- Small (too small for my hand) and with a beautiful flood, throw and tint.
Its a shame they seem to have an issue with the button that had
had me swearing, even if it was on rare occasions.
7.5 out of ten.

I absolutely love this flashlight! Fantastic EDC. Useful in all situations. The battery life is surprisingly good on the lower levels!
I love the size! That is the whole point! Why in the world are you complaining about that?! If one wants a slightly bigger flashlight, get the FW3A, or something else. There are always SO many other options out there if you want bigger. However, there are not many flashlights out there this small that can do what this FWAA can do! Please don't ask that this model be made bigger. Ridiculous complaint, to be honest.
This thing impresses people more than any other light I own because of its size! I always get a gasp from people when I activate turbo. No one expects such an absolute wall of light from such a tiny thing. Of course I own plenty of MUCH brighter flashlights. I think my brightest is 18,000 lumens. But they are so much bigger that despite still being impressive, people expect a lot of light from a larger flashlight. No one expects the blast of light from this little thing.
Beast of a little flashlight, and perfect EDC, because of its size, performance, and features. Just slightly larger than a Chapstick. Can't even tell it is in my pocket. Yet it can light up a whole parking lot if needed. Or be so dim that it is barely on. Despite being completely a flooder, it is so bright that you can still see plenty far with it, when needed. Perfect tint to see any color detail. Rugged build with a metal button that won't wear out with lots of use, never had an issue with the button, the button works perfectly for me. All features that make for a great EDC. Fantastic.
Personally as far as the UI, the more features, and the more ways to customize, the better in my opinion. So despite that I like the original Andruil UI the best, I understand why the compromise was made for Andruil 2. At lest in advanced mode you still get all the functionality. And it is extremely intuitive, once you learn it. And you can always customize the UI to be as simple as you like, if you want ultra simple. I never understand why people complain about too many modes in Andruil. Just don't use them. You can set the flashlight up to be as simple as you want. Even a single brightness mode output, eg. just on and off, if that is your thing. The point is customize it how YOU want! Once you have it setup how you like, you will probably never have to change it again. What could be easier or fit the needs of more people?
Regardless Andruil, in general, is the absolute cream of the crop for flashlight UI, in my opinion. I honestly will probably NEVER buy another flashlight that does not have Andruil ever again, no matter how great the flashlight is otherwise. There are just so many great Andruil flashlights out there now, that it is rarely a compromise to require a flashlight that I buy to have Andruil. I love how I can pick up any manufacturer's flashlight with Andruil UI, and they all will work the same, and do anything I might want, feature wise.
The ONLY downside of the FWAA, in my opinion, is that you cannot use traditional AA batteries in a pinch. Otherwise, I think Lumintop knocked the FWAA out of the park!
Thank you so much for your input i am very grateful to get other views on the lights it really helps viewers see what others think.
you have lots of valid points here i agree with you. i did try giving this to a few non flashlight users and they just didn't want to deal with a large expensive UI. I'm with you though i LOVE andruil but i can see why some wont which is just the way it is for them.
Yes its a bit of a shame they couldn't let you fall back to an old style AA im guessing adding that might have added to size? i do like my lumintop but this one is the better light like you say for certain reasons although i still have the lumintop on my multitool pouch side at all times.
I'm trying to work out why my hands hated the size of this light do you think i was right that they added the cigar ring because of this issue? or do you think it was just my hands and the cigar holder thing was just included for some other reason. i want to understand why i had this issue that's why i ask.
Thanks so much for your expansive overview of the light after using it, it really helps others so il pin your comment to the top mate.
Thank you so much for the effort and rambling ( which I love!) this is the review I want from every light! Such detail and made me purchase it. Got the nichia 219c 4000k version can't wait!
I have had Alot of light but want something small 14500 size. This is perfect. Unfortunately not compatible with regular aa batteries which should be an option imo. But we can't have it all 🤷🏻♂️
Thanks again! Keep up the good work I appreciate your effort.
