I liked Fable II but that anti-climatic ending. I too was expecting a final boss but nope. Fable was also my favorite (or one of my favorite ) Xbox games.
Would have been better if that dumb annoying dog wasn't forced to follow you through the whole game but I also agree about the boss fight too. I honestly liked Fable 3 more than 2 but I think everyone agrees Fable 1 is by a extremely large margin the best.
You can't be serious. You didn't get one fight that you expected, and that *ruined* the *entire game*? Wtf? Who in their right might thought Lucian would be a comparable final boss to Jack of Blades? Lucian wasn't a primal terror from the Void itself - he was an old man corrupted and controlled by Theresa and The Spire. Theresa's entire plan was to have Lucian complete the tower, then be killed by Sparrow. She wouldn't have allowed Lucian to become powerful enough to stand a chance against Sparrow. Remember, the real villain of Fable 2 is not Lucian, it's Theresa. And she wins, not you. There's no final boss fight because Theresa wins, and decides not to kill you instantly.

Microsoft is so closed minded, this guy and his team were a valuable asset for the company. His big mistake was not including guns and shooting mechanics into the series for Microsoft to like. I can only picture the guys from Cuphead pitching the idea of a co-op 2D platform and Microsoft going like: "Yeah it sounds fun and creative, now... can you make it a shooter?" Same goes for Rare, one of my favorite developers ever and... they are making a shooter now! Is that really what people want?

Fable had such potential. Such a shame the games felt low-effort in regards to the promises they made. I would have loved to see more fluid and dynamic changes in the world (seasons changing, trees blooming and dying, choices you make throughout the game having more impact on the world and its environment, having your choices actually branch from dynamic things you do in game rather than just choices you make during the questline, character builds and combat feeling more in-depth instead of the standard X Y B set-up, and even a bigger less 'hallway-ish' world to actually explore).
I hope one day he will reboot Fable series and resurrect it's glory. I remember enjoying "Fable: The Lost Chapters" so much! Actually, I think that this game was the first RPG I've ever played. It was like a fairy tale, wonderful piece of art. Too bad I didn't play Fable 2 at the time, since it was console exclusive... For shits and giggles I signed up for the Legends beta but that experience lasted 20 mins because there were too many bugs for me to able to do anything. Maybe one day Microsoft will revive it, but I will always have fond memories of that game.

The 500-year time gap would have been acceptable if it still retained elements of what made the 1 one good. 2 was 50-50 for me but 3 really disappointed me. The demo made me not want to buy it. The series was dead for me.

I replayed all the fable games recently, and while I love them I totally agree. I always thought it would have been good if the Fable series did a prequel. Moving back to the medieval setting when there was still multiple heroes alive. Maybe even do the story of the first heroes and how they ended up building the heroes guild. They always teased Scythe as this ancient hero with lots of mystery around him, it'd be nice to be there to see your story become involved with his.
The first fable is my all time favorite game. I have done 15+ play through. Can do the whole game without weapons and armor and not get hit once. Great lore and world they created in that game.
Fable 4 needs to be made but it needs to incorporate aspects of the prior 3, with radiant quests and more side quests. Make it more ambitious basically.

The only failure was the fable kinect game and trying to make the moba /online game. Fable was never about battle and multi-player it was so successful because it was quirky, funny and the world was engrossing...

That, and they just didn't take the game seriously. Fable needed to mold into a darker, more adult medieval fantasy vision...grow with the players, as it were. In this age of Game of Thrones, Witcher, Last Kingdom, etc. it has simply proven true that people want stories of substance, with adult grit and realism to guide the pathways of such stories. Fable failed in these departments.

Molyneux got so much undeserved critizism for the fable franchise. Fable 1 and 2 were funny, exciting and absolutely unique RPG's. I just had a wonderful time playing them. Fable 3 was also an okay game. I actually bought a Xbox ONE because I was hoping for a new Fable.....
I agree. I didn't like the jump in technology, culture, and setting from Fable to Fable 2. I preferred the setting of Fable, but Fable 2 was actually a great game as well.
Fable 1 TLC was an amazing expansion of the original and the story was good but whether it was better than Fable 2 it's debatable. Fable 1 towns and music was definitely better though and I also loved the era it took place in (swords, bows and magic).

the music's ability to drag you in is a big part of what made the first game so successful. Oakvale, Witchwood, Guild theme... so magical.

it wasn't 'time', it was the gameplay! fable 2 onwards removed the key elements that made fable 1 and 2 fun.

I agree. I didn't like the jump in technology, culture, and setting from Fable to Fable 2.
I preferred the setting of Fable, but Fable 2 was actually a great game as well.
Fable 1 TLC was an amazing expansion of the original and the story was good but whether it was better than Fable 2 it's debatable. Fable 1 towns and music was definitely better though and I also loved the era it took place in (swords, bows and magic).
