Aftermath is a deleted chapter for Gears of War 3 that is included in Gears of War: Judgment. The chapter puts you in the shoes of Baird and Cole Train and takes place alongside Gears 3. It's short since it's only one chapter, but we know you guys will want to see this as part of the story as well. Hope you enjoy!

At some point during Aftermath, the squad arrives at the place of a statue of Col. Ezra Loomis, who had Kilo squad tried during Judgment. One more of those ironies of war GoW does such a great job portraying.

Later on in gears 3, Carmine does in fact help out with defeating that huge bug in what do you know, a raven 😂
Yeah but they came with a whole bunch of reinforcements from the COG and Gorasnya, including several King Ravens. Carmine actually wasn't seen for awhile in the game until that point even when Baird, Cole and the others arrived to help. Most of those reinforcements, including the Commander Marcus was communicating with on Azura, were Gorasni, Paduk's people. He's from the Republic of Gorasnya, an enemy country to the COG who didn't accept the Armistice weeks before E-Day that ended the nearly 80 year long Pendulum Wars over Imulsion. In Gears of War: Jacinto's Remnant, the COG encounters the remnants of Gorasnya, make peace and end up living together for awhile while fighting off Stranded and the Lambent before they are forced to abandon the island and the COG dissolves. The events of those books are mentioned in the games, particularly when they fight the Lambent Leviathan in the beginning of Gears 3 and Baird comments how he once killed a glowie Leviathan. He really did with the Hammer of Dawn and he really did accidentally destroy part of the base in the process.

Jared Richard Judgement was absolutely horrendous. By far the worst gears game. The campaign was terrible and Karn was a terrible boss. It’s just a shame after Cliffy B left the franchise went to shit. I have so many good memories playing gears it pains me to see how it is now.

Judgment is a game where the norm is this - short chapters, ass-load of locust. And I do mean ass-load. Not to mention the game throws the Gears timeline all out of whack for several reason, three of which stand out to me:
1. Baird never was a Lieutenant. The highest he ever got in the Gears universe was a Corporal before he "left" the COG. Look it up on the wiki for his actual history.
2. Kantus weren't encountered until Gears of War 2. There are throughout Judgment's campaign like holes in swiss cheese.
3. Each level is essentially ass-load of locust: drones (which have gnashers now, mind you), boomers (was the Queen in heat or something?), Tickers, Wretches and Maulers - oh and Shriekers (where's the fucking Tempest?).
Those are my reasons; I was trying to be a smartass. Quite literally there is nothing spectacular about this game apart from the new weapons (which, were admittedly, very badass - the Markza for example). Other than that the game was no different than story-based version of Horde with sections of that stupid mode that replaced it in this. What was it called again?

He isn't wearing a mask you dolt, that's part of his helmet, IE THE AIRFILTER PART. Go look at a picture of him and you'll see what you think is the mask is actually just part of his helmet.

Actually not true. She met Marcus years before in the preparations for the Battle of Aspho Fields where the COG stole the Hammer of Dawn technology from the UIR. Anya, then only a cadet, also acted as Control at the request of her mother who was a legendary COG Major. Both Anya's mother and Dom's brother Carlos were killed in that battle. In Gears of War: The Slab, its revealed that she and Marcus subsequently began a relationship that lasted 12 years until he went to prison but the relationship was strained for a number of reasons including that it had to be secret as she was an officer and he was only enlisted which was against the rules. However, it was pretty much an open secret and everyone really knew. After the Sinking of Jacinto, Anya expressed interest in going frontline instead of riding a desk which Colonel Hoffman granted.

Judgement (and Gears Tactics) is a prequel to Gears 1. I thought the same thing when I first heard Judgement was released.

Yes all the C.O.G helmets have built in gas masks, filtration systems, and a bunch of other shit.
Built in filtration, not gas mask. Filters don’t last long, so it would be impractical to have them on all the time.
Looks like the gas mask is designed to plug into helmets.

So I see it as Baird letting the deranged maniac out of his sight, leaving him to his meaningless grudge and more than probably meaningless demise, while he helped save what was left of the human race and became one of the most important post-war figures.

Aftermath would've been so much better if they just incorporated it into the Gears of War 3 campaign, the long stretch between Act 3 and 5 just feels lifeless and dull without Baird or Cole (not to mention the one part of the game where you play as Cole feeling very out of place).
Whenever I replay the Gears 3 campaign I play Aftermath as well concurrently, the night time part after Act III and the day time part after Act IV

Its only on Judgment as far as I know and its actually not a DLC: you unlock it by beating the main campaign game.

I know Rob Auten, one of Judgement's writers has gone on record and said that her fate is currently up in the air (he even went to the Gears Wikipedia to edit it to reflect that), but it would be nice to know the book that marked her fate, as horrible as it might be.

It's not a DLC, it's part of the full game.
Its not a DLC its part of Judgment and is unlockable by getting 40 Stars. Typically you just have to beat the main campaign game to get enough stars to unlock it.

He was in judgement, in both campaigns actually, he was a former cog soldier
He's a main character, yeah. The main part of the game (there's two campaigns, the main one and Aftermath which is what this is) takes place 6 weeks after Emergence Day and features Kilo Squad defending Halvo Bay from a Locust attack. That squad is made up of Baird (a Lieutenant at the time), Cole, Sofia (whose only mentioned in Aftermath) and Paduk who was originally an enemy soldier, but joined the COG after his country was destroyed by General Karn, the Locust General who was the main bad guy of Judgment. To stop General Karn, Kilo decides to use the Lightmass Missile, but is ordered not to by Colonel Loomis. When they disobey orders and do it anyway, Loomis puts them on trial for it with the game acting as a flashback during each of their testimonies. Karn, who survived the Missile attack, leads an attack on the courthouse ending with Kilo and Loomis killing his ride Shibboleth in the game's final boss battle. Karn is then executed by Loomis who drops the charges but demotes Baird back to Private for his actions. Off-screen, the Battle of Halvo Bay continues and it eventually falls with Loomis dying in the battle. Paduk apparently left the COG with Sofia shortly after the battle.
Weird that it looks like Gears 3 in every way, but has the controls of Judgement. Kinda wish it was just in 3, but it's still cool.
