    I miss being a flight attendant for American eagle and the countless layovers in champaigne, watching all these original tail numbers bring back so many memories ❤

      Honestly they were quite simple lol, I love being in quiet cozy towns where I don't know anyone.

    i used to fly the 145 many times from ORD to YYZ some times it was the MD-88

    I remember having a similar feeling when the AA MD-80 stopped flying to FAT many years ago. I had to go to Washington DC every year and I’d always connect in DFW using the AA MD-80 and since then, we’re getting 737-800s and soon A321s this year to DFW 4-5 times a day which is a huge difference compared to the 2 daily MD-80s we got years ago. I love the 738s and A321s, but they’re not the same as the MD-80s I grew up with 🥲

      Nothing these days compares to the MD80’s and 757’s. Times are changing too fast!

    Awww...I lbve the Embraer 145. Had no idea they were going away or did not notice. Sitting at the back is the best to hear the engines. Great video, everything was well explained.

    As a former ERJ145 Flight Attendant I can tell you why the Sink wasn't working. If it was too cold the potable water tank wasn't filled so there wouldn't be and running water in the sink. We don't generally fill the potable water tanks below freezing as it will freeze the tank and cause damage to the plane.

    Champaign is such a cool airport, what an honor it is to be the last DFW ERJ-145 route from American! Really hoping Einstein Bros makes their return soon. The ERJ-145 is super cool. Glad you have this opportunity to fly on it. Really well done with this video! Hearing the tires hit the bumps on the runway is a cool experience for sure when you're used to hearing the engines buzz. Loved the trip report!

    At my home base OMA, the 145 almost always just goes to/from ORD; historically DFW was more of a Fokker and MD80 route. Post US Airways merger and of course post Fokker and MD80 retirement, I don't see The Mosquito on our tarmac anymore.

    Awesome trip report. The reason they dont give wifi and power is because most legs on a 145 are very short with no need for it. They also plan on getting rid of the 145's (thank god) for the 175.

    • @ASAviation
      @ASAviation  ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly. But CRJ700’s and CRJ900’s fly similar routes, some as short as 20-30min flights, yet they have WiFi and power. And yes the 175 is replacing it which is good as here in CMI we finally get a first class offering.

  • @jasonmoors1191
    @jasonmoors1191 ปีที่แล้ว

    Got a laugh from me when you were startled by that UPS MD-11 scooting by! It seems the 145's in general don't use reverse thrust nor do they have leading edges that extend/retract--were you still on winter break when you made this journey?

    As a Champaign local, I have to ask, what will be used to fly CMI-ORD and other 20-30 minute routes like it out of O’Hare once the 145s are gone?

    • @ASAviation
      @ASAviation  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most likely the E170’s. That won’t happen till 2025 since the 145 will continue serving our Chicago flights till then.

    • @anthonyscarborough3813
      @anthonyscarborough3813 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ASAviation They’re definitely comfier than the the 145, but the 145 will be missed. I just hope that doesn’t mean American cuts the Chicago-Champaign route because the 170 can’t keep up with low demand on the route.
      For better or worse tho, the Embraer 145 is one of two planes that defined my childhood, along with the Boeing 727.

    • @ASAviation
      @ASAviation  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@anthonyscarborough3813 for sure. American will never cut ORD-CMI or CMI period because of the university. Too many people rely on AA to fly from CMI and connect elsewhere to go home for break. The 170 has 65 seats which is 15 more than the 145 so AA will have no trouble filling those up.

    So they are moving ERJ-145s to Chicago? Because I thought they were moving them out of Chicago and that is why Air Wisconsin is being brought back.

    • @ASAviation
      @ASAviation  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Envoy is going to end ERJ-145 operations from Chicago by May 4th. They only moved their 145’s to ORD in the final stages. However Piedmont will still continue operating 145’s.

    • @noahjhoward1
      @noahjhoward1 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well it definitely looks like it. The routes served by the E145 don’t make sense anymore because of worker shortages. Smaller aircraft means a higher density. Soon they’ll probably replace the E145’s on this route with a CRJ-700 or an E175.

    • @ASAviation

      Simple, because there are people that needs to connect to other destinations. So flights are still needed.
