Hello Justine. I'm from Helsinki, Finland. I stopped buying new clothes because shops started to sell a lot of cheap synthetic materials here, with natural fibres often priced out of my range, and now I try and gather my clothes from thrift stores. I'm a fast knitter, so I could knit myself more cardigans I suppose, and I have sewn a few t-shirts from old 90s cotton which I dyed black in the washing machine (my self-sewn clothes are clothes I more often wear at home, for pyjamas.) I think thrifting has developed for me a hoarding problem, which I'm now trying to manage with some success. I tell you this because I think it might be interesting and relevant to you thinking about aspects of clothing and consumption. To the question at hand: surprisingly, my favourite item of clothing is a black polyester tulle skirt, which I wear when it isn't cold (dressing seasonally is a must here.) I'm a dancer, and I've danced for 20 years, out of that ballet for 10 years. Because genetically I am not chic and lithe, but rather more built to fill a door frame with my height and build, you'd never expect to see a tulle skirt in my size, but I found one in a thrift store a few summers ago, and I fell in love with it. It's about 2/3 the length of a romantic 1800s tutu. Wearing it never fails to delight me. I have sewn a four-tiered ballet tutu for dance class before, and managing the layers when pulling them all together is so stressful, I would never attempt to construct one for myself for day wear. I wear my tulle skirt sometimes with a body-hugging top, other times with another very loose-flowing jumper to get myself a kind of a funky triangle silhouette.
Hello Justine! My favourite piece of clothing is new to the season, a chiffon blouse. It is very colurful with the dominant colour green - which is ma fave colour. I am constantly moving, well I have an apartment in a city, a cottage on an little island and a owner of a van. I can often work remotely.I need a nce top when participating online meeyings, a couple of office wear and a small capsule to take with me. The best sustainable solution was to go 'merino wool'. The best! Now I wear breathable natural fibres. I wash them seldom (but they can be washed in mashine) using wool detergent. I often air my pieces. They do not need ironing and should be stored flat. I love them I have tested unbound merino clothes and now I buy northoutdoot merino clothes. On the top of my t-shirts and (sleeveless) dresses I wear my blouse. All the colours, such as olive green, black, rose red and pink match beautifully with this chiffong blouse. Happy 2024 challenge to you!
I totally get you about thrifting becoming a hoarding problem. When it’s cheap I can’t resist but it’s still overconsumption even if not as bad for the environment as buying new. I still struggle with buying too much and I feel online second apps like Vinted are actually making things worse for me
Sleeveless linen dresses and wide leg trousers in neutral colours because I live in a very warm climate. I also love vibrant colours and indian style embroidered and ornate clothes and gold or silver sandals, have tons of earrings and necklaces from decades ago and some vintage ones from my mother and aunts. I don’t know how to update but I love wearing this. I don’t understand new trends like showing your stomach, tucking half a shirt into your jeans or wearing pants 10 inches longer than your legs. 🤔 Loved your video! ❤
Favorite item currently: A black cashmere turtleneck. Goes with everything and looks sophisticated without even trying. In summer, I love my collection of second hand linen blouses / button down shirts.
Same , l added a winter white cashmere turtleneck sweater along with my black . This spring I'm adding a navy crew neck cashmere. Just can't beat this simply, clean dressing.
Favorite item: boucle cardigan jacket with trim. I made it using haute couture techniques. It has worn well over the years and never looks dated. I’m also really proud I made it!
I love this! I've been really into making knit and crochet vests. They're so easy in winter to layer and keep warm. The freedom of design when you make your own pieces is great. I get exactly what i want which also makes me feel more comfortable and confident in my clothes.
I have a pair with the pointy toes and they are torture. Within 15 minutes of wearing I have blisters on my heels. It’s the only pair of shoes I have ever worn that causes me to have that problem. I would love to hear from someone who has had that problem and how to fix it.
Have several pairs from them, especially love the sock boots in knee high. But not that keen on the flats, but had foot problems last year and needed flats....but I dont like any flats, so not the fault of the shoes/ brand. Also have the low heel, they are comfortable as well.
I have come to the conclusion that comfortable ballerinas do not exist 😂 but if you have to wear them choose a rounded model with a strap (Mary Jane), otherwise the only ballerina you don’t lose wearing is fitting super snug and uncomfortable in my experience
Hi Justine, my favourite piece in my wardrobe - is the jacket I'm about to sew. It took me a long long time to find the right fabric - and now I'm making a pattern for a Chanel inspired jacket to wear all spring, summer and autumn as an outer piece and in the winter under my coat instead of a cardigan. As I live in Denmark it's one of the colder countries in Europe - it'll be one garment I can use all year around. At the same time it's a small change to my classic wardrobe, as I found the most beautiful Chanel inspired fabric produced in Italy, just around the corner of where I live. 😊
Good ideas Justine! My fave items are the garments I make and sew myself! I use vintage patterns, as I prefer a vintage look outside of my everyday comfy wardrobe. I am self-taught with no formal training, but have always enjoyed sewing. Sadly, it is becoming a fading art and skill, as fewer people have these skills in modern times. I'd love to see you do a video about this (if you haven't already).
