I put 115,000 miles on one of these without any problems apart from a cracked ignition coil. Marvellous engines, well made, easy to maintain and built to last. Can't wait to see the full restoration.
After riding my 1972 Granada Red R75/5 for 40 years, my Doctor said a few months ago, STOP or I'll take your license away and then no cars either. She was right..........all the same it hurts.
Old mechanics trick,. If you haven’t got a electric source to the starter motor short out the connectors with ( a screw driver), but make sure the handle is insulated. Your welcome.
Along with early Honda engines, the BMW Airhead is the best motorcycle engine ever made.
