Spiff, The big black blimps are DDT(Dark Dirigible Titan, That's it's name) is a Lead variant, Meaning only Juggernaut, Ultra Juggernaut, Crossbow master, and Plasma Monkey Fanclub(PMFC) can damage it. I would recommend getting the 5-0-2 Dart-monkey to tackle the Ceramics and have the PMFC take on the DDT's and the other MOAB class bloons. I don't know if you've tackled Monkey knowledge yet, But there is one in Primary at the bottom that lets you have not one, but TWO cross bow masters. they are great clean up. Once you have a two or three Super Monkey fan clubs save for the tier 5 even though it seems expensive you should be able to afford it once you have a solid Defense down. Edit: Plasma Fan club Exists.
One minor trick for surviving the early game, set the catapults to fire at the last balloon instead of the first. This way they will always launch their projectile through the entire line of balloons instead of tracking the one in front, so each shot does as much damage as possible. It's not very relevant once you get to the midgame, but early on it definitely helps you save money by not needing to place as many other towers.
When I discovered this, it was a game changer, especially given how certain maps have those areas with really long choke points. One juggernaut can solo in some maps and in others it is a horrible experience trying to utilize them to their max potential.
Yeah his lack of using target priority was one of his problems along side not knowing where to put some of the monkeys his crossbow was so badly placed
@@ShugoAWay He also spread out on his dart monkeys really bad at the start for that "neat even spacing." If he tightened it up he could def had added an extra 7 or 8 to each little lane and filled up the SMFC buff easier. (also never upgraded to PMFC)

Spiff, you can use the super monkey ability on upgraded dart monkeys, they just wont affect non-dart monkeys. Also, they transformed monkeys benefit from their upgrades while they're super monkeys. Technically, since farms don't do damage, you can use farms to help with the cash - which would let you get the plasma monkey fan club and would have prevented your loss at wave 93.
He is using only dart monkeys. I think if he placed more 4-0-2 dart monkeys he would have done better, or just saved up for plasma monkey fan club. Though you get less cash from popping bloons overtime.
I always love how these videos start with "what would happen if you did this?" and then watch the power levels gradually climb up and over nine thousand while Spiff explains "well see when this thing happens I get this and because I have this, it allows me to do this which is damn near unstoppable"

lets be honest, the DMP is so bad, all 4 dart monkey tier 5s can far outlast it, bc it cant be buffed, making it kinda useless unless you get a high degree, and to do so means you dont get the paragon until lategame, like r110+. also. VTSG, need i say more.

It's even more of a late-game tower than the Paragons are, which makes sense considering it's an upgrade for the most expensive and most powerful tower in the game. The Paragons only need $250k in sacrifices for max sacrifice value as opposed to the $350k for the VTSG, and the corresponding T5s are far cheaper too. Yes, the damage output isn't as high as a VTSG, but if it was then nobody would ever use the VTSG as it would be completely outclassed.
tip that you probably won't see: the weird black blimp is called a "DDT" and is a very fast bloon that has the properties of camo and lead bloons, and its children are regrow. also, after round 80, the ceramics change into what's known as super ceramics, which have much more health, but only spawn one child instead of two. this was done to reduce lag but still increase difficulty, so the strategy to defeat them is more based on damage rather than attack speed (altho obviously it's better to have both)

If I get the monkey city upgrade on a village i might use it so that im not just wasting all of my free monkeys, its in no way overpowered though at all.
He never said the upgrade itself was overpowered, he just said when they convert into super monkeys they become completely overpowered. Also, remember he’s doing dart monkeys only so it’s not like has that many options.

Oh wow, I never thought you'd play this game. For thise wondering, its a great game, even on mobile platforms - it has the full content on mobile, and isnt as mindless as most mobile games these days. The developers are also very active with the community.
I play it on mobile and switch it back and forth between my phone and tablet seamlessly. Definitely worth the money. Oh, and BTD5 was pretty awesome also.
As a BTD6 fan, I wasn't sure if I would like this video. I'm glad that Spiff didn't come in acting like he knew exactly how to beat everything, but simply wanted to try out the dart monkey challenge. And considering the limitations, lack of experience, and lack of monkey money, I was pretty impressed at how far he got! Great video!