Good for you! I also sew my own garments using vintage patterns. We always look unique and receive many compliments. The newer styles do not compliment my curvy shape as well (too boxy). I would also like to see a video on the subject.
Hello Justine!!! I love your channel. You've managed to create a very safe space for all of us to come and learn about style without feeling judged and allowing us to know we deserve to look our best. Big shout out to you and thank you!❤ I'm a deep winter flamboyant natural (which I learned thanks to you!) And my favourite item in my wardrobe is my navy woolen cardigan. It's a staple that I can use with almost anything, and I love it because: - it's navy, so it looks great on me - it's made out of a fine knit wool, and I've found that wool is incredibly versatile and easy to care for (basically, all I have to do is air it a little bit and it never gets dirty), and since it's good quality it's going to last forever - it's rather unconstructed, with kimono type sleeves and I can wrap it around myself, and a little bit long. Great shape for a flamboyant natural! - I sewed it myself! I chose the fabric and the style I wanted, I made sure it fit me just the way I wanted it to and I made sure the finishings were just right. I love the way it looks and since I made it, I also feel positively attached to it. Have a great week! Greetings from the Basque Country 😘
I also want to say I was delighted to see that Vivaia is sponsoring you! I’ve worn their shoes for a couple of years - have pumps, boots, ballet flats. They are all so comfortable, and the ballet flats are machine washable!
Favorite item: pinafore dresses with pockets that can be worn over any combination of shirts/sweaters and trousers. As someone plus-size who tries to wear only natural fibers, it's taken years to build a wardrobe that not only fits but feels goth romantic.
How timely that you talk about updating one's style. I have visited Paris several times, and love Parisian fashion. Several months ago, I decided to add French flare to my aesthetic. I bought tees with stripes. I bought silk scarves. Just these items give my current wardrobe a fresh look or updated, or just different. I'm loving it. Thanks for your videos.
Justine, I am always so happy when you post a new video. I am also excited about the success of your latest launch. Your videos are great: thoughtful, inspiring, educational! Would you consider posting more videos (as you did in the past)? Your content is so refreshing!!!!!!!!!
My favorite item by far is a wine-red half-circle midi skirt that I bought 12 years ago from a local designer. It's just perfect! The color and the length (mid-knee) are flattering, it has a zipper so no weird scrunches at the waist. It's synthetic, which isn't always ideal but in this case it works well - machine washable and doesn't need to be ironed. Not see-through. I can dress it up or down depending on the occasion. And of course, two in-seam pockets that are deep enough for a phone and keys! Like I say, I've had it for over a decade and it's still in good shape, I'm lucky it still fits! 😊
My favorite winter piece is an orange, gray trimmed Kasper wool jacket that I purchased a few years ago at my favorite thrift store. I wasn't certain about the color, but loved the classic lines an hidden zipper closure. My daughter's immediate reaction and a complete stranger both gasped and said "You have to buy that! It looks fantastic on you!" Even now, whenever I wear it, people will stop and compliment me. Plus, being slightly loose fitted, it's so comfortable. And surprisingly, goes with nearly nearly everything in my closet.
favourite item worn every day. My home made Welsh wool apron that comes down well beneath my knees and though usually worn with long warm skirts when gardening I even wear it with trousers, It is water repellant , thorn resistant and warm. Perfect for walks and gardening and if I added a white linin one on top tidy enough to wear to market. It's traditional and distinctive and if I get caught without a hood can be a cape thrown over my hair in a storm. Has big pockets too.
Peach fuzz color washes me out but darker hue in salmon is good. Favorite piece is Hermes scarf because of the colors and workmanship. Adds class to any outfit.
0:13 All season faves..(Except Summer of course) are my beige trench n camel hair coat..that I've purchased 15 and 22 yrs ago. They elevate my most simplest outfit. I totally agree it only takes one piece to refresh a look !! I enjoy watching and listening to your updates. Thank You Justine!
