Emily looks delicious!!
"chef snack" made me snort, guffaw, and chortle myself silly... omg
"Alas poor Yorick" i love you Emily
The way the professionals can take simple ingredients for less than twenty dollars and turn it into an upscale, restaurant-quality plate is nothing short of awesome.
Emily is getting so confident in the kitchen. It's really great to see!
I've missed these two!
The more I see of Chef Saul, the more I'm liking Mexican food.
I see Saul, I click, I like
12:25 Watching Emily’s slow decent into madness while making breakfast. 😅
One of the funniest episodes, I loved seeing those two together! :D
i love them both, pls never stop posting these
Day #37 of requesting a Saul Frank ingredients exchange!
I love it when it's these two. I learn so much watching this series.
"The only Mexican thing here is me!" Saul is a beast 🤣🤣🤣
Best duo, love seeing both of these chefs
That was like FIVE OUGGGHHHS🤪. Not even halfway through and i gotta buy a duck and blood orange for Friday night dinner
Yay two of my favorite people!
These 2 are a dynamite pair, loved them together!
Pro chefs be like," here you make my complicated recipe and I'm gonna complicate your recipe by making it a different one". Lol
a little corazón
Welcome back cheese trick!
Emily and Saul are the best
Saul and Emily are easily the two most charismatic people on Epicurious.
I'll never pass on a Chef Saul video
What a fun video this was. I can't wait to try both dishes. I guess I'll be busy in the kitchen for a while. Thank you so much.
I wonder how this is filmed. Like, are there two identical studios and the chefs are cooking at the same time, with Saul fielding techniques and instructions to Emily as needed? Do they cook at separate times? But then, how does Saul tell Emily what to do? And how do both get to taste the dishes at peek freshness if one was completed hours before the other?
They are not cooking at the same time. The pretend-o-meter is pretty high here.
@@anniestumpy9918 Then I wonder how both chefs get to taste each other's dishes, still warm and at peak freshness.
Chef Saul's dish looks impecably yummy
the way Saul smash his beans is the proper way, you push and swirl, Viva Méxicoooo !
I love Saul smm
You both were so amazing with your recipes and ingredients! Saul did amazing things with basic items, and mily really did great with that duck! I'm definitely doing the cheese trick with some tostadas!
Here chef Saul fan club 🙌🏼
I love seeing these two. But i noticed that the plate that Emily made was not what was used for the glamour shots and for the presenting to Saul.
Her plating looked honestly so overflowing and amazing compared to the neater final one. 16:39 for her version and 18:04 for the neater one.
I see Saúl, I click.
"Coca Cola, for breakfast?" Yes actually, especially with a weekend breakfast like this one!
It’s weird to me how Americans call Canadian Bacon something that looks like ham. True Canadian bacon is peameal bacon! 😊
I absolutely love Saul.
SAUL!!!!!
So we're starting breakfast prep at what time? Midnight to serve at 6:00 a.m.?
The episodes with chef Saul are really fun. Been loving the recipes
A GREAT episode!
Finally... Saul and Emily (The Ketchup Queen) 🗿
Not the Pinky "Nart" near the beginning haha love it
I love Saul ❤❤❤❤❤ I comment before watching
Love chef saul!
That was... Amazing! Wow!
0:56 I saw Burlap & Barrel's wild cumin. Boy they are expensive but worth every penny 💙
omg my fav duo came back!
Quackptain Qwispy 🤣🤣🤣
Love this goofy team ❤ Great episode!!
these 2 make an instructive team (y) well done
Delicious 👏
hmmmm love it
the subtitle for when he said corazon said foreign language. why couldnt they have just said heart?
No way they switched Emily’s presentation and expect us not to notice lol
epicurious please hire me to do the subtitling it's such a shame that some parts were not subtitled/subtitled incorrectly!
I'm really craving a chicken soup episode
i love you emily
But wait! There's more! 🤣
It’s not an Epicurious video without a Saúl “mic” drop!
as a mexican, even $18 is an insane amount of money for huevos rancheros
I need to make this salsa. 😊
they could never make me hate Saul
I just keep waiting for Saul to get the ingredients
swap and say, “a la verga!”
i freakin love emily now, shes so entertaining
Those guys rock!
Emily did a great job too! I’m here for it anytime!
It sounded ike Saul called the duck broheim. 🤣
Beans, Cheese and Chips baby!!!...thats T Shirt worthy😂
This dish doesn't have meat. It's corn tortillas refried beans eggs and salsa.
Chef Saul showing off with this recipe ❤
😂😂Duck for $73 😂😂
likely organic and some specific breed
rule of supply and demand, there's probably 3 farms across the us who have those, and probably they're less easy to keep than normal ducks.
in my country an entire duck sets you back less than 20€, and some years ago that was much less
i see saul, i click, im a simple human
