  • In this video I replace the sprockets and rollers on a kubota mini excavator. The undercarriage was in very poor condition and had an unbearable squeak. This was mostly why I got this particular ex - the PO didn't want to do the repairs and sold it at a discount.

    I've helped people three times to put a track back on two skid steers. Hory Shirt!!! What a massive PITA! It's like trying to wrestle a 500 lb wet noodle. Kudos for making it look easy!

      Haha I agree. It's easier to get them off it seems than back on. Thanks for watching and commenting! - Shawn

    I so love these types of videos! 😊 Love seeing things get built or fixed. Being able to do this on your own, Shawn, was impressive. That roller belt thingy looked really awkward to remove and put back on. Well done! I did, however, have my fingers at the ready at my ears just in case that horrific noise were to start again! Lol 🤭😊 There should have been a pre-vid warning of that noise! Hahaha! 🤣
    PS...meant to say, I was tempted to get out my own wee can of DW40 to get a bit of the smell of what you were doing! I didn't, as that possibly would be going too far!!! 🤣😂🤣

      Hey Tracy I have tried to keep those loud noises under control This was a somewhat early video, published june 10, 2020 before many people were watching my stuff

    Just to help you out when removing the track take it off from the idler end first. Then installing it start at the sprocket end.

    great video thanks. I have the same machine and have some loose and squeaky rollers as well. Is it absolutely necessary to take off the tracks if just doing to the rollers and not the drive sprocket or idler?

    Have you changed the oil in the final drives? I hate to say it but the previous owner rode this thing hard and put it away wet.No pun intended.Anyway I would do a complete service. But you know this. I like your enthusiasm when it comes to maintenance of the equipment.

    • @GCFD
      @GCFD  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I changed the oil in the final drives in another video. One of the drives had virtually NO oil in it! I'm keeping a close eye on it.

    That grease gun was not exactly standard issue of Auto Zone. Details?

      It's a dewalt 20v grease gun. It's fantastic.

    Good video, are those aftermarket parts ? 150 per roller seems cheap thats why im asking.

    • @GCFD
      @GCFD  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes we have a company called Wilson Finley www.wilsonfinleyparts.com/ in town that carries heavy equipment parts.

    There's no way that thing is that worn with just "a couple thousand hours" on it.

    • @GCFD
      @GCFD  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was around 2500 hours. I also had to replace the computer module so the machine has a lot of new parts now. It's been great so far.