Thank you for the information. It’s got me thinking. I’m a person with a small budget, who wants to use only natural fibers. Starting with a few core pieces of good quality, will take me awhile, but it’s my goal. I also have to be careful of “care” instructions. I am retired, and know myself well enough to know that handwashing means I’ll be in my Scarlet O’Hara mode; “I’ll think about it tomorrow.”! My statement pieces are my rings. I’ve been interested in gemstones and design from childhood. I have long, slim fingers, with long natural nails that I nail polish. During the 40 years of my working, I’ve accumulated many rings. Twice I bought a loose gemstone and had them set; a pale beautifully cut yellow citrine set in a high Tiffany white gold setting, and a large alexandrine set in a yellow gold slightly raised, very plain setting. Those were the days! I like to color coordinate with my clothing. Even now, when I rarely go out, I put my rings on in order to feel dressed! I’m very fortunate that even a ring from my 16th birthday, still fits
No peach fuzz for me, I'm not a fan of this colour. I like brighter colours. I'm a clear winter, so no surprise, I guess. I love a black denim jacket that I have had for about five years. The denim is a really soft, 100% cotton and fits me really well. Fabulous video, Justine. Thank you 🖤
I'm a spring, and I hate that color, too. Very wishy washy. I thought people were going to make fun of it, but I've only seen people act like it's the greatest color on earth. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Favorite item: a jacket with a unique, colorful, and non-repeating pattern. In the style of Picasso, it brings smiles all around. Wore it yesterday and 17 people complimented it. For more than 40 years, I have repaired and rejuvenated it and will never give it up. Second favorite: a cotton turtleneck tunic half rust and half black (vertical). Unintentionally I wore it for my driver's license photos over 16 years and plan to continue. Color motivates me above all else.
I find it hard to say which piece in my wardrobe is my favourite, because I have multiple pieces that I like for different outfits. I have for example two pairs of high waisted Levi's jeans, which are very practical and comfy so I wear them a lot. I also really love my high waisted skirt that I have sewn myself. I am really proud that I made it myself. It has large pockets, which I think is an amazing feature, since most women's clothing has either no pockets or pockets that suck. I also really love my red turtleneck, because it is simple and yet it has a dramatic color. Same thing goes for my bordeaux tights.
I managed to find several plus-sized maxi-pencil skirts that I love to mix and match with sweaters, vests, collared shirts etc. I can be mod or vintage in any of them. Great find!
My favorite piece in my wardrobe are my skirts….for everyday it’s my denim skirt then I have 4 travel skirts, 4 “work” skirts and 4 that I call my floaters…they are my go anywhere skirts. The tops, the dresses come and go but the skirts always remain.
My favorite item is my navy Veronica Beard blazer. This piece goes with so many items in my wardrobe and I always feel pulled together wearing a blazer.
Knee-high boots. I have one pair that, rather than a metal shank, have a thicker but hard rubber shank. They are SO COMFORTABLE! I can walk all day and my feet feel as comfortable as if I were wearing a pair of cushy sneakers. (Even better than sneakers, I can wear them in snow, slush, and puddles and my feet stay warm & dry.) I can wear multiple layers of socks and tights inside to keep toasty warm while wearing skirts and dresses. I can dress them up and dress them down. They are so versatile, functional, and comfortable.
Your comment about vintage styles we might like - or certain parts of them - got me thinking about the clothes that I have loved the most over the last 55 years. Why did I love them? The style? or colour? or fit? It gave me some good ideas of what I'd like to make this year. My favourite item currently is a thicker 100% cotton, long-sleeved, rust sweater. It is thick enough that it doesn't cling to every bulge but drapes nicely, just skimming over the figure. Has a boat neckline and curved hem. I am a very short, apple shaped person so it covers the middle bulge but is still nicely fitted through the shoulders. I have several multicoloured scarves that go with it and also a few necklaces.
My favorite item to wear is really a whole category of accessory- my mostly vintage scarves. Favorites are Vera Neumann and Echo brands. My clothes are all solid colors so the scarves add the spice. Learning new ways to tie them is a hobby. I find that several scarves from the collection of about 40 will enhance the vibrancy of any top I wear, no matter how new the tops are. Just this morning I wore a fairly-neglected scarf and it changed the whole look of the simple outfit. Friends give me scarves they inherit, some are from charity shops and some from Etsy sellers. I use Konmari’s method to store them and they take up very little space. P.s. I felt this was one of your most helpful videos to date.
My favourite item in my wardrobe are my jeans from & Other Stories. They are full length flares with patch pockets on the front. I think they give a 70s vibe and I love 70s fashion. I am a rectangle shape with long legs and a short body and I think that they really flatter my shape. They make me feel smart and elevated and whatever I put on with them, a white t-shirt or a shirt, with a blazer, I always feel a million dollars. Which basically is what your clothes should do for you!
I’m a gardener by passion but work in medicine as a calling. At work I try not to let my clothes take center stage but aim for a quiet chic. I have a Hermes scarf that’s in class taupe with blue, red, and green highlights. It was my first big statement piece and it goes with everything. I instantly look more put together without looking over the top or matronly . 😊
My favorite item is currently a pair of black trousers. I bought two of the same kind right after last Christmas and they suddenly brought together many existing pieces of my wardrobe and unified them in some sort of 90s minimalist aesthetic. This happened by accident though, didn't plan it.
