Could you put better breaks like mt5s or Surron breaks on this bike?

Nah, i mean you cab get a rotor off the mototec to put on the front and somehow adapt a mtb caliper to it. But the rear brake is on the right side and the caliper cant be flipped since its a legit pitbike brake.