That Nichia is going to look gorgeous! It is a bit of a shame about the no fall back to the AA. You will enjoy this light. Thank you so much for the support mate, I try very hard to be fair and honest and cover everything i can on these lights. I aim to make a video where it helps someone make a good decision on buying a light they will love. Have a great day mate.
@@TrailTrek I can't wait! Should be here tomorrow. Keep being honest about the lights, you don't only count in your own opinions and experience but also from others online.
Your review definitely helpt alot. You've deserve more subs ^-^ I'll be looking forward to seeing more in the future of your videos.
Cheers. I'm still surprised I have over 3 thousand subscribers to be honest with you. I'd still be happy with a small but friendly and helpful group of subscribers than 100 times more if they weren't as nice. I feel like in the comments most people are here to help eachother out. Which I absolutely love.
@@TrailTrek the flashlight community is very good! Of course their are some out there 🤦🏻♂️😅. But mostly are wonderful to deal with! I've made good friends during my journey.
I've been so lucky to meet and chat to intelligent and helpful people. Only a tiny amount of idiots so I'm blessed 😁👍
Roll a thick O-ring on before tailcap.. Thats my suggestion for cigar grip.
Good idea cheers for this. 👍👍
Thank you.. Love the nice addition of outdoor/real life shots of the beam in multiple frame layout.. Suggesting you add the duration of that parts and with larger frame .. Love the dark path with distant streetlamp shots too.. those are very common and natural setting most torch user encounters.. trees and the bridge shot also expose the tint hue..
Beautiful mate.. Cheers🥃
Thanks so much this is really helpful feedback. For the larger frame stuff so you mean like the full screen walking about stuff? I'm always happy to add more of the stuff that viewers find useful so I want to make sure I'm understanding this right. I really enjoy all the outdoors testing I do because it shows me so much more that just shining it in the garden for example. Thanks for this really kind support send let me know what's most useful I'll try to modify future reviews. Have a great day 👍😁
I just ordered one of these from Skylumen modded with sst20 2700k leds. Happy to see it’s a very floody little light. Great, thorough review. The UI is very interesting.
Nice! Let me know what is like when it arrives. The flood on this is extremely good even though it's a small and slim light so it should look pretty beautiful. 👍
I love the floodiness with my fwaa Nichia 219 4000k
The food on this is really impressive bearing in mind the diameter of the head. I love the beam and tint on mine.
Does the FWAA have a quick access turbo mode to get to max brightness immediately?
I don't think it does with the default U.I as double press will get to max ramp then another 2 for turbo.
Awesome review. Basically the Anduril 2 have all the functions of the Anduril 1 but as advanced UI, now i understand a bit better. Beam profile is awesome, almost perfect tint..... Damn I'm in love for this little beast and I didn't receive mine yet.
Yes correct. I think the idea of anduril V2 it's too make it easier out of the box for non flashaholic people. Which I suppose it does.
You will love the beam it's the one thing I loved about this light. It looks gorgeous.
Great Review. Thanks man. Hopefully a glow gasket will be out soon.
Hmmm yeah I think that would look pretty cool. I just want that button to be tweaked then I'd be buying a second and third for gifts.
Glow gaskets are out for the fwaa, i got the blue one.
Thanks for this info. What is the glow duration like on them? I wouldn't mind testing some.
@@TrailTrek I turn my light on turbo for a few seconds, then set it on my night stand. It will glow till morning.
🙂 wow that's impressive! Well worth having in that case
Well done on the review (as with the others).
I don't know why anyone wouldn't want to find out about the UI if they were interested enough in the review to begin with.
Good point for the super long ui stuff, now I always add the seek bar so it can be skipped. I did try do do a few with less UI in there but I end up with a load of comments to reply to asking about turbo and UI questions. Also as this is using anduril V2 I wanted to make sure I was covering it and it's changes over v1.