My favourite item is a white cashmere crewneck sweater. Had it for 6 years. Soft, warm comfortable. Looks amazing both with classic styles as well as modern urban aesthetic.
My biggish silver and irregularly round pearl earrings. It always surprises me that my small, long, and narrow face looks better with larger earrings. I have worn these earrings 70% of the time for several decades. Lovely to see you, Justine. Cheers.
I don't have a favourite item. I've been going through serious health issues and have not recognized my own body. I think it's a sign of healing that I'm now following Justine to see what I can do in the future and perhaps even think about now. Thank you for always sharing such wonderful, sustainable advice!
My favorite type of item in my wardrobe is the sweater (especially now in winter, but it’s my favorite of all). It’s like a cozy hug. In summer, it would probably be a loose dress, maxi is best. The dress is a one-and-done piece, and I like simplicity.
Favorite item: my Loewe Puzzle. I know I know, but that bag goes with everything, is never fussy, and always strikes the right balance between casual/effortless and chic.
Such a great video! I'm in a state of transitioning my wardrobe right now, trying out new styles and letting go of old ways of thinking about clothes. For whatever reason I am gravitating to dark purple/plum at the moment. I haven't worn purple for years and suddenly I'm loving it again and seeing it everywhere. Also, lighter colors and peach. I've always thought I can't wear white, turnes out I just need to find the right shade and the peachy whites out now are actually much better for me than your regular white.
My fave is a vintage dark red sweater I got a couple years ago when I lived in China: cropped and perfectly sized, high-quality cashmere (never owned anything that good), and reminds me of the many great places I got to visit there, including that vintage shop in a neighborhood which was later entirely demolished to build new skyscrapers.
Just what I needed - I tried to Konmari my clothes, and realised I have barely anything that sparks joy. To the point that I would not have a functional wardrobe if I actually tossed out my 'No' pile. 😓 Time for an update! My favourite item at the moment, I think, is an off white crochet/knitted sweater. It have a V-neck, and is fairly short (though not cropped). It was not that expensive, but it falls really nicely, and make my legs look extra long in comparison. I also like to mix different textures in an outfit (actually, I think I got that from one of your old videos?), and it helps a lot with that. Because it is so 'open', it have been working great for winter with a basic black top underneath, but because of the shape, it might even work in spring or summer as well, paired with a skirt, or maybe some shorts.
My personal style has not changed in decades, but I do like to try new things and I am always open to the overlap of my style and the new thing. I love the shoes! That will be my next stop after I make another latte. Thank you Justine! 👏🏻 I got an oversized men’s vintage black leather biker jacket in a London shop decades ago. It was well used and well loved then. It is now in pretty bad shape, and despite multiple attempts by highly skilled craftsmen to, literally, keep it from falling apart to the point of being unwearable, that is exactly what it is doing. I wear it anyway. Nothing compares… nothing.
Congrats on reaching 1M subscibers. I have watched you for several years and have learned so much. My fave video is the one on fast fashion and have schooled my daughter accordingly. My favorite piece of clothing this fall has been a pair of black wide leg Eileen Fisher pants. They are comfortable, made of thick knitted material, and go with everything.
Merci, Justine! I love the idea of introducing & incorporating a disruptive piece into our wardrobe. Along with many others on this thread, I'm on the peach-avoidance train, so I won't be introducing that any time soon. Or possibly ever. Current favorite item: very light & rather voluminous down coat that feels like walking around in a cozy black cloud. Perennial favorite: any one of my silk scarves, preferably square, preferably at least 30 inches (US). Among the most versatile & practical items in any wardrobe. I'm never without one, even if it's folded into a tiny square in my bag.
Great tips! I will definitely try them and find out what I can make work for my wardrobe. My favourite item is a black asymmetrical Jil Sander Blazer which is made of a wool blend. It is a real workhorse in my closet because it goes with anything (colour), it is expressive (cut and asymmetrical shape, overlong sleeves) and it is easy to wear because it whatever creases it gets over the day once you hang it up it loses them very quickly.
I always change things based on the color of the year. So far, I have updated my phone case, the shoelaces to my favorite shoes, my winter hat, my everyday nail polish, and even the wreath on my front door to represent Peach Fuzz. My favorite item right now is my red and black flannel shirt. Very useful for these colder months.
Favorite item group: My ponchos and shawls. They are wonderful to have at my workplace where I often feel colder than my coworkers. I can easily put them on. They make great statement pieces. Come in lots of different styles; chunky knitted, smooth, embellished with beadwork, etc. And, I can find them in natural fibers like cotton, cashmere, bamboo, etc. This is important to me as I am such a staticky person that I will short circuit my work computer if I wear synthetic fibers (plus they make me feel miserable). And, thank you for the video. It was refreshing to be introduced to thinking about it this way! I enjoy customization, so this introduction to how to pick, look, and choose appealed to me more than just trying to follow trends right out of the box.