I love playing Bloons- always have- and the crossbow master is one of my favorite units. So strong and absolutely destroys bloons. Very cheap compared to a lot of other tier 5 upgrades
its so funny seeing new player's reactions to the DDT. for those that dont know, its basically a MOAB (blue blimp) with the properties of a pink balloon (speed), camo (undetectable to most monkeys), lead (cant be popped by sharp objects like darts).
Dart monkeys are one of the best towers in the game btw. Crossbow master is definitely perfectly balanced and definitely cant obliterate everything with little to no help

as a person who has 122 hours in the game i think he could have gotten further by not spamming monkey and just using and t5's and the 2 0-2-5's you can get, with 19 triple darts around the 0-5-2 or 2-5-0 and then just spamming 0-2-4's witht the rest of the money, that is the best defense you can get with the dart monkeys without a paragon

wdym? ice and mortar are really good, the bottom path ice can stun lock DDTs, invaluable in shorter maps. mortar is also great AOE damage and busted in many maps that have a loop.

So, those black blimps are called DDTs, and to destroy them, you need towers with all three types of popping power: camo, lead, and black. meaning they're immune to explosions, require camo sight, and lead power to damage, a tip from someone who wasted way too much time on this game
My favorite tactic in the last game of the series was to use endless waves of submarines as there was the bonus to hit everything that was in reach of something else other ship and the sub making all entities on the map reachable. So basically all could hit everything and nothing was save the problem Was a lack of water
The trebuchet may be superior, however the catapult has one thing that can't be taken from it. It has underdog factor. It also is more well known, which gives it a popularity advantage.

Those are DDTs, which are camo, lead, black, regen blimps, whose children are camo and regen. So only your Juggernauts and Crossbow Master dealt damage. Also, there is a Monkey knowledge to allow two Crossbow Masters on the field at the same time, while also being alongside the Paragon.
I would like to respectfully disagree. Playing BTD6 gave me the distinct impression that much more work was put into how the game looked and sounded than the actual game mechanics. And it seemed to have even more items and whatever those hero things are tied to real money than I think is reasonable. BTD5 is, to me, the best game in the entire genre

Ugh that game, was a lot of fun till I spawned in an area too far from water to produce power iirc. Its been a long time but I had a super hard time building due to the land I was started on. And the game had no hard reset option on the site I played on.
As a a person that asked this question about two years ago, I can say only is this a strategy that can succeed, I have beaten every map up to hard on every difficulty with it, the dart monkey (and dart monkey crossbow in particular) is unironically really good and can handle every situation, this is aided by the special buffs from prestige book.
The problem with the Dart Monkey strategy is money generation. The amount of money you get per popped bloon goes down constantly, so you really need to use other ways to make money. Dart Monkeys don't have that.
Great video love this game, also me and my mates have discovered an exploit in age of empires 3 definitive edition where any native units you hire from tribes don't count towards your populations cap, so you can have an army over 200 strong. Works in multilayer but not sure in single player

I played Bloons back when it was still called Bloons Tower Defense but I stopped for years and then recently started playing this one again. It’s pretty interesting how much the series has changed and evolved since the first and second games. I used to love tower defense games but I got tired of them for a while. I forgot how fun they can be though. I’ve got a lot to learn about the ins and outs of this new one but I’m enjoying it so far.
I haven't tried the latest version, but Bloons tower defense has basically allowed you to win with just the dart monkey ever since the super monkey fanclub became a thing.
Years ago in my 6th grade class, my classmate did exactly that in the older version. There were so many standard monkies that the ones in the back never threw a single dart

DDT are usually being shredded by X.X.5 ice or by adding X.3.X village to make you're towers to be able to damage every type of balloon. Also, you should have bought a PMFS, or plasma monke fan club, is timed correctly, they could be very powerful strategy.
Fun fact: The name of the franchise was changed from Bloons Tower Defense to Bloons TD because “Tower Defense” is a trademarked name.

As a BTD6 fan, I wasn't sure if I would like this video. I'm glad that Spiff didn't come in acting like he knew exactly how to beat everything, but simply wanted to try out the dart monkey challenge. And considering the limitations, lack of experience, and lack of monkey money, I was pretty impressed at how far he got! Great video!

