    The rain has to do with the rehabilitation of the island. It happened to us here in cagayan when we were devastated by the typhoon lawin category 5. The rain helped in growing the trees and plants that are washed away and destructed. And also, you can catch waters from the rain.

      I think it more that the shear line of Amihan is now in your area. We had it in the last week's in Masbate with a lot of rain and now we have sunshine. The positive side is that it will move more south to Mindanao and you will have a dry and hot season ahead... The Nature will recover very soon when l see our grass growing every month....

    My husband and I have been watching your videos and have been subscribers for more than a year now. We love watching Story and we appreciate that you share with the world the excellent ways in which you are bringing her up. But nothing tops your positive attitude and resilience in the face of the major destruction brought on by the typhoon Odette. I am truly amazed at the way you have recovered immediately from such a major disaster. You and the entire island are in my prayers. I grew up in Manila but is now in California. When I was a kid, a very strong typhoon lifted the entire roof of our house and landed elsewhere. We put up a tent inside the roofless house and we continued to live like that until the roof was repaired. As a kid, that was my reality and was a bit oblivious but your experience reminded me of that time. Pls continue making great videos.

    I can relate .. If there's heavy rains I feel some fear because we experience some bad flooding during ONDOY here in Metro Manila .. That is why I have to pray Everyday for protection from these natural calamities .. God has been merciful and heard our prayers. Our prayers are with you and all victims of this Super typhoon ..

    ask them to install storm shutters. it doesn't matter how thick the glass is unless its more than 2 inches thick it will break during a typhoon. Storm shutters that you can take on and off would be a great solution. I'm surprised they didn't even put plywood over your windows before the typhoon hit. that's pretty much basic typhoon knowledge.

    • @josepolotan6899
      @josepolotan6899 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Agree 100%. If I may suggest, you can still put shutters over your windows. That'll relieve you of worrying if the winds will shatter the glass and, at least, prevent the water coming in so you don't need to spend time drying everything out. Hang in there, guys!

    Applaud to your landlord for working hard to do the repairs and quite fast i think ! Ur residence now looking at ur blogs..still the safest and strong even with some damages and its way high in the hill. Just stay put and keep blogging and show the world the progress of things there .. just like good journalists that goes with storm to report the real situation in the world. You guys were the same…. The fact that window was replaced…it only means there Are contractors working there now…. This is real life lessons that makes one stronger emotionally physically equipped to face any trials ! Just like I said earlier….you guys should be grateful to be Healthy and strong and still safe ! Count your blessings ! You can also watch Nomadic movement who moved to Panama with nothing …no water, no electricity and they were able to build a home …very inspiring !!!! Keep going Forward Siargao will recover !!!

    Now you know how resilient Filipinos are. We've been hit, battered by all kinds of catastrophe over and over again, and still we can show some smile to others. I know that it'll take a while for the eight islands to recover including siargao where you at, but rest assured the mystical island of the Philippines will be back, don't know when but it will be back. Prayers for your family, Jay, Sacha and Story.

    • @Kapefrappe
      @Kapefrappe 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@huyleeching2207 plywood is expensive but the glass windows are more expensive. You can use the materials you mentioned as long as there's no gape the air can circumnavigate in. You don't think about the cost, you think about how much more you can save. I'm sure they can afford the plywoods. If they can't find any in the island, then use the alternative.

    You're hanging on beautifully. Don't worry about the palms, they'll always grow back. We're getting a lot of cold and rainy weather this "amihan" season because it's a La Niña year. It'll moderate at around March and then...
    You made the right choice to stay where you are, this cold season is flu season everywhere else in the country, and especially the Manila area. At least one drug manufacturer has already announced an...ahem...over-demand of paracetamol. (Not a shortage; our "very transparent" Health Department does not want to call it that.)
    Then there's Omicron, but it's really a flash in the pan. CDC statements and reports from South Africa indicate that it tends to infect only the upper respiratory tract but not the lungs. Yes, it's highly transmissible and could cause breakout infections among the fully vaxxed, but folks who get it are either asymptomatic, or don't suffer any severe symptoms, or get hospitalized for far less severe symptoms than Delta and earlier variants. Omicron mortality could potentially be very low.
    With continuous vaccine/booster administration as well as strict adherence to health protocols, Summer is still on schedule and people are still going to want to go to Siargao. Siargao is going to be back and you'll be there.
    Just keep on keeping on, and stay safe and healthy. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and everyone affected by Odette.

    The best thing for you to do is cover a tarp from the outside to cover the window and secure tightly to avoid the draft or water coming in. I’m from the Philippines living here in the UK now. But I grew up with that weather and my father used to do that.

    Whenever i'm experiencing shortcomings and difficulties in life. I always told told myself, "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger". It's very true, and it gives me a new and brighter perspective in life, learning how to appreciate simple things. Carry on beautiful family. Your are doing the right thing for inspiring others.

    You may be right that your wind block is now gone so it will seem wetter than normal. However, it is the surfing capital of the Philippines so wind is normal there. The window sealing will definitely help. The big big window couldn't have come any sooner... Thank God 🙏🏼
    Your family has suffered such a traumatic experience, which will take time to recover.
    You are in my prayers. I can't help but praise and be amazed by the resiliency of the Philippinos. It is likely reflective of their living a lifetime of typhoons. They continue to smile and support each other.
    Based on your early videos regarding the typhoon, things are clearly getting better, albeit slowly. I commend you for efforts. It is amazing. You will get through this 🤗😊🙏🏼

    It's a very different world without this century's finest amenities but some good points have been made about handling the 'population masses' vs where your at. Glad to hear that fresh foods and water supplies are picking up... is it possible for you to get your hands on a bigger generator? That might allow you guys more comfort while your regular power lines are rebuilt. They do make smaller floor models of air conditioning for around 300$ it might also be a good idea to order one soon as there are nation wide waiting lists for lots of everyday self sufficient items like this. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

    It really is a happy new year. You had your windows installed, had a water tank, and a glove shower which is truly innovative. I guess it's a memorable new year though quite difficult as you say.
    Recovery may have been a lot faster if the people started fixing things rather than moving out. We don't run from problems, we face them. You are a role model to the community.
    Story is so cute with that toy monkey she is holding. Seeing all of you smiling is truly heartwarming.
    Happy new year to your family and to all your subscribers. May this new year bring good cheers to everyone!

    living in luzon we often experience typhoon i suggest upgrade it to stronger window glass and put somekind of shutters or metal roll-ups when there's a storm or typhoon it will be well protected or strong wood to cover your glass windows