I've been planning a wardrobe update for a while. I've been picking a few pieces here and there from sustainable brands and was actually planning on getting some shoes from Vivaia. I also want to do some big, over-sized sweaters and hoodies Berlin style. As for my favorite piece. I have an electric blue, boat neck, 3/4 sleeve shirt I absolutely love. It highlights all my best features and slims me down.
My favorite item is a ballet wrap cardigan. Or cardigans, I have them in a couple of colours but love the way they are knitwear, warm and still emphasise my waist.
My favorite piece are my relaxed asana pants from Ninepine. I can wear them literally all week long. They work for sports, for leisure and for a business look.
My favourite piece in my wardrobe is a sapphire crucifix which I wear almost on a daily basis. It reminds me of Jesus' sacrifice for my sins, it looks beautiful; and it's re-purposed sapphires from a ring that was my Great Aunt's, which my Mum had a jeweller fashion into the crucifix and matching earrings for my birthday 💙✝️💙
I adore your channel and I’m so glad you are still making videos with great, thoughtful content. Lovely. My favorite item this past winter has been a square, tan, cashmere scarf. I fold it diagonally, put the longest side in front of my neck, and tuck the ends around my neck, and back under the front- similar to a western handkerchief. It adds instant warmth, elevation to any outfit, casual or dressy, and the color works perfectly with my wardrobe. Best of all, it fits easily in my bag, so it can always be there for me when I need it. It inspired me to let go of many less versatile scarves in my collection, now being only 1 of 3 remaining.
I have a few favourite items: - My tailored bright green blazer is perfect for throwing on top of any outfit to make it pop - can wear it even with a sweater underneath for the winter - My pastel blue maxi dress that's my go-to for being a wedding guest. It's comfy, elegant but doesn't stand out too much. Dressed down with a sweater and flats it's great for parties. - My white dress shirt with lace detailing. I inherited it from my husband's late grandmother and it just goes so well with basically everything I own whether for business or casual wear. It was tailor made for her in 1960's West Germany and it's been washed so frequently but still looks brand new.
Favourite item: small "Spikeme" Valentino crossbody/shoulder bag in black. It's like "the" Chanel bag, but edgy. The studs are very dark and only noticeable at a second glance. No logos. The puffy texture is fun to touch. The lock is sturdy and I never worry about someone opening it in a crowd without me noticing. Looks good with almost any outfit, and elevates it in a low-key way. One of my best purchases ever.
Favorite piece: oversized wool moss-like cardigan with manual embrodery of big bright pink flowers. it has a lot of personality and unfortunately I wore it out (more than 5 years of constant use. good think it's good quality 😅) and I am having a hard time letting it go. it makes me feel like a young girl with the soul of an old lady.
My favourite item right now is a grey mockneck sweater. It's super cozy, has zips along the side to make it looser and flowier, and also has a detachable turtleneck. It can be worn so many different ways so it always feels interesting. In summer, my favourite item is a pair of heeled sandal clogs. The wood platform sole gives me some height and looks very chic, while keeping my feet cool. :)
A few years ago I found a peach tunic/shirt that matches my skin exactly! Since I take care of my clothes, I still have it. How coincidental that it is now the colour of the year! I recently purchased a gradient yarn with a slightly darker peach that will coordinate with the shirt and also contains ivory and lilac. It will be a nice addition for the cool spring days.
My goal for this year is to try and style pieces from when I was working in an office to a more casual style. I refuse to part with some of them because they are such good quality and I like them. Not necessarily the business suits but some separates like blazers, skirts and dressier trousers. Life should be more than just sweats!
Me too! - and I have the same considerations about keeping the quality pieces. So far, I found out that adding bulky/casual knits worked wonders on even the dressiest pieces - must figure out what to do when the weather gets warmer, though 😁
My favorite item by far is a London tailored classic jacket that can be worn as a suit or on its own ( I mostly do) , as a jacket or instead of a coat ( as it’s slightly longer - arms length ) and it makes anything look classy and elegant. Second favorite item - the pearls 😊
*video request* Hello Justine. Love your videos and have been following you for years. Thanks so much for such fashion wisdom! I have a video request :) the work I do requires active, outdoor wear that could easily be ruined by mud etc. was wondering if you could suggest ways of dressing well, whilst still needing to be active in nature and the outdoors. Thanks so much :) kindest
My current favorite item is a pashmina scarf. The heating at work is unpredictable and I can arrange the scarf accordingly. Also, being someone who is busty, but hates wearing bras, scarves are great for preserving the delicate sensibilities of those around me while not compromising my own comfort.