I love playing Bloons- always have- and the crossbow master is one of my favorite units. So strong and absolutely destroys bloons. Very cheap compared to a lot of other tier 5 upgrades

I remember first starting this game and having the same reaction to the DDTs that spiff does, sheer panic
its so funny seeing new player's reactions to the DDT. for those that dont know, its basically a MOAB (blue blimp) with the properties of a pink balloon (speed), camo (undetectable to most monkeys), lead (cant be popped by sharp objects like darts).

Dart monkeys are one of the best towers in the game btw. Crossbow master is definitely perfectly balanced and definitely cant obliterate everything with little to no help
On most easy maps, Crossbow master solos hard mode, the only difficulty is getting him.

as a person who has 122 hours in the game i think he could have gotten further by not spamming monkey and just using and t5's and the 2 0-2-5's you can get, with 19 triple darts around the 0-5-2 or 2-5-0 and then just spamming 0-2-4's witht the rest of the money, that is the best defense you can get with the dart monkeys without a paragon
i love how spiff complained about not being able to buy any other type of monkey other then dart monkey and then named the three worst monkeys in the game lol
wdym? ice and mortar are really good, the bottom path ice can stun lock DDTs, invaluable in shorter maps. mortar is also great AOE damage and busted in many maps that have a loop.
The glue gunner is great as well

I hate the mortar but I have to still respect that its a pretty good tower, and ice and glue are also good towers
So, those black blimps are called DDTs, and to destroy them, you need towers with all three types of popping power: camo, lead, and black. meaning they're immune to explosions, require camo sight, and lead power to damage, a tip from someone who wasted way too much time on this game
I never new they were immune to explosions. I thought Moab maulers can damage then with camo sight.

My favorite tactic in the last game of the series was to use endless waves of submarines as there was the bonus to hit everything that was in reach of something else other ship and the sub making all entities on the map reachable. So basically all could hit everything and nothing was save the problem

Bloonarius is a boss tho, the most powerful bloon in the game would be the fortified BAD
tip of advice: if you hear clicking, that means the thing you're hitting is made of lead, and is being attacked by something that can't pop lead.
Those are DDTs, which are camo, lead, black, regen blimps, whose children are camo and regen. So only your Juggernauts and Crossbow Master dealt damage. Also, there is a Monkey knowledge to allow two Crossbow Masters on the field at the same time, while also being alongside the Paragon.
I'm so happy to see this game getting the attention it deserves! It's so good and improves upon all the old games in every way possible.

I would like to respectfully disagree. Playing BTD6 gave me the distinct impression that much more work was put into how the game looked and sounded than the actual game mechanics. And it seemed to have even more items and whatever those hero things are tied to real money than I think is reasonable. BTD5 is, to me, the best game in the entire genre

Ugh that game, was a lot of fun till I spawned in an area too far from water to produce power iirc. Its been a long time but I had a super hard time building due to the land I was started on. And the game had no hard reset option on the site I played on.

As a a person that asked this question about two years ago, I can say only is this a strategy that can succeed, I have beaten every map up to hard on every difficulty with it, the dart monkey (and dart monkey crossbow in particular) is unironically really good and can handle every situation, this is aided by the special buffs from prestige book.
The problem with the Dart Monkey strategy is money generation. The amount of money you get per popped bloon goes down constantly, so you really need to use other ways to make money. Dart Monkeys don't have that.

Great video love this game, also me and my mates have discovered an exploit in age of empires 3 definitive edition where any native units you hire from tribes don't count towards your populations cap, so you can have an army over 200 strong. Works in multilayer but not sure in single player

I played Bloons back when it was still called Bloons Tower Defense but I stopped for years and then recently started playing this one again. It’s pretty interesting how much the series has changed and evolved since the first and second games. I used to love tower defense games but I got tired of them for a while. I forgot how fun they can be though. I’ve got a lot to learn about the ins and outs of this new one but I’m enjoying it so far.

I haven't tried the latest version, but Bloons tower defense has basically allowed you to win with just the dart monkey ever since the super monkey fanclub became a thing.
Years ago in my 6th grade class, my classmate did exactly that in the older version. There were so many standard monkies that the ones in the back never threw a single dart

DDT are usually being shredded by X.X.5 ice or by adding X.3.X village to make you're towers to be able to damage every type of balloon. Also, you should have bought a PMFS, or plasma monke fan club, is timed correctly, they could be very powerful strategy.
