    This is terrific! I already knew the Italian cast-on, and how to convert from 1x1 to 2x2 ribbing, but this video is the best I've seen for both those things. And thank you for the jogless connection instructions. I'm bookmarking this one!
    Note to beginning knitters: No need for a provisional cast-on, no need for a crochet hook, just use this method. This video is paced perfectly for beginners.

    Hi, Irina! Thank you for this unique tutorial. It was exactly what I was looking for! Being a beginner myself I haven't fully understood whether you've cast on directly on the circular needles or used straight needles and transferred later on to join in the round. Thank you so much for this thorough presentation.

    • @irinarevo
      @irinarevo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am very glad you like the video! I’ve cast on directly on a circular needle. If there aren’t too many stitches to cast on (like for a hat vs a bottom up sweater) you can use a straight needle for casting on. Switch to a circular needle for the first row (which is worked in the opposite direction), then join in the round at the beginning of the second row/round. :)

    Best video so far for tubular cast on in the round, thank you!!! I'm going to go for it, but will ask: Is there anything I'll need to know to convert this to a 4 x 4, besides what might seem logical? Casting on: make 4 knit stitches and then 4 pearl?

    • @irinarevo
      @irinarevo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you very much, Lori! You can convert this to a 3x3 without changing the look/integrity of the cast on edge - by swapping the other 2 stitches to get 3 and 3 (after the tubular part when I swap to get 2x2 you can swap the other 2 stitches to get 3x3). Casting on is still one knit and one purl alternating. For the 3x3 I would use a bigger needle after the tubular part. To convert it into the 4x4 you would have to swap 2 knit stitches with 2 purl stitches and it is too bulky and will distort the cast on edge. I hope this helps. :)

    You're a marvel and such a great teacher! Love the way you hold your yarn and knit with the tips of your needles. How would you do the the jobless Italian tubular cast on and do a 3x3 rib? I understand you would cast on a number divisible by 3 but how do you sequence the interchange when you start the ribbing? Again, thank for such a well done instructional video!

    • @irinarevo
      @irinarevo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much, Leigh!
      I hope the following makes sense:
      C/o a division of 6 (3 knit stitches plus 3 purl stitches). Cast on and the tubular are the same as in this video.
      For the 3x3 rib:
      Purl the first stitch.
      Slip the knit stitch from left to right, slip the following purl stitch from left to right, insert the left tip from right to left into both stitches together and slip them off the right tip returning onto the left tip (swap so that the p st is first on the left tip, the knit stitch is second on the left tip, knit st will be in front of the work and purl stitch will be behind the work) purl the purl st, knit the knit stitch
      Knit a regular knit stitch
      Like in the video (18:59 min): insert the right needle tip from left to right into both knit and purl stitches together, slip them off the left tip, return the purl stitch onto the left tip, knit the knit stitch, purl the purl stitch
      Purl a regular purl stitch
      Last stitch of the round - a single purl stitch
      Elimination of the jog is exactly the same as I do in this video.
      Basically, the only difference is how to swap the other two stitches. :)

    Thank you. Your videos for jogless italian cast on are the best I've found. A lot of my patterns call for 2K 2P stitches for the ribbing. Your video has 2P at the start. Any suggestions for what to do to start with 2K?

    • @irinarevo
      @irinarevo  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you so much for your kind feedback! I would do everything the way it’s done in the video. The joining in the round will be completely jogless and invisible after you weave in the yarn tail the way I showed it. And after completing the ribbing I would simply move the marker of the beginning of the round by 2 stitches.

    • @CharityRentsch