When I first watched this, I got confused as I was introduced to capsule wardrobe by Justine and I'm really happy with my current minimalistic one (rather than going into consumerism) . But come to think of it, capsule wardrobe is one of many fashion approaches as well as it can make use of any colors =) I’m not confused now, while I’m not planning to go away from my well beloved set of clothes ^^
I do have a lot of pieces I like a lot and the common theme for them is that they are nice on the skin, they communicate what I want in a given situation and they are in good condition. (And I sewed many of them myself, so they fit me better than many RTW clothes, due to my proportions.) My current favourite is a pair of sweatpants I sewed myself that has an interesting design detail (which I like). I also used a fabric with a print that's quite tongue in cheek (which I like for the situations I wear sweatpants in).
Hello, Justine. I'm a man so you might plan to exclude me from any tally you do for the next video, but I thought I'd try to answer your question about favorite clothing or accessory that I wear regularly. I did a major revamp of my clothes during the covid shutdown and got rid of so many items that fit poorly and couldn't be saved by a tailor, or had an unflattering color or look. So I finally find myself in the lucky position of generally liking almost all of my clothes. That makes it hard to choose a favorite item, though! Excluding outerwear (coats, scarves, hat) and "fancier" items I don't wear every day (sport coat, pocket square), still leaves me with shoes, socks, and pants! My best socks feel luxurious and have a lovely variety of color, but they wear out quickly, so drop them. Shoes are long-lasting and a joy, but I now have many of them and cannot choose just one - like socks, the joy is in matching them to outfit, mood, and so on. So that leaves pants - where I have a clear champion: a favorite pair of corduroy pants. I wear them probably once a week. They are incredibly soft and comfortable but also look quite good - the corduroy gives them some flair. And the color is such that it goes with many other items in my wardrobe. Plus, it was trying to buy a decent pair of pants that began my big overhaul of my wardrobe. So there you have it! Thank you for your videos - even though you don't cover men's fashion, I enjoy learning from you what I can. Kind regards -
My favourite piece now is a golden-blue bomber jacket I have been deciding on nearly two years (on a bit pricier side for my budget, although definitely not a splurge, like a designer piece). Finally had some extra $$$, bought it and everytime I wear it (not that often tho), I get compliments on it. Great video, great pieces of advice, thank You!
Excellents conseils, Justine.
Thanks for the video, Justine - insightful as always! My favourite item currently is a wool sweater. I have several of those in different thickness, colours and styles - plain, drop-shoulder, raglan, cabled, etc. so can match the occasion whether at home, office or socialising. It is easy to style them with either trousers, jeans, or even skirts and dresses, combine with collared shirts and match with different shoes and accessories to achieve a completely different look with the same item. Also, very comfy and warm in this cold winter! :)
Sleeveless black maxi dress from Land's End, in a fairly thin blend. Wear it year round, dress it up, dress it down, boots or sandals. And it has pockets!
Always superb quality content. I should state that I see a very elegenctual french woman with a mind of a german. I also generalize. You are timeless, priceless, you are a force of greatness. I mean that and it's a statement I would do to any of your videos. That's what is passing through my screen.
My favorite ítem... a vintage utility vest, my father was a boy scout in the 80s and gave it to me last year. I like to throw the vest over a casual outfit to get the spacious pockets. I tailored the thing to fit me better at the waist. It also has scout camp patches and a couple more I've added myself
Pajamas! I love when the day is done and it is PJ time! :-) But, during the day, I love my simple silk tank dress. It drapes so nicely and dresses up or styles down with ease.
My favorite item is a knee-length skirt which I randomly bought online 10+ years ago :) it has this remarkable print of houses on a canal (I'd say a whole cityscape of Amsterdam or Copenhagen maybe), it's in purple-grey-blue palette and goes well with almost any top. It has a purely romantic vibe (but it's fine with me) and I literally take it on trips because it proved to be a life-saver :)
Current favorite item: cropped wide leg jeans I bought on sale last year. They have the perfect amount of stretch so they double as lounge pants but are easy to make presentable if I need to run to town. Also, I am fairly tallish(5’8”) and this style looks very good on me.
Hi Justine, I'm with JoUkelelea. My favorite these days are my waterproof boots I just got from Blondo. They are black (goes with everything) and have a lug sole which is great for ice and snow here in NY. Not surprising that I build a look around my footwear since I grew up in a shoe store. I can dress them up or down and you know when your feet feel good, you rock whatever your outfit is. Love from NYC xoxog
I trust Blondo to keep dry and warm! Love their ankle boots! I looked for years to find something good, comfortable, & waterproof, and immenently wearable. They elevate my look in rainy weather! ❤
Favorite item: a brown, cotton velvet Nygard coat; it is embroidered with fat cabbage roses in muted shades or mauve, plum, sage, etc. It has the feel of russian traditional clothing. I waited forever for this coat to be discounted to a price point I could afford and I have worn it so long now that my 'price per use' is in the negative. It always looks chic, unique, and makes a statement.