Thanks for the very kind support and if you have any questions I'm here to help, have a great day.
Looks like the
Compact Tri Flood 14500 LED Flashlight With Nichia - by Maratac
Anyone know if it’s the same?
I´m not getting anything extra, when being at high and double tap to turbo. I´m in advanced UI and it´s the same for all 3 FWAA I own. Using the Vapcell H10 btw. What am I doing wrong?
Hmmmm that is strange, remember if you want a huge output on turbo you need a very high amp cell. Maybe that's what happening? What is the max amp output of the cell you have in there? The one I was using is 10 amps so the fet driver can suck out a ton of amps.
@@TrailTrek Vapcell H10
I'm out of ideas mate unless the light has a fault. It's a shame.
Does the double click take it to the brightest turbo? Or does changing the temperature allow the turbo to be even brighter? ...okay I just realized thanks to ur vid that my turbo is way brighter in advance ui
Yeah I completely understand where you are coming from. And what makes it confusing is that certain manufacturers say simple and advanced both have same max output, but my testing shows you get way more in advance mode.
Any more questions I'm here to help 👍😁
I'm just new to this hobby, and finding some good 14500 edc and luckily I found this video. May I ask what lumens was used on "Low,High and Turbo" on the last part of this video around 53:42? Thank you
Hi welcome to the hobby 😃👍 it's difficult to give you a spot on lumen reading due to the type of cell. This setup uses a fet driver so what happens is a higher amp cell will output much more lumens than a lower amp one. So a standard 14500 will give you less lumens than the cell I used here which is very high amp. The down side of course to more amps is higher heat and shorter runtimes. But I don't mind that. I will at some point try to buy a big expensive tester to get a lumen output. I hope this helps a bit
I think Olight were/are doing a FREE i3E - Register Welcome Gift just pay £4.95 postage, Meant to say sooner, but was still recovering from covid and gout :( Out of interest do you know of any decent aaa size rechargeables ? Blimey that had too many modes for me, I don't think I'd be able to remember them all, nice light shame about the button.
Thanks for this I've pinned the comment. I'm so sorry to hear you have been ill I wish you a full and rapid recovery mate. For me I tend to get either the eneloop AAA (white colour) or the black pro version of that size. I've used them for years and they are spot on.
Yeah this light is a little like learning a new language for the UI but that button is a massive shame!
@@TrailTrek I was double jabbed about a month before I caught it, so it does make you wonder if it would of been much worse as in hospital or it didn't do anything. Cheers for the wishes, does cheer me up to see such in depth reviews you do, I don't think anyone does them better! Kudos
Man I'm so sorry to hear you have been ill. The important thing is you are safe and well so I'm very happy to hear this. I'm wishing you and your family good health for this ongoing covid issue. Thanks for the support I honestly tried to get this one shorter but when I saw it was about an hour long i knew it was another opic length review lol. At this point I think maybe i could do shorter ones but that world involve a load of jump cuts. I know the new TH-cam chapter thing they are adding to the timeline should help with my mega long reviews though 😁👍. Take care mate and thanks again.
@@TrailTrek if you did them shorter they wouldn't be so in-depth, that's what I like :)
Ok thanks for the feedback mate I really appreciate you taking the time to tell me. I've just been out testing the sofirn sc21. It's rather a nice budget 16340 light.
..
ты в норме?) Не беда, пока не взорвется в кармане.
🙈
I'm fine thanks how are you doing?
Why can't they make thse with basic settings on the button. So dumb
I think with certain lights they get the idea that those getting it are super enthusiastic experts. When the vast majority of the market just want a light that turns on and works then turns off again.
They do seem to accept this and have made changes to the UI bit it's still very complex. I would expect this to change in the future as oled screens become more common.
Ronnie James Dio grip. Ozzy didn’t coin that..
Cheers Dio it is then 🤘. 😁