My absolute favorite piece is an A-shaped dress with a V-neck. Covers the knees well, has no sleeves and is fantastically simple. Almost all of my outfits start with it (I have it twice), and I add whatever I feel like today. I have a capsule wardrobe with about 30 items, and the mix does it.
1M subscribers!!! Congratulations Justine!!! I’m proud to say I caught on to your genius when you had 20k… and I knew then that you would blow up! Thank you for all your much needed help and advice! 🎉🎉🎉

As a Winter the worst color for me is "Peach" 🤣
Agreed. Instead, I am incorporating more White.
Ugh same!
Lol. My immediate reaction. Are you freaking kidding me? That's like the single most unflattering color for someone with a cool+bright coloring 💀
saaaame !
Summer here and totally agree as well 😂
Hello Justine.
I just loved reading your comment. I was smiling and cheering you on throughout
I love clothes that are reminiscent of ballet wear and costumes. There’s something so elegant, feminine, and playful about them.
I totally get you about thrifting becoming a hoarding problem. When it’s cheap I can’t resist but it’s still overconsumption even if not as bad for the environment as buying new. I still struggle with buying too much and I feel online second apps like Vinted are actually making things worse for me
You are brilliant! You must have a very good eye for what suits you.
Congratulations on 1M subs Justine! I knew you would do it! I love your channel.
thank you!!!
Favorite item currently: A black cashmere turtleneck. Goes with everything and looks sophisticated without even trying. In summer, I love my collection of second hand linen blouses / button down shirts.
I’ve been looking for a quality cashmere black turtleneck. Where did you buy yours? Thank you
I get complements on my black turtle neck every time!
Same , l added a winter white cashmere turtleneck sweater along with my black . This spring I'm adding a navy crew neck cashmere. Just can't beat this simply, clean dressing.
@@amandas8349 I bought several cashmere pieces on Poshmark for bargain prices. One is a thick knit cashmere mock turtleneck.
maybe Johnstons of Elgin has or WoolOvers
No turtleneck for me!😅@@amandas8349
Favorite item: boucle cardigan jacket with trim. I made it using haute couture techniques. It has worn well over the years and never looks dated. I’m also really proud I made it!
What color?
I love this! I've been really into making knit and crochet vests. They're so easy in winter to layer and keep warm. The freedom of design when you make your own pieces is great. I get exactly what i want which also makes me feel more comfortable and confident in my clothes.
I’d love to see a photo of it!
I saw other youtubers talk about Vivaia but I wasn’t convinced 6:41 . Now that the brand has Justine’s stamp of approval, I’ll give them a try
I have two pair and love them!
the same for me!
How exciting
As a fellow maker - I love this! It’s so satisfying!
wow sounds fabulous !
I love all kind of scarves ! So versatile and an easy way to add colors and patterns !
very true!
Big shout out to you and thank you!❤
I'm a deep winter flamboyant natural (which I learned thanks to you!) And my favourite item in my wardrobe is my navy woolen cardigan. It's a staple that I can use with almost anything, and I love it because:
- it's navy, so it looks great on me
- it's made out of a fine knit wool, and I've found that wool is incredibly versatile and easy to care for (basically, all I have to do is air it a little bit and it never gets dirty), and since it's good quality it's going to last forever
- it's rather unconstructed, with kimono type sleeves and I can wrap it around myself, and a little bit long.
Lots of good reasons to cherish that cardigan!
I also want to say I was delighted to see that Vivaia is sponsoring you! I’ve worn their shoes for a couple of years - have pumps, boots, ballet flats. They are all so comfortable, and the ballet flats are machine washable!
I need a wide toe box - do you think these would suit?
@@Queenread82I'm wondering the same thing. Their site recommends ordering a size larger if you have wide feet.
@@Queenread82I’ve also wondered about wide feet and these shoes
Favorite item: pinafore dresses with pockets that can be worn over any combination of shirts/sweaters and trousers. As someone plus-size who tries to wear only natural fibers, it's taken years to build a wardrobe that not only fits but feels goth romantic.
Oh I love that idea! Do you have a blog or something where you post about your style?
Have you seen son de flors pinafore’s? Love those.
Thank you so much!
Amazing! It was meant to be.
favourite item worn every day.
not for me either in clothing, but maybe in home decor...?
i am also not a fan, but as a warm undertone it actually works like a nude on me, i was surprised
@hypatiakovalevskayasklodow9195 I'm glad you risked trying & could see that!
I love Blazers too and they give style to a very simple outfit. I used to have to wear them at work and I was happy to do so.
greetings from Paris
My Wool/Cashmere camel coloured coat is my favourite item. It is classic and warm. Best of all I thrifted it for £20 Cancer Research. I love it.❤
My favourite item is a white cashmere crewneck sweater.
Yo'ure not alone ❤
Thank you!@@niceclaup1
I do hope that you will get the joy of dressing in a way that mirrors you when you belly-laugh at a good joke!
I feel the same about my Loewe Flamenco 😍 These are such great bags - still thinking about the Puzzle Mini as well 😄
Such a great video!
My favorite item right now is my Coclico Midori Boots. Go with everything and super comfy
My favorite item right now is a cashmere wrap. It makes me feel hugged by its plush softness and warmth.
My personal style has not changed in decades, but I do like to try new things and I am always open to the overlap of my style and the new thing.
I love the shoes! That will be my next stop after I make another latte. Thank you Justine! 👏🏻
I got an oversized men’s vintage black leather biker jacket in a London shop decades ago.
Buffalo plaid? Yea! Shirley in Texas
My flare jeans and my purejill cashmere blend dress.. It is simple- just the right length and it feels yummy. I always feel pretty when i wear it. 🥰
What a splendid idea for shoes!!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
Always so glad when Justine puts up a video🥰
My favourite are my linen balloon trousers!
My favorite item in my wardrobe is my scarf. Can't live without it in the colder months and it matches practically every outfit!
@hummiebubs6967 You have good shopping skills. Is it your best neutral?
Great, I like this video tоо 19.03
My favourite piece in my wardrobe is a sapphire crucifix which I wear almost on a daily basis. It reminds me of Jesus' sacrifice for my sins, it looks beautiful; and it's re-purposed sapphires from a ring that was my Great Aunt's, which my Mum had a jeweller fashion into the crucifix and matching earrings for my birthday 💙✝️💙
My favorite piece in my wardrobe is blazers because it give me a better shape and it define the rest of the outfit
Comfortable dresses are my favorite part of my wardrobe
I have a few favourite items:
- My tailored bright green blazer is perfect for throwing on top of any outfit to make it pop - can wear it even with a sweater underneath for the winter
- My pastel blue maxi dress that's my go-to for being a wedding guest.
My favorite piece is a ditzy floral corduroy dress. It's above the knees and looks great with tights
What a great idea!
@@CreaNedda1, try see-throughs for summer 😊
Forgot to say, I’m approaching retirement, and love your idea of repurposing my business wardrobe!
My light pink Puma sneakers and matching cross body bag are 2 of my favorite pieces right now.
My favorite item by far is a London tailored classic jacket that can be worn as a suit or on its own ( I mostly do) , as a jacket or instead of a coat ( as it’s slightly longer - arms length ) and it makes anything look classy and elegant. Second favorite item - the pearls 😊
My favourite item (winter) is my purple over the ankle boots 👢💜
*video request*
Hello Justine.
I'd like a video like this too! Please 😀
Favorite item- longish white blazer, works (summertime) with dresses, trousers, anything and always looks fresh
My favorite item in my wardrobe is jeans! I wear them almost every day, even to work since it's just versatile to pair with any type of tops.
Kind regards -
The color of the year is really pretty. ❤ My favorite (and most versatile) wardrobe item is a denim jacket with feminine pleats up the front.
black chelsea boots!!
they go w everything!!
Thank you for the video! My favourite item that I can always wear and not get tired of are my 501 Levi's straight-leg jeans.
Favorite item is and will always be 2 pieces I got from my Gran. 1 a red blazer, and 2 a fit n flare black tailored skirt.
👍🏻 Good to see you again on TH-cam.
Hi Justine, Thanks for the videos.
I'm excited that peach is the color this year since it looks great on me
Favorite item: a brown, cotton velvet Nygard coat; it is embroidered with fat cabbage roses in muted shades or mauve, plum, sage, etc. It has the feel of russian traditional clothing. I waited forever for this coat to be discounted to a price point I could afford and I have worn it so long now that my 'price per use' is in the negative. It always looks chic, unique, and makes a statement.
Support ❤
My absolute favorite piece is an A-shaped dress with a V-neck. Covers the knees well, has no sleeves and is fantastically simple. Almost all of my outfits start with it (I have it twice), and I add whatever I feel like today. I have a capsule wardrobe with about 30 items, and the mix does it.
1M subscribers!!! Congratulations Justine!!! I’m proud to say I caught on to your genius when you had 20k… and I knew then that you would blow up! Thank you for all your much needed help and advice! 🎉🎉🎉
you're very welcome and THANK YOU for being here since the early days! 😍
